A girl I knew in my industrial engineering class literally had an Excel spreadsheet of every item in her wardrobe, that randomly selected a few pieces, and she'd wear it for the day. She had some wild ass fits that would always get comments. Sure they'd look amazing sometimes and funky other times, but that was just her 'thing,' and she pulled it off specifically because it was her 'thing.' But even as someone that's been doing the uniform idea for 7-ish years, I hella admired how simple and effective her approach was

a lot of people give me a hard time for wearing virtually the same concept every day and have said I "dress like a cartoon character" when truthfully I just don't own many clothes. I tend to wear the same basics (a cutoff denim vest with some minimal / obscure anime patches and black shoes w/ a hat of sorts) in the warmer months. Outside of that I'll switch up the shirt or the pants will rotate between slim stretch jeans or cargos, but I've found my "comfort formula" on accident. In winter I'm pretty well into techwear and layers and that's all p much mix and match within itself thankfully. I think having a "uniform" is kinda big brain though, at least people can tell I love what I wear every day and I never deviate super hard to where I look indecisive or like I'm trying too hard to explore other genres.

I came up with such a rockstar fit the other day by using the uniform system. Switched out the daily driver skirt for a funky one thats been in my closet forever and felt so cool lol.
I got into this recently and it's been fantastic. Always having those essentials ready to go and just swapping in a piece you want for the day makes it so easy to get ready.
I’m very much enjoying my “style sl*t” phase at the moment BUT I’m also starting to pinpoint the outfit formulas/uniforms I like most, and can see myself moving more towards those and pruning away the rest before too long
My man. This has been my mantra for the last 5 years when i found whats comfortable for me. Its been cost effective and time efficient. I only buy what goes well with my rotation. Then I just decide what color my top would be and easily have a pants/shorts and shoes on top of my head that fits with it.
This formula is probably the best kind of investment and timelessness especially when you figure out what suits your bodytype and taste. Pair them with the a few loud and/or experimental pieces once in a while, you get a good pace to enjoy fashion imo
Crazy to think that literally my whole wardrobe is just minimalistic blank tees and just plain skinny to baggy jeans with a pair of sneakers. To me I feel like people who try so hard on their outfit need to take it easy, yeah it is nice to go all out sometimes though I feel like it sacrifices the actual character of that individual; because they’re trying so hard and forcing themselves into an outfit to stand out it makes it a lot harder to find that basic style. To each their own, though I think it’s always a good thing to just have one basic fit
My “thing” is def shoulder bags cuz I love the utility of them and always knowing where my keys and wallet are is great. Plus I can shove any other random stuff I need
After using this style I can indeed say that it also did save my life as well, when I was being held at gunpoint with my boy he saw my fit and said damn bro ur lit at instead of shooting me he shot my boy who also had the life saving style on and the bullet rebounded off of him and hit the man it the 550’s high socks Eric Emanuel shorts and a 80’s vintage tee in the head
I been doing this uniform thing for a while , valid and I still curate other fits which makes it almost extra special to my friends when I wear something out of my uniform
Every style is a person's uniform in a sense. Even when that uniform may not match. It's an expression of who we are and a statement all in one. Been swagger boosting since swagga was swagg
probably your most helpful and useful video yet. I'm about to start doing this b/c i have no energy to create outfits but of course one wants to look good. thanks for this.
This is why it’s important to study other styles. The importance of a style like minimalism is not having excess cluttering your closet or even your mind. This also made me think of that Steve Harvey line about making hundreds of combos of outfits with just a few suits. Just find the pants, shirts and shoes you like to wear and with just 3 pieces of each, you have 27 fits. With each piece you add, your number of outfits grows exponentially
Try dressing ‘random’. Close your eyes, pick up a top, a bottom and some footwear. Wear them no matter how they look and experience the consequences. What this does is you end up wearing combos you’d never think of or thought would work - some will look horrid but it will be a new perspective, an adventure. The other benefit, no need to make decisions. Same as wearing a uniform except you’ve now got the added bonus of an adventure every time you go out in your ‘random’. And you’ll get some comments to boot.
