    First thing the video loads I see the razor up close, BAM!! Metal gold, shiny, smooth metal, deep blacks, sparkle! Now THAT's how you start a razor review video, you see it right there, up close, perfect lighting and details just pop out.
    AMAZING VIDEO
    Good username and no clickbait title/thumbnail. That's how I like to see videos. No silly intros before the video, just get right in there. I been scouring the Vikings Emperor reviews, couldn't take most of them seriously. Now this video was incredibly detailed, you didn't miss the different sides feature, you covered the adjustment settings, razor feedback/chatter, missed how you felt your face after the second pass 9:24 , you let us know what dial setting you were at each time.
    I will be trying to get a Vikings Emperor Meiji the one with the Red mark, once I decided whether to stay with my Gillette mint condition Slim, Fatboy or Mergress and also part with my brand new in box Gillette Fatboy style Russian razor. I don't want no razor collection start growing now. Just want to compare and move on. Hopefully I will get to own a Meiji soon enough.

    First and foremost, that’s a beautiful razor. I have a Parker 99R and the Gillette heritage. When the mood hits me I use them. I tend to feel a little tense and stressed when using a safety razor because it requires more skill and I’m a little bit of a fast shaver. I enjoy shaving so I really enjoy the benefits of my Gillette cartridge as far as always getting a close shave basically no matter what mistakes I make. You know right now I’m completely addicted to the Gillette heated razor!! As far as you needing to let the video, ”Breath” I personally don’t think you need to because I thoroughly enjoy your commentary and I still always hear the feedback from the razor, but it’s your show and you definitely have the “Secret Recipe!” I really enjoyed it a couple of times when you just sat on your couch or Jeep and took questions and talked about whatever popped up for an extended period of time! You should do more of those if you feel like it. They were a lot of fun and the conversation just kind of went where it went, however it was always thoroughly entertaining!

    This razor is quite something. Mine has been slowly loosing the paint and it has little ugly imperfections here and there that I noticed after months of use... but boy, does it give great shaves! It glides through your face with ease and none of the imperfections have an negative impact on the shave.

    From 2:37-4:20, you do a good job of explaining how slow you have to go with this razor. I found out the hard way that you CANNOT go fast. Even on the inside of the box, it states, “DO NOT PRESS the safety razor against your skin, like cartridge razors. It will hack your face.” Then, states, “LET THE RAZOR WEIGHT fall on your hair in many shorts strokes, at 30-45 degrees. Do not drag or pull.”
    A few other instructions, as well. Even on the website, it states to towel dry the head to protect the finish. I must admit, I go somewhat fast with my Bevel DE, Henson AL13 and my Rockwell 6C. Gotta change the way you shave with the Vikings Blade.

    • @averageguytested
      @averageguytested 6 місяців тому

      Indeed. So the Bevel and Henson are specifically designed to be less aggressive, which makes for an easier shave. My suggestion to you with the Vikings Blade is to dial the aggressiveness all the way down to a one and use the flat side of the razor head for the least abrasive shave. Thanks for watching 👋🏽

      @@averageguytested I just shaved with it for the third time. I used those tips. I also, went very slow. Probably, got the smoothest shave since I’ve had it. I guess the third time is the charm. 😁

    Thanks for this video. Great close & smooth shave. Have you ever compared canned foam vs. shaving brush & soap ? Is there shave wise any difference between both methods ?

    • @averageguytested
      @averageguytested 4 роки тому +2

      I love a good can of foam - but the shaving purists swear by a brush and soap. There is a nice feeling of accomplishment when you can whip up your own and you have a bit more control. I’d liken it to driving manual instead of automatic. I’m an automatic kind of guy. I love your idea of the comparison and I will make the video 🪒- thanks!!!

    Does the bottom part of the handle, which opens the butterfly, ever move on you, while you’re shaving? For me, it doesn’t seem to lock in place.

    I just bought 4 tubes of Duke Cannon for $2.50 each at my local CVS , then I went to three other CVS's and now I have 9 . I was shocked that they have a decent line of shaving products including ''Blade'' ( CVS ) brand DE razors , soap and brush's. I also noticed there line of Cartridge blades , (Gillette and etc) at discounted prices , ''Buy one pack and get a second for 50% off. The whole section looked as if there bringing in more wet shaving products and phasing out some of the Cartridges. Very interesting.....

    i like warm hot water rinse to keep the pores open. open pores means the balm/ aftershave gets into the skin to heal it. I dont understand why you'd want to close the pores with cold water. seems to me , you want the moisturizer to get into the skin. If you close the pores , how are you getting anything INTO the skin. ?

I am thin and extremely defined in many ways, including the adams apple ridges, bones, and the valleys to the sides of the neck. I love this razor and tend to use astra blades as well. Its still fairly new though so Ill still be experimenting with blades just for fun. It seems to handle a wider range than most of my razors. I like that as much as the feel and aesthetics of the emperor
