Fantastic demo, I learned a lot! I have an FX6 and was on the fence of getting the A1 for a hybrid camera, but went with the A7R V instead as it is just an incredible "value" for a hybrid mirrorless. Glad to see how capable it's video footage is in the hands of a pro colorist.

It would be really interesting to see you build a look for some of your watch photo raw files in DaVinci. How the qualifiers and color page work with photos vs video would be a unique comparison. I wonder if it would be a development workflow photographers could use as well...
Sounds like fun but wouldn't be practical since Resolve isn't a photo app.

- I'm using Imac M1 and slog 2 - MATRIZ ITU 709 in my A7sIII ... sometimes my clients are still saying that my final video is kinda dark on their screen, so... is there any Display profile, that you recommend for them just for the sake of having the same standard revisions (?) ( sRGB IEC61966-2.1 / HD 709-A or something else )
Probably they have non calibrated displays on mac's and I don't know that suggest to saving time and misunderstandings, the only thing I can say is that my scopes aren't crush on blacks and highlights. I'm using your workflow with some variations like: YRGB Color Managed + HDR Davinci Wide Gamut Intermediate + Rec709-A , that's all, any help with this will be appreciated 🙏
I have that camera right now and I've been using it for a month already (I'm a Sony's tester) and it blew my mind, I was expecting only an amazing photo camera with video features, but it actually not only blew my mind with the photo and AI autofocus but in video department was more than I thought, I own a FX3 that is superior in the video department but trust me, the gap is not big(except in low-light situation, even though the noise pixels are smaller), I even believe that in color science is even better than FX3 because I used both in a multicam project. If you also do photography, don't think twice, trust me! if you need more footage from the camera, just let me know.

are you going to switch from fx3 to a7rv, because im about to purchase one of them for long term, and im between one of them, im 70 video and 30 photos.

Hi, I am amazed you mentioned FX3 and that the gap isn't that much considering the rolling shutter on RV is quite bad compared to FX3.

Nice work man! I'm curious why your grain goes up front in the node tree? I would've thought to put it at the end of the chain. Any technical reason to put it up front?
In my opinion, it will look more natural and blend better if you place it somewhere at the beginning before all other adjustments. If you place it at the end, it might look too digital or faked.

6:25 how did you get to the remote grading? And what is it?
12:43 when it comes to Qualifiers it's better to use the "Qualifier 3D" instead of the "Qualifier HSL" to have way better control and speed when selecting specific colors without the hassle of being stuck to a range of neighboring colors. The 3D route allows you to jump around colors on the spectrum without having to worry about neighboring colors. Way better and quick. Other than that this is a cool tutorial.

Not always true. And I have used it in the past and had much better luck with HSL.

Hi what size are the medium raw files. Taylor Jackson did a video were he said they are still to large. Im surprised as they looked about a 24mp file size.
Fx3 vs Sony a7v which one is better
R6 Mark II would be great! It's the best camera in its class (followed by the A7IV then the S5 II which are crippled by cropped 4K modes and bad rolling shutter).
Btw, as far as MP go, just uprez the files in Adobe Camera Raw to 60 from your A7IV and you should get great results. Use the built in Enhance feature if needed. It's not worth all the extra money just for MP.
I compared the R6 II vs the R5 and when I upscaled to 45 MP using Adobe Camera Raw, in "blind" testing my buddy and I could not see any real world difference even zoomed to 100% on a 5k monitor..(in fact the R6 II upscaled files using Enhance actually looked sharper/more detailed) and we have 30 years of graphic design and photography experience between us. Tested on landscape, natural light and studio portraits using the best RF lenses (RF 50 and 85 1.2). I saved $2000 cdn and got the R6 II. This also sold me on 24 MP over the 33 MP of the A7IV because the Sony had a lot of drawbacks as mentioned (can't deal with crops in 2023) and the terrible LCD and questionable ergos made me just not want to go with that cam despite the fact it's probably quite good.
I’d definitely have the XH2s above the R6 II, and the S5IIx over both the S5II and A7IV

I am a hybrid shooter, i had an A7SIII but i needed more MPX, so now i have a A7IV, and i love It... But 4K 60p crop... Ughhhh i should buy this A7RV?? The crop is just 1.2
I am total Sony fan. While being beginner freelancer doing both video and photography and havin small income, I need hybrid solutions. Altough at the moment I have Sony A6400, but hoping to upgrade at some point.. And don’t know anything of DVX100 nor HVX200 😅

I said it a million times but let me say it one more time there are a billion ways to grade my job is to show you different ways and then you pick what works best for you.

@@theqazman Dude you're taking this the wrong way. Just consider me as some1 new in Davinci and who takes your word for granted when it comes to Color Grading. I have a lot of respect for you and love the way you grade.
I just feel a bit confused as to which color space to use, because you speak about both of them equality without ever mentioning the difference. So what's the difference for some1 who is using Sony S-Log3 for example?
I really like the camera specific grade concept but it would be nice to see you venture outside Sony, specifically Canon (R5C, R6ii) and Fuji (XH2S). I still much prefer their colour science. Sony has improved but still requires a lot of tweaking, especially in mixed lighting. Great job as always though here, end result is night & day with the rec709!

Thanks for the tutorial, but I have a doubt. On almost every one of your lessons you always seem to have a different way to do the Color Transform method so it get's confusing which is actually the best way. I shoot Sony almost 100% 10 bit S-log and have several of your videos and almost everyone you say a different way of doing the color transform workflow including project settings..
There about a billion ways to grade a shot. I'm here to show you all of them. You get to pick whichever one works for you. 😀

@@JamesWilliams-in3py at least for sony i find that i get the most control if i cst to aces. and i can probly get around 13.5 usable stops with my a7iv, even tho i think sony says it has 15 i think. but arri cameras gives u what they actually advertise it as.

Like we kno abt teal n orange but not much about other type like bleach bypass, cross process n other style that do exist ... The general way to get those looks ( with their traits like high/ low contrast, etc)
