Tony, I love this video. I have a Gillette Fatboy. It was my late father’s favorite razor & one of my favorites as well. It is a great safety razor. He used the razor for probably 50+ years and it still works perfect when I use it. The Vikings Emperor AUGUSTUS razor is a beautiful razor as well. BTW, I can not wait for your Mazda CX30 review & I love it when you say KEEP PUSHING PLAY.
I switched to a DE about 6 years ago. Merkur 34C. It’s still going strong. I prefer Astra Platinum blades. Since a 100 count is so cheap I dispose after 5 shaves. I often grow a short beard and shave it off, so I thought a adjustable razor might help make it more enjoyable. Nice review, thank you.
A fine shave, I’m a regular feather blade user, I actually find the King C Gillette blade to be quite sharp, I seem to take more care with this blade than I do with the feather, but do get around 10 + shaves with the C blade. Cheers🍻
Adjustable razors are great for people new to DE shaving. They can set it to a lower number (1-3) and then go to a higher number (4-6) as they get more skilled. BTW, you can get a good shave on the lower numbers, I have my Slim Adjustable set to 4.
Nice comparison shave. I have the VB Chrome Emperor and the Global Shave Club FatGuy (FatBoy Clone). Both give me close, comfortable, and irritation-free shaves. I agree that the FatBoy/Guy is easier to use because it is less bulky.
Really enjoy your DE-razor videos. How about a series of DE-blade review videos? Also, have you tried alum block as part of your after shave routine? For me alum block was a game changer and I no longer suffer from any post shave irritation.
Nice video Tony, I really must have another go at the double edge safety razor. I think an adjustable one would be good for the novice learning how but I can’t seem to find any in the UK
If I could grow a full beard, which I can't because it's just spots,I would just laser off whatever beard hairs that don't follow a perfect shape I want but now it's going grey and white---so I shave it off.I ended up getting the frosted chrome version of Emperor Augustus to save a little but still a great shave.A good craftsman never blames his tools for his mistakes of being too impatient and creating errors in his work;and you got nicks from both razors. Was it new blades? The slim adjustable is a lot cheaper on ebay and a lot easier to use under the nose compared to fatboy.
I don’t believe the Fatboy actually gave me a Nick - I thing I passed the blood over when I brushed the second pass lather on. I used new King C Gillette blades on both razors. They are on the mild side. Thanks for watching 👍🏽
@@averageguytested Think the max setting is a lot more than the fat boy 9,try a nine on viking razor or 8 but then again new blade always gets you a nick so I turn down lower.
@@averageguytested I already used the trimmer for the ole beard and it cut like a hot knife thru butta, the blades in my old one must be dull like hell, since these are new, they cut w/o any effort. Hair trim coming up soon.
These are the comparisons we want to see! Great vid.
Thanks!! More to come!
Great shave brah! Gillette Fatboy for the win 🏅 I appreciate the shout out brah 😎 🤙🏾 Have a good weekend 🙌🏾
Thanks, bro! You too!

Yes, classic design of the Fatboy made it just a hair better today.
Nothing like a fresh shaven face hey Tony 👍👍

Nice shave off, man juts saw the prices on Fat boy over on E-bay NOOOOOOOOO way i can afford that, nice video as well. Stay safe....cheers...Peter
They are expensive, but we’ll worth it! Cheers to you, Peter!
Safety razors give you a closer and smoother shave to save you a lot of money I gotta try one soon 🔜💰
Yes, they are fun to use as well. Go for it!

I haven’t tried it, but I hear that it works wonders.

Yes, a good adjustable safety razor is a must have!!
Soo cool that you have a real fatboy man. Thats a iconic razor right there!
Indeed.
Please do another review with slim adjustable
Ok!

@@averageguytested no problem I can't wait for a live Sunday shave if it's possible say ah 6 pm on a Sunday
Which would say gives a closer shave the leaf hybrid razor or the leaf twig razor?
The TWIG for sure. More control and contact with the beard.
does the adjustable ring on the emperor have a clickable adjustment like the fatboy?
No. I like that about the Fatboy
Does after shave make your skin feel cooled?
Some do - others sting and burn - in a good way.
Beard and mask, no bueno? you ain't kidding.
It’s the worst combo

Awesome!!!
Goodbye beard
For now.
I’ll tell ya this. The beard will not win!!!
Nope. Loses every time.
