Guild Wars 2 End of Dragons - Full Official Soundtrack

- (my comment on the OST)
The Soundtrack of End of Dragons is fully inspired by Korean traditional music. All of the tracks introduce Gugak (means: Traditional Music of Korea), and one Pansori (means: genre of musical storytelling performed by a vocalist and a drummer)
(The Cycle Ends by Lena Raine and Kim Sowon is inspired by it).
Pansori (in this particular context) is a vocalization technique which differs from singing as we may know in the West, because it's supposed to be loud, clear - using Danjeon (hypogastric) breathing. There are three ways of vocalization of pansori: the first one is to make the sound straightly, the second one is to tremble low note, the third one is to bend the note. It also uses specific rhythm - jangdan, which also has different types of keeping beat in the song - the tempo varies.
Pansori in general doesn't limit itself to vocalization, because it is an integral part of Korean Opera Ch'angguk, and is a genre of musical storytelling.
In this OST you will hear Korean instruments such as:
Sogo - small drum, Kkwaenggwari - small gong, Janggu - hourglass shaped drum, Buk - barrel shaped drum, Jing - large gong, Sogeum - a small bamboo transverse flute, Taepyeongso - an oboe instrument with a specific loud sound, Piri - a small oboe with strong sound, Haegeum - think Erhu or Xiqin, Gayageum - a zither played with hands, Geomungo - a zither played using a bamboo stick, Ajaeng - a zither played using a bow, yanggeum, danso and daegeum flutes.
Other than Korean instruments and vocalizations, you will hear fitting orchestration - violins, trombones, french horns, clarinets, saxophone, accoustic guitar, bassoon, english horns, tubas, violas, cellos.
And also you will find quite a lot of different synths throughout the soundtrack.
Very rarely to hear such a combination in the West - Gugak, Pansori, Danjeon, Orchestra and Synth - it's an incredibly original soundtrack, and stands out from many other East Asian music representations in series, games, movies.

The song that played with the credits “A World Without You” is so chilling, magical and gripping.
absolutely beautiful
The Cycle Ends killed me in the fight because I was stunned IRL, the vocals and the OG Guild Wars 2 motif is *chef's kiss*.
Fortune's Favor is both hilarious and very appropriate.
A World Without You had me crying buckets. It really marks the end of an era.
These are my highlights from an absolute banger of a soundtrack. Thank you to the whole music team they knocked it out of the park.
How can music be this good omg HOW??? :o
The composers put their whole hearts to music, their passion and love make everything about this soundtrack more special 😊
Best character select theme yet, I sat there and banged it for like 30 minutes first time I heard it. Truly feels like we've reached an end of an era.
"The Cycle Ends" has to be the best piece of game music I've ever listened to. So gripping and beautiful. I was in awe after doing the meta with this soundtrack in the background.
you should try listening to some Nier: Automata OST
Yeah, it does a great job of pulling things together from themes of the game in the past for that epic finale feeling.
The wailing sound she is making makes the track kinda unlistenable to me
@@cActUsjUiCe92 who asked? learn to like and appreciate more than one kind of thing.
@@bubbus5183 let people dislike things
Ngl I was already emotional at the end but when the vocals of A World Without You came I just started ugly crying. EoD was a masterpiece on all levels ;;
For me it was so cringe I tried to skip it as fast as possible 😂 Its crazy how different people perceive emotions.
i got tears rolling down in the end too .___. And anet really accomplished my love to Aurene. I freaking love her :') feel so sad for her to be the only one left. But i'm sure she will be the new mother of all.
Dude, 1:38:40 Become Like Water is actually impeccable, short and sweet: I remember hearing it and going "AURENE'S THEME" then it turning into a Canthan twist, and then the swell from things like S4, but once again with the Canthan twist.
I love what the GW2 music has become, a catalogue of leitmotifs and ideas that get sprinkled out, and don't get me started with the final boss fight(s), especially hearing Mordy's theme again
We would NEVER have gotten THAT much identity from the awesome music themes since HoT if Jeremy Sould would have stayed as a main composer. Losing him really was a benefit.
