Number 1. Fly net - The Aussie bush fly has been known to drive the toughest individuals mad! They truley are "determiniation with wings"
These "glorous creatures" just never stop trying to get into your eyes, ears, up your nose, into your mouth everywhere.
I can only take these flies for a short while and then I start to loose the plot and want to give up! I hate flies!
Wearing a fly net when I detect, keeps me sane!
They are cheap, ranging in price from about $5 to $20 and work remarkably well.
I have bought quite a few different types over the years, and I do find the the ultra cheap fly nets tend to break easy, especially when you catch them on tree branches. I've upgraded to some slightly more "up market" nets and they do last longer.
I would recommend every begiiner prospector to get a fly net. Well worth the money.

Number 2. Magnet - Save yourself a lot of wasted time digging junk targets by having a magnet attached to your pick.
It doesn;t have to be bolted on, or have a special pick mounting. A good strong magent with stick and stay to your pick for as long as you want.
When you get a detecor signal, simply wave the maget over the target and if its ferrous (wire, rust, bits of time eytc) it will quickly attach itself to the magnet and save you a heap of time lookijng for it.
Preferably get a magnet with a smooth surface, this makes it easier tor emove the junk that collects to it. You will be surpised what it will find.

Number 3: Knee Pads - Once you reach a certain age, you start to find that kneeling down on hard or stoney surface is no longer enjoyable.
These kneepads sure change all that. I use these when kneeling down to knock in tent pegs, dig out metal detector targets, change tyre pressure on my vehicle, and the list goes on.
One of the best investiments I ever made. Sure put the joy back into detecting for me.

Number 4: GPS App with Lease Boundaries
Knowing where you are and what gold lease you are on, it vital to staying on the right side of the law.
I have been using the Australian Geology Travel Maps Application (availble on Google Play and Apple App Store)
There is a yearly fee to use the app (less than $20) and there is a yearly fee to get the latest lease boundaries (around $12 per year)
So for about $3 per month, you get an amazing Australian made app, with updted information.
It has information about gold deposits, abandoned gold mines etc
    Well worth getting.

    Number 5: Digital scale
Once you found a nugget or 2, you are going to be dying to know how much it weighs. Even the best of prospectors still can accurately guess the weight of small nuggets, so get yourself a set of digital scales.
Maks sure you get a scale with a calabration weight included.
Othwise, you can get some wildy different values, depending on location and environment.

Half-tip #:1 Compass - Knowing which way is north when detecting is vital, plus having the ability to note the direction quartz veins, reefs and joining are is super heand to finding out where gold nugget mineralized zones on a reef might be,
They are very easy to use, any beginner gold prospewctor can figure it ourt in a minute or two, and super easy and compact to carry around with yopu.
Its something you will keep for years and years.

    Half Top # 2 - Digging gloves
The ground that you find gold nuggets here in Western Australia, can be very unforgiving on hands that are not use to daily manul work that caused callous on your hads,
If you are an office worker like myself, my hands start to soon suffer handling thedirst here in WA.
Having apair of good digging gloves that won't make you hands too hot, and allows you toeasily pick up small obejects is very important.

Hey guys thanks for stopping by! I Hope you are getting your gear ready for the new gold prospecting season coming up. As soon as I can organise the leave from work, I'm heading out. I think I'm starting to develop the shakes.. Need to get back on the detector.
I hope you all enjoy this video and please leave a comment if there's anything you think I should add to the list.
    Happy gold hunting..

Thanks again Bruce! I would add a good quality pick and a plastic scoop to that list. If you don't dig, you won't find gold!

All good advice, thanks. I dig every signal, even when the detector says "iron". I've heard too many stories of a nugget being found in the same hole, so I re-check the holes after I remove a metal can, for example. Thanks for posting.

Absolutely! It's amazing what could be hiding under a piece of tin or an old horseshoe!

A Bic lighter is invaluable, when technology fails IE Your running handheld UHF radios and you lose reception because you've walked over an ironstone Ridge or put a wrong waypoint in your GPS.So your lost, with a Bic you can light a fire and be found,Also great to test your machine by seeing how far you can wave it above your coil.Learning to chase the faintest signals makes you a better detectorist .Especially In WA attach 1.7 metres of nylon cord and .75 metres of chain to your belt,by dragging the chain you can always follow the chain marks to find your way home. Also great for proving an area and finding that first piece.Go 200 metres north move across 10 m back to the start go South 200 metres and do the same and so on.Your building a 400 metre bicycle wheel, great for large open areas

It can;t do it via GPS, but it could if you had a Sat Phone connected!
The new StarLink system sure looks neart.. Bit pricey though!

You have to update Triolibite, it is not a automatic update.
