While I've been away some debris has appeared on the railway, see how I get to all areas of the layout for a clean-up. Also I see what's about on the layout and have a bit of running, I hope you like seeing the content today
Go to like the colours & shapes of freight trains😁👍👍
I'm glad you liked seeing the wagons, they are bright. Thanks for looking, all the best to you
Nice to see u back running the trains
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, it's good to be back at the railway. Best regards to you
Welcome back, hope you have enjoyed your holiday break 🙂
Time away always seems to go by so fast. Best regards to you
Good you're back nice to get a birds eye view of the railway....Know what you mean about bits on the layout, esp' if you had a while away.. I was forced away from mine due to on going health issues and was shocked to find daddy long legs dead wood lice everywhere.. very enjoyable watch as always thank you
I find the answer is a fairly good mini vacuum, it sucks up most of the invaders. Take care, best regards to you
Excellent. It's great to see trains running on your big layout again. When Airfix locomotives are good, they are very very good and when they are bad, they are very very bad. Yours is one of the good ones by the look of it. I think I have both types 😊 Welcome back.
Hello Pauline, hopefully you can get your bad loco in better shape, thanks for looking, all the best to you
@@MrSnooze Thank you, some 'minor adjustments' to be done.
Welcome back..... You are right about the lighter, modern wagons.. By coincidence we have added a bit of weight to some similar wagons on our layout ( Both of those open wagons saw benefit by the inclusion of a "load" to run better?
We have also found that a small piece of soft foam stuck on above the guard's van axles, works as a "brake" on the axle, to keep just a little tension on the couplings throughout the train.. This helps to prevent the 'slack' that sometimes causes couplings to let go over uncoupling ramps....(especially if a loco falters slightly on a nearby point)? A slightly "older" van still made with open axle boxes (but with TL couplers) will usually add a bit of 'drag" too?
Great to see such good running on the nickle plated track after a break too.. It's a case of time well spent..
Great points there, I do think a bit of extra weight will help. Take care best regards to you
Love your commentary style Mr Snooze 😎👌☕️regards Fred
Thanks Fred, I hope you enjoy the upcoming content, all the best to you
Nice to have you back Mr Snooze.
Thanks Nick, I hope you like the upcoming videos too. All the best to you
Welcome back.
Nice to see how you reach the back of the layout.
In Australia we have Geco poo landing on the layouts frequently. So the little presents left for us can be quite a problem here.
The Class 3MT sounded like she needed a lube in the workshop.
Running the red Coronation in an upcoming video might be nice to see if you have some matching coronation coaches.
I managed to pick up a blue coronation Coach recently to go with my engine which was nice to see on the Series 3 layout.
Anything running on your superb Super 4 layout would be good though.
Stay safe.
Mon
Hello Mon, I don't have any red Coronation coaches, I usually run Hornby Dublo ones with it. I've got a few mice about, I'm hoping to find where they get in to stop them .Take care, all the best to you
Great to see another great video, I can imagine the little creatures having fun on the railway when your not about .
Nice to see the older locomotives doing there stuff . all the best Martin 👍
Thanks Martin, I'm trying to find where the mice get in but so far no luck. Best regards to you
Great to have a new video, Clock and maybe car repair i assume has taken all your attention. 😊
I do need to finish a water pump rebuild for my old car. I hope to do a bit this weekend. Thanks for watching, best regards to you
Welcome back mr Snooze, trust you had a good holiday. Great to see the super 4 layout up and running again after a bit of spring cleaning. I like the modern day stuff but the oldies have a definite charm a character and probably go on to out live the new models.
All the best, cheers Rob
I'm glad you like to see some older items, there is no doubt that some of the current models look simply excellent. Thanks for looking, best regards to you
It's nice to see you back mr snooze. Running the coronation sounds great.
I'm going to get it serviced up for the next video hopefully. All the best to you
Always a pleasure to watch, a dmu might go down well?
I haven't been able to find mine yet, I'll keep checking, I do like them. Take care, all the best to you
fantastic update Mr S.
Could you share the sort of temperature differences your railway room experiences ? my layouts always suffer from distorted track due to winter and summer changes either in the attic or garage.
Hello, I actually get a great deal of variation. At the moment in full sun its nearly 28C but in the depth of winter almost down to 0C. it's an unheated loft so lots of different temps. It would be great if it were constant, I do get some movement but I adjust the track a bit from time to time. I think a few expansion gaps are a good idea, leave a mil here and there. Take care, all the best to you
Great to see you back and running trains! On the subject of cleaning. I've recently purchased a quantity of Super 4 track to use with my old Triang rolling stock. I presume the best method of cleaning it (some track good, some a bit rusty!) would be to use an abrasive cleaning rubber? Was the Triang Super 4 track coated with anything originally? Now you've plated your track does that mean you can only clean it chemically as the abrasive rubber cleaner would wear down the plating? Thanks!
Thanks for watching, If you can slip the rails out, wire wool cleans them up a treat, otherwise I bet your rubber will work well. They did have some sort of thin plating when new, but it so disappears. Best regards to you
@@MrSnooze Thank you! That's very helpful. I think I'll have a go at what you suggest and slide the rail out to clean it. I seem to remember one of your previous videos showed how to remove/prise out the connectors.
Hi! I enjoyed your videos on cleaning and re-plating the steel Super 4 track but, as I have found your channel only recently, I may have missed commentary on my question: have you tried a) de-rusting and b) nickel-plating the rails without removing them from the plastic sleeper bed?
Hello, I have not tried that, it might be an interesting test. If you just de rust the rails and clean the rails with a scotchbrite pad you can get excellent running without plating. Anything to help conductivity between rail and wheel is beneficial. Thanks for looking, all the best to you
Thanks for the response.@@MrSnooze
Hi Mr Snooze, I was watching your vid about fitting ball bearings , do you think they could be used to fit the Hornby ringfield motor where they dont have any bearings
Kind Regards John.
Hello john, I take it you mean in the later plastic Ringfield motors where the shaft just runs in the black plastic. I bet it could be done. I'll pop it on my list. Take care, all the best to you
