Holy shit. Not a single person on the team had Resident Evil 4 anywhere on their list??? That's honestly insane to me. Edit: nope, Tim had it on number 9... it's still unbelievable that it wasn't like top 5 overall.
I love these guys, even though i miss Colin because he brought different taste and opinions to the group! But these guys when it comes to Resident Evil, they dont have a clue. Resident Evil 4 original is legendary, and the Remake is pretty much as good! It is arguably the best game this year (to me it was). And Tim calling himself an Resident Evil fan is funny, because the games are never high on his list and he play the games way later then it came out. Resident Evil deserves better, especially RE4!
I love to see a four-hour KF GOTY pod! Barrett and Andy killed the graphics as always, and it was great seeing Janet in the studio! One of my favorite episodes every year!
Got through the 10 and still an hour and a half to go but this is definitely the best format for a GOTY video you’ve done and the conversations had about the games. It’ll rub some people the wrong way but I prefer seeing some games higher / lower than you’d expect but to just hear why you love them is great, excited to finish

Dead Island 2 slaps. Fun zombie bashing, looks great, runs great, good level design, some of the best environmental storytelling of the year, and a shockingly decent story.. People been sleeping on it all year. Glad Greg gave it some love.

And I mean a Nintendo guy who actually plays Nintendo games lol. Tim is a "Nintendo guy" but his tastes are so specific and he's so busy being one of the people running the company itself, he doesnt seem to have time to try to really dive in anymore. No Mario in here is just wild.
A Nintendo game won GOTY though, while I agree it would be cool to have a more dedicated Nintendo person on the crew like they have for PlayStation and Xbox. I feel that Mario Wonder not being in the Top 10 or Top 12 doesn't really have to do with not having a dedicated Nintendo person. You probably don't wanna watch Minnmax's Top 20 then, which Janet is also on, it didn't even make their Top 20, and this is also the case for several others that didn't make a Top 10 either. - Sean.
My first turn-based game ever, I tried the free demo because I knew how pretty the game was so I figured I'd give it a try. Great gameplay, beautiful visuals, lots of environmental and enemy variety, incredible soundtrack, and an emotional story. Loved it. @@PeachBootyPoppin

Agreed…I know it’s not perfect but there’s no game I played last year that made me feel the way starfield made me feel. That game had its claws in me for a month straight. And I mean if I wasn’t working or sleeping I was playing. I’m really happy it’s getting some love.

I know why it's been more hit and miss for some people, it's certainly more "you get out what you put in" than most Bethesda titles, but in my mind it's an absolutely incredible achievement that they got a game that ambitious as good as it was.
I like you all personally but the fact that you put BG3 #4 (which for me has been the best game out in years) clearly shows we don't look for the same things in videogames :D

@TheAndyCortez - Your question about BG3 and how to get into the small holes -- you can do this as any character too! There's a 2-spell combo you can use: disguise as either a gnome or a halfling, then use the "Enlarge" spell but pick the "Reduce" option. Not only can you get into the small space, but you'll have the ability to keep using skills/things in your inventory (lockpicking, etc).
My logic brain tells me that if there's a tie then it's supposed to just count as both that number and the next number... but my content brain wants as much excuses to talk about as much great games as possible

Man im jealous of the people who loved starfield. Bethesda has made some of my favorite games ever, pre-ordered it and it was just not what i was hoping for. The lack of that meaningful on foot exploration just kills the game loop and immersion imo. Hopefully elder scrolls 6 is a rebound for them
That's fair. Personally I loved that they mixed their formula up. So it's a shame it didn't work for you! Maybe in time with more DLC and mods it might grow on you? Either way, I have little doubt that ES6 will be more their traditional loop of on foot exploration.

Did not expect a show featuring Blessing Adeoye Jr. to have him only fourth in the drip rankings. Yes, I argue Greg's colour coordination and good fit makes his basic shirt and tie combo win over Blessing's admittedly killer bomber jacket + t-shirt. Good job stepping it up, non-Blessing KF folks 💟
My game of the year is Baldur's Gate 3 In June i was having a hard time deciding between Tears of the Kingdom and Resident Evil 4, but then came Baldur's Gate 3 and made it easy for me. Larian Studios have outdone themselves, the game is the type of game that fires on all cylinders, its great from all the angles you look at it, visually, musically, gameplay, writing, world design, community, its just a masterpiece, its in my top 10 games of all time.
Loved this because there was no conflict on the winner and list. And because it also shows just the love they have for video games, and the games that made them feel that.
@BirdsOfWar Seems like a strong list! Though my backlog is making me weep. The only game on that list I've gotten around to so far is Jedi Survivor, and I'm literally only playing through that as we speak 🥲 Not enough time!

