Some Thing Yeah and that's what I'm getting at, why couldn't they have a performance option where you use settings similar to the multiplayer and get 1080p 60fps in singleplayer?
1080p60 with some graphical improvements should be the focus with the Pro. 4k (or close) should wait for 9th gen, for hardware powerful enough to handle it with no cuts and downgrades.
Its about priorities. If you think about it, most shooters, racing games, sport games, fighters, etc already run at 60fps on current gen consoles, and many of them does look amazing (Doom, Battlefield 1, SW Battlefront, etc).
Sergii Cherniavskyi Yeah I am just saying though frame rate is tied more to the CPU than the GPU you could put a GPU equivalent to a Titan XP in a PS4 Pro if that was possible yet you would never be able to achieve 4K 60 simply because the CPU would bottleneck the system way too hard.
TheBrokenMonkey the HDR is enabled in the menus and it came in an update. They are not on seperate discs. Deus Ex is the other one on the base PS4 with HDR.
@WhoDarestheMAN gamer "soupy 1440p", really, when 1080p is the standard this gen, because remember these console upgrades are the exception not the rule, so calling 1440p bad is like calling 1080p bad, when most gamers are still on base consoles.
that's bullshit. sure, it is more important in multiplayer but 30 fps is still just crap. doesn't matter if it is sp or mp. the controls are sluggish AF in every game.
Mwalker you can't see a difference here cause i got it and this video don't even come close to what i see in front of me. you can't view 4k in regular hd you have to actually be in the same room with it, its pointless to even try to compare the screens cause they ALWAYS gonna look the same. thats the beauty of 4k you see the benefits in your house nowhere else, so skip the comparison its a waste of time
i really dont think uncharted 4 is the stand out game this gen :D really far from it ... in fact i dont think this gen even has a stand out game yet.... hopefully that all about to change with god of war, horizon zero dawn and days gone :)
Dang, the Pro is just becoming more amazing with every game! Everyone need to have an SSD by now if they can afford it though, they make such a big difference! I couldn't go back to stock drive now on either PS4! :)
Did you pay any attention to the video? He did not compare an ssd to the hdd in fact the default harddrives of both systems were used which have the same speed so this had nothing to do with hard drive speeds. However again they recently made a video comaring SSD to HDD and there was only a difference of a few seconds which is not anywhere near the difference an ssd should make.
Agreed. I figured out how to get my HDR to actually shine by turning the backlight all the way up and adjusting all the contrast levels to the highest settings and I can honestly say it has the best graphics I've seen to date. I'm playing ROTR and I will even go so far as saying it surpasses the PC even with native 4K as long as the PC doesn't have HDR. You can't see ANY judder from the 30FPS in HDR and no one has yet to mention this.
if you want better load times it is cheaper to install an ssd and the framerates don't improve in many cases and in some of those they even get worse, so that doesn't leave much of a compelling reason to get it unless you have psvr which is expensive and not all that many people want when you compare their numbers to the people that don't care enough to spend $400-$500 on a headset and $400 on a new console to use it.
9:16 The Twelve Towers battle theme kicks in. This game's soundtrack is magnificent. What a masterpiece Uncharted 4 is. Anyway I picked up a PS4 Pro last week, and am getting a better tv in two weeks. Can't wait to see my UC4 running on it.
furthestfromthesun. Guys, it's just the beginning. Most games I. The pro, weren't made for the pro originally. The again, 400 more from the original most you tubers say is not worth it. I was hyped, but now ima just keep my lastest model PS4 OG
I bought the pro, and even though its a great system, its NOT what we were promised by sony by a LONG way. I don't quite feel ripped off, but its pretty close. And no UHD was a fucking idiotic move.
furthestfromthesun. keep telling yourself that cause you don't see a difference on this video lmao, this how i clearly know you don't have a 4k tv and if you do you still don't understand that you can't see a 4k visual on a hd screen. the pro pretty much max out regular hd tvs so what you getting is the best they can do i really don't know what people are expecting from a standard hd tv. if you waiting for Scorpio they not doing 1080p at all, either upgrade your tv or be left behind
Kempes SFA for this game, except for that one part. so $400 for slight resolution bump on 1 game? every other game is shit and runs worse than base ps4 lol.
MAGIK BANANA me? if so just go have a look at digital foundry's other videos. besides this game and last of us everything else runs like shit on the pro.
It's actually kind of amazing how a lot of these comments are talking about how 1080p 60 FPS should be the focus for the system but we never got that. People just didn't understand the reality of the situation and How much of a bottleneck the CPU was for the system.
The frame rate was decided a long time ago for the single player. That means everything was designed around 30FPS. They would have to rewrite a lot of code to attempt to optimize it for 60FPS. Unfortunately it's not just as simple as adding more power as they locked down the framerate. If the single player had been designed with a variable frame rate in mind, then it would have been easier. But Naughty Dog are about consistent quality hence why they locked the frame rate during development, so they could gamers the best consistent experience. As with most things, its all in the planning.
+FairyCakeEaters Where did Naughty Dog say they based the single-player around the fact it was 30 FPS? Naughty Dog said it was locked to 30 FPS due to the graphical fidelity of the single-player compared to the multiplayer. Programming the single-player off of the framerate would be a horrible idea, and if they did, then that means they made, to some degree, a different version of the game than the multiplayer, which would increase the work needed to be done on the game. It'd be easier to cap the framerate in the single-player.
and then the rest of us still waiting for that 60FPS single player update lol. Not really that improved. Not living up to the Pro name with that. Loading is improved but still kinda slow. That multiplayer though 1080p 60FPS is a good update.
The update in single player is bigger then it is in MP though, the MP was already 900p/60fps, a 180p difference is not gonna do much, and no person with a sane mind would have expected the SP to run at 60fps, it's just not gonna happen if you are using the same CPU, only overclocked. And that is clearly the bottleneck with U4.
Ps4 Pro was never meant to be some kind of new generation, it's just a improvement on its base, and focusing on quality IMAGE, not performance! I really try but i dont get your cries about current consoles, if you want some 60fps experience, just go for PC, or wait for the NEXT generation of consoles. Maybe they will focus on performance as well, until there they'll have more reasonable hardware on the industry to build it without costing an arm!
