The Olsen twin dolls probably were the best (replica wise) in my opinion. The dolls look identical to how they looked as kids/teens.

I've done a lot of character design work, and I think something a lot of the doll makers forget is that when designing a character based off a person, the version everyone has in their heads is very different from the actual living version, so when designing a doll you need to appeal to the version in people's heads. That means highlighting and accentuating classic/iconic traits of the actor over anatomical accuracy, and is why the Enchanted dolls look so much better than the scanned face dolls.
Just a few years ago Britney said that her dolls were ugly 😭

Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey dolls are absolutey amazing. Mattel did really great job for capturing their faces that translated into their dolls.
I actually have a Giselle doll, the fairytale wedding version made by Mattel. Her face is really stunning and gorgeous. You can really tell the she is Amy Adams by just looking at her face.

The only celebrity doll I have is the Barbie loves Elvis and it looks amazing, they really did a good job portraying him. Also the Barbie is a reproduction from the 60s. Love those dolls

There are some Mattel Destiny’s child dolls that are absolutely beautiful! The Beyoncé one looks spot on. They come In long, elegant gowns and are definitely on my holy grail list, but they might be really rare...

I didn't have that phase, I've always wanted to keep my toys forever. I have an aunt who threw away my cousin's toys without her permission and I'm mad at her for it.

I had of course the Spice Girls, and New Kids on the Block, and the original 90210 set, and the pink and yellow ranger dress up barbie style dolls from the OG power rangers. But I also had Brandy. Brandy was probably my favorite, she was super cute and her braids were so pretty and well done.

I think it's funny that nowdays any celeb willingly approaches and collaborates with Barbie to make a doll of themselves. Then they feel Grandiose.
Yet Britney's doll was made very basic barely resembling her and they sold out constantly. To this day her dolls continue to sell online at a high price and still sell out.

Have you ever owned puffy ami yumi dolls? I remember that I wanted those dolls at the flea market I was gonna buy it but, I was a little embarrassed what my father think. That was 11 years ago I was 14 at the time I wanted to buy those ami yumi dolls so badly because It’s the first J rock band I got into at age 9 and never too old to listen to their songs.

Honestly, I feel like celebrity dolls would be better if they made them more cartoonish. Either they try to make them look exactly like the celebrity and fail miserably, or (in very rare cases), they get it right and it's just creepy. They're better off doing more of a stylized kind of thing. Like what I think they were trying to do with the Gwen Stefani doll.

Whaaaaat I totally think the Britney dolls look like Britney !!!! I could immediately tell... not by the outfits but by the face too. The doll's eyes are sunken in just right, same cheeks as Britney, same brows, same smile, same lips. Britney never had HUGE lips. I want to try and find one now. I can't believe people don't think it looks like her. I guess we all truly have different perspectives haha

i bought a Barbie Ferrari 3 years ago in it's original box. When i took the car out of the box, i was pleasantly surprised to find that the seller included (what i thought was)a blonde barbie. The doll fell out of the box face down on my couch.
When picked the doll up to identify its face, i screamed and threw it across the room.
i was NOT expecting it to be a Britney Spears doll.
It legitimately frightened me.
i tossed it in the garbage shortly after.
I loved the Kylie dolls when they came out, I think the only weird thing was the hair being so blonde rather than the more dirty golden blonde she usually has. I always loved the indsay Lohan doll, used to be obsessed with that outfit!

We have accumulated many celebrity dolls over the years. We are in the midst of a doll purge. I need space to hang my bathtowel. For Pete's sake, I live in NYC where SPACE is more valuable than GOLD!
Here are some of the celebrity dolls we've accumulated that fall into the fashion doll (11-1/2") category.
Diahann Carroll as Julia from the the tv series (American) by the same name. The 1968-71 series was the first to feature an black woman/person as a lead character in a television series. This doll was by Mattel. We collected both the talking and non-talking doll and all the outfits. The talking doll still talks
Diana Ross by both Mego and Mattel. Both are nice dolls. Mego is a nice, quality doll from the 70s. The Mattel doll captures Diana Ross's persona well. The face sculpt isn't perfect but the dress and box are on point.
Mattel's Cher -- It's the whole presentation. The face sculpt is good. Again, it's the box and outfit that do the do. I also have Mego's Sonny doll. Can't decide if I want to get rid of him. The face sculpt is one of the best I've seen. For those who loved Sonny and Cher, he's spot-on!
I just gave away a Dylan from the American television series 90210. Do I know who this character is? No. My husband tells me he has passed away and that doll is now valuable. Oh well. I hope ER, the collector I gave him to, appreciates him. Yes, in box.
We have a few Erika Kane dolls. Outside of America, I suspect, she means absolutely nothing. In America, she was a daytime soap opera star played by Susan Lucci. Fans love her and Erika.
I know nothing about sports. However, i have Kobe Bryant and Dennis Rodman dolls. Dennis Rodman did a publicity stunt in the 1990s when he made a public appearance in a wedding gown. Got that doll. Also have an out-of-box DR. Nice doll.
Madonna refused to sign off on a doll in her likeness. However, when she starred in the Dick Tracy movie in 1990, part of the contract addressed the use of her image in marketing. The compromise with Disney was that a doll in her likeness could be merchandised as her character, Breathless Mahoney. My husband's big Madonna fan. That doll ain't going anywhere.
We have original Star Trek Barbie gift sets. We have one that we are going to sell because the box is messed up. If I sell it on ebay the opening bid will be a penny.
Finally, we have a Lucille Ball Barbie in box. I don't think tht's going anywhere soon.

My husband just got me the Cruella Deville doll in red from the greatest villains collection from the live action 101 Dalmatians movie. It is by far the most beautiful doll and looks exactly like Glenn Close it can pass as really her in pictures. I plan on getting the black and white version as well. I also have a Brittney doll from way back when but unfortunately do not have the original clothes anymore.