There was something for everyone this year. So many genre defining games it's hard to pick any one as the best because of the variety. If we are talking games that set a new standard for what we expect in gaming Baldur's Gate 3 is without a doubt the winner in my book. It even pulled in people who wouldn't touch a crpg with a 25 ft mouse cord. I've never played a better "video game" in my life.
Alright, I recalculated the scores NOT COUNTING DLC, Remakes, or Early Access games, and Kinda Funny's top 10 more cleanly looks like this: 1. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (62) 2. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (44) 3. Alan Wake II (36) 4. Baldur's Gate III (26) 5. Lies of P (23) 6. Starfield (22) 7. Final Fantasy XVI (21) 8. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon (20) 9. Star Wars: Jedi Survivor (19) 10. Hi-Fi Rush (17) 11. Diablo IV (16) 12. TIE: Sea of Stars and Super Mario Bros Wonder (15) 13. Chants of Senaar (10) Interestingly, everyone had at least one disqualified pick in their top 10. It was that kind of a year for remakes and DLC as well.
Baulder's Gate III at 4 genuinely surprised me! Probably shouldn't have been surprised though. Keeping up with KFG, seems like it isn't really many of their cup of tea but man, I never thought I'd be into a game like BG3 and it probably has climbed to my top 3 favorite games ever. I'm just getting into act 3, and its my easy GoTY, not even close. Loving the list so far though. Only an hour and a half in.

Not having BG3 in your top 3 is wild but I get everyone has preferences, BUT leaving it off your list entirely scream of sabotage to me. People were trying to keep it from being top of the list.
FFXVI was great! It could’ve been one of the best FFs ever if it had more town exploring and/or strange character/weird world things happening in it. Outside of the Kaiju battles it felt a bit dry.
It's really not that outdated. Hell, it's a technical achievement in many regards. Just going for different targets than other games. Bethesda make sandboxs, not railroaded RPGs. Plus, the loading screens are like 1 or 2 seconds with SSDs these days. We spent 10 times longer in loading screens in Skyrim back in the day.
Thanks for feedback. I'm not saying it's a bad game, it's just a little disappointing for me. I played the hell out of Skyrim over the years on many platforms and loved it. I guess some game just grab you and others don't. I still feel it's outdated in regard to the recent games available. I think it's the "Creation engine" that is holding Bethesda back. They updated it for this, but there are better progressive engines from other developers. I hope Elder Scrolls 6 is a masterpiece, but we'll see. Have a lovely day @@alexlyster3459
No one be talking about how Alan Wake 2 actually used New game plus as a way to actually close out the story. What a sweet way to use a mechanic that is not taken advantage of in a way Remedy did it.

I'm disappointed RE4 Remake didn't crack the top 10, but this was a fun list with some surprising picks.

Larian Studios have outdone themselves, the game is the type of game that fires on all cylinders, its great from all the angles you look at it, visually, musically, gameplay, writing, world design, community, its just a masterpiece, its in my top 10 games of all time.

Loved this because there was no conflict on the winner and list. And because it also shows just the love they have for video games, and the games that made them feel that.

There was something for everyone this year. So many genre defining games it's hard to pick any one as the best because of the variety. If we are talking games that set a new standard for what we expect in gaming Baldur's Gate 3 is without a doubt the winner in my book. It even pulled in people who wouldn't touch a crpg with a 25 ft mouse cord. I've never played a better "video game" in my life.

Baulder's Gate III at 4 genuinely surprised me! Probably shouldn't have been surprised though. Keeping up with KFG, seems like it isn't really many of their cup of tea but man, I never thought I'd be into a game like BG3 and it probably has climbed to my top 3 favorite games ever. I'm just getting into act 3, and its my easy GoTY, not even close. Loving the list so far though. Only an hour and a half in.
Blessing, Andy, and Mike loved it so I knew it was going to be top 5. I knew it was on Janet's list but I didn't think it was her #1.

Not having BG3 in your top 3 is wild but I get everyone has preferences, BUT leaving it off your list entirely scream of sabotage to me. People were trying to keep it from being top of the list.
FFXVI was great! It could’ve been one of the best FFs ever if it had more town exploring and/or strange character/weird world things happening in it. Outside of the Kaiju battles it felt a bit dry.
Top 4 is my top 4 in that order. My 5th would have been Hifi-Rush. W list.

Well said Janet regarding Starfield. It's an outdated game and the loading screens turned me off.
It's really not that outdated. Hell, it's a technical achievement in many regards. Just going for different targets than other games. Bethesda make sandboxs, not railroaded RPGs.
Plus, the loading screens are like 1 or 2 seconds with SSDs these days. We spent 10 times longer in loading screens in Skyrim back in the day.
Thanks for feedback. I'm not saying it's a bad game, it's just a little disappointing for me. I played the hell out of Skyrim over the years on many platforms and loved it. I guess some game just grab you and others don't. I still feel it's outdated in regard to the recent games available. I think it's the "Creation engine" that is holding Bethesda back. They updated it for this, but there are better progressive engines from other developers. I hope Elder Scrolls 6 is a masterpiece, but we'll see. Have a lovely day @@alexlyster3459
No one be talking about how Alan Wake 2 actually used New game plus as a way to actually close out the story. What a sweet way to use a mechanic that is not taken advantage of in a way Remedy did it.
