Didn't he play the all-star game and then miss weeks worth of sixers games immediately after it? Missed 43 games last year, was hurt for playoffs, then goes to the Olympics? Now already missing the beginning of the season? Don't give me the 'love of country' argument because dude got his citizenship from France in July 2022, so he could play for them if he didn't get US citizenship in time. He wanted to play in the Olympics and sure he would rather for America but only because you are nearly guaranteed a gold medal. if that didn't happen he would have played for France to give it his best shot. Has nothing to do with the love of any country it was for himself. Truth is this dude treats sixers as his side hustle, all-star games and Olympics and twitter are his main focus and his full time job. Sixers season ticket holders should ask for their money back for any game he doesn't play at home. Hurt or not. They extended him through 2029 now, nobody reasonable thinks he has any chance of playing basketball in five years, he cannot even play in October right now after playing a tournament in August. In 2029 he is slated to make 69 million that season. Not a shot he plays a single game. I am certain he will be fine to suit up for the All-star game this February though. lol
What is really confusing here is that today's NBA is less physical yet players are more injured than to the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. With how the game evolved, more spacing and less physical, yet more players experience injury. Weird!
Sooo… back in the day the guys just played and didn’t over play/train etc. They played 82 games a season most seasons. Now they’re rehabbing teenage injuries.
Pop's method worked because he was doing it the right way. In the 2013-2014 season when they won it all, Tony Parker led the team in minutes played - 29.4. Nobody played more than 30 minutes a game. THAT is how you rest your players and load manage. But players like Kawhi or Embiid like pretty numbers. They'll happily average 40 minutes a game for two weeks, get good averages, get injured, and rest for two months. What's better than not needing to work at all and still collecting millions of dollars of salary? Adam Silver needs to tell LeCunt to shut the fuck up and call the shots for once. Hit players like these where it hurts the most. Remove guaranteed contracts. Add clauses whereby a drastic percentage of their salary will be null and void if they refuse to play/get injured too many times. Imagine being a fan, paying for the tickets with your hard earned money, and showing up at a game, only to realize the player you came to see decided to give you the finger and take the day off.
Am I missing something? I thought the minimum games played rule only applied to the end of the season awards, not the All-Star game but 2 different times this video mentioned how Embiid and Kawhi would not have qualified if the rules were implemented years earlier.
problem with load management, is that the floor is unbeatable. you rest for 30 games, and you slip your ankle due to a wet part of the court, before even getting subbed in. hypothetically speaking, it makes sense, but it's not. it's more of, when are you gonna get by the grim reaper to be honest.
As a Celtics fan, I’ve been one of Embiids harshest critics. A lot of people don’t take me seriously when it comes to him because of the bias, and I won’t deny there is some. But I’ve been speaking nothing about facts about him for years.
Damn must be nice to be Leonard, missing work almost half the time and never getting fired. Joel and him would never had made it in the 90s nba. Or leflop
He hid his own failure behind the mental illness of another man and has pushed virtually every teammate under the bus at one moment or other, it doesn't matter how much points he stuff against the Pistons, the wizads or the Raptors. Hating him because of his injuries is crazy, people should be hating him because of his moral failings.
I read an article once that said all the new strength and conditioning regimes that have become fads are actually hurting players' durability. I think it said that the proper conditioning for a basketball player is just lifting weights and running. There's also the AAU argument, that young players in the pipeline play so many games as children that when they make it to the NBA, they have the bodies of guys who have played 5-6 years. You maybe wouldn't think that's what going on with Embiid, growing up in Cameroon. But he has a big body. He's heavy and running puts a lot of strain on his knees and ankles. You could maybe think there might be something in his upbringing, nutritional or cultural or something. But his attitude just doesn't help him at all.
Embiid has never had a work ethic. He got by because of sheer size and athleticism. If he had any heart he could have been the next Wilt Chamberlain but Embiid is just another soft ass player that will make half a billion dollars without accomplishing anything noteworthy
The incentive structure of the NBA, like other professional sports, is all about success in the playoffs. Very little of rhe regular season matters outside of qualifying for the playoffs. Tennis and golf have faced this issue for decades - many prominent players choose to only play in major tournaments, with higher prestige and payouts. Why get your players injured in the regular season only for them to miss time when it really counts? "Load management" is a cover, a "marketing term", for this reality. Major League baseball counters this to a far greater extent than the NBA. The top 2 teams in each league get first round playoff byes, and avoid having to play a short series. The NBA could at least increase the reward for finishing the regular season at the top or near top of the conference.
I don’t think Embiid is soft. He plays hurt a lot, and you don’t do that if you’re soft. However, I think he isn’t the most professional, and possibly lazy, about looking after himself. Does he do enough off the court to make sure he’s in the best possible condition? Does he eat the right foods, is he diligent in his rehab to look after his body and ensure he is absolutely fit for the start of the season and not banged up by the playoffs? He’s now 30, he’s not going to become less injury prone from here. They will need to load manage him, but at the same time he needs to look after himself better.