Can't say this enough minimalism is not the answer to all of life's problems. Sometimes it's nice to be surrounded by stuff you like and a lot of people who go through a minimalism phase find this out to late.
my entire college career has been this. distressed black denim, white cropped tee/black cropped tee, light colour shoe. and i still get complimented on my “fits”. lol
This is my approach. It started when I was overweight so only certain pieces worked for me so I'd get them in different colorways, but now it's a style choice. I also wear all my pieces until they are falling apart.
im glad the title was so vague, hearing you talk aboutthis was cool. when u hear someone else say theyre doing a thing u do it sounds cooler than it was when you did it. im getting that vibe. minimal is the vibe, and it clears your mind, i think it could be nice to carry pocket journals, worth trying if u get interested, great vid as always bb mwah mwah mwah
I literally just had this thought this week about how I want to standardize my wardrobe more and this video couldn’t have arrived on my recommended at a more perfect time
I completely understand what Frugal is saying. To each their own. But as a New Yorker, putting on a fly fit and going out to the city (Manhattan) is an amazing experience. When you see other people checking out your fit, that unspoken acknowledgement ("Aii I see you") is awesome. Styling is also fun for me too haha. I challenge myself not to repeat the same fit, so a different fit everyday.
My apartment is literally boxes of clothes and my career already has a uniform. I think I'll continue indulging in choice fatigue before my milk runs. Living for your minimalism phase though!
Imma do this. I think a formula for each season is a good way to implement this. Once you have those down that’s when u can have some crazy pieces/outfits for special occasions or to shuffle around and experiment.
exactly !! i've had this "philosophy" back in junior high where i justed wanted to look like a cartoon character (dad), where they basically look the same everyday kinda thing; i always wore a tucked in shirt/polo + highwaist short shorts/denim pants combo and i always felt good about it
I think its best to have a "unifrom" and a bunch of crazy pieces so you can wear your uniform all the time but but together something new when you are in the mood
ive been creating my own uniforms for the past year without even realizing it. since i cant afford statement pieces / expensive pieces in general, i just wear what i feel comfortable w/ and play around w/ the silhouette. extremely simple, minimalistic, & i feel good wearing my fit.
I’ve actually been implementing this for like the last month and a half. I’m also getting rid of a lot of shit I don’t need any more. Minimalism is the wave
I never thought about it this way oml. I lowkey already have a uniform which I've seen as a bad thing. Tho now that you mention it it is SO much easier and boosts my confidence a ton. I won't shy away from the occasional diff outfit but 9 times outta 10 I'm wearing a t-shirt with a long-sleeved shirt under it, vans, and a choker and earrings. It's not super super simple or anything but it's not so complicated to where I drag my feet putting it all on. Plus, since it is so simple i can damn near can pick any shirt in ky closet and the layering and accessories make it look like I fr fr did something 🥴
I came up with having a uniform since May. I’m low-key excited to know that it shows how much I’ve grown in fashion I’m a student I have a uniform for each day e.g Monday is a sweater black pants and vans, Wednesday hoodie and jeans etc My friend also told me I somehow looked good everyday even though it was the same clothes every time Y’all should try it👍🏽
Yup I did this a few year ago. The amount of time & space it saves you is insane. I'm missing the cold weather though. I really wonna go back to my turtlenecks but its too hot right now lol. So plain t-shirts it is.
The next step is realizing that you can have a uniform and still sometimes spend an incredibly fun hour on putting a new fit together. The uniform is for practicality. Sometimes it's fun to be unpractical.
As someone with 80hd I can relate to you, 80hd might not seem bad until your in the middle of class trying to focus on a test but you can’t help but look around and fidget with anything you can get your hands on and because of that that you end up getting a terrible score
Yaasss!! a style technique a frugal person can agree with! I incorporate this technique in the way I dress. My stress level goes way down when I don't worry about picking which type of silhouette works best together. I just have to think about matching colors. Thank you for creating this type of content. I am not too big into fashion but hearing you talk about what you are passionate about is delightful (or could just be your humor haha) Keep it up!
