In the past, I’ve had family members actually tell me that they’ll always be ok because they know I’m prepared. I’ve told them no, that’s their responsibility and they give me ‘the look’ I deny that I prep at all anymore. Ugh 😣

i give them reasonable goals to meet. i tell them if they want my help they will need to bring me 100lb of rice and 100lbs of beans per person.
my plan there is to tell them to look at how prepared they already are if/when they come to me.
in at least one case the family shifted from "you guys place is our shtf plan" to being prepared themselves. they now have chickens and even two pigs. in at least that case i am not their plan. one less family to deal with.
the other thing is, dont let people know that You ARE prepared. i used covid to tell people that used to know i was prapered to cover telling them i "ran through most of my supplies" and that "i sure am glad i had some ahead"

When I am accused of wearing a tin foiled hat, I like to say, "I'd rather wear a hat than a BLINDFOLD!!" Prepping is like insurance, you have it, but hope you don't need it. Unlike insurance tho, if you don't use it, all those premiums are $$ gone. If you don't NEED your preps, they're still useful! Thanx for all your shared tips & wisdom.❤️🙏

Yes. Insurance is a scam. I have never gotten a penny back all these years. My canned goods feed me. No scam. Tangible, useful, nutritious.

I was ridiculed because I`m poor, living in a camper, and invested the stimulus in off-grid solar for my freezer, fridge, and air conditioner and other prepping tools. Well guess who had air conditioning during FIVE extreme heat emergency power outages this past summer in Louisiana...and who DIDN`T? I grow food and always keep at least 100lbs of rice and about 40lbs of beans, especially lentils, and about 30lbs of corn grits. I have cans of whole powdered milk, butter, cream of wheat, lots of pasta, flour, and lard, plus cases of sardines and tuna. I have food growing all year indoors and out. I also have a large portable shortwave and AM radio collection so neighbors will have info in a national emergency if the internet fails. They needed them after the two hurricanes in 2020. Nothing else worked...even home phones. I also have off-grid fans for them power by solar. I watched those with gas generators run out of money for fuel in 2020. That`s why I went with solar AND a gas generator.

I haven`t needed the gas generator so far. My mower and garden tiller are electric and can be powered by my solar and I have low wattage AC and DC cookers and a lower wattage water distiller. There`s a creek in the woods here if I need water and it`s full of fish. I`ve been very nice to the wild bunnies so they`ll nest here and I`m getting chickens next spring. I rarely go to stores and order basic things and grow the fresh food I need. I also have a large 100 ft blackberry patch. Me, the birds, and animals tried but we couldn`t eat them all. I put a lot in my freezer. I pruned as many as possible and fertilized them for double production next season. I`ve started fig trees too and have more cuttings rooting now. Gotta grow extra for the birds because they help a lot with garden pests so I take care of them. @@LDSPrepper

The people calling you a nut are the same people that will either come beg you for food when they are unable to get some at the store, or they'll show up and rob you of your food at gunpoint. Far better that they don't know how many tons of grains you have stored.

I don't talk to many people. I don't show my preps around or have anyone over. So, I get no comments at home. The few times that a checkout person said something, before they had self-checkout - I'd tell them I hate shopping, so I stock up and don't have to shop often.

I started using a good friends response to "I'm just going to your house to survive". His response is "have you ever seen what someone who has been shot with a load of buckshot looks like?". It gets the point across. That being said, if I know you prepped and got overrun, we are going to work to get your stuff back

I've been called that by my friends before. Just to have them turn around and ask to buy some primers from me during the shortage. I politely reminded them how I was telling them to stock up for years when they were cheap. I said my primers are for when times are tuff. We ain't there yet!

I stop talking to people about prepping, because it’s a waste of energy. Then you have people say “ I will go to your house if something happened “ no your not! I’ve been work hard for years to get ready and take care of my family. No one will come and try to take advantage of my hard work.
May God for give me for saying this, but the reality is that you can’t help. Think about it for a second. Someone comes to you for food. If it’s for one person maybe. But the reality is they are asking for help to feed who’s ever they are with and 99% of the time they will not be alone. Let’s just say you do help out that one person and he goes on he’s way. Someone will see him and ask where he get that? You think that person won’t tell people where he got it? Now you will have more and more people knocking on your door.
See I look at it as this, God gave you this feeling, this urge to get ready and to tell others, now if the others don’t listen like Noah. Then that’s on them.
See people think they will just sit back and do nothing. Then when something happens they will just call you. Nope! Sorry. I guess this is the reason why I just keep to myself & my family. I don’t talk to neighbors or anyone. I like it like that.
I pray every day for God guidance and most of all to take this feeling that something bad is coming out of me. I ask if this feeling is not for you lord then remove it out of me. But lord if this is coming for you, then please show me the way. Help me lord spiritually, physically, mentally and financially to get ready.
This feeling is getting stronger every year.
    God Bless and keep self.

Only a few people in my inner circle have ever seen or known about what I have. When someone asks, I say: "It's my hobby. I'm not a prepper, I'm just a poor couponer. Some people collect trains or coins. I collect useful items on sale to help stretch my budget." Another great video. hanks for sharing.

God waited and warned people for 120 years before Noah started building the Ark! Noah built it in just over 7 years. The animals loaded themselves. God closed the door.
The most important thing to remember is _it wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark._

If someone I knew said those things to me, I suppose they'd be the same people who weren't helpful when I was homeless, don't visit when I'm bedridden or in hospital, or make sure I'm getting to Dr. appointments. They shouldn't be concerned with the quantity of dry goods I have, should they?

3 years and 10 months ago, the lockdown hit. I bought 2 PACKAGES of toilet paper. I then searched online for how people managed 'back in the day'. I recently started on the second ROLL. I did the same thing with other disposable hygiene products, soap, etc. It can be done if you just LEARN how. And it wasn't icky at all.

In all honesty, last week my Sam's Club cart looked like those at the 2:51 time. I did buy 4 large packages of toilet paper and then a couple 35-pound bags of pet kibble and a large case of 60 cans of wet food for the pets. It had been nearly 8 months since purchasing the tp and time got away from me. Now I am set for well into Summer of 2024. I do try to replace as I use items up but that is the only time I ever purchased 4 cases at a time. I did wonder if anyone there would say anything but no one did and neither did the cashier. I am thankful that I have enough food for almost a year but that took 3 years to accumulate. I began around Summer of 2020 and used $10/week to start. It is amazing how it can all add up.

Very apropo with your logo, just like Noah, l do what I need to do. But l don't do it in front of everyone, noone knows. I know that when the proverbial hits the fan, people turn into monsters, forget family ties or friendship, they would steal everything you have and leave you for dead. I warn, like a watchman, but then its not my responsibility anymore.
