Just put my 3rd service dog to sleep as he was 20 yr. Old and dying, in pain. I unsubscribed because I can't cope and will come back when I can . Love your content. Keep up the good work. Blessings on you and yours. Just can't see dogs right now....

So sorry for the loss of your service dog, they can never be replaced or forgotten, so please be comforted that you had that many years of dedication from him.
You may get another service dog in the future, but the time and memories and the service that he gave you for all of those years can never be replaced and should also never be forgotten.
Reflect on the positives he has given you and try not to think of the end, it is what we have to do to end their suffering with respect for them as a caregiver to them as he was to you!
      Happy thoughts always!

Our dogs hate going to the vet. Especially my Puggle dog. She is like “ get me out of here “. Our Cairn Terrier is okay with it I guess. We got Lucy( my Puggle) a toy that she could take with her to the vet to play with.

Omg our cats could be twins!!! I wish I could walk my cat or get her in the backpack. Absolutely no way!! My daughter takes her cat on walks and in the backpack when she walks her dog.

I dont know if you still read comments but i saw one of your old videos with Max. I have two service dogs and live in a somewhat unsafe area. Is there any advice you could give me on getting them to block?

    I’ve got two questions:
    1. Can any breed of dog become a service dog or breeds that are considered the best to train to be service dogs?
    2. Do service dogs have to go the vet more often than regular dogs since they have a job to help protect their owner?

1: YES! Any breed of dog can be a service dog, from a great dane to a yorkie,as long as the dog can preform the tasks they need to,as for the second part of the question,i all just depends on what you need,if u need mobility then you might want to go with something more like a German shepherd,or some other sturdy breed, for mobility i would not recommend something like a poodle, poodles are thin and slim, not a lot of mussle like you would need for mobility
I have a beagle miniature poodle sdit, one thing I can say is I'm too worried to get him to do blocking tasks way away from me because he's the size of the min poodle and I worry someone might step on him
2: not necessarily, its up to you as the handler if u wanna do that,i personally don't because it's extremely expensive and in my opinion unnecessary, i recommend getting all shots and going maybe yearly and when something is wrong obviously

I ran across a story from a woman acting as though she knows everything about service dogs. Her first false statement was that if a dog was being carried it wasn’t a service dog. I do t know anything about service dogs but a quick google search proved her wrong on so many levels. She goes on to explain that service dogs are held at higher expectations and should never vocalize. I was already getting a headache from her trying to see if what she was even claiming about service dogs was even true. And it wasn’t dogs are trained differently for different disabilities, and with that said a women like this is going to cause harm to the service dog community. I’m not on social media so would have a hard time reaching the people in the community that could make a difference. What we don’t need is bloggers knowing nothing about service dogs saying dangerous things about service dogs. Please feel free to contact me and I can most definitely give you this big info.

My dog does a good job ignoring people though and distractions my family started mocking me for my medical episode and panic attacks to see what the dog would do not realizing that’s not how it is my dog did not respond to them but I showed them how I trained him what happens and he responded they just don’t respect me or understand at all I guess.

My dog hates going to the vet I can’t get him to sit still at all in the waiting room it’s the one place it’s hard to get him to behave. He does a good job with the vet though snd I calm him down to he is better at getting shots then me. 😂Today I was trying to train my dog not yo eat treats off the floor and to stay focused it was my first time doing that with him but he did not get it at all he kept eating the treats I guess I got to keep trying with him even though it’s frustrating at times.

    • @ServiceDogPaws
      @ServiceDogPaws  Рік тому +1

Try using a small blanket at home. Put it on the floor. Train it as a place command. Bring it with you to the vet. Place. It’ll give him a spot he knows he should be.

Ok I will try that next time I bring him thanks for the advice. I am also worried he is not a good service dog because even though he is task trained for me my family looked up on the internet and said certain breeds of dogs can’t be service dogs. My dog is a 1 year old basset hound.