The Pro was NEVER about anything more than PSVR (where it really does help a lot). Sony panicked when scorpio specs were released and changed the Pro from VR VR VR to 4K 4K 4K, even though its hopelessly inadequate. It would be piss easy, comparatively, for devs to patch 30fps games to look exactly the same but run at 60 instead, were sony not breathing down their necks and forcing them to spend more time getting older games running at higher resolutions rather than smoother.
Will you please stop with the Pro only videos? We know its pointless by this point unless you don't have a PS4 already. Dishonored 2 seems to be running extremely bad on Xbox One I'd like to see a performance test on it please?
I have this on the pro - the upgrade in resolution is amazing on almost all games, especially skyrim and even shadows of mordor but the slight dips in fps don't make me happy either. Early days, but it was well worth the price...FF15 and the future games like Horizon are what will really make me excited.
HEXONE4LIFE it's how they made the console. they lower the resolution and fps. it's how they use power to make still work that made the performance lack
...because that is not possible. The PS4 Pro just isn't strong enough to push this game at 60fps. The GPU is a lot faster but the CPU is not and memory bandwidth is a real issue. A lot of PS4 Pro releases are struggling to run as well as they did on a base PS4 (at higher res) already. There's no way they could get UC4 running at 60fps without a major overhaul to the game. It was never going to happen.
Well, look at it this way - it's akin to upgrading your GPU. It's like going from a GTX750ti to a GTX970. It's not a new console in the traditional sense, just a GPU upgrade. If you own a 4K TV, though, it makes a lot of sense since the image it puts out is a pretty big improvement. I don't really think it's a "casual" product, as in, I don't think the average gamer is going to notice or care about the improvements. It's a very niche thing indeed.
John Linneman exactly ..the greatest benefit is for people with 4k TVs and if you have a 4k tv then the difference can be quite big. It's going to be disappointing for people like me who don't have a 4k tv yet and crave better visuals and framerate. The reason we're seeing so many people saying "there's no difference, the Pro sucks" is because of the fact that unless you have a 4k screen you won't be able to see the difference in these UA-cam vids.
Unless you're a software engineer at Naughty Dog, you have no idea whether it's possible on the Pro. Sounds like you're just making excuses for Naughty Dog when plenty of other developers are able to achieve 60fps on Pro for their 30-targeted games.
Another great video. I'm going to be installing a Samsung 850 Pro SSD 1TB drive tonight, & looking forward to even better loading times than i had when it was in my original PS4. Example, GTA5 on 1st PS4 with standard drive, loaded in 5 & a half minutes. With the SSD, 1 minute 6 seconds, a huge improvement
I really reckon Witcher 3 on ultra would look better than it, especially with the expansion. MGSV is also a fantastic looker on PC. Could probably mod skyrim yourself to look better than it too and they'd all be capable of 60fps. Uncharted 4 is great to look at, Just the 30fps is a no go for me. I can't play videogames with what feels like treacle inside my controller.
Uncharted 4 may be pretty but there are better looking games on PC due to the higher power available and as +Cogglesz said, the framerate is a big issue for many people. Besides, the Uncharted games aren't really award winning because of gameplay, it has good setpieces, but moment to moment gameplay is heavily reliant on these and if it didn't have them it would be a very poor game as the gunplay and stealth are below average.
Has anybody with a pro tried dark souls 3, bloodborne, or witcher 3 yet? Those are to me the games of the generation, but all 3 could benefit a lot greater from improved framerates than uncharted could
No. I still recommend the Pro because it's only $100 more and is superior to the PS4. If you have a 4K TV with HDR then the PRO is a must. HDR and the checkerboard upscale in PRO enhanced games really make the visuals pop and is noticeable improvement over the base game. It's just that a huge amount of games like Destiny, the Souls franchise and Witcher 3 are left behind as only newer titles have PRO support going forward.
I don't play alot of games anymore since I analyse my footage afterwards on a framerate-analysis tool. It turned out that the experience what I thought was epic was bad in reality. Thanks to the framerate analysis tool I know how unplayable the games really are!
AJ Singh I think that because the xbox one is weaker than the standard ps4, the is no point to include it in a comparison. ps4, ps4 pro and PC are the best 3 now.
Light Yagami I know, but right now everyone is talking about the pro. next year is going to be pro, scorpio, and pc. xbox one s and ps4 slim won't be included anymore, or at least not in deep review.
Everyone should know things like smoke and fire being close up to the camera affects frame rate on any type of system. If you own a shooter that has smoke grenades, throw it and stand in the smoke and see how the frame rate drops. However, they usually get deliberate fire and smoke in the camera optimized for consoles.
I hope TLOU2 will have a 900p60 mode on stock ps4 and a 1080p60 on pro Excluding 1080p30 on stock and 4k checkerboaring at 30 on pro. I think they will do that. What do you guys think?
The PS4 Pro only cost me $150 to upgrade after selling my launch PS4 unit. When you factor in the much faster GPU, faster CPU and DDR5 memory bandwidth, better wireless, 4K capability, improved internals and quieter system overall, it was definitely well worth the upgrade. The improved performance and visuals will come soon enough as more patches are released. I'm primarily a PC gamer but this is a great little gaming system for the money. The fact this is only $100 more than a regular PS4 is pretty incredible given the added features and specs, the GPU alone is 2.5x more powerful. Very happy with it!
I think they wont until a patch is released for the PC ver. where tis causing fps and graphic issues due to the files being set on a diff. number, etc. (like a file is set to 1 but is supposed to b set to 0, for example.)
I just got the pro yesterday and let me tell you there is clear difference but keep in mind this isn't a generation bump so if you have a 4k tv or 1080p tv you will get either enhanced visuals or higher resolution but it also depends on the dev.
Can't the ps4 pro interpolate frames to generate the illusion of greater smoothness, like they do in VR? I'm still waiting for that feature to be used together with native 4k in some games, to create a virtual "4k 60fps" while only having to render 30, thus avoiding CPU bottlenecks. Maybe not in a game like this, but in simpler titles, it should be possible.
