You have to understand, everyone is entitled to a defense. And when someone (allegedly) commits such an indefensible crime, defense challenges the actions of LE, challenges evidence, whatever they can do to defend that client. These motions are rarely granted and/or make little to no difference in the *guilt* of the suspect, but if it turned out that defense didn’t do everything in their power to defend their client the case could be overturned on appeal for ineffective assistance of counsel.
