I am so happy with my Ventrue N4. Yes I had the rear view camera installed,no regrets. Also glad that I got the GPS mount to record my mph, my speed. Very happy with it. No glitches whatsoever the one he was talking about, that pink glitches across the screen of his. I also bought the VanTrue Micro SD card just to be on the safe side. The camera did not ask me to format the micro so card. When I turn off my dash cam when I get home, it will come back on to record if I shut my door to my pick-up truck after coming back to unload the groceries….lol. But it will eventually turn itself off after a few minutes of no action. Btw, if u r the one who speeds a lot, don’t get the GPS….🤣
If someone rear ends you and then decides to take off in a different direction you will not record his plates without the rear camera, so keep that in mind. There's a reason that camera was supplied. Also in parking mode, you're not protected well without that rear camera in case again, someone rear ends you.
All true, it is safer with it but that rebooting on flaked cam connection was a problem where you might end up with no video. So I never hooked up the rear. Also this unit has no wifi and no gps. Video Quality is good, but the rear cam connection and features could be better.
Thanks for the review. I have the same setup and didn't install the rear camera because of the side connection. Wished they listened to you and put it on the mount instead.
@@netcruzer oh maybe my Vantrue Element (3-1)is different ? I can’t find any option setting for auto LCD , and I don’t understand the option for Cabin /back mirror off or on , does anyone know what that is ?

@@Daumex Yes that is true, I should of said "If you need a triple channel dashcam its a good price but for me one camera is good enough so it is to pricy for me just to test and have fun with it."
I have a mini cooper convertible so the rear camera will have to be installed behind the back seats somewhere... also, getting the obd hardwire kit for the 24 hour parking mode. what is your opinion?
Do you think it is possible to check if the rear camera of other brand is Compatible with this one? I need a Waterproof rear camera to install in the Licence plate and I see that it fits a 2.4 mm mini jack as many other brands. I really don't mind if the image quality is poorer...
The rear camera is the highest priority. All dash cams view the front but if you are a good driver you are most likely to get hit from the rear. I dot want to be recorded in my cabin 24/7. I only use that if I am doing ride share.
I agree. If you are hit from behind at a stop light, the culpable party can claim (and sometimes does) that you accidentally backed into him, and that it is therefore your fault. In fact, I have seen exactly this scenario presented here in UA-cam videos posted by others with dashcams. Fortunately, when the front driver who was hit points out to the attending police officer and offending driver the rear dashcam in his car, the driver from behind looks like the total i di ot and lying jer k that they are.
I've never been rammed from behind, but I've done something like that with my wife, and she liked it. So, I assume it's not an entirely unpleasant experience.
I find the cabin camera very useful as interior/side/rear view.. so I'd recommend a dashcam with front and cabin view. The rear camera requires a lot of cabling with multiple points of failure in the line. Which I show and explain in this video.
I want the dash cam who's rear cam dual or single , what I like should Rotate wherever I want to rotate should be attached to the holder ball kind . The easiest way . All Dash Cam should be like that . Easy to Record if Criminal/s comes to the either front door .....I have Aukey dash Cam DRO2 , is Excellent but No Option to rotate like BlueSkySea B2W
The Macho Man just got this in today. Thank you for the helpful video! Ooooooooooooooooh Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaahh! Dig It!

My wife likes the cabin camera for when we are making out in the car. 😜
Lol hell yea.
Yea, she mentioned that to me too!

Nutcruzer, it’s been two years since your review of VanTrue N4, did u ended up keeping it, or did u buy another dash cam?
How can I set it so the display will fade off while still recording , I don’t want to see it playing as recording, can’t find how to set this option
When it’s not recording, press M button, go to settings and change ‘Auto LCD off’ to 30s, 1min, or 3min. Default is always on.

Hey I need help, do you know how to buy an extension cable for the rear camera?
I feel like crying because the cord is not long enough ! I have a VAN. 😫

Looks like a cool Dash Cam, but the price if hefty... Nice review John, Thumbs up
It works very well and the resolution is very good. If you don’t need the 3rd camera for rear there are cheaper options from VANTRUE
230$ for a triple channel dashcam is not much. Blackvue DR900X costs 500$ for comparison.

I wonder if you can get a 90 degree usb c adaptor to get it closer up top?

is the SD card included ?
No
I have same camera, how do i make sure it records front. Today i seen accident but the camera recorded behind me and inside my truck. Please help
How do you see photos on computer?
Take SD card out and use a card reader to import photos and video. This was something I failed to mention, with no WiFi you need to use the card.
Can you have live view of the rear camera exclusively? Sort of like using it as a rear view mirror?
Yes you can. I failed to show that well but you can swap them around the preview.
@@netcruzer does this come with an app ? I want to see the review when in reverse via my iPad on the car ?

How do you get the playback a normal speed? When I try to watch the N4 recording it’s super fast and speed up.
Do you accidentally have time lapse on?
You can not catch rear end accurances, if you have a van though. The cable is not long enough 😭😩
How you download the footage from the camera ? Any WIFI option ?
No wifi. Remove the microSD card. Or you might be able to get files off USB C but I didn’t try it that way.

awesome camera setup, great video and information
Thanks. Appreciate it. Yeah it works well I like that cabin view a lot you can see all around the car.

Rear camera will be used if you want the detailed rear end action! I don't think you can read their license plate with that cabin camera!
This is true. For a rear end hit and run the rear camera would be nice.

my rear view facing cam stays black and white
Why it doesn't show miles per hour ??
You need to purchase the optional GPS accessory unit (approx $21 USD @ Amazon) to see speed.
This helped me a lot but i git a newer version
I am disappointed in the fact you did not show it with the rear camera as it had a issue and that needed to be addressed
Do you show , the speed
No it doesn’t have GPS or WiFi. GPS is available as an upgrade mount.
