I Purchased the Rotex RM8 after watching the online reviews. I have since been to my local gun club at our indoor range and shot groups at 50 and 75 yards this gun is fantastic and almost as accurate as my Daystate Wolverine B and for the price I paid £395 I have to say I love it. I have since fitted a Weihrauch suppressor to bring the noise down a little as it is now going to be used as a hunter only. I Hope to get the stock dipped in camo and put some clips on from the range as soon as possible. The only slight issue with the gun if I'm going to be totally honest is it is quite stiff when engaging the bolt forward but after some stripping and a little bit of a tinker with the action it's now smooth and precise. As for the plastic trigger it makes no difference apart from being warm on the cold mornings. Great gun for little cash in my opinion.
I used to be wary of shooting through gates too. Then I ran my ballistics through the free chairgun pro program. This showed me the lowest point the pellet hits below the scope zero. If you have a mil-dot scope, it is then easy to determine whether the pellet will hit the gate or not. I now shoot confidently through gates, as long as they are closer to me than my scope zero.
Great clip chaps. As I've said before, certainly the best airgun content available on UA-cam. Nice to see an honest review of the Walther too. Keep up the good work chaps
Not very honest. They didnt say nothing about how hard is to cock this rifle. Another thing - you can not tell how accurate one rife is when shooting outside in the wind and without good quality front rest.
People saying he's too slow pulling the trigger.... He's waiting for a good shot!! The idea is to kill cleanly not shoot randomly and either wound or miss completely!!
12ft/ib isnt a massive disadvantage, i own a 12ft/ib rotek and my rabbit headshot record is 76 yds, they have the muzzle energy to do the job. And yes you are right 5ft/ib can do in a rat, i think 5-6ft/ib is all the force needed to penetrate a rabbits head but you still need accurate shot placement
About the Rotex, it seems like its the same gun as the AirMagnum 850 just with a different Stock, a metal magazine and airtank. There are quite some quality things i dont like about the 850. At first cocking doesnt feel smoth after some time, i have put some grease on it but the rough feeling of metal rubbing against metal returned, its hard for me to describe as a non native english speaking person. Also the cocking lever wears down the finish of the lower part of the resting position of the lever and can also cause slight deformations on the metal. I cant get rid of the feeling that the Rotex will share the same issues.
As a newbie to the hunting world I have really enjoyed all of the shows so far. Looking forward to more. Would it be possible to have a feature on the best budget kit for new hunters?
Glad you're enjoying it. Have a look at tonight's show and you'll see some great affordable accessories to help keep your aim straight. We're also planning a review of the Remington Express gun/scope combo in the near future. It looks like being a great entry level gun for aspiring hunters.
theshootingshow I've been happy with my Remi Express .22 my first air rifle - for rats around the chicken runs. now Im looking to upgrade & found your channel ! looks great !
Right let's see if I have got this correct at 3:40, because the parallax set at 'x' yards if you shoot nearer you have to compensate for that by raising the target point (x+1) and lower if you shoot further away (x-1). Something which you would practice and understand through target practice, AND also I should also be looking to understand the trajectory of the individual pellets I am using plus we not even discuss outside influences such as wind. Dead easy ain'tit.
Hi Matt, really enjoy your videos keep up the good work. I have the air arm TDR in 22 cal. I'm after a bipod for it that slide on and tightens. Do you know where I can find one off these. Kind regards Ian Howard
Mat! I'm surprised you're not carrying IR kit in your car... it's way more effective that lamping in my opinion. 😀 Love these vids mate - spend hours watching them!
Find ballistic info for your gun, ammo, elevation, temperature, etc. Look for 0.5" low, 0.5" high, 0.5" low again range. Then "zerp" 0.5" high POI over POA. Around 22 yds depending on all of the variables.
I like your videos. I've done a bit of ratting using a small red led flashlight. I've used it strapped to the barrel, or mounted to the scope with an upside down scope ring. I have also used it set stationary in the open door way of our chicken coop. Mounted on the air rifle, the eyes glow bright;ly, but the movement of tye gun (and attached light) sometimes spooks them away. Mounted in the doorway, the eyes don't glow nearly as brightly, but they don't spook as easily. I've ordered this "headlight" from Amazon/USA, and it comes with red and green lenses. Some say the green works best, as many animals don't get alarmed by that color. The light can be worn on the head, on a hat, or attached to something stationary. Here is the unit I ordered: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N3HUE1W?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01 My airgun of choice is a Crosman Custom Shop 2400KT CO2 carbine, which is powered by one 12 gram CO2 cartridge. I ordered and installed a muzzle brake made by TKO (USA), and that makes the gun so quiet, I can shoot on my acre with neighbors on all sides of me, without anyone getting alarmed. "Silencers" are illegal here, but muzzle brakes are allowed, and this one is a sweetheart! The rifle is a single shot bolt action, but I usually wait till I nail a rat, and call it good for the night. As I said, it's on a small scale. I got about 10-12 last year.
The ratting section looks so fake... he is shooting in bright sunlight, yet the `scopecam` looks like he`s shooting at dusk...also it keeps cutting back to him looking through the scope...where's the cam? no scope cam on his rifle...also with the second rat he says he used holdover...at closer than zero he would have been using holdunder...the presenter (or should i say pretender) isnt shooting those rats.
You have two zeros' with any projectile mate, first and second. Close range ratting will see you apply 'hold-over' NOT 'hold-under' this is because the line of the scope sits 'above' the line of the barrel and thus at close range you need to 'hold-over' to lift the barrel that little bit. The guy knows his stuff pal.
I never liked Umarex or Walther airguns. Like the dominater 1250. But as I heard from others that is a underrated pcp. I am looking now alot at this Rotex model. And after a lot of reading reviews and watching yt vids I was getting more into this gun. But then I hear" the composite plastic trigger........" And I am back at total disliking this rifle. I didnt like the strange big plastic part at the front. Between the barrel and the stock. It is to fill up the od gap they, that the designers didn't know what to do with. Shame. Because it seems to shoot quiet ok.
New metal trigger costs 20 bucks. I bought the 1250 and changed nearly all the plastic parts. Now it's a beauty. Many of the RM8- and 1250- parts are innerchangeable.
The aim was to kill the rats as cleanly as possible, and avoid risk of wounding by going for head shots - which does make for challenging shooting. Also, if you rush the shot and miss the rat, it's likely to spook and not come back out, so it does pay to be patient.