Have you ever turned on SmoothMotion+ (or whatever each manufacturer call it) on yout TV? Its absolutely disgusting and makes AAA movies look like cheap soap operas. We DON'T want our games to be that way!
+Mike Caddick what you are describing is based on the interpolation of the rendered frame. what the ps4 uses is geometry information to complement the image information, with much better results.
The differences seem so marginal between the Pro & OG that it just doesn't seem worth the investment. I'm expecting a much bigger jump between Scorpio & XB1. Wish Sony would have waited another year.
many aruge that the PSPro and XBS should have been the their next gen systems in the first place. Yeh, I know, we would've had to wait 1 1/2 or so yrs longer but, eh..
i will say i was impressed initially with the clarity and lack of shimmering on uncharted 4 for the original ps4. would be interested to see this version in person soon, see how it stacks up for my own eyeballs
That's the problem they have. Sony pitched 4K too much and left the 1080P/60FPS option to the devs. I'm glad SquareEnix devs are trying to get 1080p/60fps with FF15 like they did with Tomb Raider. I just hope other devs follow their example.
It's harder to hit 60fps on consoles, than you think. The ps4 pro's cpu is just slightly overclocked and not very fast compared to for example ryzen 5 or 7 cpus. You don't actually need much more cpu usage for higher resolutions. so the only logical way is to target a higher resolution. Completely locked and synched 30fps are enough for a singleplayer experience. Only modes are most of the time at 60fps. There are also games like gt sport, that run in a high resolution and 60fps.
Please have as stage a video for ps4 pro en tv1080p vs 4k to see if 1080p wins frame rate because my hope to acquire the pro and to use it at 1080 resolution to see if it has better frame rate
There are so many fanboys in the comment section. Not surprising. People saying to wait for the Scorpio. Others comparing the PS4 Pro to the original Xbox One (which is stupid in it of itself). There are others who are upset that the Pro is deciding to target a sub 4K resolution at an unsteady framerate instead of a locked 60 at 1080p, all settings maxed out. It's all just more reason to get a PC. Sure, for the price of the Pro, it'll be impossible to get a PC that matches its visual quality. However, spend a couple hundred extra dollars, and you'll end up getting a much better experience overall. You'll hit resolutions above 1080p (even 1440p) with a rock solid 60FPS, maybe even higher, with all settings maxed out, such as in Battlefield 1 (the Pro runs at an 1880p resolution at medium-high settings at a very unsteady 60 FPS target). Not only that, but you'll also get the advantages of PC gaming. Free online multiplayer, mods, cheaper games at launch, unlimited customisation, thousands of exclusives, and much more. If you get a thousand dollar gaming PC with a 1070 and an i5, not only will the experience be much better, but it will pay itself off over time (depending on how many games you buy a year, and how much you play online). Best of all, you don't need to wait for a new console to be released to get better visual fidelity. You simply need to upgrade your components when a new GPU comes out. You don't need to, of course. A 5 year old PC will still outperform the Xbox One, and PS4. Now, am I here to advertise for the PC community? Somewhat. I've switched from the Xbox One to PC gaming a few months back, and don't regret it one bit. I think everyone deserves to get the best experience possible.
Uncharted 4 is sooooooooo overrated , and give the script of the last of us to Tarantino , Scorsese or Vince Gilligan and they will laugh in your face *drops mic*
"for the price of the Pro, it'll be impossible to get a pc that matches its visual quality". Please stop spreading nonsense to people that don't know any better. You can ABSOLUTELY get a pc for 400 dollars that matches the quality of the ps4 pro. All you have to do is get a gtx 1050 ti. Look up 400 dollar pc's (recent ones) on youtube, and you'll see that with a 1050 ti, you can play most modern games in 1440p or 4k at high-ultra settings. Also, a pc can do SIGNIFICANTLY more than a console ever could, so to not get one because you think it's "more expensive" is absurd.
Austin Oh, and just so you know, the 1050ti isn't capable of 1440p/4K60 at ultra settings. look at the benchmarks. It falls short of GTX 970 performance.
I wasn't okay with the performance on the base PS4. The framerate dropped below 30 way too many times for my taste. I was really hoping for 60 FPS with the ability to disable that insanely overpowering motion blur on the Pro. Instead we just get more drops below 30, and more severe ones when the PS4 also drops at the same time. Another failure for the Pro.
Pro version looks very similar to original. Just goes to show how amazing the original on the PS4 is. I may have expected a 60fps for single player on the Pro though.
Since PS4 runs it 1080p in single player then it won't be hard to get 900p on xbox one in this game if it ever get ported But multiplayer they might have to drop it for 720p for stable 60fps
I dunno. Take away how good it looks and you've got a pretty boring almost-on-rails-climbing simulator. I kinda think GoW4 is more deserving based on what The Coalition have been able to do with the xbox hardware and the unreal engine, plus, you know, GIANT FUCKING ROBOTS. Which is always a good thing.
This is incredible! Good thing i held out on the playstation 4 console. this will be coming very soon. Keep the PS pro content coming! I know its very early still, and i want to see if the bugs will get ironed out with patch or somthing. This thing is to beefy to be on par or worse than its lil brother!
邵涵 very easy, there's no special tricks. Basically it's like this.... *1) the controller is connected to PS4/a with USB,* -the controller tells PS4/a "my wireless ID #1234" -PS4/a then remembers "controller ID #1234 is player 1" *~so far, this is just the normal way to connect a controller~* *2) now you connect controller ID #1234 to the second console* -obviously PS4/b is setup close to PS4/a -now PS4/b also saves controller ID #1234 as player 1 *3) you have now programmed both PS4's to use #1234 as player 1* -all inputs to the controller are carried out on both PS4's at the same time -both consoles are running the same game -the game worlds are rendered in perfect scale to each other, -hence the ability to ply on both TV's simultaneously The only thing special here is having 2 PS4's side by side. If you've ever been to an electrical retail outlet and you see dozens of TV's for sale, I purchased a new TV last week and I saw it in action, they can use one TV remote to turn on all TV's that are the same brand. Same thing for this video.
