New Dollarton is a modified version of the River Delta map. This is a map based on New York city including New Jersey, Brooklyn, The Bronx and various surrounding cities and landscapes.
Pennyville's smaller neighbouring town backstory by Heru:
Pennyville started off as a small hamlet in the early 1800s. Before the American Revolution, it only consisted of a few fishing huts.
While places like New Dollarton and Dimesburg underwent massive changes during the Industrial revolution, the quaint town of Pennyville retained it's rural charm. But as traffic on the river grew, so did unwanted guests and migrants.
During the prohibition era, Pennyville became a hotspot for gambling and alcohol. A house of cards that came crashing down during the Great Depression.
even the Great Deal wasn't enough to dredge up what's left of Pennyville. It was abandonned altogether, Left to sink into the bay. Hopefully drowning the ghosts along with it.

The Land value overhaul mod fixes the high rent bug
Or a patch, shouldn’t need a mod to make the game work… they can’t have intended it to be this impossible to balance
@@seankennedy7970 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ you right but this is city skylines we're talking about.
@@theorixlux *You're
@@theorixluxackshually it’s *cities* skylines 🤓👆
@@seankennedy7970 It has gotten better with the most recent patch, but if we've learned anything from the last game we know they don't care about fixing bugs.
wait til you click on a high rent building and find out it's dogs complaining...maybe we need to let them pay with rent with treats and toys...Im kinda being serious lol
You’ll be wondering what a house is complaining about until you check and see that it’s only resident is a single child and 3 dogs lmao
@@comicman3173 What Disney movie is that 😭⁉️
@@Ponyalaa it’s the story of Gaul Springfield, the kid who was approached by the magical Tax Fairy 😭
Lower pet store taxes 😭
Ah man I’ve heard about this 😢
"Rent is too damn high" - so I guess Paradox finally released a realistic simulator huh.
Turns out, having a whole ton of people in the same place makes that place more expensive
@@TheSkyGuy77 except in this game the rents are 10x more insane than in vancouver
Im gettin NJ vibes from that waterfront. Love the series so far
Hello, Mr.Twenty. I like your video. I am send good vibe from hometown of San Francisco.
At 32:08 This industrial area should become a green fuel plant or a waste incinerator
It's nice to watch you just play and enjoy this game I've seen so many videos recently of people complaining about all the floors
I’ve got my complaints too that I think I’ve outlined a bit over the last episodes but I am very much enjoying this game
Green Crest should be renamed No Green Left😂😂
If his name is Penny, than IT should be the Penny's Ville 😅
the high rent bug is insanely out of control and makes gameplay impossible, much like real life
Use the mod for that problem and it works
Bayonne - pronounced- Bay-own
❤ these cities 🤜🏿🤛🏻
hi
Sorry 2:20 I just can't watch this content anymore. The game is trash which is not your fault but spending an entire episode trying to fix something that is actually broken isn't a fun watch. I'd suggest you download and use the land value mod so you don't have to continue wasting your time trying to balance a known gameplay bug.
The title of video correspond to the REAL ppl who bought this piece of trash
it’s not trash - you can’t do anything with trash.
It just needs work
Having an old 70's style strip mall lined with parking between the warf and residential in green crest would be cool. I'm imagining classic arcades, roller rinks, drive thrus, etc.
As one of the main streets of the area is called Florence boulevard, Maybe the Bayonne inspired area could be called Florence/ Florenceville?
Done! Love it
I've said it so many times before but hell, that sim city 4 music just never gets old, does it?
NEVER!
If and when you get to the equivalent of Manhattan (Yen-hattan?), it would be so cool to recognize the historical layout of the first Dutch and English cities. I think it would add a great sense of history, just my two cents!
Wan-hattan? 😊
Absolutely I love that idea
Stratten Island 😂
Low rent housing and a welfare office . I’ve seen so many content creators complaining about low rent problem but never seen them put down low rent housing lol .
You could name the new area something like Portsmouth, Watergate (lol), Seaview, Rivermouth, Firth, or maybe if you want that sense of history you could literally call it Oldport or maybe Altport beceause when you build another port you can call that one Newport. Great video as always 👍🏽
This map is honestly really phenomenal and I’ve been building on it for a few weeks. I’m on my second city (first one was kind of a prototype) and I can say this is hands down my favorite map (custom maps included). You really did a good job with this map and I’m excited to see how our cities differ with the different things we did but also the similarities they share
To be fair, I doubt any of us in the real world would be happy either if our rent shot up exponentially whenever a corner shop opens in our district. As if real estate weren't _already_ bad enough...
