They don't make training kit and jerseys for athletes in cotton anymore because it just soaks up the sweat and gets heavy af. Rayon is a very high quality material (however it's pretty unethically sourced). So cotton isn't the be all and end all for clothing. It's just the jack of all trades type thing.
As an athletic/slim homie, I agree with the boxy/crop cut which also translates well to hoodies. Broader cut through the shoulders, cropped at the hem, slightly longer in the sleeve so it comes to about above the elbow, but not past it... thats just me tho
