After reading all the comments y’all are to funny the Audi fanboys/stinger haters have so many excuses 1. Stinger is not stock 2. S5 owner doesn’t know how to launch 3.S5 owner was sandbagging 4.S5 has heavy wheels 5. S5 has a intake that is making it slower 6. S5 was using 91 There is more I’m sure lol. Get over it the stinger is quicker. The S5 has a superior LC and jumps out but the stinger will always pull it back and pass it because it is just the overall quicker car. Go look at the results from car and driver test of S5 and stinger gt awd. Look at all the test results at the bottom you’ll clearly see the stinger is quicker. Stinger is a great car the S5 is a great car the stinger is just a lil bit quicker……..get over it.

Ever been in a tuned S/Q5 3.0t supercharged SUV? Stage I tunes with no other mods can be 12 second cars with 440ish hp. Granted it's more car than SUV 😁
The design over the years has grown on me. The sleek rounded corners, simple front grille and the unique rear lights. Plus performance wise it really does hit that sweet spot as well. But don't like the fact Scorpion GT didn't get any additional HP and at least a signature badging to really separate it from the other GT models. But of course it has the same performance carried over to the Scorpion.
The fact that’s he’s so surprised by the Stinger GT is genuinely hilarious lol. Everyone knows those cars are fast as shit. It’s a bargain S5/4 in every sense.
Use the paddles on the kia when roll racing, shift at about 5200 or so. Do not go to redline or let it shift itself, it's been proven to be slower. Can confirm as well being a Stinger owner who races it 😁. Overall great video again!
@@MrFudge420 ok cool. Gotta bring mines to the dealer then. Brought it 2 days ago and I just raced a charger yesterday and as I smoked it went up pass 120mph n it started actin like it had Parkinson disease 🤣🤣😅
That was fun to watch. We know the Germans are fond of underrated power figures on paper. That being said I expected the S5 to pull away and keep it's lead in all the races.
Stinger was pulling on the roll races 100% so props to Kia! But the S5 won both sport mode races by more than a car which is what matters in an actual off the line race to finish. Not sure what people are looking at. Drive mode puts the Audi to sleep for a reason. If you have ever driven an Audi in Drive you would know how dulled down they are so pointless in my eyes. Anyhow very evenly matched nice video! Audi wins the Drag Stinger wins the roll.
@@stlswagger If we are talking stock as in this video then it must be about stock modes. I'm sorry my friend I think it would be the other way around. Older S4/5 supercharged for much less money will kill both of these current cars with much less spent.
It was neck and neck, when both in their best performance mode.. so really no one killed anyone.. Audi defense, it's normal mode must not behave the same in full throttle, like the Stingers does.. if notice races vs. Stinger, it always does about the same in sport mode vs. comfort mode... because in full throttle, it's tuned to sense you want FULL Tilt and just does that everytime regardless of mode... so they were basically tied, Equals.
Literally walked through the 2022 S5 pricing at the dealership the other day. Kia’s performance is awesome to see, but the vehicles in this setting isn’t how I’m going to use it. If the track is where you’re spending your time, M series, AMG, RS. Otherwise; gonna take this blend as the ideal combo between comfort and performance. I haven’t looked at the kia’s technology but the Audi’s virtual cockpit is second to none
I'd argue that the Kia is a better GT car than the S5. The S5 isn't a sports car and it's not a particularly good GT car. Go drive both and then see if your opinion changes. I have and the S5 isn't a very good package IMO.
@@ikeali105 the interior is way nicer in the Audi. Better materials and layout. I really like the stinger but I don't like the round vents and tacked on screen.
Good job holding it's own and I don't think they even used launch control. The Koreans have really been stepping up their game the past few years. The Stinger punches well above it's price and can be made even faster with a tune. No it's not the fastest car out there, but it's still damn impressive.
So proud to be a stinger owner 😄😄. Good job sam. I remember the days that you weren't a big fan of the stinger, and now you see what a great job they did there in Korea. And that for 15k$ less in price comparing to the S5. Happy 🇨🇦 day!!
The S5 launch control is superior it wins off the lineusing LC but stinger pulls it back. But in every other aspect rolling or just mashing the throttle the stinger pulls on S5 💯.
@Tim4 you get a chance to test the LC on a 2022 Stinger yet? The built-in boost gauge actually shows it building boost during LC. I dunno if the gauge showed boost building in the prior model years. You ever checked the gauge on yours during LC?
@@Maljey I don’t have a 2022 model. This car in the test def isn’t a 2022 model. But the whole stinger community knows it doesn’t build boost. It’s been tested. I doubt the 2022 model builds boost. I have a base GT AWD so I don’t have boost gauge. Watch the straight pipes review of the original stinger they show the gauge using LC it does nothing maybe .5 PSI lol Kia/Genesis did this to protect drivetrain can’t have motors blowing up with 10 year warranties.
@@Tsand4 yeah, but apparently there are rumors of the LC being changed on 2022 models. See this thread: stingerforum (dot) org/threads/question-about-launch-control-2022-awd-gt1.21882/

