Using a Boroux filter will void your Berkey warranty! Berkey Water Filters Going Out of Business?!: • Berkey Water Filters G... Authorized Berkey Dealer: LDSPrepperStor...
Berkey Filters is not going out of business, but their filters are not available and we don't really know how long it will be before they are available. I researched the Boroux (pronounced "BORO" as they note on the website). The information in your video is partially misleading. Boroux explains on their website what you bring up about the connection and history with them and Berkey.New Millenium Concepts. They are very transparent as to why they had to several ties with NMLC. If you read their extensive explanation, it's clear, honest, and explains the reason for the NECESSARY break from Berkey because Berkey would not comply with EPA regulations. I'm no fan of EPA's overreach, but unfortunately, the effect of the EPA's mandate led to the inability of the Boroux founders to sell Berkey filters, so they did the wise, entrepreneurial step of creating their own filters to fill the vacuum that was created. Problem solved. Also, the EPA will not let any company claim that it filters micro-organisms. That's the simple reason why Boroux is not making the claim. It doesn't mean that their filters do not filter micro-organims. No doubt they would rather not be shut down by the EPA.. You say, "Only use authentic Berkey products in authentic Berkey systems." That might make sense, but only if they are available. This is not a criticism of LDSPrepper; rather, it's a reality check concerning availability. Check out Boroux's excellent exlainatio of how they got where they are; it's on their website.
@@jakebryant4001 I was about to buy some Boroux filters because Berkey has been out of stock for months, and ours need to be replaced. But I don't like that the Boroux does not filter out micro organisms, that's pretty much the whole point of a filter, isn't it? So do you think that the ProOne that he mentions in this video is a better filter than Boroux or Berkey?
Of course Berkey isn’t recommending them. They’re the new competitor. After studying the issue carefully, reading court documents, and reading both Berkey and Boroux’s sites, I’m changing my mind about Berkey (New Mil. Concepts). They haven’t been up front about everything and the fact that they continue to mislead saddens me. Boroux seems to be trying to change that with their own business by being as transparent as possible. Berkey units are just a stainless shell. You can’t harm a stainless shell by using a different gravity element. So “voiding the warranty” is a hollow concern.
@@Anela_GreenThe lack of testing, number of gallons tested, the exaggerated claims and the real reasons they don’t get the proper certifications. The excuse that the testing is too costly is completely bogus. And now that they’re restricted from selling in the US, they are encouraging the narrative that the government is after them in a conspiratorial way. New Millennium claims that they “didn’t know” this was coming when they’ve been warned for years. I have no faith left in their product and no respect left for their company.
In my experience with Alexapure, Berkey, etc., the filter IS the product. Which filter you install can't possibly harm the stainless container although, obviously, the quality of the resulting water may change with each filter type. As a user, I'm after the best possible filter that fits my container, regardless of who first made the container. Berkey's best option to fight back is head-to-head independent scientific analysis of their filter performance vs. their competitors.
I was thinking the same thing, like a filter isn't going to damage anything that would cause container replacement. Using a non berkey filter only is affecting the quality of the water. As someone who worked in warranty claims in the auto industry, even if someone did make a claim along those lines, if you brought this to court (assuming either party could prove the product did or did not ruin the container) the judge would laugh the berkey warranty out of the court room.
So what filter are we supposed to purchase then when the certified Berkey filters are involved in a massive lawsuit and aren’t being produced? Does a Warranty really matter if we can never use it?
The use of non-Berkey filters will "void the warranty" , that is ridiculous. For real, what exactly would you be voiding on the Berkey water filtration system- the steel vessel? The spigots? What am I missing here? Would be better for Berkey to man up and refer their customers to a viable product in the meantime. I would respect the New Millennium company for doing that. Threatening customers with a void warranty bit is just stupid when there is are NO BERKEY REPLACEMENT FILTERS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE ANYWHERE! So in theory, a hunk of steel is just supposed to still on ones countertop for years till things get sorted out?
Black Berkey filters are available with purchasing Berkey water filter systems. Replacement filters will be available as soon as the judge gives his verdict in favor of Berkey vs the EPA.
Has anyone given these Boroux filters a try? After being on waiting lists for months with no communication as to when they will be available I need to find a good alternative. I've tried several ceramic type filters and don't like the taste and how slow they filter. I don't really care if my Berkey warranty is "voided" for trying their competitor.
Berkey can’t recommend a filter because they can’t even get their own filter to market. How can you trust a filter that can’t even be honest with their own customers. There won’t be a warranty to worry about when they go out of business. A big company like Berkey going after a small start up like this makes them look desperate and scared. I haven’t seen them make a statement like ProOne filters will void your warranty.
Seriously?! Berkey is no longer selling filters of course they aren’t recommending another brand but it’s really not cool for us that have a Berkey tank. I did the dye test and both filters failed the dye test so I have to buy some filters. Thank you for being so very helpful!
My original filters also failed the red dye test. When I went to NMCL to get replacements, they charged me a pro rated price, as well as shipping. I will no longer buy Berkey filters. I bought Pro One filters.
Wow. This video is filled with inaccuracies. You didn't even do enough research to pronounce Boroux properly (the x is silent). There was no breach of contract. The EPA forced them to stop selling Berkey filters. So in an effort to stay in business they created their own filter that is EPA compliant. This video is 8 months old, and guess what. I'm unable to buy Berkey filters from your website either. Guess that Berkey contract is working out great for you.
Correct, but at a big cost because, all of those filters will void your Berkey warranty. And you don't get the protect that an authentic Berkey filter gives you.

As you mentioned the one very important difference is that the original Berkey filters were effective in filtering viruses, and bacteria. The Boroux filters are not. That is the reason I bought Berkey filter system in the first place.

@LDSPrepper when will that happen? Maybe never. So it's time to move to these other filters. You sound bias as hell. The video should be untill u can get Barkley filters I've tested these and they will be good til that happens.
Theres a new company selling a GLASS gravity fed water system. They claim that their black elements are NSF 42 certified. If that is true, that makes them more appealing than Berkey’s non certified elements.