Im gonna have to disagree, but I do understand and respect this viewpoint. You really hit the nail on the head with your uniform and it works well for you; good job Christian
Bliss Foster said something like « most people want to find a personal style so they can look good and stop thinking about fashion » And i think this videos is about that, find something that fits you, looks good, is unique, a signature fit and then you’re free from fashion But as fashion enthousiast, being free from fashion is not the desired end goal imo, your style is not something fix, it’s evolving. So i think the ideal solution is a mix of both. In every fashion show there are the « one shots » the cool new impressive clothes that represent the collection, and there is always the « basics » which is well the basics. View your closet as a fashion runway, you have found your signature basic, you know how to look « you » when you don’t want to think about clothes, you have your uniform, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t add and delete some one shots if fashion is your hobby
During college you would catch me wearing a T-shirt, gym shorts and some comfy adidas or AF1 any day. And even tho it was a common style (beach city in Brazil, warm af), because of the pieces I picked, the colors and the accessories, I was considered stylish even tho I didn't needed to think and was comfy af all the time. Uniform FTW Nowadays I'm messing around with more clothing styles because I've changed and I want to know what works in this phase. But plain t's, dress pants or loose jeans and retro runners are slowly becoming a uniform, so I may have an answer
I enjoy the what to wear decision, but I also appreciate the idea of a uniform. It would give me anxiety to embrace the concept, but it definitely one way to address decision fatigue.
i did this a while ago but consolidated my wardrobe to literally milsurp uniforms (no camo, olive drab and black) and green/black/brown collarless hippy-grandad shirts. can confirm, vast life improvement.
wait i thought everyone did this. once every 3-6 months ill put together a uniform and that's basically all I'll wear with slight variations for a season or two. makes it easier to justify expensive clothes too, you're gonna get some mileage out of it.
This seems pretty smart actually I might start this uniform thing as well I think it would be some chunky sneakers baggy jeans and depending on the weather or how I'm feeling a baggy T shirt or baggy Hoodie I think this type of silhouette really works for since I'm pretty tall and and somewhat muscular the big clothing sorta widens myself out so I don't look so tall and skinny
So true! On days your are sick or you need something quick: a uniform is so helpful. But for me, I still love a great styling narrative! Maybe because it’s my way to switched off from my 9-5 work uniform. Plus styling clothes are so fun.
Personally I like to build up my wardrobe with essentials and then plan outfits the day before so that I’m always ready and know what I wanna wear. Also the new vibe is great, good vid😊
I have a similar mindset about dressing up. It's a jacket (Usually bomber or Sukajan). Plain shirt and normal fit pants. Sometimes it's a graphic shirt, techwear cargo pants or other similar clothes. If it's a more street look I match it with my loud mismatched pastel shoes or if it's more normal clothes, I wear a pair of leather shoes. At least, the silhouette is the same. It's recognized by my friends and I think I look great wearing them. Pair that with the appropriate fragrance. This is a very nice vid. Thank you for validating my lifestyle. Hahaha
I did my know I’ve been doing this for the last 6ish months😂. About a year ago I found the best cargo pants ever. I bought 3 pairs and wear them every week. I eventually bought more, but just knowing that no matter what tee I wear they look good is great. My go to is a baggy short sleeve tee, cargos, and a pair of Jordan’s/vans/bulky sneaker.
Speaking on the uniform thing, I’ve been wearing the same underwear and pants for work/casual wear for almost six years. That alone has reduced a lot of stress for me. I’ve also found that I go through cycles of caring/not caring about fashion. Probably once every three years I give a damn.
