I got my wife the A-spec TLX and she absolutely loves the car. She also absolutely hates when I drive it as I'm far more aggressive behind the wheel as you might also be as a husband who love to drive. Couple things I found, it won't hold a cruise above 90MPH, it turns off at 130MPH but it very fun to drive. It's not my 94 twin turbo Z32 fun, but sitting in the seats hitting turns it does stick very well and does center you very quickly out of those turns. It wouldn't be the car for me but taking the wife and kids on trips I still get to enjoy the ride while my wife and daughter yell dad slow down.. That is the issue I found, it makes you want to drive it under preforming or not it has that feel. Not many cars have better seats IMO, designed by an orthopedic they are fantastic for long drives and the seat cooling stops that swamp arse you get in leather. I would also say the A-spec looks far better then the base model with the extras you get.
The engine and transmission are reliable , great chassis, great speakers. Not as sporty as the 3.5 and 3.7 V6 engine (~300hp) but really can't complain. If you want power, wait for the V6 turbo Type S
if it hasn't been said yet, on most Acura's there is a sequence you can do with the traction control button and foot brake to completely disable traction and stability management. Used to do this on my first gen tlx in winter for some fun. Just Google it, its over at acurazine. No need to pull fuses. Unless they changed it

Had this car for 3 months before wrecking it. Its so nice to drive. It was my first AWD car and I don't know if I could ever go back. The torque vectoring pulls you around tight corners. Funny thing is that my top spec 9th Gen Accord (in Australia, where Honda is marketed higher and better equipped because no Acura) has a far nicer interior than all competitors (Liberty/Legacy, Mazda 6, Camry) and gets seriously close to the Euros (5, E and A6). Honda makes good stuff.

Yes! All waiting for both the type s cars coming tlx&mdx. As for Honda gear selectionr it takes a min but you do get used to the transmission. Prefer those buttons vs bmw shifter. The buttons on Honda are faster to use and not, easier to use no extra buttons to hit to put the car in drive or reverse, each button is its own. You can't put the car in reverse by accident drive down reverse back. BMW i had to look to make sure what gear I is in, one time if it wasn't for the camera popping up i might have taken of in reverse if I was rushing 😅. LoL wait didn't both you guys do that lol. Good luck on the new channel!
I love y’all’s video man I’m a huge vehicle person Nd I just love watching this keep up the good work. 💯
The fact that i didn't consider this shows what people feel about "ACURA" rebadged Honda will never go away
Honda Global platform!
You not considering a car doesn’t speak for how people feel about Acura haha. TLX outsold the A4, IS, and Q50 last year with the old model. Acura no longer shares anything with Honda except transmissions. Even the engines they tune differently. How do you feel about Lexus and Audi then?
@@AFCompany I've always owned Acura/Hondas I'm just stating the obvious. An Acura is a Honda. Just buy a Honda instead!
@@Ur_cristiano_778 would you buy a Volkswagen over an Audi or Toyota over a Lexus? Ya they are all the same companies but two different brands. If there wasn’t a difference Audi, Acura, and Lexus wouldn’t be as successful as they are. While I will say some of the materials and interiors amongst these brands and their luxury divisions has been similar, the ride quality has always been much different.
@@AFCompany Your just stating the obvious you not making a valid point , I'm on second Acura TSX now they are badged Honda's all around the world. They don't do enough do differentiate their models just slap a badge on it and bump up the price.
SH-AWDy like a melody in mah head
Go SH-AWD, iss yo birthday!
Underrated comment
So underrated.
The engine and transmission are reliable , great chassis, great speakers. Not as sporty as the 3.5 and 3.7 V6 engine (~300hp) but really can't complain. If you want power, wait for the V6 turbo Type S
"Why spend the extra money on a fancier version of a Accord?" That's exactly the point, it's fancier. LOL
“E class” why spend the extra money on a fancier version of a c class? That’s exactly the point, it’s fancier. LOL
@@alexshendel1984 hehehe
I truly appreciate this comment. I've been practical my WHOLE life. I need fancy! lol
if it hasn't been said yet, on most Acura's there is a sequence you can do with the traction control button and foot brake to completely disable traction and stability management. Used to do this on my first gen tlx in winter for some fun. Just Google it, its over at acurazine. No need to pull fuses. Unless they changed it
Is there a video review of the Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti Sport coming from you guys?🤔
Best. Italian sports sedan. Ever!
It’s in the shop
Seconded! Would love to see their thoughts on it and the Stelvio TI for that matter.
If the Accord looked like the TLX, it'd sell like crazy.
"Don’t Buy That Mercedes, Yet.". I wasn't gonna! Gonna buy a 3 series!
Oh no
Too late already bought it!
Really enjoy your reviews! And so refreshing to hear the comparisons with the Alfa Romeo, BMW, etc., as no one buys a car in this segment in a vacuum. Speaking of, I would love to see your insights on how the 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint/Ti Sport handles.
I’m loving my 19 Honda Accord Touring 2.0T.
How much did you get it?
@@stephen973 30,345 got it Nov. of 2019. I’m from Atlanta, Georgia.
@@drewbenefield2001 I keep seeing it above 35k...
@@stephen973 I emailed 7 or 8 dealerships before I got that price!
@@stephen973 MSRP 36,829 I believe.
Every Throttle House episode: Thomas has an opinion, James has a strong rebuttal, Thomas backs down.
Stand up for yourself more Thomas! If you believe in something, say it.