Embiid reminds me of KSI/Logan Paul type of person, very good at what he does but will walk over dead bodies to get what he wants, and when he doesn’t he’ll literally cry and blame everyone else for his failure
Everybody is virtue signaling when Embiid is doing the right thing for himself Embiid has never flat out begged to not be healthy, if he’s healthy he makes an attempt to play, he tries hard in the regular season, (deserved or not) he gunned for the mvp and the scoring championship. He played exactly how you guys wanted to play, on trying to go out when he can suit up with very minor exceptions, and then what happens? He’s banged up in the playoffs and all that hard work, all that grinding through mud is thrown to the waste side, with the fans laying into him, as if he didn’t spend over 5-6 months playing for his city. Back in the day Embiid would have be been beloved because while rings were important it wasn’t the end all to be all. You still gave love to Yao, to Michael Redd, to post Magic TMac even if they didn’t go as far because do their body’s limitations. But because we are at a day and age where you aren’t evaluated until the second round of the playoffs, no contest, all you’ve done is soured the product. Why would Embiid tries his hardest in the regular season, when not only does it bang him up for the postseason, but you then give love to Kawhi, Jimmy Butler, guys who take their foot off the gas for the regular? It just a bunch of people not knowing that these players motives and move are a reflection on what the fan is berating and praising. And until you stop pretending the all star game is just a popularity contest, until you stop believing that International play is a waste of time (until we lose), and until you stop minimizing historic regular seasons with the “but he didn’t win a championship” you will get players like Embiid who really could care less about your opinion on the game given that you disregard 82 games which is going to be well above 75% of the game that is played for the year.
That's cap and you're the president of cap a lot records. Embiid has never had heart or work ethic for the game. He flops all the time, complains to refs, doesn't even know how to fall and cries to the media all the time. Embiid is just a whining baby
@@Christo_Trismegistus he as more heart to come to these playoffs and others nursing injury while you would bow out if you had a Charlie horse. Side note: I really enjoyed the personal quiz! I answered the questions honestly and was surprised to see I got All-Star level. I’ll tighten up some things to push to that MVP level
tbf isn't the nba one of the few sports where the players play so many games in a short duration of time? 82 games is insane and with the pace of the modern game this was to be expected. Greg Oden, Brandon Roy, Danny Granger are players in the modern era who have had their careers drastically shortened due to injury. just remove back to backs. its just stupid. either extend the season which is impossible or reduce the amount of games. but that won't happen because NBA as an org the money they are making and fans who really don't care about the players
Well Embid got his MVP's and money but history and time will not view him well. It highlights how the blind was leading the blind when Simmons was still starting for Philly. We assumed to feel sorry for Embid but he in some ways is just as addle minded as Simmons.
The NBA is for the viewer not the player. No viewers. No players. Even Draymond green knows this. Cut the dead weight and make room for new fresh talent. These sports agents have wayyy too much pull and don’t want to lose their cash cow.
The fact that your already making more money then most people do in they lives already effects the perception about you to begin with so coming out saying your gona miss games was better if you didn't say it. He gets hurt every single year so try something new for a change. I just don't think he should've said anything at all.
But the biggest theft in the NBA is not who yall think. It’s not Ben Simmons, Kawhi, Embiid or whoever else you thinking about. Tobias Harris is the biggest thief. The other guys got injury excuses. This dude when you really need him to show up in the playoffs, he pulls a Jimmy Hoffa act.
Kawhi's superstar career got fcked by Zaza Pachulia. Bro is on his way to become a top 10 player all time. That degenerative knee that he has will always hinder his NBA career. Embiid has been injury prone since before even getting drafted. Why you guys act surprised when he said that? He literally missed two full years before he even played his first NBA game 😂
"he destroyed Nikola Jokic" ehm, i dont think so and thats maybe your opinion on only few games the played against each others, most of the time at the beginning of season. stop being delusional cause you only see the numbers - and if you watch his number then count also how many games he played to get his lil season MVP he cried every season before he finally received it. Embiid is the biggest loser and bum in NBA History and the only MVP who never reached the finals or anywhere near that.
Every year Embiid plays professional ball, he just exposes himself more and more. He pads stats but doesn't really contribute anything of substance to the 76ers. He was an embarrassment on team USA. He's basically Deandre Ayton if Ayton decided to put forward 20% more effort; they're both whiney frauds that only lean on their god-given physical builds, but history will look back on them with embarrassment or forget them altogether.
That’s why I’ve never considered him great. Embiid, Harden…they suck in the playoffs because they can’t flop and draw weak fouls like they can during the regular season. So they suck in the postseason. The guy is soft. Stop comparing him to Shaq, Kareem, Wilt, etc.
Listen he is injury prone …dude has more heart playing with on leg and one eye against the Knick’s and the refs cheating for the other team that series

Looks like an Am Hoops thumbnail
the fact that stephen a smith compare embiid situation to coach pop strategic mindset is diabolic. All he does is yap
problem with load management, is that the floor is unbeatable. you rest for 30 games, and you slip your ankle due to a wet part of the court, before even getting subbed in. hypothetically speaking, it makes sense, but it's not. it's more of, when are you gonna get by the grim reaper to be honest.