Booker DeWitt The controller also saves what PS4 it is connected with my dude. That is why you can turn on one ps4 without turning both on at the same time.
To all the people complaining about the game not getting a 60fps framerate, please keep in mind that game engines developed for console games (especially first-party titles like this one) have physics simulation and rendering based on the framerate and synced with the 30fps target. Bumping the framerate up to 60fps would mean to rewrite the physics engine almost from scratch... you should atleast understand this.
Everyone with even some basic programming knowledge should understand that, and every high-end gamer or tech enthusiast should get some of those basic knowledges before even considering talking about being part of some kind of masterrace.
TheWarTube I don't believe that uncharted 4's engine is tied to physics. Mainly old games had that a lot, like gta san andreas. But uncharted 4's engine is the same as the last of us's engine (I could be wrong, but it is unlikely) and tlou does run at 60 without physics problems.
I think you meant 30fps @ 1440p as mentioned in the video. PS4 Pro is just not capable of running Uncharted 4 at an actual 4K resolution in any way. GG for sony fooling everyone though.
2k resolution on console for 400$ and people still angry.. dude seriously what is wrong with you? 4 month ago ps4 was 400$ now you get pro for that price .. yeah sony really messed up here they should have released more powerful console for 700$ ... look at it as price/performance not only performance you get what you pay for.. and dont tell me that you can build much better pc for 400$ which can run games at 4k ( even if its upscaled) thats big bullshit.
Geek 838 Absolutely. for 400 bucks its a great deal, Just comparing it to PC is a bit gimped. most people on that platform always target 60 so the requirements are way higher on PC, hence the price gap. It needs to run twice as fast most the time. Though i don't understand why price is such an advantage to people. People who really love to game with the highest fidelity will not mind throwing 1000 into a computer one day that could last them 10 years.
Boy im glad I didn't become an early adopter of the pro. I'm sick of hearing the only upgrade is resolution or frame rate. I was hoping for added effects and increased lod etc. Maybe this will happen in future games but well have to wait and see. Good video as always though DF!
x DirtyOldMan Bob wtf duh. it's $400. you know the same price as the og ps4. on that stuff again I see. Wtf $500 come from. if it was $500 doesn't make better, but more expensive then $400.
Hey guys, great video, as always :) Are you guys working on any of the newer games that have come out? I'm interested to see how Dishonored 2 and Watch Dogs 2 run, as well as what differences there are with the Ezio collection.
julio alcantara yes there is. I've been extremely satisfied with my ps4 pro. Uncharted 4 looks a lot better with the improved resolution showing more detail. It especially helps the multiplayer no longer running at a sub-1080p resolution. I also played several hours straight of the last of us because I was blown away by how good native 4K looks and then that's not taking into account all the other pro supported games I played like Rise of The Tomb Raider and the significantly faster wifi. It has been a very good purchase and well worth it if you like me do nothing but play games in your free time.
I already own a PS4 and I own last of us on both PS4 and PS3 I beat last of us on the PS3 and only played it a little on PS4. the small bump. in resolution isn't that big a deal. I'm going to get a high end 4K TV in 2017 and wait for the Xbox Scorpio the PS4 pro is a baby step from the standard PS4
If they can do 1080p and have a consistent 60 fps, that's more than enough for me. If they can patch the game to further optimize it for Pro that'd be great. It's weird that The Last of Us had issues. Hopefully they patch it up to let it run better. Would it be different with a SATA III SSD??
I don't know. If you're not planning on getting a 4K display, the PS4 Pro feels kind of pointless. Even if you get a 4K display, it still feels sort of iffy. They should have done something similar to the Scorpio, the Pro generally seems to be gasping for air due to weak hardware too often for comfort.
The scorpio isn't even mentioned or talked about by Microsoft yet. We still don't know what to expect from the console. For all we know it might perform not that much better then the Pro depending on how developers utilize its hardware but we'll see.........
SebHighDef What's sad? I wanting the game to perform better so it can be better enjoyed? How is preferring better and smoother gameplay sad? I'm just saying I'd rather play at 1080p at 60 fps than 4k at 30fps.
People should go back to 2005 and replay King Kong on the 360, which was a launch title for that system. Play it back-to-back with something like Tomb Raider in 2013 on the same console and you will wonder how they were both produced for the same console. The point is that dismissing the Pro because of poor launch efforts on games that weren't even originally optimized for that console is kind of pointless. The differences will be much more significant in a few months, let alone a year.
Especially when all games are going to MICRO TRANSACTIONS AND LOOT CRATES....NO THANK YOU. I WONT BUY ANOTHER GAMING SYSTEM. IM GOING TO START COLLECTING RETRO SYSTEMS. FORGET NEXT GEN AND THEIR GREEDY RIP OFF LOOT CRATE GAMING.
Sony can make 5 consoles but where are the games? u4 is the only one I bought cause there is nothing else and played it for a week no replay value what so ever.
CEWIIH really? u must be under a rock then there is lots of people complaining about how this generation Sony drop the ball with lack of their games which is true. I don't want games I can play in other consoles where is socom, s filter, Resistance and others games that made Sony great?
Aby Power god of war, Spider-Man ps4, horizon zero dawn, Batman arkham series, infamous, shadow of war, dragon ball xenoverse, the last of us remastered, bloodborne
***** Pro is not worth it if Uncharted 4 is the only game you play. Check out the performance improvements on Battlefield 1 and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Or not if you have already decided to hate everything.
emko333 im playing it on a 4k 50 inch tv and im also not blind... only way i could see a difference is if i stand right in front of the tv... not a big improvement at all here.. other games have been patched much better than this
Got both slim and pro on their launch Day and lemme tell you i have 4k tv i use hdr on my slim and it is almost same on pro. 4k isnt native and isnt big upgrade. Also slim is cooler and quiter. My pro is like jet sometimes.
1440p is all well and good but I don't care about that, I just want a console that can actually do 1080p 60fps.
Tryte Thats up to the developers. Not the hardware.
Some Thing Yeah and that's what I'm getting at, why couldn't they have a performance option where you use settings similar to the multiplayer and get 1080p 60fps in singleplayer?