Man, with these two it's all about the launch and picking the right gear! Stinger stings again! I don't know if anyone has done a Stinger GT vs C43 Amg race yet? But it makes sense to follow up this one.
Stinger will not beat a c43 it is only 3900lbs with more hp n tq then stinger. The S5 is the only German it can beat still very good for a car that is 10-20k cheaper then the Germans and weighs more then all of them.
Are you sure the mods aren’t affecting the performance? I went from running a 12.95 @ 108 mph 1/4 mile to a 12.62 @ 111 mph simply by replacing the stock snorkels on my Stinger with aftermarket ones. That Stinger may not be tuned but it looked faster than stock.
It’s not faster then stock the stinger is quicker then the S5 in every scenario besides the S5 using LC. Look at car and driver tests on awd stinger and S5 it’s quicker in every metric besides 0-60 but pretty much catches up at 1/4 mile. And rolling 5-60 50-70 70-100 stinger is all significantly quicker.
@Catholic Firefighter you must not have owned a turbo car before. All my cars are turbo cars and you can easily gain 15-25 hp with just an intake upgrade. It depends on how restrictive the stock intake is. With a less restrictive intake you can gain 1-2 psi of boost which equals more power.
Lol this wasn't biased at all 🙄 the S5 with rotary forged wheels, an intake, with a 300lbs lighter curb weight and AWD still got gapped consistently from a dig by a completely stock (under the hood) Stinger, I cannot wait to buy a 2022 GT2 and start upgrading stuff lol, the thing us a beast!
I am really surprised by these results as well. While both cars have similar power numbers on paper, I always hear how Audi/BMW/Merc will underrate their stock HP numbers. Some people say the numbers reported by them are the hp numbers to the wheels? So I'm very surprised to see the Kia keep up and even surpass the S5.
Look at car and driver tests of AWD stinger and S5 besides the 0-60 and 1/4 mile which stinger pretty much catches up the stinger is quicker in every metric. They do a lot of different types of pulls a lot of rolling runs stinger is quicker in every one. And it passes the S5 in the 0-130mph by over a second.
@@Tsand4 That's why I wonder if Kia underrated the HP numbers on the Stinger as well. The Stinger is super close to the Challenger RT (5.7) in HP and weight. But it always performs better than Challenger RT in straight line. I'm sure some of it is due to Challenger tires but it's still surprising.
@@Maljey I think it is somewhat underrated but not like how bmw does saying the m340i is 382hp n it’s really pushin 450 lol instead of 365 it might be like 380-390 or somewhere around there.
So only reason kia is keeping up is 3 things. Peter schreyer, audi genius. The emissions in germany and korea are vastly different, and displacement. The 3.3 is a literal bomb and is incredibly unreliable especially the turbos. Whilst Audis reliability is absolutely phenomenal, other than your typical electronics issues and recalls
You know what else is ridiculous when your kia stinger is making 480 whp and does 0-60 3.6. With a piggy back tune that just hides boost from ecu air intakes exhaust wow!
@Booby Belly intercooler 3inch charge pipe ,intakes ,high flow primary cat, down pipe no cats mbrp exhaust hks plugs jb4 map 3 on 93 octane with all the wires.
@Booby Belly ive never raced a trackhawk but i respect them. I own a gt awd that is below the gt1 it Weigh about 300lbs lighter then the on in this vid that is a gt2. With upgraded turbo fuel sys and meth another 8grand 700+ hp yes. What makes the kia stinger fast is ability to have that 365hp at 1700 rpm to redline. Meny stock dyno runs show factory output to be higher then stock most of the time. The awd stinger put out 2psi of boost more then rwd to make up for drive train power loss.
the thing people seem to not understand here and alot of people just flat out dont know is that the Kia stinger builds 0 boost on any launch not even launch control!!!! the audi Will build boost on launch meaning it should win a dig every time considering it has boost right away! with kias 10 year 100k warranty they didnt want to fork out to much money with people doing a shit ton of boosted launches!

