I can see increase in step counts while being in the car or driving or taking bath...is this something that can be controlled

Most of it is shot with Panasonic Gh5 and 15mm lens, or with the Sigma 18-35mm with adapter.
I was looking for a pulse oximeter in case I got Covid19, and ended up getting the Honor Band 5. I didn't even realize it was a fitness band until I got it. I decided to try it out once on my daily exercise, even though I'd always thought fitness bands were a useless gimmick. It turns out to be very helpful in keeping my heart rate in the correct range (I was actually exercising too strenuously). Now I use it every day.

I just purchased honor band 5 just because of accuracy of measuring. Both heart rate and oxygen level also sleep tracking function is perfectly fine.

The Honor Band 4 can do that. For Mi Band 4 you can make this work with Notify and fitness for Mi Band.

Can any of these bands deactivate the automatic exercise tracking? My problem with wearables is it keep reading my motorcycle trip as cycling.
None of these do automatic tracking - so you will be fine with your motorcycle adventures :-)

Yes. For the Mi Band just select a face that displays time and heart rate info. There are many to pick from online.

Nope that's not true. The honor band 5 is cheaper and it has better sensors. Also honor added lots more wallpapers on the honor band 5. The honor band 5 has more features it also calculates oxygen (SPO2)

You will barely find a good tracker with GPS tracking. The Honor Band 5 doesn't have GPS either.

Only if you want precise GPS tracking. If not - the band will count the steps, give you estimated distance and count heartrate/calories.

Got the Mi Band 4 yesterday for a tenner, honestly can't complain about it, does everything I want it to do.
It is an excellent band.

As far as I remember it is a glass screen so it's fine. Having a protector is always good.

I definitely agree with you. This is a fitness tracker, so data accuracy is definitely the most important point here.
Did you not hear him say honor band 5 would add 25% more steps to the counter. Doesn't seem much accurate to me. 🤷
@@nilaydidolkar It's very accurate. But not "live", meaning the counter doesn't increase +1 every step. It gets updated after you walk for a while, sometimes 20 steps or more. Step tracking is about 95% accurate for all these bands. It's the heart rate or sleep tracking that some are lacking.

I read somewhere that Honor band 5 does not have outdoor cycling feature for all phones, limited only to Honor phones. Is this true?

It had the Cycling option with the oneplus 7, so probably it is not locked to Huawei devices only.

What is the Mi Band measuring? 9:24 I can see which software is better, the Honor even detects its not strapped on. Glad I made the right choice earlier today, I was reading reddit for the last few days on reviews between the two bands.

It was not actively used - that's why I said "insane standby"; It was actively used on the the first 4-5 days after the charging and then it was left on my desk.
It was actively used in the first 4-5 days, and after that - just laying on the desk. Which doesn't take away from the great achievement. Most bands will have their batteries empty in much less time in standby.

Having 50 days with normal usage is not possible - as stated this is mostly standby, with 4-5 days of normal usage.

The Mi Band 5 is expected to be a nice upgrade, but I guess the HB5 will remain a fantastic choice even after the release of the new Mi Band.

Good review. But as with any fitness tracker, it lacks actual fitness tracking comparison, such as running (which is the easiest to try), with and without GPS (connected to phone). The overall usage will be towards sport activities, so measuring their accuracies with real life examples IS necessary for a 1on1 comparison. Maybe next time try to focused on these features.
Again - would be a good idea for you to check the second part - with the focus on the smartphone app, where you have these examples.
music control is one of the imp fearures for me
Honor Band 5 already updated, it has music controls too, today.
You forgot to mention the killer feature on the Mi Band 4 - it has music control. This is the only reason I use this instead of my Android Wear watch. Without this feature, smart bands are not so smart

Julian can you tell me if you found a way to control music while using the band for sports activity? I can't figure it out... seems like it would be kind of stupid for them not to allow you to control music while cycling or walking... so I think I must just be missing something.

Both work on my samsung phone, so you shouldnt have any problems.
It will work fine; All they need is that your phone supports bluetooth devices.

Do these watches answer/make calls via Bluetooth?
They don't. Just show you the notification.
I have a mi band 4, it adds about a 1000 steps or more for a 30 min drive. It does not detect me waking up unless I got out of bed. Yeah, the battery life is great but the performance not there - I was excpecting a lot more.
Mine does not have any of that problems, you should ask for another one fixed
Have you recently applied any firmware update? Because the latest updates improve the accuracy a lot - and it has been the same with Mi Band 2 and 3.

How accurate is the pedometer on the Honor 5 as of now (March 2020)?
You're mileage may vary. But mine was accurate from the start. We tested it with 2000 steps. It measured around the 1950-2050 range. We did 3 tests daily for a few weeks.

Both are good for calories burned. But honor band 5 is certified by Harvard Medical School for TruSleep technology. xiaomi has poor sleep tracking, but better battery.

Hopefully Mi band improves charging dock that doesn't need to remove the watch panel from band. I like my band 4 tho.
You will have to use it only 10-15 times per year, so that's something we can live with 👍😊
mi band 4 works as expected, much better than Samsung band, BUT - i dont like the shape of it- its too proud on the edges. My very first band was QS80 - it was shit and their app was shit, but the band has had a curved shape and fit under my shirt cuffs easily. Mi4 heart rate is pretty shit with little hairy wrist, it needs to be put inside the wrist ower the veins in order to work. MI4 needs better algorithm for step counter as its counting steps while driving