He might create awesome tracks too, but they're all so generic in the end, like you can change pretty much any soundtrack from base GW2 (especially Shiverpeaks areas) with some from Skyrim and you wouldn't even notice that it's from a completely different game.
Maclaine Diemer, Lena Chapelle and all the others though? They creaty truly amazing tracks that couldn't fit better to the game and the specific events they're written for!
Phenomenal, GW2 knocks it out of the park with the OST every time!
I think the ending song of EoD is a great opposite tarck to the first ending track Fear Not This Night. It makes you look back to this entire journey. It feels like everything is coming to an end. A grand finale
The goose bumps from the "End of Dragons" Theme starting with the opening of the "Factions" Theme from the first installment. Still sends a shudder down my spine every time I hear it
“A World Without You” is absolutly beautiful
52:43 gave me chills when that played - felt very Inception like.
I felt Blade Runner 2049 vibes as well. Honestly, I love all the synths in this soundtrack. It's amazing.
This soundtrack is neck to neck with heart of thorns soundtrack, both AMAZING PIECE OF ART
I didn't expect it to be that good. This is outstanding, real music, authentic. I guess, I will pre-order the limited vinyl edition.
Listening to the soundtracks of this game always make me wish for a Guild wars movie
a series
@@marcomartens484 The 3 novels actually cound make for some good films. The rest is for series
The End of Dragons soundtrack played while I was working, and I had goosebumps on the arms. The starting sequence will always make me remember GW2.
The "A World Without You" always gets to me, especially since I lost a few loved ones 😭
1:14:30 The Slums is still the best thing I ever heard. Like, holy crap. The hopelessness in that one song, and how it embodies the darkness in humankind, it's insanely well done.
The Petrified Forest, Whose Side Are You On, The Cycle Ends and A World Without You are AMAZING. Some of the best songs in the entire game.
The Tengu Village theme is one of my absolute favorites.
As a Korean I appreciate this music a lot! Man they really outdid themselves here
Gosh I get goosebumps every time in New Kaineng when I hear "Alone in this Metropolis". Its so damn good.
Togo's Legacy 8:15 is where I want to be
Togo's Legacy has got to be the main theme for Cantha as a culture imo. Such a perfect representation of their people and their land.
This is why I'm voting for Guild Wars 2 Soundtrack for this year's Steam Awards.
Holy s h i t "The Cycle Ends"is epic
I now need an extended version of it :P
haven't been able to play the last 2.5 months due to some freelance projects, but I've been listening to this over and over while I work. my biggest project is finally done. :) now I can hear the music in game!!
"The Kestrel's watch" and "The petrified forest" will get me every time. Each time I'm playing in the former Kurzick zones and I'm beginning to hear those first notes, I push the music level to the max. So much nostalgia and hope in those composition. But honestly this expansion OST is utter dope. Doing Dragon's end meta on one end or finishing the living story on the other one and listening to those very last songs in the playlist is such an experiment. What a game OST, I mean from Lion's Arch to Auric Basin to the Thunderhead/ Aurene peaks to the Echovald forest and so on, pure magic.
Chers!
Lots of amazing pieces but I was most amazed by how much the fighting music has increased in quality. Parabellum fits the encounters of Cantha so well and I'm always pumped when it starts playing.
I came for this 37:50
Good god, I stood like a minute just listening to this ost when I first heard it. What a masterpiece.
Also this one is amazing 30:05
First track is by Sojin Ryu, and the second is by Michael Choi 😊
Which reminds me to put the names of composer following each track 😁
The last one is also the name of the last series of stories developed for the original Guild Wars, which revolved around the founding of the Ministry of Purity, the events that lead to them seizing power in Cantha and the consequences.
