videogamedunkey It really is, I'm loving knack on my pro. The high frame rate really makes the game better it seems, since the reason I waited all these years to play it was because of the poor reviews and everyone said it was bad but if the 1080p/60fps version was the launch game I think the narrative of how knack was received would be very different.
I guess this is PlayStation Foundry now.

That's true, the developer can't optimized it very well. I just tried the last tomb raider on my friend ps4 pro. And the 4k version is amazing.
The standard isn't bad either. This is for anyone who care 4K resolution.
I'm gaming on my 32" 1080p TV. I just curious what the ps4 pro resolution looks like with my own eyes. That's it.

Dislexic Potato People exaggerate how bad the game is. The Order had a compelling story, setting and characters.
The only gripe was, the gameplay was basic 3rd Person and it was really linear and basic boss battles. If Ready at Dawn stepped up those features in a sequel, the game would be superb.
Their engine is insane.
Generations Gamer I quite liked it but it has its problems. my main gripe is its too linear and too brief. it's about 25% cutscenes as well. still the shooting is good and I never experienced a single bug. pretty rare for a big game

I think they removed some light sources (thus no shadows) in the High Res Mode.

That high FPS mode seems promising few hiccups here and there.

This was pretty interesting, is there any video talking about how you guys do the amazing FPS counter and frametime counter on console games? Never seen anything else like that on other similar channels. -- That paired with this dual game play system really makes your channels comparison videos something else.
woah look at all these effects missing in the 4k mode starting at 3:47 . So yeah I'd say it's very likely that this along with the missing shadows is a bug

What resolution does the games play on with it set to Automatic?
From the PS4 front-end? That would output whatever is the highest available depending on the screen, HDMI interface and HDCP version.
SteelSkin667 so every time I select higher frames in any pro game, I'll need to go to video output and take it off from automatic and set it to 1080p? Or does setting the game like knack to higher frames auto adjust the resolution by itself?
Kenneth Mitchell I don't know about Knack but from what I've seen, some games have a setting directly in the game menu. It is on a per-game basis really.

I notice the 1080p PC monitor has more accurate color compared to the game capture than the 4K TV does.

PS4 Pro is complicated because devs don't tell you what they have actually done to the PS4 Pro versions of their games. So the only way to know the resolution/fps and other settings is by watching DF test them. Their content is good
+CodeNameZ yes, but that means you have to buy the Game first, I know Steam Refund is something of a lifesaver at the moment, but it really Hurts when you drop £40 on a Game and find its only hauling 24FPS on a GTX 1080...thus forcing a refund, you dont get that Pain when you can use a channel like this one USED to be to see how the Game is Performing, or not, on the PC first as then you know not to buy the Game untiil its been patched.. IF it even Gets patched that is! .

I am very pleased that Digital Foundry is actually chosing to review these things on a PS4 & PS4 Pro, seen no one really cares that much about the xbox one. Lets be honest 74 million ps4's vs 12 thousand Xbox Ones sold! Anyway love the show! :)
74 Millions & 12 Thousand!.....More than 50 million Ps4 according to sony units vs 25 million for Xbox One (According to VGZ chart,still no official statement from Microsoft).Xbox One sales in NOVEMBER alone were around 1 million.Even the Wii U sales were more than 12 thousand (13 million) so i don't really understand where did you get these numbers.Also,They shouldn't focus on one console just because it's the "most sold" otherwise it'd be more logical for them to focus more on the 3DS since it's the most sold gaming console.......
DrLove 69 There's a big difference in OG PS4 and Pro. Xbone and Xbone S is very minimal. DF are always gonna be running in high FPS and high resolution for PC. It's better to do PS4 since it's hot. Expect them to shift to Nintendo Switch and Scorpio once they release for more comparisons.

1000$ Yeah right. Your numbers are far off. You can build a 1440p capable PC for far less than 1000$ Especially if you go with older parts. As even 1st and 2nd generation i5s and i7s far out perform the PS4.

I am completely fine with Digital Foundry making a lot of PS4 Pro videos, but at the same time it is sad to see that so many PC ports and releases were not covered.
I hope the team will set PC videos to a higher priority during future console releases.

Though I don't think they would be able to replicate the movement like that.

High fps mode is so much more pleasing to the eyes and especially to the brain when actually playing the game. I don't understand why can't console makers market it. I could think about a dozen ideas right away, maybe they should hire me.

the XB1 S it's the exact same good old xbox one, with only a small OC to the GPU, in most cases it won't make a difference, in fact they already covered the few ones that do benefit, it's the CPU that's is the bottleneck with these machines, not the GPU. It wouldn't make sense to give it a much coverage.

All you people complaining about PS4 Pro coverage, what the fuck do you expect? New more powerful console hardware was just released and they're reporters, they report. They'll do the same when the Scorpio decides to come out, months of Scorpio coverage back to back. They're doing a lot of videos on the PS4 Pro because there's nothing else significant going on right now.

There are tons of ppl who play on pc in new games like watchdogs2( 0 coverage for pc version from df, while previously before pro came out, we would get 2-3 videos about it, mainly settings comparision and improvements over console and performance video on max/ultra and how to keep stable 60fps, third one would be comparing midrange systems vs console versions)
Thats just 1 example.
Now once ps4pro came out we get only pro videos, nothing for huge subscriber base that plays on pc.
Are you ever doing PC videos again? There isn't a point for me to stay subscribed if I'm only getting Playstation videos in my sub box.

1080p60 should be the focus for Pro. 4k, or close, at 30fps is so technicaly unbalanced it doesn't even make sense!
Sony couldn't even be bothered to put in an optional 30FPS cap for Knack. With a 30FPS cap in high res mode. It could probably gain back the missing shadows and be totally stable. That's what ruffles my jimmies.

the high res mode suck big time. no spinning wheel 3:45 and 3:49 . the door has no shadow on the ground when opened 4:22 . no shadow on enemies 6:09 . and no shadow on fence 6:18
so many better games that we all would like to see at this point of view, hope to ser a better game next time, Like Watch dogs.

Playing on PS5, and the high resolution mode is stable but the shadow problem is actually even worse. I think the game looks better overall in high frame rate mode even though both hit 60, honestly.
fps mode is a no brainer. Ill take frame rate of minor resolution upgrade. Looks better on monitor than tv.
What fascinates me is people that knock the ps4 pro for not handling 4k in most situations. Of course it doesnt. But it is still playing games at a higher resolution than the standard console, or any console out there at the moment. 1800p is still pretty darn good. In a lot of cases, the older consoles cant even do 1080p. So sure it cant do what Sony said(as usual, *cough* vita *cough*) but it is still a great leap in quality over the base system. I am excited to see what Microsoft can bring to the party, but even then, its all speculation at this point. If you want to play 4k games, PC is the only option, but the price is at a premium.
