Tuning for more will always add heat. More fuel equals more BTU. No amount if fuel can cool the block. Egt is the only decrease but doesnt effect engine coolant like described. Front grille, radiator, oil cooler, wrap the downpipe or get it ceramic coated. A hood vent is helpful also. You don’t have to remove ac. The fk2 doesn’t have such drastic overheating issues and runs the same radiator Intercoolers bigger turbos don’t create cooling. They cause more heat by burning more fuel. I’ve had extensive talks with road racers and been sent datalogs. Grill and radiator are biggest help.
I have The intake and MAF housing are dei heat wrapped as well. I am experimenting with a poron gasket to prevent heat soak into the MAF/iat2 sensor to stop false power reduction. Grill is huge help. I’ve seen racers with everything but the grille and it still overheats cause the most important part is overlooked. Air over the radiator
Good stuff man, I appreciate all the effort and research you put into these videos, makes it easier for us to decide on how we want to mod our type R's. Keep em coming.
biggest issue is get the hot air out from engine bay so i suggest diffferent more breathable front mask and swap hbonnet for similar to new type r to increase efficency of cooling and lowering the front air pressure
Hey man, just wanted to say this is an amazing video!!! youre VERY professional and educated!!! I have a 2020 Si and i still couldnt look away from the video. I have a question though, that exhaust wrap. does it really help with heat hitting the vital parts you were talking about?
@@FlyinGato ya bro pretty sure but that's in a parking lot I swear I seen a red miata that didn't have its hood last time I went I've only done thw roval track, 3 etr scca events, and 3 times gone to bristol dragstrip probably 15 runs. So I'm learning. Really looking forward to Virginia raceway this summer
Hey buddy quick question. I had the 2.0t accord. Switched the k tuner added a Tommie exhaust 19 inch rims and 9.5 wide tires. Can I use my prl intercooler and my plm downpipe from the accord. From what I've seen thw bolt pattern and sizes seem to match up
Intercooler doesn't actually reduce engine temps much, it helps with more power and cooling that extra turbocharged air. The air box, I wrapped in heat tape and dropped in the KN filter
They did. The car is not intended to be a full on race car, it was designed to be a sports car for the street, not one for the track. Adding these additional heating mods would have significantly increased the price

I tested my setup with the new grill and radiator at a 4 day time attack event, worked great!!

Great video! Going to definitely go with these upgrades. Hopefully getting rid of the cat will help alot!
This might be your best video. Great job Gato.

This is awesome content every Type R owner should watch. Thanks a lot.

Rick and Morty T-shirt, yes! Thanks once again for your video.
Thanks. Looks like I’m missing the acuity coolant pipes and need to wrap the intake manifold.
Thanks for the great info my dude.
Do you prioritize front pipe before cold air intake, intercooler, and oil cooler?
What says your emissions law to your recommendation to delete the catalytic converter ?
CSF Radiator.. don't waste your money on any other radiator.
All over CivicX forums.
Yeah definitely for tracking CSF is the move. There's a reason it's in hondas HPD civic type r TC
Thank you for the detailed information!
What about an Inter cooler update?
Have you tried removing the weather stripping from the back of the hood?
I never tried that
Can u just gut the cat? or better off replace it w/ aftermarket pipe?
Have you consider killer chiller?
Is there any reason other than possible damage to the hood. Not to take the hood off at the track
You're required to run a hood at the track
@@FlyinGato at etrscca I see mistas take there's off.
Really? I may have to ask about that

Two squirrels at 5:14 lol
Will you be changing the Throttle body to a bigger one.
Thanks for the videos. By any chance you know the weight of the oem radiator vs the Koyo rad?
Koyo actually weighs less, not sure by how much though

how did the crash happen?
Why not just get cerakote?
I'm sorry, but ur telling me honda did not know about the heating?

Trapping heat in the pipes also reduces power...
I swear I keep seeing you make the same video.... Beating a dead horse with a different bat
Thank you for your videos bro. I see you from Spain, I'd like to ask you to speak slower, please.
Strange, when I hit like, it disappears after a few seconds
anyone feeling kinda of too hot?
U should not be running 20 minutes at a time lol
After watching this video I realized I really don't want a Type R.
