@straawberryfieldsforever I disagree. I've seen some really good oversized tucks and I've seen some stupid looking crops. Just like most other fashion looks it just depends.
Other than intentionally buying cropped or having pieces hemmed, may I also suggest the French tuck as a solid temporary option to alter the proportions of a top that normally fits longer.
the french tuck doesn't go where I live lmao, I don't know why but it looks good when ppl do it on the internet, but wnv I try or see someone try to rock it irl, it just looks like a kid got into their parents' closet
The thing I hate about cropped shirts is that for men, cropped means the shirt ends around your belt line rather your crotch, but for women, cropped means “SHOW YOUR STOMACH RIGHT NOW’ which I absolutely hate. As a short waisted woman I would much prefer a version of men’s cropped tees and hoodies so the shirt isn’t too long but still covers my stomach
i absoulety agree with you! Before watching this video, I didn't really like cropped shirts because the woman's cropped clothing is so short and I don't wanna show my belly but now I have a different perspective and I'm happy for this video. I'm defo going to try the hack
You could cut a normal tshirt yourself or even buy a men's one, here in spain lots of girls wear tshirts from the mens section of bershka or pull&bear... The thing is that normally a boxy shaped shirt will kind of hide the curves of your body and usually women jeans have a higher waist, so crop tops are shorter.
I'm just now getting into fashion and making myself look better, and finding this channel is probably the best thing that's happened for me so far in 2024.
I feel like the reason they look good could be simplified to the fact that longer shirts cover the top of your legs, disrupting the natural shape of the body (legs being longer than torso). Because cropped clothes reveal this section of your legs, your body's proportions look more human, therefore making other humans enjoy looking at you more
I don't think cropped is a golden rule for everyone under the basis of it being "symmetrical". People don't chase the whole cropped look for even proportion, they do it to make their legs look longer. Cropped is for people typically on the shorter side or guys with a long torso and short legs. If you're tall and lanky and you go with this cropped look, you straight up look like slender man or jack skelington.
@@watchyostepkevin I came here to say this. not quite skinny but a long torso and have basically been forced to wear a crop due to my length all my life and it looks butt. You looks way better if you actually do tuck it in but you're basically wrestling for it to stay completely tucked it. They aren't fitted correct? No shit. I would much rather put effort into finding some length baggy clothes then deal with the nightmare of the shirt sides being too short to tuck in
I’ve felt like my shirts are too long and started tucking them in for that reason. The symmetry looks nice and you can show off a belt. Also sweaters with elastic at the bottom can help to keep them in that cropped area that looks good
It is crazy that we were in an oversized era around 2016 with shirts that were even long called the long tee's. I had a couple myself. It was just the look back then. Weird to think that was 8 years ago now but yea I noticed right after that came the wave of box tees and I guess we are still in that phase. The crop look definitely suits taller people better. Being 5'7 myself I can't get into the cropped box tee look (unless I'm just delusional) but this is a good ass video lmao
a cropped box tee can work really good if you're on the shorter side depending on what bottoms you're using, color and posture. extremely baggy pants don't look too good the shorter you are and a cropped box tee won't help much either, but a longer or average length tee will make the baggy pants look much worse than the cropped tee would. i'm 5'7 myself too and honestly a cropped box tee looks really nice if i'm wearing straight fitted pants, but for baggy pants i go for slimmer or average widths on tees, and i crop them cuz it just makes the pants look longer so that's better
idk as a 6'2 person cropped or boxy fit clothing has NEVER looked right on me, i always look like im either in a way too small shirt, or if i size up the sleeves are too long and i look bigger than i am/disproportionate
It’s probably your pants. I’m a little taller and yeah, it’s because they’re a little too tight or too big and not really cropped anymore. Try pants with more flow or roll the edge of your fitted pants and take another look
Well then it might be the pants. It you're legs and torso are closer in length than not, than you might wanna try cropped pants with a shirt that has a length that goes 2ish inches past your belt line. Coupled together that should help give off the 2 to 1 legs ration that are brain likes. Like he said it's relative, and there's mroe than one variable, you just have to read between the lines with what he's saying. Cropped shirts and clothing in general work because they give a more defined ratio to your body proportions. With that being said, experiment with different length tops and bottoms in order to find a couple ratios that look good on you and your body type.
Dude you could look for shirts fit you right in the width i.e the chest and shoulders and with the Tees being longer than they are supposed to be anyway they'll prolly be longer than you need. Then you just get the the extra part hemmed.
thanks for always coming through with the tips for real man. Learned how to dress for my freshman year of high school from ur videos now i’m in my third year of college
A tailor can crop anything. Clothes are not manufactured to fit your dimensions. When you’re buying a shirt,, all that matters is the shoulders. When you’re buying pants, all that matters is the waist. You can get the lengths tailored to your dimensions easily.
I'm pretty tall so most shirt fit cropped on me. My fam always made fun of me cause they don't wanna see my belly when I raise my arms. So I'm just glad more people are advocating for this cause I don't have to do shit. 💖
I have quite wide hips, high waisted trousers and tucked in or cropped tops just are the most flattering for that figure in my opinion. I just look out of proportion in regular fits

2 months ago I was fashion devoid. Yesterday I took some scissors and cropped my black denim jacket
Here, lemme explain how this works.
Most clothes are stamped like widgets in big factories. To various sizes - XS, S, M, L, X, XL, etc. But people are not standardised and have various, ehm... "aspect ratios". Yes. Some people are fat.
When you are fat, you have to buy clothes that are larger in circumference. But the larger sizes are not just wider, they are also longer.
The same if you are short -- you buy for your circumference but the clothes will be proportionally longer on you.
On the other hand, if you are relatively thin like I am, you have to buy smaller clothes. I am 6 feet 1 inch and I typically buy S or M.
Because I have to buy clothes that are smaller in circumference, they also are automatically *shorter* than for most people.
Now imagine that you are seeing people like this all your life, every day. Your brain gets trained to recognise this.
We all collectively, subconsciously connect longer sweaters/jackets/hoodies with shorter/fatter guys and shorter sweaters/jackets/hoodies with longer/thinner.
Crop is essentially exploiting the subconscious connection created by our conditioning to constantly seeing mass market clothes on people of various shapes and sizes.
My thing is like what if I gotta do anything where my arms go up, then I’m showing my stomach and I can’t rock with that