These low powered European guns are a little more of a problem. He's shooting less than 12 fpe.

theshootingshow brother u had a few great shots u let them get away how long do u need them in your cross hairs?
ambitpeal I have one and it's not hard to cock
Huntsman regal is a beauty
People saying he's too slow pulling the trigger.... He's waiting for a good shot!! The idea is to kill cleanly not shoot randomly and either wound or miss completely!!
That's true, as the UK guns are sub 12 ftlb. However, I do believe that even a 5 foot pound gun could kill a rat, if you hit it right.
12ft/ib isnt a massive disadvantage, i own a 12ft/ib rotek and my rabbit headshot record is 76 yds, they have the muzzle energy to do the job.

Your 100 percent rite my friend ! The rite way 2 hunt
... And as always, happy hunting!
Another nice show Mat, there's something about the way the RM8 looks that reminds me of the Superten.
Not sure if I would have let them go either . Head ,neck ,chest is good enough for deer why let a rat off ?
Matt you are defenetly a very good shot.best airgun channel on here. Carnt wait for next one lol.atb

looks very good for the price I noticed you had to snatch at the bolt quite hard when cocking & loading. great show sv
great video

Cool Video Mat!
You narrate the demise of rats like reading the news! 🤣

They're not too fast, you're too slow. There was plenty of time for quite a few clean shots that you just let get away.
Wrong
Right on! Chelsey.
@@callumrowe3523 yes he just waiting for a clean kill.
Any of you guys has any experience with this gun? i'm interested in buying it and any opinions would be helpful
Hi Matt,I am quite new to air gunning , could you tell me what range do you have your rifle zeroed at for shooting rabbits and rats??Thanks Gareth
it doesnt matter what he has, you need to zero it in your self from a distance you will want to shoot from
Thanks for the info.

25:20 Rat: (Oh shit…He’s dead Peace the fuck out)✌🏼🐭
why read the bad comments ,if you don't feel right taking the shot then don't wait until you do

You're right about the scope camera but you don't know ballistics too well.
You narrate killing rats like you should read the news! 🤣

I thought he was showing off how steady he can hold.
Watch videos by Welsh man 50 to see proper rat shooting
Am i alowed to ave more than 1 air rifle in the UK ?
Yep.
It's painful watching this guy, I'd hate to have him on my side in combat.
Left plenty of opportunity.
men very slow
Didn’t see him lamp one rat. Shot them all. Bloody click bait
This guy its too slow for shooting, lost many opportunities and make burring the episode
to much talking
Finger always on the trigger, no scope cam mounted. All FAKE!
So how do you think they got the footage? Different gun with scope cam? The lighting seemed correct.
buy some rat treps it is a lot cheaper
Lol... what's a rat 'trep'
can't u just shoot early on with out waiting

You're not a very good hunter.