I think the devs want the campaign to stay 30 fps or below for a more cinematic feel
Get the Xbox one x then.
Calvin Gudgeon or a pc
1080p60 with some graphical improvements should be the focus with the Pro. 4k (or close) should wait for 9th gen, for hardware powerful enough to handle it with no cuts and downgrades.
Never going to be possible on the PS4 Pro since the CPU just an overclocked version of the weak AMD chip used in the original.
Its about priorities. If you think about it, most shooters, racing games, sport games, fighters, etc already run at 60fps on current gen consoles, and many of them does look amazing (Doom, Battlefield 1, SW Battlefront, etc).
Nick9572 clearly it's possible. It's in multiplayer. But the visual trade off is not worth it and never will be for single player
Paulo Lameiras how much data for patch would i have to download for playing in 4k format??
Are we just going to ignore the teleporting woman @ 1:57 ???
Thats some grade A teleporting tech right there.
Right!?
Lol i was searching for this in the comments.
She just walked faster
easter egg
Nobody:
Woman at 1:57: _I am_ *SPEED*
Picked up a 4K TV this week and the HDR on the base PS4 on Uncharted 4 made it totally worth it. The game really comes alive.
Yup the HDR mode on this game is amazing.
TheBrokenMonkey the HDR is enabled in the menus and it came in an update. They are not on seperate discs. Deus Ex is the other one on the base PS4 with HDR.
David Tobin not really u4 isn't a big jump from PS4 to pro. I have 4k tv pro it's just a res upgrade
David Tobin i bet that input delay is horrendous.
@WhoDarestheMAN gamer "soupy 1440p", really, when 1080p is the standard this gen, because remember these console upgrades are the exception not the rule, so calling 1440p bad is like calling 1080p bad, when most gamers are still on base consoles.
they look so much alike. I would have preferred they went with 60 FPS. visuals were already good
You get 60fps in multiplayer where it counts.
Mwalker They couldn't go with 60FPS in single player. The CPU is the bottleneck.
that's bullshit. sure, it is more important in multiplayer but 30 fps is still just crap. doesn't matter if it is sp or mp. the controls are sluggish AF in every game.
Mwalker you can't see a difference here cause i got it and this video don't even come close to what i see in front of me. you can't view 4k in regular hd you have to actually be in the same room with it, its pointless to even try to compare the screens cause they ALWAYS gonna look the same. thats the beauty of 4k you see the benefits in your house nowhere else, so skip the comparison its a waste of time
big legacy I have a Samsung KS9000 4k tv. So I just need to get a ps4 pro to try
Absolutely amazing game, the stand out title this gen.
Keep the Pro content coming DF.
i really dont think uncharted 4 is the stand out game this gen :D really far from it ... in fact i dont think this gen even has a stand out game yet.... hopefully that all about to change with god of war, horizon zero dawn and days gone :)
how about persona5 and ff15, Nier2/ninokuni2 ?:P
ff15 and nier2 seem very interesting and would probably turn out to be great games but not sure they would really stand out
dont even know any of those games so they can't be stand out
it's a engine problem idiot, watch the video, FFXV has 1080 60
Dang, the Pro is just becoming more amazing with every game!
Everyone need to have an SSD by now if they can afford it though, they make such a big difference! I couldn't go back to stock drive now on either PS4! :)
Uh yeah no DF just made a video that showed that an SSD does very little to improve loading times on PS4 or even the Pro.
there arent enough playstation 4 exclusives to make it worth it.
Ken Freeman out of curiosity what TV do you use for HDR?
so basically if you don't own a 4k TV with HDR. stick with the standard PS4.
Or if you have a psvr
Or you want better load times
Or better framrates
Collin Cassidy Better framerates? Not in TLOU.
if you want better load times it is cheaper to install an ssd and the framerates don't improve in many cases and in some of those they even get worse, so that doesn't leave much of a compelling reason to get it unless you have psvr which is expensive and not all that many people want when you compare their numbers to the people that don't care enough to spend $400-$500 on a headset and $400 on a new console to use it.
30 FPS On the Pro? Gentlemen that's not acceptable .
Since the GPU is more than twice powerfull, they should allow 1080p 60fps
Game looks good but I honestly expected more out of the Pro.
It's fine. Paired with the amazing visuals and higher resolution it's quite alright
+HEXONE4LIFE
Meanwhile, 614p resolution on the Xbox One S is acceptable in 2016 😂
I wish they had made the system more powerful. I have no problem paying extra for a system that can perform better.
1:57 I do love the glitchy woman on the left side. That made me chuckle.
The more I see of the ps4 pro the more I'm convinced that I don't need to upgrade from my OG ps4
furthestfromthesun. well then you should look at the performance on battlefield 1. Major difference.
furthestfromthesun.
Mike Caddick 🆘👈xbot
furthestfromthesun. keep telling yourself that cause you don't see a difference on this video lmao, this how i clearly know you don't have a 4k tv and if you do you still don't understand that you can't see a 4k visual on a hd screen. the pro pretty much max out regular hd tvs so what you getting is the best they can do i really don't know what people are expecting from a standard hd tv. if you waiting for Scorpio they not doing 1080p at all, either upgrade your tv or be left behind
1440p for a $400 box sounds good to me, as long as the framerate is consistent, which it is.
Kempes SFA for this game, except for that one part. so $400 for slight resolution bump on 1 game? every other game is shit and runs worse than base ps4 lol.
no it doesn't narcissist douche.
MAGIK BANANA me? if so just go have a look at digital foundry's other videos. besides this game and last of us everything else runs like shit on the pro.
Not even TLOU manages to keep it's 60FPS
Nihilus well there ya go lol. this "pro" isn't very pro. not even Sony can get a stable framerate on first party titles? terrible.
It's actually kind of amazing how a lot of these comments are talking about how 1080p 60 FPS should be the focus for the system but we never got that.
People just didn't understand the reality of the situation and How much of a bottleneck the CPU was for the system.
The alpha effects play back at full 30fps speed on the pro rather than the half speed on base ps4. It’s very noticeable on sparks and bullet hits
Damn. All I wanted was 60fps...
