- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- It's a dog and bird episode of our weekly programme. On the bird front, we join ace airgunner Frank Underdown to learn how to bring in pigeons to decoys and shoot them with an airgun. We also have expert Mike Yardley to teach us about the history of pheasant shooting. And for dog lovers everywhere, find out how your highly-trained companion can retrieve you a brand new car worth £20,000. That's what happened to one dog handler at the Midland Game Fair. Watch our programme - we're the antidote to BBC Countryfile.

Frank is a great character. Carry on Frank.
Aw Frank made this video really enjoyable. Well Done Frank.
+Spiritual Trigger Agreed!
Charle... I have the benefits of looking forward and backwards when I watching your videos. Somewhat like TIME TRAVEL...
Too bad life's not like that. Keep up the great work.
Thanks again for sharing.

Great shooting frank.... 👍
That is actually quite alarming, I had no idea :O. I heard an interview with Jude Law the other day talking about the state of mental illnesses in the UK and he said, 'Not to be stero-typically British and stay hush-hush, but honestly - it's just something that's not discussed. If my best friend were seeing a therapist I would have no idea, it's that private'. I found that saddening that there may be people who need help that are afraid to even ask for it!
There is no minimum FPS but most people consider 11.9fps to be OK at the right range while you are unlikely to get close enough to use a 5.9fps air pistol
your talking about ft/lb he is on about feet per second, fps. 11.9 feet per second wont kill anything nevermind a rabbit. yeah i love the show btw and i think it is amazing,
cheers, a fellow uk countryman!
Was that Jimmy Crankee playing the bag pipes at the beginning?
Air pistols work quite well actually in .22 and .25 with 10-15 cm barrels. I've cleanly taken large grey squirrels and cottontails on numerous occasions. It depends entirely on your stallking capabilities - and having the proper setup. I am only able to do this on my own property as 'pest control' otherwise I would extend my ranges but I have yet to find a permission in my area to do so.
I got a new full twelve foot pounds airgun well it cost me £11.99 and its great I use it for hunting haggis but I haven't found there nests yet but when I do .
i hope there will be some decent ferreting and lamping with dogs in the winter editions
fantastic programme but where is at home with the guss hawks ? we miss them
great shots mate
I don't understand your comment but your screen name made my day lol.
How is Frank Underdown doing? It was this episode that piqued my interest in airguns. Since then I've got about 7 with the Benjamin Marauder .25 being my pride and joy.
+aardvarkiq I don't know. I will try to track him down. / Charlie
Thank you, and please pass along my best regards.
Cheers,
John
@@fieldsportstvits been another 4, so how was frank
You can get Air rifles of any power on an FAC (Fire Arms Certificate)
I'm sorry to write this on such an old post but I thought it was applicable. I have only ever shot rabbits with a .22 air rifle but I am thinking of getting a .177 and starting Field Target shooting as a hobby, considering this, do you think that I could use the same .177 rifle for Field Target as I could for hunting? I suppose the main question is, is .177 an acceptable size for rabbits at lengthy ranges?
60-80 yards, an FAC air rifle would probably be a better choice than a 12 ft/lb one since the best range you'll have is 40 yards. Daystate, BSA, Air Arms, Weirauch are good manufactures and for pest control an PCP (Pre-charged Pneumatic) air rifle would be a good choice. With an FAC rifle, .22 would probably be the best choice.
60-80 yards is really at the extreme range for air rifle shooting, it is possible if you are an expert and well practised marksmen however there would still be a high risk of wounding birds by incorrectly placed shots. You could set a simple hide up at around 30-40 yards? Bare in mind you will be shooting at a target of about half an inch (the kill zones of head or shoulder). I shoot a Weihrauch springer with a 3-9x40 scope in .22 cal, it is more than enough for any vermin species.
what do you use for a weapon?
Could someone answer a few questions for me, please? I am having a bit of a problem with wood pigeons in my garden - we have a large vegetable patch - and would like some advice on airgun shooting. The range I would be shooting from is roughly 60-80 yards and I am a fairly good shot from my experience on other people's rifles but I am clueless when it comes to what brands to buy/pellet calibres/rifle power/scopes etc. if someone could get back to me I would be most grateful.
Did u find out 😂
do you mean 11.9ft/lb? :P as 11.9fps would be like throwing a pellet lol
To bad our U.K. friends aren't allowed a means of protection with a concealed firearm. I take comfort in being able to do so here in the States. Been carrying for 5 years now and am so thankful it has never even been necessary, as a very last resort, to have to use it.
Great video!!
What's the rifle name?
What pellets was he using.
hard ones
i shot a pigeon today and ate it, its actually really nice i eat whatever i shoot :)
a human?
yeah we can just go out and buy air rifles of 12ft/ibs without any license .we can have better ones but to get them we need a fire arms license. which is a lot of hassle and expense, and takes a long time.daft isnt it. our laws are over the top.i think we should be able to have any airgun, a .22lr,or a 3 shot shotgun without too much bother at least.
Battue = Beaten from the verb battre = to beat.
177 is just as good m8 i drop foxes at 30 yards with my bsa r10 177 12ftp
shooting foxes with a 12ft.lb air rifle what wanK*
Did he say 78 years old????
i want a scope
any one help me
+shafeeque tk Yeah, go and buy one.
wish i was some rich fuck with acres of land and shotguns and rifles.guess i'll have to stick to poachin, unless i win the lottery.i better start doing it.
Fuck it! I didn't watch this video because of UA-cam's stupid 31 second advert at the beginning.

dinglebopper Thanks dude! I'll have a look.
11:09 Going in for a handshake oh, no. doesn't matter.
You realize that your only allowed " weak" air rifles"
how come we as mear mortals can only upload 15 mins of video to youtube what are we doing wrong ? or do you have to talk like oh arm ?? if we could put real long vids on il bet some of us could put these vids to shame, id love a job going round england filming people that can well afford the sport they are in and so it makes the filming easy, what about the bloke thats got 20 rabbits to shift from 20 acres of field and the farmer isnt happy, then its all down to real field craft, cheers john
I’ve seen the thumbnail used on fortnite
And need we mention the number of murders there have been in the US due to their terrible restrictions on guns.
Ignorant to assume we're not allowed any guns.
We are allowed any shotguns or bolt action rifles with the correct licenses, just not handguns and semi/full autos.
I know we're restricted, but lots of British people own and hunt with rifles and shotguns.
The English civilised it...😂
billie bleach yeah but we can't shoot hogs and deer.