Whole Belgium be complaining bout high rent 😂
Tbh so am I
Love Sheffield crossing as a name. Has the bridge crossing the river as well so you could called that ‘Sheffield Bridge’ or something
I think it would be very interesting if the long street that now ends in the old industry by the water (Moore street) extended over the river and curved back inland to create a reservoir/stormwater management lake. These are pretty common in industrial areas and would be very attractive to redevelop into a park in a nicer area later.

Because you got offices got offices built in or industrial nearby to increase the land value what level complain about high rent in city planner players most recent video you sure you're mod to tackle this what actually comes in handy cos if you industrial offices increase the land value and make it on affordable I need to get a mod on the road make it easier😊😊😊😊
The Sheffield cross fits the actual city name. Sheffield was once also called ‘Steel City’ due to how large its steel manufacturing capacity was
was so surprised to see my city get a mention!!
For the sleeper road you can stratch it far out in the bay so you can make a big harbor or tourist attraction
I've gone back to CS1 for now. You can see it so much in so many people's CS2 videos. Even aside from the bugs, the game is very dull. Industrial, schooling, zoning, it all gets very repetitive very quickly. Too many things in CS2 just feel like a back step relative to CS1.
Maybe in a few years, with mods and DLC updates, CS2 will be at least on par with CS1.
But for the moment, CS2 has better roads and better mass transit line tools. But that's about it. And not even really better roads. It's just easier to place them.
I'm pretty sure Bayonne is pronounced like "bay-ahn"
Everything looks so brand new and clean, it really reaaaaaally takes away from realism :( I really wish that city was made in CS1.. that would definitely be hyper iconic.
Green crest should be called “The Rocks”. A little throw back to early Sydney days
It is what it is... they present crap and people react to it. Some maybe calling it a complete farse as a reaction and others just stare at it with disgust but i guess if its your Job like it is for 2$20 i guess he has to soldier on and do something with the game.
I think you should definitely come up wirh new names, instead of New Dollarton.
How about these:
New Jersey (New Varsity)
Manhattan (Kingsman)
Brooklyn (Brougham)
Staten Island (Colony Island)
Bronx (The Crown)
Queens (Dames)
Since Green Cerst is considered an old industrial area (wharf), I thought it would be funny to name it after Milburn Pennybags (The Monopoly Man).
Perhaps Milburn was the owner of the industrial area and you can choose the name Milburn wharf.
But you can also make a link with your own name "two dollars twenty" and "Pennybags". So maybe you can call Green Crest Pennybags wharf :D
11:10 Bayonet. As in, you know, the knifey bit on a musket?
Also, the "Pennyville" backstory I wrote actually referred to a derelict ghost town along the bay.
NOT the rural town that became the "true" Pennyville.
I really recommend looking into the thunderstorm mods. There’s so many great ones that I haven’t really had problems with. They’re actually game changing and make it even more fun
2.20: Personality is deffently more important than looks in my opinion
Normal guy: Yeah deffently agree, the look of women isn’t all that matters.
2.20: Women?
I'm just glad they quit screwing with the first game and making unnecessary "patches" every 3 months, which broke people's saves.
What a great sign of an old neighborhood: someone's new modern vision interrupting someone's old vision of how the neighborhood should be designed. Happens all the time. Love it!
I think it's good that they made the industrial buildings look whiter than other buildings. You can always spot the industrial areas on google earth because of the whiter colour. I guess it's because of the tin roofs and concrete.
Residents complaining about high rent is a known bug, unfortunately. You have to use a mod. Sorry.
Is the LUT depressing?
Too high rent does my head in. No one wants large SFH in nice areas. I just want some expensive suburbs with huge houses
This game is inferior to CS1 in pretty much every way. Props to you 2$20 for keeping at it man.
is "loose goosey" an australian thing ? because the only times i heard it was from daniel ricciardo and you ahah
I think you should put a harbour or dock at the end of Moore st instead of the industry, and change the name to "Moor" because the ships used to dock and moor at the end of the street. Also fits that ships would dock there as its a protected harbour close to the sea port
I’ve got an idea….I recommend building the rest of Springfield County
I thought the name of this video was going to refer to the non pre release UA-camr CS2 players.
16:10 OH NO NOT AGAIN
Love your CS2 series!
When I saw the title you best I thought this was a comment on Cities Skylines 2 Reviews 😂😂😂
been waiting for this
The land value/high rent is a bug
at least CO make some video for tips and tricks to handle the bugs, lol
I love how a high rent home has only dogs in it.