The wait continues for us my friend for the smooth experience :(
Lauren Berns III wait for PS5 Pro and Uncharted ReSuperMaster 4
The frame rate was decided a long time ago for the single player. That means everything was designed around 30FPS. They would have to rewrite a lot of code to attempt to optimize it for 60FPS. Unfortunately it's not just as simple as adding more power as they locked down the framerate. If the single player had been designed with a variable frame rate in mind, then it would have been easier. But Naughty Dog are about consistent quality hence why they locked the frame rate during development, so they could gamers the best consistent experience. As with most things, its all in the planning.
Uya İpek 😂
Also sony definitely stated performance wouldn't change that much between the systems; go figure..
It is overclocked........ The bottleneck is real.
Uncharted 4 is already a gorgeous game and to me it felt very smooth.
Will you please stop with the Pro only videos? We know its pointless by this point unless you don't have a PS4 already.
Dishonored 2 seems to be running extremely bad on Xbox One I'd like to see a performance test on it please?
Nobody cares about Xbox One.
Brecondo (Sovereignty Yo) that's why it keeps leading sales you stupid fanboy
Dale Doback the Pro just released like a week ago, why the hell wouldn't DF do some videos on a new piece of hardware?
Chill dude, no need to insult people.
Sales are only recently on the rise reported in October. Leading in sales one month is different then in total. Show the facts, google is your friend.
I really wish more developers would give us a reduced graphics 60fps option. I have a huge amount of respect for those who do!
0:12 I thought he said "PS4 Protesting" and thought "yeah, there's been a lot of that around here lately"
You don’t even know
There’s a lot of protesting all around. Your comment aged well
So did the captions
I have this on the pro - the upgrade in resolution is amazing on almost all games, especially skyrim and even shadows of mordor but the slight dips in fps don't make me happy either. Early days, but it was well worth the price...FF15 and the future games like Horizon are what will really make me excited.
Lol still can't even hold 30fps....Unchanged 4!
I agree it's a disappointment. They should have waited another yr and released a more powerful console.
HEXONE4LIFE it's how they made the console. they lower the resolution and fps. it's how they use power to make still work that made the performance lack
Marc F I can sense your subtle anger through your post.
Im glad i upgraded to ps4 pro.U get boost mode super sampling better framrate. The fan is more quite. The original ps4 sounds like a vacuum cleaner
so why not make it 1080p 60fps with more on screen affects??? sony still thinks resolution means graphics!
...because that is not possible.
John Linneman ok thanks..so the ps4 pro really is in a pickle then ist it?
Bit of a waste of money to be honest.
What a beautiful game and running at 1440p on top of that. I'm certainly happy to get such great graphical fidelity on my favorite Sony properties.
Hello DF, from Brasil 💪👍
Gabriel Santana you crazy. it was a masterpiece
tim cato I'm sorry, I didn't understand
Another great video. I'm going to be installing a Samsung 850 Pro SSD 1TB drive tonight, & looking forward to even better loading times than i had when it was in my original PS4. Example, GTA5 on 1st PS4 with standard drive, loaded in 5 & a half minutes. With the SSD, 1 minute 6 seconds, a huge improvement
cant wait to buy it again on the ps5 just for the 60fps experience -_-
Shit better be 4k 60 on ps5
uncharted 4 still looks better than anything on pc or xbox 720p
Big gay Al not really
Well it's locked to 30
What do you expect?
Also ryse looks better than uncharted 4 on PC ez
its a corridor shooter dont compare to big open games....
1:56 wtf just happened?
lol
I love how every second of Nate's experience would normally kill, or maim a normal human. xD
Has anybody with a pro tried dark souls 3, bloodborne, or witcher 3 yet? Those are to me the games of the generation, but all 3 could benefit a lot greater from improved framerates than uncharted could
Brandon Marks none of them have PRO patches yet? So theres no difference at all
They're not patched yet and without a patch the Pro only uses half of it's GPU power thanks to Sony's incompetence.
Kexin so should I just get a normal ps4?
Kexin the original ps4 has hdr so why buying a ps4 pro
I don't play alot of games anymore since I analyse my footage afterwards on a framerate-analysis tool. It turned out that the experience what I thought was epic was bad in reality. Thanks to the framerate analysis tool I know how unplayable the games really are!
wot
Why aren't you covering Dishonored 2 and Watch Dogs 2 Xbox one vs PC vs PS4? I'm so tired of these pointless PS Pro vids.
AJ Singh I think that because the xbox one is weaker than the standard ps4, the is no point to include it in a comparison. ps4, ps4 pro and PC are the best 3 now.
Osvaldo T Really, your Joking right?
:SARU: : which do you think is the reason ?
Light Yagami I know, but right now everyone is talking about the pro. next year is going to be pro, scorpio, and pc.
xbox one s and ps4 slim won't be included anymore, or at least not in deep review.
Pointless he says.
Everyone should know things like smoke and fire being close up to the camera affects frame rate on any type of system. If you own a shooter that has smoke grenades, throw it and stand in the smoke and see how the frame rate drops. However, they usually get deliberate fire and smoke in the camera optimized for consoles.
I hope TLOU2 will have a 900p60 mode on stock ps4 and a 1080p60 on pro
Excluding 1080p30 on stock and 4k checkerboaring at 30 on pro.
I think they will do that. What do you guys think?
ha
Haha
Hahahahahahahaha
Hahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahah
Ahahahahahahaha ps5 Ahahahahahahaha
Guys... where is Dishonored 2 analysis on PC and consoles? PLEASE !
Mike Caddick We're talking about games here, not movies. Games will always look better at 60.
It'll not work good with 30fps games.
+hydzior Because of the imput? In first perdón games that are not twitch shooters it should work fine.
The more of these pro videos I see..the more I feel better with my og ps4 like it reinvigorated my interest in it.
The differences seem so marginal between the Pro & OG that it just doesn't seem worth the investment. I'm expecting a much bigger jump between Scorpio & XB1. Wish Sony would have waited another year.
umm UC4 does not run on XB1 or Scorpio...
many aruge that the PSPro and XBS should have been the their next gen systems in the first place. Yeh, I know, we would've had to wait 1 1/2 or so yrs longer but, eh..
