New Dollarton is a modified version of the River Delta map. This is a map based on New York city including New Jersey, Brooklyn, The Bronx and various surrounding cities and landscapes.

I feel relocking is more in line with playing how you would’ve played if this feature was in the game from the start, if that helps at all
i litteraly cant put healthcare into my 2000 people city cause its too expensive

I wouldn't mind the tile upkeep concept if you could build networks outside your purchased tiles so you only pay upkeep on tiles that could potentially generate tax revenue and not ones you only bought to build a rail or road connection.

you can with anarchy, but for console users or vanilla players i can see how this would be a problem. I do feel like it encourages the player to maybe build along rail networks and highways they built to make use of tiles they bought, almost mimicking how towns sprout up along transport corridors in real life.
Such a bad game design decision!

Just a warning, you need to address the economy stat, it can really spiral out of control. Getting 529 and relocking all tiles where you have no zoning or placed buildings is a valid option to help, if not an outright must.

I love how there is a hulking hospital building overlooking lawrenceville much like in Pittsburgh in real life. Maybe take a look at Childrens and the other UPMC facilities for hulking neighborhood hospital complex ideas
Btw you can lower decals into the ground like in CS1 and they become more transparent exactly the same. Click on decal, use transform, change increment value to 0.1 or 0.01 and lower the Y axis and it’ll become semi transparent 👍

The addition of the tile upkeep fee makes me feel like there needs to be a way to sell tiles back to the world to gain back tiles and some of the money you spent on them. The main use case would be temporarily buying tiles to landscape or build infrastructure between isolated parts of your city, and you would only be able to sell tiles that don't have any buildings or zoning in them.

On Beechwood Street (at the college) I'd put the combined residential-commercial buildings, some shops and some bars for the students makes sense

Just tried playing today after a few weeks. Mods aren't loading, game freezes often and crashes after 20 minutes. Never had these issues before. What gives?

Citizens can only receive unemployment for a limited amount of time. When they run out of unemployment, they will complain about “High Rent” and move away.

Is anyone else having issues with their mods since economy 2.0? None of my mods are loading up anymore - I use pretty much the same ones as in video

same. no mods. I uninstalled the game, signed out of Steam, restarted the PC, signed back in, reinstalled the game, loaded it... still nothing works
This game has so much potential it could even be a war simulator or have different time periods I would love to build a 1920s city people walking in suits and dresses

Actually, the idea of reenacting diferent time periods in industrial history appeals to the historian in me.
What about recreating the Japanese era of growth, say, the Sixties up to the Eighties?
Tile upkeep is a bit steep, definitely if you want to create a big nature reserve or only crossing the tile with a network (like a road), taxability/profitability isn't high on those tiles, but you pay a ton for the upkeep
I thought you'd planned on revisiting Sunset City a few months ago? I just can never get into CS2 content. 😔

In the new update I'm still making tons of money (though before I was making over 50 million a month) however there is no demand for workplace zoning while my unemployment is nearly 20%, and the residential zoning never goes down.
I think you wouldn't see a river next to a cemetry because of ground contamination
But I really like how it turned out
Was super excited for CS2 but held off due to the issues. This patch has made me finally want to play the game.
I would keep the tiles as long as you can afford to lose the money. Would be a nice challenge again to even out the unrealistic financial advantage you had before this update came out :)

I would love to see some new more dense development with some structure like row houses or blocks which makes an area look really realistic with "city vibes" :) btw the view from the cemetery looks really awesome, from that perspective especially it all really looks like a real city... ^^

They did Economic 2.0 wrong.
1. Instead of make the game harder by severe the consequences of undelivered goods/services and encourage the player to create a better traffic; they punish the player by placing services with higher upkeep cost.
2. Bug small coal power plant (the first mandatory item that needed for the cities) output and upkeep cost for not same as its description.
3. Unrealistic no traffic light for every crossing still a solution for traffic jam. Player have no consequences for deleting traffic light.
4. Citizen still crossing even with no crosswalk.
Hope dev can do better.
BTW. If any of you creators can elevate this issue to CO for hot fixing immediately: Office zone bug where they reduce employee count every 45 minutes game time, ending up with all at 5 employees. This crashes taxes for the city and obvi unemployment! You can't afford the tiles if we don't have lucrative offices!
Hey I know you asked this in the last episode, but I thought it would be a really good idea to name some parts of the city after bank jobs, since it's themed around money. Like the old New York commuter train, the Broker, and it's sister train, the Banker, both named after most of their passengers, since brokers and bankers would ferry over the river from the Financial District and get on these trains to get to their homes in New Jersey.
Just uh.. Don't look up what happened to the Broker. ;)
You should look at the H1 and H201 freeways in Hawaii as some inspiration for your freeway system... They have to contend with difficult geology and dense urban environment. There might be some good ideas there.
lucky you have no deadwave,this also a big thing, with city of 360k ,i got 5.3k deads a week,and this for 2 months. be prepared of this.,before you open you map,unlock all map tiles,and you don't pay for it,or you can see cityplanner how he deal with it. there is other option,but to complicated to write this down.
i Just tried a new game, new city, and lasted to Autumn when i went into negative debt... after being basically forced to buy the services such as police station, fire station, morgue, Medical Centre, imported electricity, etc and raising tax rates to 14 per cent - failure!! I think this economic model 2.0 needs some more fine tuning before i come back to the game again
It's now AutoCAD for City Planners. I used to play this just to relax with a little bit of designing, not for me. Lost half of their playerbase.
I have given up on the game the cost of survives are not realisitc. I been playing for months, and yes, the economy was broken and was way to easy, but now the price of services now are completly unrealistic. The other way. They got me going back to playing CS1cwhich I have not done so since CS2 came out. Pure garbage
After the update my game is broken. HUD is gone when I start use anything on the tool bar, but when I first load the game it's slow as hell... and it's unplayable - and no, I have no mods installed. Nice update.

