One of the best descriptive videos I've watched of ANY of the automotive videos I've tuned into past years! As mentioned by others, no annoying music, very clear and informative without a bunch of "fluff" in it and very well spoken (not a lot of uhms in it)! Thank you young man!
not a big fan of the "uhms" Thanks for the comment and for watching. Let us know if you have an questions! Let us know if you need parts: www.ebay.com/str/midnebraskamotorsports
Can you explain what you mean by performance parts added that require the adjustments to the needles and set points. This part seems vague. Why would the carb have these settings and what parts would make us have to change these? Bigger tires?
So me and my buddy just done all this. Put new jets in and float needle. But the float bowl is still bone dry and no gas coming out of the carburetor to the engine. The gas is on with no filter. What else could be stopped up? I was going to blow air into where the line hooks to the carb and hoping clear out the vein. Any advice?
use Mopar penetrating fluid to soak your jets in and spray in holes and let sit , carb cleaner and ultrasonic cleaner don't even come close to getting them as clean , it will blow your mind , trust me its a must try if working on carbs alot
Copy that. Do you need my address to send me some? 😄 Thanks for the comment and for watching. Let us know if you need anything! www.ebay.com/str/midnebraskamotorsports
My old Honda 300 started easy when cold, I have a 2009 Rubicon and it's always started hard cold, all my friends also say that too. Could I raise that throttle needle one slot in the adjusting slots to help, also good and helpful video.
When I got a rebuild kit, it came with a new needle and the holder, How do I remove the holder? Or should I leave the old one in and just use a new needle? You show the part I'm talking about at 12:13 of the video. Do I have to remove the bowl, then main jet, then pop the main jet holder out from the top down? Thanks
I have a 2007 Honda trx500 with electric shift option. Originally the bike would drive normal but would die at an idle due to a dirty carb. I had a friend clean the carb and jets which solved the idle issue but now the bike stalls out around 20 mph or when you press hard on the throttle. I purchased a rebuild kit and replaced all the jets, needle, air fuel adjustment and float plunger. This still didn’t solve the issue. I’ve also tried adjusting the air fuel screw which doesn’t help. I’m convinced at this point that the carb is flooding out because it actually takes off if you put the fuel to the off position but dies quickly when the fuel used up. My friend thinks it’s something electrical like the cdi but I’m guessing something with the carb as it worked fine before he took it apart. Any advice?
My bike wasn’t idling before, so I cleaned the carb and now it idles great but whenever I give it throttle it kills instantly. I thought maybe it had something to do with the needle so when I took it back apart and inspected everything I installed the plunger/needle the same way you did but when I hit it with air the piston/plunger does not go up as yours did in the video. But it obviously goes up by hand. Any suggestions?
I have a 98 450 Foreman and cleaned my carb per ur video. I stripped one of the 4 screws that hold down that top plate, it was the one where the hose is in its way a little, the one u said u can use pliers to get it off if it's in a good spot. I can't find them anywhere...can u help?
I’m sure it’s a little late now, but you can buy a carb rebuild kit at your local Honda dealer for around $25 and it includes all new screws (including the one you needed) along with all new parts/jets, etc.
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports @Mid Nebraska Motorsports I feel dumb, it was the plug, it would fire on starting fluid, but not on gas, first for me, at least the carb is clean as new now. haha..
Hey, I replaced all my jets to factory ones and now I can get it to fire...what did I do wrong? I took the gas a air back 2 full turns too...could it be a wrong float?
if you could take a few minutes to help me out it would be much appreciated. I have a honda foreman 450es and i rebuilt the carb following your directions to the T. Heres the problem. when i put the carb back on it fired right up no problem and idles perfect. But when i give it gas it bogs down. if i pull the choke out and give it throttle it runs perfect. i adjusted the fuel screw as you said and made adjustments and literally nothing changes. I have no clue what the problem is. i have tested this with the air box on and off and it makes no difference. i also replaced the spark plug. no difference. im lost.
I would like an opinion on this too. I cleaned the carb on my buddy's foreman (done it many times before without problems) and ran into the same problem. I watched this video hoping it would help. I'm now lost as well.
Well unless you are good with a soldering gun, I would just replace the heater/harness. Check out our ebay store, we might have one for you: www.ebay.com/str/midnebraskamotorsports Thanks for watching.
ATTENTION: Those posts are extremely fragile! Just broke a post trying to remove the float pin. I’d recommend leaving the float installed and just cleaning with it in place unless you are having an overflow issue. $300+ mistake.
This video is excellent. Just thought I’d throw this out there for someone else who might make the same mistake. New carb just arrived. Going to use your pointers for checking that the adjustments are all correct. Thanks again!
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports Haha, no, I am an idiot for breaking the post but you won't ever catch me putting Chinese crap on my Honda. She's running great thanks! On the plus side it is nice to know that the hoses and other exposed rubber is now fresh and not so brittle.
Clean it well and 95% of the time you don't need to rebuild, but if you do, it's exactly like this process. Just using new parts instead of used. Thanks for watching. I do have another video coming out soon using the moose carb kit and replacing most of the parts (rebuilding). Keep an eye out for it!!
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports I've got a 02 450 foreman , started earlier today but I left the choke on by accident and it shut off , and ever since then 5hrs later still will not fire , has spark and is getting gas to the carb but just coming out the back, not making it in the motor ....would could be wrong with this carb ..
No BS music, fast paced, showed me exactly what I needed to know. This is the way all how-to videos should be made. Keep up the good work.

Great video with the right amount of information. Having never worked on a carburator before this gave me all the info I needed clearly and concisely.

If I’m doing just a basic rebuild, is there any reason to adjust that needle?
Is the choke needle supposed to come out, mines wont come out