It's a huge difference you have to compare them your self on your TV like i did it's night and day.
i will say i was impressed initially with the clarity and lack of shimmering on uncharted 4 for the original ps4. would be interested to see this version in person soon, see how it stacks up for my own eyeballs
This fake 4K gimmick sucks. Sony get your shit together and sell the Pro as a 1080p@60FPS Console and maybe then i buy it.
That's the problem they have. Sony pitched 4K too much and left the 1080P/60FPS option to the devs. I'm glad SquareEnix devs are trying to get 1080p/60fps with FF15 like they did with Tomb Raider. I just hope other devs follow their example.
They can get 4k but not 60fps because of the weak cpu so even if they drop to 1080p the 60fps is difficult cause the cpu only got a little overclock.
Frame rate is about the same, PS4 pro has a small edge in some scenarios.
1440p which means sharper image is the main difference.
Watching this reminds me that I haven't gotten around to play this yet, bought a few months ago when it was 30 dollars off.
Brad Oxford but still Ps4 has some of the best games as exclusive...
Austin Did you not read my comment? MY ENTIRE COMMENT WAS ENDORSING PC GAMING
Such an awesome game just as good as the last of us. Cant wait to see what naughty dog does next.
Pro version looks very similar to original. Just goes to show how amazing the original on the PS4 is. I may have expected a 60fps for single player on the Pro though.
Still better than Xbox One's 720p.
Since PS4 runs it 1080p in single player then it won't be hard to get 900p on xbox one in this game if it ever get ported
But multiplayer they might have to drop it for 720p for stable 60fps
U4 MP is so fun i just got burnt out on it for playing it so much since launch but getting back into it soon
Uncharted 4 is GOTY 2016... xBots cry
Adrian RS no doubt! no game this year has rivaled it. That fool crapgamer said gears 4 was better....😅😅😅 man I was in tears!
Adrian RS god bless you my child.
Mike Caddick ?👀
Mike Caddick yeah because the visuals are why it received so many high ratings...smh
This is incredible! Good thing i held out on the playstation 4 console. this will be coming very soon. Keep the PS pro content coming! I know its very early still, and i want to see if the bugs will get ironed out with patch or somthing. This thing is to beefy to be on par or worse than its lil brother!
How do you use one controller to play two consoles simultaneously?
They have some way of splitting the signal from their controller.
Think it might be a Female to Dual Male USB.
邵涵 very easy, there's no special tricks. Basically it's like this....
*1) the controller is connected to PS4/a with USB,*
-the controller tells PS4/a "my wireless ID #1234"
-PS4/a then remembers "controller ID #1234 is player 1"
*~so far, this is just the normal way to connect a controller~*
*2) now you connect controller ID #1234 to the second console*
-obviously PS4/b is setup close to PS4/a
-now PS4/b also saves controller ID #1234 as player 1
*3) you have now programmed both PS4's to use #1234 as player 1*
-all inputs to the controller are carried out on both PS4's at the same time
-both consoles are running the same game
-the game worlds are rendered in perfect scale to each other,
-hence the ability to ply on both TV's simultaneously
The only thing special here is having 2 PS4's side by side.
Booker DeWitt Thanks
ill wait for Scorpio!
daeux why not both?
Well the good news for that is it's almost 2017.
Let's see if they can truly get Max settings on all games with no compromises and a smooth 60FPS.
So you're going to settle for 720p 30fps for a whole year if not more? Enjoy! LOL
wait the scorpio can run unchated 4 ?
SlimCargo
Awww, you want me to include 900p too to ease the pain? LMAO
Nah, you are expecting too much from an average gamer
Everyone with even some basic programming knowledge should understand that, and every high-end gamer or tech enthusiast should get some of those basic knowledges before even considering talking about being part of some kind of masterrace.
TheWarTube I don't believe that uncharted 4's engine is tied to physics. Mainly old games had that a lot, like gta san andreas. But uncharted 4's engine is the same as the last of us's engine (I could be wrong, but it is unlikely) and tlou does run at 60 without physics problems.
Bas Bastiaansen Not only you are wrong but probably also blind.
David Tran blind? Tell me, what do you mean. Wrong? What do I have wrong?
gorgeous game still my favorite ps4 game love this franchise
30 FPS, the "PRO" experience gg wp Sony.
Light Yagami applies to multiplayer only. RoTR runs at 1080 60 or at 1800 checkerboard 30
Geek 838 True. Some people are just whining for no reason.
Watching this in 144p and it still looks better than ANY pc game.
Just shows how console graphics is ahead of outdated pc.
Are you actually dumb?
Only video like Netflix and Prime video are true 4K. Max gaming on the PS4 Pro is 1440P at best.
Or 1800p with some games like Horizon Forbidden West
So the more expensive pro is just slightly better than the ps4. It's a bit prettier but not $500 prettier.
It's $400. Only $100 more expensive than the Slim, but more powerful.
x DirtyOldMan Bob wtf duh. it's $400. you know the same price as the og ps4. on that stuff again I see. Wtf $500 come from. if it was $500 doesn't make better, but more expensive then $400.
Hey guys, great video, as always :) Are you guys working on any of the newer games that have come out? I'm interested to see how Dishonored 2 and Watch Dogs 2 run, as well as what differences there are with the Ezio collection.
no need to " upgrade " to a PS4 pro if you already have a PS4
julio alcantara yes there is. It has been a very good purchase and well worth it if you like me do nothing but play games in your free time.
julio alcantara said no one ever..
I already own a PS4 and I own last of us on both PS4 and PS3 I beat last of us on the PS3 and only played it a little on PS4. the small bump. in resolution isn't that big a deal. I'm going to get a high end 4K TV in 2017 and wait for the Xbox Scorpio the PS4 pro is a baby step from the standard PS4
julio alcantara yeah, you're blind
No 60FPS option for single player, that is very disappointing. I really wish that Sony would realise that framerate is more important than visuals.
1:58 lmfao watch the right screen
If they can do 1080p and have a consistent 60 fps, that's more than enough for me.
If they can patch the game to further optimize it for Pro that'd be great.
