Great video. Love the whole Max Payne trilogy, but dear God do I hate the enemies who throw unavoidable grenades from around a corner. I am not an impulsive quick saver. Those grenades whittled away my sanity.
I've just remembered as I was watching this video, how I would come to the video games club as a 10 years old boy to play Max Payne. But since I didn't have a PC or a gaming console at home I didn't know you could save your progress in a video game, so I was watching the opening sequence, remembering every detail of it and playing the Roscoe Street level over and over again. I recon I was really happy when I first completed it and went out to the streets of New York. Later my father came to this video game club and asked the administrator to teach me how to save and load progress, so I could finally experience the whole game. Still love it.
Although I have never played this game, I really enjoyed the video and good job on the storytelling! Keep up the good work. I think Remedy was quite ahead of its time with these well working and unique game mechanics and with their attention to detail. It's indeed a shame that this passion for game development is much less visible in videogames nowadays.
I'm happy for helping you on this video with the trailer footage. I hate to see channel like these get unnoticed by the UA-cam algorithm. This video is amazing for me since I'm a huge Max Payne fan. I left a subscription on the channel! Wish you the best, GameTalesHQ !
I replayed it recently as well and it's still a lot of fun. I miss straight to the point games like this. Even though Alan Wake 2 is amazing, it could have easily been shorter without losing anything.
I've only played the three Max Payne games, I think I might try the first Alan Wake soon! But I agree, I really like games that don't overstay their welcome. Makes them very replayable too!
The game plays also very well on Xbox Series consoles since it's backwards compatible and you also get higher resolution and 60 fps with the only downside being the auto aim is kinda crap but definitely the best way to enjoy it on consoles if you don't have a pc imo
I was like 10 years old when I first played Max Payne 2 on PC. 10 years later I'm playing it again on a 10 years old computer. Top 10 game for me. Cheers from Argentina.
I played this game very late as well and fell in love with the series afterwards. That was 2021. I watch every retrospective I find in youtube and this didn't disappoint either.
Used to play this at a friend's house. His older brother had a beefy enough PC to run it. I was only 12 years old haha :D Always had great memories about this game!
@@GameTalesHQ as a kid who was 9-10 years old at the time and who only got time to play this game at late evenings or nights I would get scared AF coz of the background score and all the aesthetic of the game though LMAO XD, probably why I never finished it back then. Though definitely looking forward to picking it up again, its one of my all time favourite games still!
@@GameTalesHQ true! Also, you've earned a sub. The quality of your videos is excellent, and you deserve a lot more subs and views than you're getting now! Your content is great!
eric, this is a standout videos . hits me hard with the drug called nostalgia . well done . how many hrs did it take you to collect , edit , script , narrate . any up coming video to look fwd to in pipeline . p
Thanks for the kind words! For this particular video it's probably around 50 hours as I'm not super efficient yet. I just uploaded a video yesterday on Bloodborne! I'm thinking of covering the Brothers in Arms series next.
@@GameTalesHQ wow awesome ! ihave seen it, it is well written & amazing . if i can suggest in the future commandos( which i had as a demo cd on pc magazine year 2000) & stronghold .
@@maomekat2369 Thanks! I adore Commandos 1 & 2 as well as Stronghold 1 & Crusader. I will definitely delve more into classic PC games on the channel. Especially since a lot of my new subscribers seem to love those.
Mad Max 3 would be better IF they wouldn't take controls from you so many times with stupid mini cutscenes. You have to be so careful where and how you trigger cutscene.
It sadly didn't do well with the algorithm, I really like how this one turned out though. Glad you enjoyed :) Oh and thanks for checking out my channel!
@@GameTalesHQ Don't be discouraged and continue to make great content such as this! I follow a female comedy sketch youtuber that only blew up during covid and she said, before then, NOBODY was watching her sketches. She made tens if not hundreds of cool and well acted videos but like you said, nobody got recommended them and nobody watched them. She continued to put out great content and then all of a sudden, her COVID related video's blew up and everyone just started binging her previous content. That's why you shouldn't be discouraged. Now she has millions of subs and views. I noticed your channel also because of your most recent video which was recommended to me. Then I started watching your other content too. If you have a library of great content tucked away behind the algorithm, soon people will discover your channel too, especially because I find them very well made, edited, nice pacing, great sound, etc. and then have LOADS of videos to binge!
Great video. Love the whole Max Payne trilogy, but dear God do I hate the enemies who throw unavoidable grenades from around a corner. I am not an impulsive quick saver. Those grenades whittled away my sanity.
Thanks! Yeah, those grenades are suuper cheap.
Some games really get brutal and will punish you without quicksaving. I can appreciate such games but I'm careful not to take them too personally. Lol
Now I am almost done with video and I see this game doesn't do it. It adds more weight to the idea of each room being a puzzle that takes practice.

Thanks again for the footage! The algorithm is an enigma sometimes but I'll keep on going :) Thanks for watching and the sub!
Oh this is nice. I just added this to my list of videos that I watch while I'm working.
Well done! One of my favorite games ever. Slow motion was aweosme back then, specially when Matrix was very popular.

Great retrospective

I love the fact these Finnish guys had to hire 2 bodyguard to to go NY to get some references haha.
Well, they didn't just visit New York. They'd go to some shady places. Pretty smart on their part I think!
Awesome video of an amazing game!

Amazing video for amazing game!
Would love to see video for Max Payne 2 too!
Or if you want another classic: Mafia! Not the new remake, the original!
Thank you. I absolutely love both games! Definitely games I will look into in the future!
Haven't played this yet but I can tell Max is a hard man
He sure is, highly recommend you give it a shot! :)
I just subbed today after watching your Gothic retrospective both of these videos are so well done. Keep up the great work you deserve many more subs!
Thank you, glad to have you on-board!
So much time must have been put into the making of this video. Really well done! Good way of honoring a true classic
Thank you! 🫶🏼
One of my favourite games as a kid lol. Played it in 2009 for the first time and then played the 2nd part too. Never quite finished either tbh though.
Both games are worth seeing trough 'till the end! Max Payne 2 is especially short, you can finish that game in an evening :)
