My suctio cup dropped the camera several times. I contacted Vantrue and they not only apologized but sent me a new suction cup mount and a sticky mount. Great customer service
Pro tip, your car manual actually has a fuse box breakdown which shows you what each slot does. This is important because not all fuse locations operate the same, so you can actually set the conditions where the dashcam would receive power. My 2014 Chevy Sonic is the base model, but the fuse box still has a sunroof slot that's leftover from the more expensive models, so my dashcam occupies that slot since it remains off until I stick my key in the ignition and turn one notch before ignition activates.
TL;DR with the hardwire kit you can actually set the camera to only be on when the engine is running, when power windows work, or always on depending on where you plug it in.
This is what I do in car amplifier installs when the stock head unit is left in place. Good tip man.

We are getting these for all our fleet vehicles along with the hardwire kit. Love the Vantrue products. We will be replacing N2 versions which have worked great.

@@greg7469 Actually the first one I got to test was dead on arrival. Vantrue helped get a replacement but it took nearly a month and a half. I have not had a chance to get it into the car yet.

@@DontCareBeare.5791 N4 is great. Just make sure you get the maximum size storage SD cards you can. 3 cameras eats a lot of storage. Its the best camera for the money in my opinion.
I just completed the hardwire install of this unit on my 2020 F150 this morning. Overall, not terribly difficult. Unfortunately, the micro 2 fuse adapter that's supplied with the kit doesn't work on late model F150s. I had the proper fuse tap on hand, so I was able to complete the installation. As I'm sure many of us are aware, the world is stuck on stupid right now, and our highways aren't exempt from that. The amount of reckless, careless, and downright dangerous drivers on the road right now is rather alarming. From rush hour traffic, to late night/early morning driving, idiot nation is out there. Having a dash cam may not prevent an accident, but it can certainly save you a lot of insurance company headaches by having proof of your side of the story. I opted for the GPS mount, the hardwire kit, and the 256 GB sd card. There are obviously cheaper ways to go, but I think the N4 is worth the money. I think it's only a matter of time until some sort of onboard camera becomes a standard feature in some vehicles. Nothing gives an insurance scammer the proverbial surprised pikachu face like a good dose of dash cam footage.
Hello. Thank you very much for the video. Is there any possibility that you can post a raw video file? I want to check if the video itself stores the GPS data encrypted in the video or in a separated file in the SD card. I can check it with only one video file.
funny enough i have a 2007 mustang that im looking to get a dashcam for. but i would want parking mode enabled. would you recommend hardwiring a dashcam to the 07 mustang and do you think its easy enough to do/worth it? also do you think this dashcam would be the one for that?
I am using it for a week , everything is fine but it's very hard to read license plates in the video at night time . Is that the limitations of the camera ? I tested for about different scenarios - video seems blurry when it comes to license plates . It's light reflection of the name plate which is leaving a distortion . Am I doing it wrong ? Anyone has similar issue ?

Does it capture number plates in the day and night?
So you have to connect wifi to it so like I can't get notifications from my alarm system when connected and using this?
I have an Auto-vox and that is how it works when I'm using the dash cam I can't use internet or get alerts from my phone until I stop using the camera.
I was hoping this one may have been different but I think this one operates the same.
Very disappointing, I want one that I can still get alerts from my security system while using the camera.

I dont need 24 hour surveillance. Can i still use the OBD for parking mode in case on an accident, but not have it drain my battery? I thought i saw that you could have parking mode only run for a short time to record the accident. Im not sure though.

While the three lense device is a nice concept what's missing is a corresponding Android or Apple iOs application to access files within the device simply. It was a time consuming nightmare to properly identify a good installation location on the rear window of both my Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Wrangler then to conceal the corresponding cables. It took hours not minutes to install even with the Vantrue hardwire kit.
What about collision detection. How much it takes to wake up after a hit when sleeping in parking mode? (not in motion detection or low frame rate, etc)
The Mazda CX 7 has a 12v in the center console that receive power when the car is off constantly. So check if your car has it too..
Can you view the camera content on a MacBook? Or just windows?

Yeah the hardwire kit will have the camera active when parked. Good for if someone vandalized or hit your car maybe but if someone breaks into your car? You think the person is going to leave the cameras in there for you to check the footage?