This entire OST gives me mad nostalgia and makes me miss the first time I ever played through this expac which was not long after I first started altogether back when this came out. Wish I could erase my memory and do it again
2:17:18 had been haunting my dreams since the first look video 😅😅😅 Thank you! ♡
Favorites so far:Strangely Familar Place, Whose Side Are You On, Parabellum, The Cycle Ends
And surely more as I listen to the soundtrack more!
No one talked about these 2
But Ishan's Wish and Edge of Annihilation absolutely nailed it as meta's soundtrack
Thanks for putting this all together and timestamping the video. I love this soundtrack!
Thank you for uploading this! The whole soundtrack is amazing. What a wonderful combination of composers and musicians. Beautiful synergy!!!! I love it. ❤
These violin parts of "The Cycle Ends"
31:26 Winds of Change by Micheal Choi was one of the first and most memorable songs I heard in EOD. Probably a favourite. So goooooood
22:10 this soundtrack kept me ingame, its not the the meta or the challenges ... its the landscape jadesea and this title which gets me always goosebumps !!!
I cannot say this enough but the people responsible for the OST got better and better with every release.
I miss Soule but Diemer and all the others are amazing too
a world without you is amazing
Absolutely amazing music
Thank you so much, I will put this on repeat
Thank you for uploading this absolutely fantastic OST, and for providing such an informative video description too!
love the cycle ends and a world without you soo much.... sadly i think the cycle of loneliness just starts again 😔
idk why but i always almost cry whenever I hear the Tengu village theme
Your comments in the description are invaluable to understanding the soundtrack for me. Really hope they dont take this upload down, but just in case I'll back up your notes elsewhere lol.
Arenanet has always been very open minded whenever it came to uploading their content - I read the Terms of Use, and what I do is all according to it. 😊
My favorite is at 15:00 , i really love Strangely Familiar Place, i listen to it everyday even if i'm not playing :D
Apart from Core Tyria music (maybe mostly due to nostalgia), this is by far some of the best music made
I love the use of synthesizers. I just love all GW OSTs in general
This ensemble of composers and performers really nailed it. This is by far the most compelling, comprehensive, and fitting music they have done in GW2 to date. It lifts the weight of Cantha easily on its shoulders.
Ooof, i like so much battle themes written by Andi Roselund, so powerful and involving! They are doing my willbender gameplay even more aggressive.
P.s. All of this OST is amazing. Such atmosphere created by it is precious!
This soundtrack is incredible!
A world without you is beautiful, sounds like a song that would be in Adventure time, I don't know why!
Just what I needed to get me through the work day! :)
To be honest I've barely been into music my whole life. I know, I'm weird. But I fucking love Guild Wars 2's music.
I love this! I would have hoped that they would integrate some of the old Factions OST as well just like they did with integrating a bit of the Nightfall OST into PoF but this is nice too. The soundtrack just became better with each release. Stunning! The track at credits was so surprising and such a big moment.
I also love the integration of synthesizers into the new OST. Really fits the theme of the new Cantha.
These are all amazing, especially the top-tier ones like The Cycle Ends, but I am infinitely happy to know they made Out of the Dream jazz edition. 😂
Into the wilds is amazing! The whole soundtrack is brilliant.
NICEE, loved the credits song
50:03 one of best music in guild wars 2
Would be perfect for some guided meditation if that was much longer
I've always thought there's no touching the original soundtrack, but Imma be honest: That opening theme works better than the original main theme. I always gotta sit there and stare at my character until its done xD
Holy moly, A World Without You is stunning.
Is the instrument that comes in at 2:00:38 a Korean traditional flute? The tone is just beautiful
That's indeed the main Korean flute called Daegeum, but it has some processing on it.
It's quite similar to the Chinese Dizi, because you put a membrane on one of the holes - so you get this richer sound. :)
wow this soundtrack is good
Who s side are you on (kaineng overlook theme) is one of my favorite it just feels so good with the fight.
I think one song is missing which i am trying to find. it's the song where u gather in the middle before u collect all the magics for each crystal spiral. it has a deep powerful voice behind it with heavy drums.