Have you considered reorienting Sheffield Street? 😊
i miss city skylines 1 number 2 without mods isn't the same
Fantastic video mate! City looks great! have you thought about adding double blocks throughout the small housing neighbourhoods for variety? :P
Cheers! What do you mean by double blocks? I’m curious 😊
@@twodollarstwenty A double block of land. Twice the size of a normal block of land. From what I have seen usually you build your house, shed etc. on one half and leave the other half as grass with a tree or two, that way you can choose to subdivide them into two standard blocks and sell them separately.
Is it possible to name one of tonws Roshn on of Neowm area
People complaining about rent being high is never gonna go away because it's a bug within the game right now. There's a mod that can fix it for the time being.
Simcity 2013 music?
when is cities skylines 1 coming back?
im excited to see the rail network get started. the whole jersey city-newark metropolis gets really cool when it comes to it. on another note, maybe call it the cointon river? also fyi- its . nj natives also call newark but
If your going for a historical name: Lewiston. Francis Lewis was a signer of the Declaration of Independence and served as the equivalent of secretary of the navy under the Articles of Confederation. Could be perfect for an old waterfront area.
A name for the new area "Docklands"
5:40 like its impossible to build oneself out of a policy failure to control rent , especially when theres high demand pushing offers and rent trough the roof
10:05 this is where CS2 couldve had stuff like rentcontrol policies cuz especially on multiunit buildings its really trickling down the cuts since the taxation is likelier on the landlord that then raises or partly lowers rents according to the tax , tho it is less clear when its SFH since that could genuienly be owned by the occupants
[Greencrest] idk but maybe Northbay as a district name or smth
A name suggestion for the new development area could be Scarborough. Based off the Toronto neighbourhood/city that’s in a similar location.
If the area west of New Dimesburg is to be industrial like, why not name it Port Dollartown or similar and place the cargo terminal there?
100 likers
new video nice
I like how people are trying to make the best of it and the rest are labeled as toxic gamers. By best of it i mean really really trying hard but just trying
"The Shiny Quarter"
Shout out to SC4 intro ❤
Awesome video! I was wondering what is the name of the background music at 13:22?
The new development area would be a great spot for a university & old town neighbourhood
frome bd op city
You should add more one ways to make the grids more efficient and less congestion between intersections
As someone who lives nearby, I can confirm it is pronounced "Bay-own" haha. SUPER industrial area, lots of oil refineries to be specific, and Port Newark is the largest port in the Northeast USA. I used to work over there.
As a suggestion, you should take a look at Hoboken, NJ, next to Jersey City. Theirs a massive rail yard separating the two, which could be cool to try and replicate, and Hoboken is all classic row housing. I live there now, and they are starting to upgrade some buildings up-town to medium density residential. Its been very interesting to watch your build inspired by a place so close to home, keep up the good work!
Thanks dude I’ll take a gander
You're right. That industry area is/was dumb. Made me stop watching. Couldn't respect myself.
Huh
please download the land value fix mod, its a bug in the game
I love your content and that you are still staying in cs2 and not riding the wave ❤
69ers!
Really wish you could more than just add trees to improve the city appearance. Props and decals are sorely missed.
That’s coming in a few weeks 😊
welp. so much for me going to bed....
Keep the vids coming
Less roads i guess
I think Moore Street could’ve been a road connecting an early harbour to a village or town farther inland. These old paths often run along ridges to prevent steep climbs and such. That street kind of runs along a ridge as well. The city center of Green Crest could’ve formed at the crossroads of the Street leading into New Dimesburg and Moore Street, which could also explain the name “Green Crest” since that’s exactly what it would’ve been once. On the seaside end of Moore St there could either be an old building, maybe a wharf or arrival hall that’s been turned into a city administration building. Or a modern 1960s development to symbolise how the Industry around the harbour was built over when the port of New Dimesburg finally overtook the port of Green Crest in importance when ships got bigger and couldn’t navigate into the bay easily anymore. Moore Street should also be renamed into something like Dockland Street or after a persons name, to commemorate the founder of Green Crest.
Don’t think you looked at your population unemployment figure once in the video at least. I’ve not really had any problems with high rent by keeping unemployment at 0%
You do have to add an annoying amount of industry in the beginning but you can sub that out later with fields/ mines ect or the big factories which have thousands of jobs each
Make a boat
What?
Green crest shuld be called something like Iron gate park in reference to the old Ore industry that it was known for
Love that!
The high rent areas need to be changed to high density buildings. This is how CS2 works and how cities grow over time.
It’s incessant though, even on medium and high density buildings. Its clearly a bug
CS2 is alright honestly it doesn't have that relaxin' vibe like the retro game in my POV.