So me. I hyperfocus on fashion for a couple weeks and then completely forget for months/years Trying to be better at paying attention at this type of stuff
also having a couple or few uniforms. it's like when ppl are versatile in different styles like americana, slp, streetwear, etc. just hone your fav styles, and then grow them and maybe mix them. you don't need to be able to rock every single aesthetic
I'm way ahead of this video my uniform is set and I look good 24/7 only problem is I started helping my friend out with his style uniform and he has been taking his notes on what I wear a little too well now I'm helping him deviate from what I wear as much as I can. Word of warning if you suggest clothes to people be prepared for the moment they take you on your advice and your staring at yourself when your friend comes over.🤣🤣
My uniform/formula throughout the years has definitely always prioritized my physical comfort. For the last 5+ years, it was my brown leather flops, khaki or black slim chinos, an all-over print or patterned t-shirt and whatever dad hat was closest to me lol. But then very recently I picked up this friggin rad simple white t with a small embroidered Snoopy sleeping on top of a little yellow smiley on the left side of the chest, and ever since I've been feelin nothin but black & gum Authentics, dark slim-skinny jeans, and a white t, and of course, whatever dad hat is closest to me 😂

Damn Rick changed my mindset. Thought I need to be more versatile but I can just do the least while still looking and feeling the best every day
This is why it’s important to study other styles.
I did a wardrobe reset, ordered only 5 fitted black tees, and wore my black jeans everyday, vans and brown boots. Now I must build on top on this.
@@Divosligo if all black looks good then go for it. Its seriously just what looks best on me most of the time.
I always felt this as a kid watching all the cartoons back like damn Ash, Tyson, Goku... all be wearing their same outfits everyday
And you’ll get some comments to boot.
i’m loving these recent vids way more than the ones two years ago.
i like ur new way of jokes instead of those “loud = funny” ones from 2020
Can't say this enough minimalism is not the answer to all of life's problems. Sometimes it's nice to be surrounded by stuff you like and a lot of people who go through a minimalism phase find this out to late.
agreed
my entire college career has been this. distressed black denim, white cropped tee/black cropped tee, light colour shoe. and i still get complimented on my “fits”.
The problem of having a minimalist uniform is that you’ll wear everything to shreds in a blink of an eye
Why?
Please please please do a video on where do get affordable good jewelry and accessories. Like a tear list based on quality, style, and affordability
I got into the habit of having a 'uniform' style from going on long international trips. Makes life so much easier, and packing becomes simple 😎
"as a New Yorker"
opinion discarded.
This was honestly the vid I needed
My apartment is literally boxes of clothes and my career already has a uniform. I think I'll continue indulging in choice fatigue before my milk runs. Living for your minimalism phase though!
hope your milk is ok and doesnt run
@@vjmcgovern I laughed way too hard to this lmao
his content is of another level... u have to be in fashion to understand this..this content are gem in fashion .
always known this from character design, happy to see this applied to the streetwear world
Imma do this.
So basically, we all cycle back to minimalism after all sorts of fashion 💅
No
ive been creating my own uniforms for the past year without even realizing it. since i cant afford statement pieces / expensive pieces in general, i just wear what i feel comfortable w/ and play around w/ the silhouette.
extremely simple, minimalistic, & i feel good wearing my fit.
I’ve actually been implementing this for like the last month and a half. I’m also getting rid of a lot of shit I don’t need any more. Minimalism is the wave
My standard go to is dickies 247’s, cuffed, oversized tee half tucked, and vans. It’s solid, simple, very clean. Great video!
I expect less because you told me too and you ended up going me more actual useful productivity info than hours or research has
I never thought about it this way oml.
"This content is free" 😂
I came up with having a uniform since May. I’m low-key excited to know that it shows how much I’ve grown in fashion
I’m a student I have a uniform for each day e.g Monday is a sweater black pants and vans, Wednesday hoodie and jeans etc
My friend also told me I somehow looked good everyday even though it was the same clothes every time
Y’all should try it👍🏽
Yup I did this a few year ago.
I love this free content
As someone with 80hd I can relate to you, 80hd might not seem bad until your in the middle of class trying to focus on a test but you can’t help but look around and fidget with anything you can get your hands on and because of that that you end up getting a terrible score
Yaasss!! a style technique a frugal person can agree with!
I incorporate this technique in the way I dress.
My stress level goes way down when I don't worry about picking which type of silhouette works best together.
I just have to think about matching colors.