There is 6 hours of music missing, that aren't part of the OST - I'm working on finding all of them 😁
2:08:26
This video is my life now. I don't listen to anything else.
2:11:04 which percussive instrument is playing in the background? That tong sound, you can hear that in Xenogears Awakening as well
There's a track similar to "The Petrified Forest" that plays in Arborstone, but much more mellow, and I just can't find it anywhere...
59:03 made me stop in game and just listen
It's the most gorgeous track on this soundtrack, every second is chills...
I'm still kinda sad they didn't integrate some of the old Factions OST in the game like they did with the latter releases :( I was so excited to hear the Ritualist theme in Shing Jae Monastry again
something from 1:12:16 is in the factions soundtrack too. cant tell which though
2:12:07 - We miss you ... mother!
What music is playing on The Dark Leviathan (the cabana music in the background)? I love it.
im here for 2:19:28
same
I can't seem to find an øst that plays during the fight with Ankka in the 2nd strike mission and the Story
I'm pretty sure it's Captain of the Aetherblades :)
Hey - What about the song that plays when we find Canach's Ship? The same soundtrack now plays in Lion's Arch for April's Fools. I cannot find it anywhere.
Ohh, that one was published long time ago by that_shaman, he called it "Magnum Opus", when he datamined this track.
12:40 is my favourite.
I like that one too :) I really enjoy Choi's compositions, really immersive :3
1:18:50 I kinda get The Legend of Spyro vibes from this track
Are you planning on uploading these as separate tracks?
Nope, you can already find all the tracks separately on many platforms. I will only upload various renditions of each track very soon. :)
do you by any chance know which song was playing when you reunite with canach and sayida? it also plays at an estate in new kaineng i think, kinda bossa nova sounding?
I'm not sure :/
Man I can't find the song that played during the Echo of Scarlet Briar bossfight, good ass song
That's because it's a track from 2014 😁 it's Battle on the Breachmaker by Lena Raine
@@michram thank u I love u
can someone tell me which one is the one playing when you fight Mai Trin with the shadow of scarlet?
Parabellum and then Battle on the Breachmaker. 😊
Anyone know where/when the track "Order and Balance" plays? Might be my favourite just for that beginning part alone
It usually plays during Dragon's End meta - often hear it during the Charging Crystals phase right before heading for Soo-Won
When we fight Mai Trin and Scralet try to get out, start's were similar to NIER automata melody. Who knows this soundtack?
Iirc this was „Battle on the Breachmaker“ which was playing during the boss fight against Scarlet in season 1. Also plays in the nightmare fractal.
@@SirGrinchy_ Great! Thank's a lot, because this melody stay in the middle i ignored this ost before
The Cycle Ends really gives me Gundam Unicorn vibes
Which øst plays during a fight with soo won ?
2:09:03 The Cycle Ends
This shit goes hard!
hiii does anyone know which is the one that plays during minster li's strike?

@@VSN194 i love this track so much - all of Andi Roselund's tracks are my favourites 😊❤️
It's missing the "Coastline" song from GW1. :(
What's the song that plays during scarlet briar/mai trin fight?

this IP has come so far from an audio visual standpoint, glad to see it
Am I insane or does the EoD theme use the same notes at the start like the Factions theme?
yes, many tracks of End of Dragons have motives from Factions' OST - some of the tracks are clear reduxes of Jeremy Soule's tracks. :)
@@michram kinda sad to see Soule not being part of the OST anymore but still the OST kept getting better and better with each release
Can someone help me find the OST for the mai trin fight in act 1 "you can't trust a pirate". i am think about the 2nd part of the fight
I am here anytime you need help finding tracks :D
You might be looking for The Battle on the Breachmaker (ua-cam.com/video/jC1xopc4TXs/v-deo.html - specifically the 2nd phase of this track plays in the instance). First track that plays before Mai summons Scarlet is called "Parabellum".

@@TheGuizmo It was a call-back, because Battle on the Breachmaker is Scarlet's battle theme. :D
