I own the wood version of the express in .177. Just yesterday I mounted a UTG red dot site on it and it is a tack driver at the distance I use it which is 25ft or so. Squirrels and rabbits are put down in one shot using a polymag hunting pellet. It is an excellent rifle. The rat shoot was really entertaining to watch. I am going to have to try that along the ditches out in the rural areas.
Well I watched this on January 1st so I am in the 'new year' safely,...now I wish this for all of you folks who make this video possible, as well of course, the other viewers. This was a particularly good video for my interests this evening,...Thank you and Cheers
Nice work. Can I offer you a tip with lighting. I prefer to hunt feral dogs, pigs and goats with a center fire but the advice will also work with slug guns. Use a green flood (I use Night force) and/or add a green filter to your rifle light. It will give you enough light to shoot with but won't alarm your prey as much.
Great vid as always . You may want to try a peanut butter and/or Nutella and vegetable oil blended thin enough to pour . The rats can't grab and run as they do the pellets .Terry
I got the wood stock .22 Remington for now 5 years and its all I need!! I was going PCP but now I don't need to. @ 19 ft lbs it can do anything my .22 lr Marlin can do out to 50 yards.
I learned from experience in the past that broadcasting food pellets over a wider area as opposed to an individual stack yielded better rat action. They tend to be skittish feeding together in a tight group and scatter once their buddy takes a pellet to the head. Having them feed with some distance between them tends to calm them down and I can drop one and not have the rest scatter, making for some productive subsequent following shots.
please do something about the super loud music at the beginning and end. it blasts me across the room every single time. otherwise, I really enjoy the vids.
Looks like that place is running with rats! Agree with other comments on nv, that would have been my choice. I use a nv monocular for spotting too as I don't like scanning round with a loaded gun. I would have thought this was an ideal spot for an idle back chair too, more comfortable, stable and movable for getting on target quickly. Always enjoy your videos Matt and the tips and explanations.
really love this channel the only thing i don't like is the Narrator of the airgun news sounds like he's something stuck in his throat or is putting on a voice to make it sound more interesting, when in all reality the news is interesting anyway ... please just do it normal lol .... great work though ;)
+dan r Tend to agree. I am sure he is a decent bloke, he just needs to relax and chill a bit on the marketing vocaliztion. Reckon he should have a couple of drinks before he goes in front of the camera :) Great show though and I don't even hunt!
Great as usual how about doing a Sandwell Field Sports tuned Weirauch? Also why lamp when you have NV. Put a peanut butter oil and Nutella mix down the rats can't run off with that
enjoyed the vid as usual , but you advertise the basc, i decided to look on the basc site when renewing my insurance on the site it says airgunners are covered for "recreation" only, i decided to go with a different insurer as with many my insurance is for hunting and pest control...
You look like a kid I went to high school with, I hope you don't mind he was a Texan as well. Anyways, great video, like the shooting; a little entertained by the Rats popping like popcorn. Hope you don't mind that either: my wife was kind of put off by it though. The fact that I'm entertained by the Rats popping like popcorn, not your shooting them; she says' "Cracking good shot." Tah!
They say never point your muzzle at anything you don't intend to kill, it seems searching with a light attached to a rifle isnt the best idea - as that loaded muzzle is going places you are not sure of. For example, a sudden noise will have that light, and subsequently that muzzle, swinging onto something you may be unsure of. Makes me nervous. Similar to scanning for game through your scope - only to realize everything in that scope has a loaded muzzle pointed at it.
Job security for this guy, they keep dropping food pellets on the ground so the rats will never go away. This is a really not intelligent way to control pests.
I’ve got the wood version of the Remington express, really nice gun

really always love these episodes however would be nice to see the test guns in the field, that Remington although budgets looked very capable

Would be great to see you go back there with nite vision

Nice rat shoot especially since most people go for NV gear these days rather than the good old gun lamp.
Thats because it is so much easier ;-) sit back, relax and watch them without them being aware.

I know this is a older show. but wondering do you charge to do pest control on farms? Or is it more of the fun and skill
does the guy who does the news talk like that all the time? or does he put on a stupid voice after losing a bet?
Happy new year! Very nice.

Hi Mat! Really enjoy the videos!Out of curiosity: How much do You charge for hunting rats? Do You charge per rat killed or another way?

Great vid ! Love airgun parts atvb sv
Great shots
You should get yourself a headlamp so you have both hands to pick up the rats
These are the best shots I have seen at UA-cam. Clean kill shots.
Great as usual how about doing a Sandwell Field Sports tuned Weirauch? Also why lamp when you have NV. Put a peanut butter oil and Nutella mix down the rats can't run off with that
Couldn't you use an infared lamp & scope? Then they wouldn't be as spooked
Great show
Great stuff Matt , but Nv is much easier for shooting rats ,lets see that PBNV out again soon.
atb brian
Good footage but infra red night vision and baiting with stuff they cannot run off with will certainly inprove your bag..

.
All it means is that business activities are not covered. Hunting and pest control is certainly covered by BASC
Capt Sealeg
recreation is on the basc site directly under the airgun insurance layout..
.
Capt Sealeg
look harder....NB Your membership insurance only covers the recreational airgun shooting activities
to make the rats stay longer put birdcage mesh over the bait.
Hi Mat, I was just wondering what power level your Daystate rifle was operating at for the ratting at the start of this episode?
Hi Max. The Regal is legal limit - around 11ft/lb - in .22 cal.
@@theshootingshow what is that in fps?

what caliber pellets you usuing matt
How many FPS is this riffle please?
what pellets were used with the remington express
Should put a few hand fulls In a bucket with warm water to make a mush of the pellet then they can't run off with it
Yeah, those rats need to be working a little harder to get the pellets so they still a little longer.
good afternoon this focus green or red light ??
What is the lamp called
I love this UA-cam page what rifle scope are you using?
Hi Ryan. It's an MTC Genesis UL. Very nice little scope.
I can see that
i have just brought a hatsan AT44-10TACTis this a good gun my freind has one and says they are very good can i get some replays please.
What remingtons that.
I love rat hunting!!!!
get your night vision on your gun bud and perhaps they won't be so wary
less talky more shooty

Is this just a hobby? Or a paying job? I can't imagine you made any real dent in the rat population (on one occasion anyway).
Remington = Made In China !!!!!
Apple, made in China. What else?

The most bored program of air rifles, very much bla bla little action!!!