I've had 2 Audi's and 2 BMW's. Out of 2 Audi's...both had oil leakage and required a motor reseal & ultimately one had to get motor replaced. One BMW had a torn subframe & electrical problems (the other was newer and I sold within one year so it prob had issues too...lol). So 3 out of 4 had major defective (not even issues...just plain defects). I'd take a Ford PInto over any European car for reliability. Hahaha

Yessss I’ve seen some runs between a stock RS3 and stock RS5 and it seems like the RS5 is a little quicker, I reckon a TTRS would be a much better run for the RS5.
Now this is an apt comparison. However, pricing and warranty should be a bigger factor. The 2022 Kia GT Limited is 51k CAD. No options or upgrades needed as its pretty much fully loaded. The 2021 S5 Sportback (not the Technik which is even more expensive) with zero options (And there are plenty) starts at 66k CAD. The RS5 base starts at 88k CAD. Then you look at warranty. Kia is 10 years. Audi is 4 years.
I’ve raced 3 different stingers in my 20’ A6 55 TFSI and definitely walked all 3 of them. That launch control with the all wheel drive is super dialed in from factory spec. I’m also on the factory 21” pirelli p-zeroes on the prestige model. Car is shockingly fast(and I have 2 10’s in the trunk). I've owned both now, And you cannot beat an Audi interior. Kia's is nice, but not the same refinement and fit. The Kia is much more practical day to day, but I put almost 350K on the Audi with 0 issues and just regular maintenance, and spend way too much time on warranty work with the Kia. Never powertrain thankfully, always electrical and A/C issues.

1. Stinger is not stock
2. S5 owner doesn’t know how to launch
3.S5 owner was sandbagging
4.S5 has heavy wheels
5. S5 has a intake that is making it slower
6. S5 was using 91
There is more I’m sure lol. Stinger is a great car the S5 is a great car the stinger is just a lil bit quicker……..get over it.
whats even funnier is that the audi is building 50% of its boost on launch while the stinger has 0 boost on launch and it was still that close!

The s5 jumped on the first roll race
Great comparison here, really fun watching these races.
What matters is cost per smile. Don't make it just about modes. The Kia would kill the Audi once dollars are spent on mods
@@stlswagger If we are talking stock as in this video then it must be about stock modes. I'm sorry my friend I think it would be the other way around. Older S4/5 supercharged for much less money will kill both of these current cars with much less spent.

Damn my bet was on Audi. Kia killed it
It was neck and neck, when both in their best performance mode.. so really no one killed anyone..

I got the K5 GT Line and I love it. Next I'm getting the Stinger.
Kudos to Kia but I’d take the S5 in any given day for both its styling, performance and build quality!
I'd argue that the Kia is a better GT car than the S5. The S5 isn't a sports car and it's not a particularly good GT car. Go drive both and then see if your opinion changes. I have and the S5 isn't a very good package IMO.
The Audi is nicer. But it's probably cheaper to own the Stinger in the long run. Kia's warranty is pretty good.

@UA-cam Sucks yea that’s not happening. The S5 was the one with a intake.
@Catholic Firefighter also if wheels are a different size affects
Love my S5, if the 2022 G70 would have had some availability in Canada I may have gone home with one, but I’ve not been disappointed with the Audi.

Kia giving Audi run for its money! Nice man! 👍
Owned 4 Audis (currently TTS), and 1 Kia (2018). Lesson: Set the mark and Imitators will eventually overtake you. Now let’s talk about material quality and fit & finish 😉.
From a reliability standpoint, I’d put my trust in Kia over ANY Audi 😂
I've had 2 Audi's and 2 BMW's. Out of 2 Audi's...both had oil leakage and required a motor reseal & ultimately one had to get motor replaced. One BMW had a torn subframe & electrical problems (the other was newer and I sold within one year so it prob had issues too...lol). So 3 out of 4 had major defective (not even issues...just plain defects).
I'd take a Ford PInto over any European car for reliability. Hahaha

I don't care which one is faster. That Audi S5 Sportback is sexy AF.
I also have a manual 03 Mach 1 on nitto n555’ s bama/dyno tuned with Hooker long tubes + SLP LM1 with o/r X, no cats, no rezzies, Ford Racing MAF, JLP CAi, TB spacer, (no emissions where I live) with same premium shell gas and my a6 walks it too regardless of which car I’m in.

Im a G70 owner and will probably get an Audi for my next vehicle but yeah a Kia is still a Kia unfortunately. I guess Im a sucker for the luxury brands and will never get a Kia personally but no knock on people who buy them they look nice but just not my cup of tea.
I have a 2023 Stinger GT Elite with just over 5K on it now. Can't wait to try launch control.
Took the driver of the s5 4 races until he figured out how to “launch” the other bonus for the s5 is an extremely tunable engine you can reach 500+ hp w just tuning.
idk if yall watched how slow the s5 was moving but i own one and i can promise the driver does not know how to drive that car it didnt even look like he was flooring it and the stinger took off first almost everytime and i dont think the s5 did launches either, 4th and 5th one with traction off were the accurate ones i saw with both good launches at the same time and the s5 slows down alot when he passes the line and the stinger gasses through🤷🏻♂️
in the first 2 races the s5 didnt even look like ot was gassing it and the 3rd run the stinger tookoff first