The only people who would skip a Mercedes for this are people who never would've considered buying a German car in the first place
I just bought a new ilx and i wont question reliability with it. The reason people skip german is to protect their wallets from endless repairs.
@@davidcohen2762 It's a new car. Repairs are free on new cars...
His point remains. The people who buy this car are people who don't know what model they drive usually.
@@davidcohen2762 they aren't endless money pits. Quit drinking the scotty koolaid
@@eventusvantos2770 so when you have to spend $1000 on an oil change at the dealer because its german that makes financial sense
@@davidcohen2762 1) its not necessarily 6hst much
2) even if it was its nothing to those that can afford the car in the first place
3) you don't need to do oil changes often
By that logic lexus have expensive oil changes etc
Love the chillstep as background music.
Imao! It does look like a catfish, that's brilliant Thomas.
Haha you just noticed? Poor thing is hideous, the old ones (Elantras too) looked so much better. In fairness the new Sonata does look cool from the rear at night.
Had this car for 3 months before wrecking it. Its so nice to drive. It was my first AWD car and I don't know if I could ever go back. The torque vectoring pulls you around tight corners. Its kind of alarming at first because of how sharp the car turns in.
Its a bit of a dog when it comes to engine performance, but its still quicker than most cars you would find at the top end of a lower class. I would say its slower than a 2.0t accord, but is better in every other driving metric.
Looking forward to the drag race with the accord
So we're not gonna talk about how thomas pulled a fuse just to go skiiiirt 😂 mans said "fine, I'll do it myself"
Finally the Acura interior has stepped away from being a slightly fancier Honda & has its own look for the most part....!
Still Honda+ to many!
@@keynesianeconomics4113 all I know is it is really shameful that brands like Acura & Audi (just to name a few) are pretty much identical to the brother brands. Infinity & Lexus have always done a fantastic job of not looking anything like Nissan & Toyota cars....!
@@ngarci8040 Audi's far superior to Volkswagen even though they're similarly designed. Acura doesn't really need to exist as Honda has a strong name in the automotive industry and given sales of the Accord, people are willing to pay a premium over Toyota, Subaru and Hyundai, and similar money over a Volkswagen.
@@keynesianeconomics4113 superior yes BUT pretty much the same interior type styling for a long time just like the Acura & Honda. I owed a 2011 base Jetta after I sold it I test drove a 2014 A3 premium & it was like I was pretty much looking at my Jetta interior same door panels, dash, gages. The only difference was the info systems. I’m sure things aren’t exactly the same with the two German brothers anymore . But anyways my point is Acura finally did a good job on the 2021
I love my 2017 TLX, can’t wait to upgrade
Thomas: I feel potential
*breaks car*
Thomas: This is great!
VW's 2021 Arteon is so underrated, Please bring that as well. It would be worth it
The red gauges on the A-spec are a must.
yup, they're a throwback to the ~2002 RSX Type S.
We don’t even get Acura as a brand in Australia
Or anything from GM for that matter, while we’re at it
Or about half of Honda, Toyota, Nissan :(
I’ll trade you my CTS-V for a Ute Maloo?
same here in Thailand. And if you want to buy Lexus instead, Lexus IS will cost you as same as BMW 5 series or Merc E-Class.
Oz is third world!
Same in india too, heck we didn't even get cars like the mazda miata heck mazda as a brand or even the base gt86
We would have seen a lot more Accords on the roads in Australia if Honda hadn't priced it so freaking high. Like seriously, the cheapest model costs 20k AUD more than the base Camry, which is just insane.
My first car was a 4th Gen Acura TL, super great car & lasted me 8 years/180k miles before I sold it
Great video, guys. The car looks very nice and is competitive in the segment but, still too expensive in Canada - in my opinion. +$60k taxes included for a loaded Acura is just too much.
Way too much!
@@normt430 Yeah seriously. At that price you can get a G70 with a 3.3l twin-turbo v6. Way better value IMO
The 2007/8 TL Type S was my favorite car. Can’t wait to get behind the wheel of a new one.
I can't unsee the catfish with the Sonata. LOL
That is why Im still holding on to my 4th gen TL, solid car, can't beat the growl of that straight V6 VTEC engine sound!
Actually looks good
Just had to say my 2 cents. Give the button transmissionon the Honda a trial week or 2 you won't be looking down.. Much love keep up the good work.
Honda FTW 💪
Liked for the Giulia shoutout. Love mine with all my heart
I'd delete the chrome defining the front grill to seamlessly blend it in with the rest of the body.
I believe it's the performance trim that blacks out that chrome. And as you surmised, it looks better.
I have an Acura RL 2007 and it has more features than 2018 benz’s. unbelievable car
Liked because of. Catfish commend. Its too big and still fwd bias
The extra throttle house content is great. A podcast would be amazing 🙏🏼
I’m SUPER tempted by the Type-S... I have an Accord and it’s superb, but dull as dishwater. I can’t drive anything German or a Dodge, so for a fun four door (dare I say sleeper) I think the TLX ticks a lot of boxes
Edit: The new WRX STi appeals also
You guys sitting on the couch talking makes me think that you guys need a third person like “Captain Slow” and you are ready for a TV show. Could be the next TOP GEAR!!!
When you pull the traction control the car is a little something otherwise boring boring boring
Your videos are great
The Honda shifter is actually nice. We own two hondas with it and got used to it in a week. It's incredibly intuitive.
0:35 It is fwd...with an awd afterthought as an option, but still fwd based 🤷♂️
