Well said mate. I could not agree more. I am planning my 4th prospecting trip now and have so far not found any gold at all. But when I come back after a week alone in the bush, I am a different man. More rested, patient, overall a better dad and husband. What I find everytime (whatever this is called) seems to be more beneficial to my life than gold. Please people, keep Australia beautiful, respect fauna and flora and cleanup after yourselves. Enjoy😀
Good day to you Bruce, I’ve been prospecting for 2 years now, and like your self come back empty handed many times. The bush has got that solitude that we all need and makes you appreciate what you have at home, sitting around the campfire with a few beers and some good tucker these is nothing better. Thanks for the videos
Very true mate it’s the fun and thrill of finding hunting it Enjoy the sights the bush the scenery the sunrises the sunsets The characters you meet it’s all just amazing I am heading back over in April for 4 months with my 4500 love this machine Yes it’s old but I recon it’s a beautiful machine it does the job at the right price ay I have meet so many people in my two yrs traveling to WA had a blast Filmed over 23 other UA-camrs and helped quite a few learners gave them coils and gold Great give as the smile on there faces is priceless I did surfing and pro surfing for 60 yrs and it’s the same thing to me You meet people you learn and you get respect from your fellow prospectors Cheers 🍻 great info mate CrouchOz
@@Part_Time_Prospector no problem mate enjoying your stuff Thank you 🙏 for doing it all I know how much time it takes doing UA-cam myself and editing lol Cheers 🍻 CrouchOz
I like watching your videos you say how it is when I go out it is to enjoy the history and enjoy the bush and think how hard it was for the old timers then thanks again.
Very true words, have the same two hobbies as you and have exact the same point of view. Thank you for the video. We will be also in 5 weeks in WA for prospecting, but main target is to enjoy the silence in the outback , having a nice time. Maybe we get a bonus nugget who knows, but if not, it doesn`t matter, recharging inner batteries in silence, seeing beautiful places and enjoying nauture as it is, is more important ;-)
Thanks mate. I agree its about the thrill of the chase as far as gold goes. Although it would be FANTASTIC to get some. On the UA-cam brigade, it is all becoming a bit similar across a lot of them showing them scraping, etc, and woo hooing for a piece. I reckon that's why I really prefer watching your videos, as you show the research, the tricks and tips, send maybe even a few places worth a shot. Keep it up matey.
If you want to know a few places..? Any location with a history of gold, learn as much as you can, geology, folk lore, written history, gain a comprehensive understanding of geological structures, erosion principles, there's so much to learn and see, and unlike the old timers, you won't need to push and pull a donky for weeks on end to get started. Never forget; the best Gold is always found where it's never been found before..! Enjoy the bush, the adventure, and all the history of days long behind us..! 💪❤👍
Myth #1: You gotta find gold. Nah, just have a good time mate. Myth #2: You don't need good gear. Wrong. Get good kit or you're not gonna find gold. If I can have a splendid time hunting without finding, I guess I can detect for gold with a magnet.
It why fishing not called catching, spot on, gold fevers real and can be all consuming, if you don't like camping and just being in the bush it's probably not for you , thanks cobber
It's like recreational fishing or hunting. You go with the hopes of getting something, but it's not necessary. Yes it's nice when you bring something home. But usually the times you have and the stories you gained mean much more ✌️
If you are detecting in Western Australia (I can't comment on other places), then you need something that handle the very high iron-concentrated soil. I've mostly used the GPX & SDC Minelab detectors over the years and they have lived up to expectations. Currently I'm running a GPX 5000 and its works well, but would like to upgrade to a GPX6000 when funds allow! Hope that helps!
In the last year and a half, I have never found Gold with my detector/s having said that, I always get Gold from the creek, dry or running. So I mix it up each trip and return with a result, Plus I meet like-minded people, It's all good!
Glad you finding the yellow stuff atleast some way! Maybe you are in a place where the gold is so small the detectors can't find it. Don't give up, maybe the next location you try will be more rewarding with the detector!
@@Part_Time_Prospector I go to Creswick near Ballarat, of course plenty of big gold has been found. Probably more a case of done to death. Using Gold Monster due to dicky elbows. It is what it is, but I'm having fun, good luck
If i come back with no gold people say , Wht do you go then ? I reply to get away from home to explore and to get away from barking dogs and parents yelling at there kids. And if i come back with gold eg my last trip i say the gold paid for the fuel who else goes away on holiday for free ? Lets not forget how nice it is with wild life and wild flowers the stars ever so bright and the chirping of birds. Im doing it full time in the next 2yrs Gold prospecting through the winter and beach living in summer its what i do most my time anyway. Finding gold is just a bonus for me.
Spot on! I did a quick 1-day dash out to test a possible new spot, but the area was littered with scrap metal left be the old time miners. There's only so many nails, screenwire, flakes of tin etc that one person can did in a day. So was the trip a failure? I don't believe so. There was plenty of evidence pon the ground that a fair chunk of gold had been puilled from this region (plus it doesn't shopw up on any old maps). The trouble was I wasn't the first one there and there was way to much rubbish about. Better luck next time!

Perfectly put Bruce, well said.
Thanks mate!
Thats true about having unrealistic expectations of being rich from prospecting 😊
Unfortunately, lots of false hope is spread by some gold prospecting retailers who claim you can pay back the price of the detectpor in 6 months.
Totally in agreement with your comments and advice. "I could have written the script!"
Glad it resonated with you!
I love the puzzle of it. How did this star dust get here in my hand!
Great info fam. Keep on having fun getting that au and living the dream. Gold Squad Out!!!

Very true! Just enjoying the bush for what it is. For me, it's the best mental health activity I can do!
Great to see the Chanel growing Bruce.👍
Have some features been removed from gold prospecting or have I stuffed up my settings?
Some have, as I am always tweaking it. Hopefully, it all returns soon! Sorry for the inconvenience!

What detectors do you recommend
I plan to do the odd trip out and like you I enjoy the event. Gold would be a bonus.

True
Hey mate quick question how much gold do you reckon you've found all up in your life time of detecting
If i come back with no gold people say , Wht do you go then ? I reply to get away from home to explore and to get away from barking dogs and parents yelling at there kids. You will be "Living the Dream"! Good on ya!
dont get your fishing trips mixed up with your gold trips ..or you wont have much gold
Do you mean it won't help me find gold if I change the bait from squid to prawns? 😀
@@Part_Time_Prospector I mean if you keep throwing them back!
@@Judge_Judy Haha, that explains why I bring nothing back home :)
Sounds like somebody didn't find any gold 🤣