It's weird that The Last of Us had issues. Hopefully they patch it up to let it run better.
Would it be different with a SATA III SSD??
lmao at people expecting 60 FPS AND a resolution bump.
Cant wait to play it for the 5th time. This time on ps5 in 60fps;)
Gosh, i thought the pro was suppose to be an upgarade
diego17775 1440p isn't an upgrade?
diego17775 it is.
There's no way of boosting fps in single player without serious compromises. Also this seems to look amazing in 1440p and hdr.
Ingenious 60fps would have been an upgrade
I was referring to not having constant/locked 60 fps on a 1080p screen, but yet they bump up the gpu and not the cpu when its the bottle neck.
1:58 Nice teleportation skills lady!
PS4 Pro is marketing.
Xbox 1X is to a mistake
As always world class video!
30fps master race
I don't know. If you're not planning on getting a 4K display, the PS4 Pro feels kind of pointless. Even if you get a 4K display, it still feels sort of iffy. They should have done something similar to the Scorpio, the Pro generally seems to be gasping for air due to weak hardware too often for comfort.
sooo 60 fps is nowhere to bee seen well ok.
GAME OF THE YEAR FINAL FANTASY 15 IS 1080 60 FPS ON PRO
19HajimeSaitou91 the game is not even released idiot
Kachun Yue come back home -- your mother's worried
franky Yeah cos a game with this level of graphics would ever get to 60fps, dumbass...lol
CEWIIH no need for insults, if they scaled down resolution it might be feasible.
Great presentation but i have question... At what framerate the female npc with the yellow shirt runs at 1:58?
So are we all agreed the Pro is totally not worth it?
Bernie Sanders no
Bernie Sanders It's like going from iPhone 6s to 7, so yes... it is NOT worth it at all!!!!
Justanotherguy I
EDIT: Fuck im dumb, it was late
@Almir Preldzic sry about that, dont know what was up with me D:
I love listening to all this stuff being explained.
So there's no 60fps mode? Are you kidding me...
not with jaguar notebook cpu in ps4pro
Sly Ripper you're paying 400 dollars ??? What more do you want ?
@@Aymannnnnnnn for that money you can get an nice 60fps pc
I'm sorry, but it's just not enough for $400. Project Scorpio is, in my opinion, way more enticing.
What? 400 is good. if the scorpio was the same price; different story..
Brett Naysmith Which it most likely will be. I can't imagine Microsoft would shoot for over $500. If they do, they're fucked.
tearg85 I was born during the PS2 Era, but I understand where you're coming from.
The scorpio isn't even mentioned or talked about by Microsoft yet. We still don't know what to expect from the console. For all we know it might perform not that much better then the Pro depending on how developers utilize its hardware but we'll see.........
Chris Taylor I'd be astonished if Microsoft were bluffing on the details of the Scorpio. It would hurt the Xbox brand, not embolden it.
why dont xbox have these kind of exclusives
because Xbox shit, go buy Ps5
I FORGOT ABOUT THE DLC NOW IM EXCITED AGAIN
1080p at 60 FPS is all I care about
SebHighDef No it's not I want better performance. 30 fps on the pro is fucking sad.
SebHighDef I already do have a PC, I enjoy gaming on consoles too. Performance matters, I wouldn't play uncharted 4 if it ran at 800x600 at 20 fps...
SebHighDef What's sad? I wanting the game to perform better so it can be better enjoyed? How is preferring better and smoother gameplay sad? I'm just saying I'd rather play at 1080p at 60 fps than 4k at 30fps.
SebHighDef i know it's kinda bad how it's called ps4 pro but performance isn't that much better.
SebHighDef, It is sad that you exist.
Am I the only one who doesn't see the difference?
Nelson Kaiton Yup hard to see in compressed youtube videos. More so in certain games than others.
maybe cuz u only have a 1080p monitor????
Nelson is probably watching this on his smartphone with less than 1080p display.
holy fuck the transition to the multiplayer footage...60fps matters folks
So 400$ system that can load stuff 10 second faster all I get.don't see no difference in graphics 🤔
The difference is in resolution, image quality not graphics.
U can't really tell the difference on UA-cam but in person u will be able to. Its amazing on the pro.
PS4 Pro is not worth a buy, end of story.
It is if you have a psvr, I bought one few weeks back it's a big improvement.
it is if you dont have a ps4 ;)
Because 1 game is 1440p? Gtfo. So many games are 1800p and higher which is a huge upgrade from 1080p.
I say sony should have waited longer before making this. Or make this the new ps4 slim
Uncharted 4 is the reason why i think The las of us 2 gameplay is true and that is gonna be amazing
Sony can make 5 consoles but where are the games? u4 is the only one I bought cause there is nothing else and played it for a week no replay value what so ever.
Abiel Rosado get bloodborne
Ratchet & clank, bloodbourne, infamous, killzone, horizon zero, until dawn and many others to come
Abiel Rosado You're the first person I've ever seen accuse the PS4 of having no games, I suggest you actually get online or go to a store lol
I think this should be the order of priority:
FPS > load time > resolution
Cinematic game -> 30fps
Fighting/Racing/FPS -> 60fps
Multiplayer -> 60fps
GDR -> 30/60fps
really really trying to see a difference but i cant... in my opinion this is the worst patched pro game so far
you are blind or you are watching it on a 1080p screen
There's a huge improvement with HDR mode. But if you are playing on a 1080p screen you will not see much difference.
r3load in youtube its hard to tell, but if you have 4k tv it looks way better
***** Pro is not worth it if Uncharted 4 is the only game you play. Check out the performance improvements on Battlefield 1 and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Or not if you have already decided to hate everything.
emko333 im playing it on a 4k 50 inch tv and im also not blind... only way i could see a difference is if i stand right in front of the tv... not a big improvement at all here.. other games have been patched much better than this
John you're such a smooth talker, awesome (:
you have to remember this site is doing Sony damage control . this dude was making excuses over and over again
Got both slim and pro on their launch Day and lemme tell you i have 4k tv i use hdr on my slim and it is almost same on pro. 4k isnt native and isnt big upgrade. Also slim is cooler and quiter. My pro is like jet sometimes.
