It's less than half the price. Mi Band the whole damn way.
If you buy the Mi Notify & Fitness app for a few dollars you'll get so many more custom options than the official app that it makes the Mi Band 4 and even greater value. The app also calculates your sleep differently than the official app. I paid $33 off eBay for my Mi Band 4 and it is incredible.
One thing worth mentioning is the social aspect with Fitbit. You can invite friends and family and compete on steps daily. That's fairly motivating and if you already have friends/family with a Fitbit, it might tip the scale for you.

Thanks for comparing these two fitness trackers, I've been thinking all day about which one suits me best. I am definitely more concerned about the data from the tracker, and I am definitely eyeing on Fitbit. It might cost more than the Xiaomi, but that's the one I'm leaning more.
Have had a number of fitbits, the last being the charge 3 - all rubbish, customer service non existant - bluetooth never works, forums fillled with thousands of complaints. Returned the charge 3 and the store didnt even blink, said they get so many back its ridiculous. They definitely have the brand but thats it. Went and bought a MI Band - and its awesome, and in our country 4x cheaper than the fitbit - no brainer really.
I don't want to look at the tracker all day so display is not a priority, I just want it to do it's job properly i.e step tracking, sleep tracking, heart rate tracking and workout tracking. I pick fitbit. If you are very tight on your budget then Mi band is definitely a good option.
Thank you Lexy, another solid comparison between two very popular devices, I think for different reasons but popular for sure. I am team Samsung Health with my Samsung Watch, I find it to be the most accurate out of all fitness trackers. Have had just about every other fitness tracker in the Fitbit family as well as every Apple Watch series, several Chinese devices and Samsung seems to be the most accurate for me.
Mi Band 4 with a great battery life and the bright amoled color screen. Got few other smartwatch... MiBand 4 is my go to smartwatch when travelling because of the battery life. Used to have a fitbit and I agree on the app... Fitbit app is better.
Thank you Lexy! I have the Fitbit inspire hr, but I am thinking of buying my brother the Mi band 4! You are the best, thank you soooooo much for this review!🤗
Dunk with soapy water for 5 hrs everyday. Never leaves my hand. Super waterproof. Running shower water will activate the screen Bought it because of 20 days battery life ! It's a basic superlight fitness wear. So cheap , bought some to giveaway ! Lots of colourful straps and face to choose. Can't beat the value for money. Amoled screen !
Heart rate accuracy on the MI band dramatically improves when the band is more snugly fit to your wrist. I think that's why the results seem better when working out, as your wrists swell up a bit when they're hot. Also the 'loop' of the stap should be towards you, so if you're wearing the strap on your right wrist, you should flip the module in the band. This could also cause misreading of the heart rate.
Nice review, thank you. But I think you should wear them on the same hand to compare. For example I'm right handed and definitely moving my right hand more than left. :) But still pleasure to watch 🙂 Thank you.
Thanks so much for watching! And great point, but these apps also let you indicate which wrist you are wearing them on (dominant or non-dominant hand) so I set those appropriately AND also wore them independently on my left wrist as I'm right-handed too :)
Short answer: mi band screws up sleep and heart rate tracking. If it can't do those right, what is it good for? That's kind of the whole point, isn't it?
Wouldn't say this is the case, rarely it does get odd readings but I've had good success with it so far. Happy especially with the other benefits and at half the price of the Fitbit

Great detailed review 👍🏻 I own the mi band 4 now for around 2 Weeks and i have to say i don‘t have any of the problem you had. I wear it 24/7 and the resting heart rate it shows me in the app ist pretty accurate. I let it messure my heart rate every 30 seconds and i don’t get any measures that don‘t fit in. I barely wake up at night but the 2 or 3 times i did it represented it quite well. Perhaps you are an active sleeper and your movements and your heart rate is similar when you lie awake in bed.
Thanks, Ingo! Good to know you haven't had the same issues. I have definitely noticed the resting heart rate getting better with each software update, so hopefully it will be 100% soon for me!
Research before you speak don't rely on I'll buy it because it's bUdGeT sMarTwAtcH and does it have what Honor band 5 has lol but in terms of accuracy of gathering data of Mi Band 5 is a trash.
My ancient (2015) Fitbit Charge HR still does a very accurate job of counting my sleep time. I just bought an Inspire HR but haven't had time to use it yet. I hope it does the same good job of that. (My Wyze band doesn't do nearly as good a job.)
Thanks for the insight. I have had a FITBIT ONE for over 5 years and FITBIT has just cancelled it. I also have an APPLE Watch 4. The problem most of my friends and work colleagues, that have wrist style fitness devices is the straps. The straps are constantly needing replacement because their longevity is very short. The other thing FITBIT just did was updated their software to include a battery % number on the IOS APP. After all these years and numerous suggestions the FITBIT software now gives a battery % number now that my FITBIT ONE is phased out and when this one dies I will not replace it because I have my Apple Watch. Finally since FITBIT and APPLE falling out I have replaced the FITBIT scales with a QUARDIO 2 that is compatible with APPLE Health APP. Bottom line the APPLE Watch is always the best choice! Thanks
Question for the Mi Band users, can it track all the calories burned throughout the day and not just during workouts i.e. even when i am sitting, lying down, etc.?
Why you didn't mention that Mi band doesn't count all day calories? It's a deal breaker for me. Two years ago I bought mi band 2 after a ton of positive reviews to replace my broken polar and I was very frustrated 😤 I was getting about 900 cals in the evening after 1.5 hour in the gym and 1 hour 10k run.