I have a 2020 ram rebel and it records 24/7 with the cigarette lighter and it does not affect my car battery
Rams are one of the only vehicles that have had a constant power cigarette lighter plug along with a switched plug since the early 2000s. Very handy feature.
@@nathanjames4242 in almost any vehicle you can simply wire with an ODB adapter that has a low voltage protector built in it's really not a big deal they're like 12 or $13
@@MikeMPharmaCyclist I am aware. I have Dash cams hardwired in all my fleet vehicles. I don't use the OBDII connector though, I hardwire it to the main wire harness of the vehicle. I was just letting people know that in RAM trucks there is a second 12V plug that is constant power vs switched power. Its very convenient for things like this.

Without the cloud feature, and it only recording on to a sd card, if it does catch a thief, and they steal the camera, then wouldn't the evidence and footage be gone too?

You can you can view the video footage on the app? That’s stupid. For that price you should be able to do so much with the app. I was really thinking of going with this for my new updated dash cam but I don’t think so now. I think I’ll stick with Nexar.

I would recommend the hardwired kit. That way it gets the power it needs, and the hardwire kit will stop if your battery gets too low.

Hey! I love Idaho! It's great! I haven't tested too many other models, so it's hard to say for sure. The voids it leaves aren't large, but for the price, it makes them seem big. However, you always will pay more for a three camera system.

No, all on or off. Yes there is a hardwire kit that will have it record all the time, even while parked, until the battery gets too low.
I watched the whole video but didn't find the key information I am looking for, i.e. how well can the cameras resolve the license plate number of the leading and trailing vehicle, at what distance, what lighting conditions, etc.

The loop recording on my N4 has gaps in between sequential videos. How do I fix it?
You can adjust the length of the video segments to make them longer in the settings.

You can. There is an option to stop a recording.

It would drain your battery after a while. If you get the hardwire kit, it will stop pulling power from the battery after the battery level hits a certain level

I bought it and had it installed, I paid for it to be hardwired. They wired it to a switched fuse meaning the camera turns off when the vehicle is off, meaning it doesn’t capture anything in parking mode because there’s noooo power!!! I’m so pissed, I wish I knew more about it to do it myself, I’d save myself some money!
@@mandomagana haha you should have UA-cam it bro 😂 I use to take my breaks to be done then I found out how super easy it was with one tool I purchased from the 99 store. Wasted so much money every few years to replace my pad s that cost 35 to 45 bucks and 20.mins max to do.

Does it support parking mode recording? meaning when the car is not working in a parking place will it record the surrounding with the 3 lenses?
Can it record in a loop? so when the sd card is full it overwrites the previous recording?
It doesn't support parking mode recording out of the box, unless your cig lighter provides power all the time, then it will. But if your cig lighter provides power all the time, there would be nothing stopping this cam from sucking your battery dry. Their separate hardwire kit fixes these issues, but it's more money.
Yes it will record on a loop and delete the oldest non protected videos to make room.

If this cam has constant power will it time itself out till it feels vibration? I have the vantrue N4 and it times out so as to not drain the battery till I open the trunk or the driver's door

It could if you found the proper aftermarket cable. But unless the battery pack was huge, it wouldn't power it for too long.
I'm in Arizona where it hits 110 plus daily, anyone have problems with the heat?? I don't want it to overheat although I will be getting the protection plan just incase

Just got one. After last firmware update the front camera even does 2440p. Bummer as mentioned is that there is no WiFi/Bluetooth to connect via mobile phone. So far love it

my car doesn't even provide power while turned off so I can't use parking mode anyway. the only other perc I see with this cam is recording inside. for this price though i really think it should come with wifi. great video!

Thank you for this video. You really went above and beyond with it. I use this camera butnIndo not like it because it gives you no information about the speed, just video footage. I can do that with a cellphone to be honest and get more for my money. I will not recommend this to anybody.
I installed mine a little over a week ago, and I do agree it is a good camera, but for the price I would expect a lot more with it, or have a lot more built into it.

Not all cigarette lighters are off without key in ignition. My ford E250 sigarette lighters work all the time. I have 3.
Same with my mustang, works all the time. I'm always unplugging devices.

My Vantrue NS4 popped off the windshield - how do I re attach it. How do I reset the suction cup mount lever?
It just rotates 45° to loosen and reattach. After a while it kept falling off my windshield too. :(

Some people have multiple cars and may want to identify their vehicles when they are watching footage on the computer from all the dashcam footage they have from the other cars.

Yeah, but it would be darker, which makes sense.
You can cut out a small portion of the tint.
It works fine. I have 5 percent window tint and it shows clearly.