Hey. Maybe you can help me. I’ve tried installing the find it and move it mods. They don’t appear anywhere on my game, only on the mods playset. Please, it’s starting to get annoying 😢
For some reason, my tile upkeep was actually not that bad (even though I have a lot of tiles) but I felt like my cost of city services went way up (not importing anything)
Love tile upkeep in concept, but it needs to be renamed to "Administrative Fees" and rebalanced with not just area but population (population density).

Video needs an updated name. I usually do not enjoy detailing too much, but can if I’m in the right headspace. Title of the video gives no warning that this actually a heavy duty detailing episode.
Not a fan of this crash game fest. Really bad what Paradox and CO did with the CS2. Still too much limited in everything against CS 1.
i recently found out you can get almost 20 more fps by closing water animation in the dev tools. even more suprising is nothing changes visually when you make it zero. the sad thing is when time passes it returns to 1x speed and fps drops again. please try this and you will get the idea. i am trying to find a solution to this problem help me
I'm starting to play CS2 and wow, I usually don't go bankrupt in CS1. It's very challenging now.

everyone is getting distracted that they "fixed" the economy. now the game is harder, services too expensive, yet no actual updates. add line tool and move it to base game, and then we can talk. the game is getting worse.
Time for some urban sprawl in all those tiles you've unlocked, adding to the tax base and using that massive residential demand you have

You should place a coal power plant in an old industrial district and detail it to look abandoned. You could use it to generate power for your city and then turn it off when you have a better option for electricity
i feel like that the game is pretty good already, its just that every city, and i mean every city looks the same, there is no themes or nothing, there is no deserts theme, no jungle theme, no anything

24:42 - if i remember correctly the fence tool gives you the option to rotate and space the objects out!
I went to update it and the entire game needed to be installed again. I never uninstalled it so idk why it’s doing this hahaha.

My mods not working after the update
How are your graphics looking so clear and crisp, with details on the buildings? I'm running an RTX3070TI and have all graphics settings on high, but buildings have almost no detail on them, they are pretty uninteresting!
I’m not sure I’m tweaking some general settings in Advanced. Try turning off things like motion blur and depth of field. I’m also using Lumina mod to crank up the brightness and contrast

Tile upkeep is stupid and not realistic
I just loaded my latest saved file.
Population 81k
credit/hour 860,000
Tiles purchased 238
No mods
Ran the game at max speed for about 30 minutes. Results:
Massive death wave (expected), BUT, population still increased to 84k
Credit/hour down to 160,000
So, If I had not "bought" all the tiles available then the credit/h would be higher, but, the tile "tax" was not a big issue with all possible tiles owned. However, I can see this being an issue of you used a mod to open up all the tiles.
I did have one issue, my metro line was broken in an odd way. One of the metro trains was stuck on "Boarding" at a station . I only noticed cause my metro line goes "above ground" for a tiny bit, and I noticed that a line of metro trains began to form up. Had to destroy and rebuild a station to get things going again.
Will leave the game running overnight to see what happens. But, so far, it looks good (a lot of the "high rent" icons have gone away, but that might just be due to the massive death wave).
how did you get all your mods to work?
mine are 70% disabled because they no longer work since the update (better bulldozer, find it, etc.)
They need to revamp the growable’s really. If they implemented a system like the one in manor lords, I’d be straight back onto CS:II
Geurnsey looks exactly like a neighbor in the Dutch town Groningen called Helpman.. that’s super cool love the realism
Next thing to be tackled should really be terrain conforming and being able to drag straight sloped roads. Some of the areas in your project are perfect examples.