Thank you for creating this type of content.
I am not too big into fashion but hearing you talk about what you are passionate about is delightful (or could just be your humor haha)
Keep it up!
Glad you caught up frugal. Been wearing this for years. Minus just chelsea boots. Blac on blacc on blacc. Love it.
Im gonna have to disagree, but I do understand and respect this viewpoint. You really hit the nail on the head with your uniform and it works well for you; good job Christian
That's exactly what I needed bro it's so simple but it makes life just... better. Thank you 🙏
Bliss Foster said something like « most people want to find a personal style so they can look good and stop thinking about fashion »
And i think this videos is about that, find something that fits you, looks good, is unique, a signature fit and then you’re free from fashion
But as fashion enthousiast, being free from fashion is not the desired end goal imo, your style is not something fix, it’s evolving.
Fellow bliss watcher🤙
I like your point
Bliss likes clown clothes 🤣🤡
Been binge watching so glad to catch a new vid!!
I really be rocking a stainless steel casio digital watch no matter the outfit
Yeah I love your style man. This is true I see you evolve when I watch older videos of you and how you look now maaaan Aaaaeesthetiiiic
Uniform FTW
Nowadays I'm messing around with more clothing styles because I've changed and I want to know what works in this phase.
But plain t's, dress pants or loose jeans and retro runners are slowly becoming a uniform, so I may have an answer
This the kinda thinking that got me through most of life. It’s so low effort and it’s great
This just kills the idea of having fun with your fashion and being creative with your ideas
I have to agree dude
Why is the editing so good!? WTH is going on! To whom have you sold your soul? No way one can be this good at two things.
best dude out here
I enjoy the what to wear decision, but I also appreciate the idea of a uniform. It would give me anxiety to embrace the concept, but it definitely one way to address decision fatigue.
Thank you Mr. Aesthetic
i did this a while ago but consolidated my wardrobe to literally milsurp uniforms (no camo, olive drab and black) and green/black/brown collarless hippy-grandad shirts. can confirm, vast life improvement.
wait i thought everyone did this.
once every 3-6 months ill put together a uniform and that's basically all I'll wear with slight variations for a season or two.
makes it easier to justify expensive clothes too, you're gonna get some mileage out of it.
“If you can do the least to look and feel your best”---------then you’re doing the most.
Hahaha
realist thing I've ever seen

i’ve learned so much from this channel lol helps me so much
You’re literally just an anime protagonist now
I did my know I’ve been doing this for the last 6ish months😂.
So me. I hyperfocus on fashion for a couple weeks and then completely forget for months/years
Trying to be better at paying attention at this type of stuff
you should probably wash those underwear, six years is a long time
also having a couple or few uniforms. it's like when ppl are versatile in different styles like americana, slp, streetwear, etc. just hone your fav styles, and then grow them and maybe mix them. you don't need to be able to rock every single aesthetic
I'm way ahead of this video my uniform is set and I look good 24/7 only problem is I started helping my friend out with his style uniform and he has been taking his notes on what I wear a little too well now I'm helping him deviate from what I wear as much as I can. Word of warning if you suggest clothes to people be prepared for the moment they take you on your advice and your staring at yourself when your friend comes over.🤣🤣
Being naked has changed my fashion sense, and my life. I’m now in jail for public indecency
So in other words you became a minimalist AKA a wish version of Rick Owens.
My uniform/formula throughout the years has definitely always prioritized my physical comfort. For the last 5+ years, it was my brown leather flops, khaki or black slim chinos, an all-over print or patterned t-shirt and whatever dad hat was closest to me lol. But then very recently I picked up this friggin rad simple white t with a small embroidered Snoopy sleeping on top of a little yellow smiley on the left side of the chest, and ever since I've been feelin nothin but black & gum Authentics, dark slim-skinny jeans, and a white t, and of course, whatever dad hat is closest to me 😂
dad hats for the win
@@jilliangreen8772 I always keep that thang on me
Unconsciously started doing this recently. Just clearing out most of my closet and just rotating and mixing and matching different essentials