That dude changed citizenship to be sure to win an Olympic medal... what more do you need to know about him? :D
As a Celtics fan, I’ve been one of Embiids harshest critics. A lot of people don’t take me seriously when it comes to him because of the bias, and I won’t deny there is some. But I’ve been speaking nothing about facts about him for years.
After receiving 3 year extension deal and saying 0:48
Announcing that Kawhi is out is not dropping a bomb. It's more like dropping a cotton ball.
My favorite Embiid highlight was him crying after losing to Toronto 😄
I guarantee if he just stopped flopping and throwing himself onto the floor every game. He would be a lot more healthy come playoff time.
Contracts should be paid out in proportion to games played.
The fact that he still thinks he can beat Boston, when he never won a playoff series against them just baffles me 😂
I don’t think Embiid is soft.
If someone is right, why does that makes him hater?
I bought tickets for my birthday too 😢
“Embiid always destroys jokic” but don’t forget, he refuses to go to Denver and play it back lol
Embiid reminds me of KSI/Logan Paul type of person, very good at what he does but will walk over dead bodies to get what he wants, and when he doesn’t he’ll literally cry and blame everyone else for his failure
The dude joined Team USA to boost his resume. He wont win a chip because he mostly takes the easy way out.
7:01 damn man 😂😂
It's ok, Sixers fans. Just trust the process 🤣🤣🤣
I’m a fan of Joel Embiid because I’m stupid and no one fw me
It's the Ben Simmons effect
Him winning the mvp was embarrassing
The Sixers is paying this guy millions of dollars, DAMN!!! What a waste! Then he wants to be in the GOAT conversation. DAMN!!!
Everybody is virtue signaling when Embiid is doing the right thing for himself
Embiid has never flat out begged to not be healthy, if he’s healthy he makes an attempt to play, he tries hard in the regular season, (deserved or not) he gunned for the mvp and the scoring championship.
I can’t question the guys love when he willingly drags himself to the court when other stars would sit down. Y’all care more about narratives than actual ball
Side note: I really enjoyed the personal quiz! I answered the questions honestly and was surprised to see I got All-Star level. I’ll tighten up some things to push to that MVP level
He’s got zero self awareness or situation awareness. He just simply doesn’t care.
Load management makes player softer. They need to train their body to get stronger just ike other sports like boxing, mma, muaithai etc.
😂😂😂 "I am a weakling"
tbf isn't the nba one of the few sports where the players play so many games in a short duration of time? 82 games is insane and with the pace of the modern game this was to be expected. Greg Oden, Brandon Roy, Danny Granger are players in the modern era who have had their careers drastically shortened due to injury. just remove back to backs. its just stupid. either extend the season which is impossible or reduce the amount of games. but that won't happen because NBA as an org the money they are making and fans who really don't care about the players
Gil's Arena? More like Girls Arena.
Or LeBron's arena cause all Gilbert does is revise history and shit on older players and gobble LeBron all day everyday
The opposite of mamba mentality
Contract should be terminated due to fundamental dishonesty.
It's all about the playoffs.
You also forgot lazy! 🤣
These sports agents have wayyy too much pull and don’t want to lose their cash cow.
why does your link ask for full name and email? very suspect
Just waiting for Steph Curry to retire so I can stop watching the NBA. too many prima donas and most of them are overpaid.
Steph the only respectable superstar in the league
He doesn’t play like a typical 7 footer, maybe that’s why he can’t stay healthy
the sixers don't have a chance in hell..... I feel sorry for Maxey😔
Feeling sorry for a guy on a 200 million dollar contract. Serious?
@@markula_4040 I see your focused on the money that's what's wrong with sports now... I'm focused on winning🤨
He didnt play season opener. Not ready? Soft
Kawhi is 33.
Love KG☘️
Kawhi's superstar career got fcked by Zaza Pachulia. Bro is on his way to become a top 10 player all time. That degenerative knee that he has will always hinder his NBA career. Embiid has been injury prone since before even getting drafted. Why you guys act surprised when he said that? He literally missed two full years before he even played his first NBA game 😂
Kawhi had a chance after the Zaza incident but Kawhi let the injury go to his head and refused to play games he was healthy enough to play
Embiid is the biggest loser and bum in NBA History and the only MVP who never reached the finals or anywhere near that.
www.landofbasketball.com/games_between/joel_embiid_vs_nikola_jokic.htm
Every year Embiid plays professional ball, he just exposes himself more and more. He pads stats but doesn't really contribute anything of substance to the 76ers. He was an embarrassment on team USA. He's basically Deandre Ayton if Ayton decided to put forward 20% more effort; they're both whiney frauds that only lean on their god-given physical builds, but history will look back on them with embarrassment or forget them altogether.
this video made me miss max, and now lowe.
I can’t believe his bum ass played for us in the Olympics
Someone needs to give Joel Embid LeBron James' regimen! 😢
That’s why I’ve never considered him great. Embiid, Harden…they suck in the playoffs because they can’t flop and draw weak fouls like they can during the regular season. So they suck in the postseason. The guy is soft. Stop comparing him to Shaq, Kareem, Wilt, etc.
charles barkley has eaten churros tougher than joel embrittle...
Things he has done... The guy is a classical dilindara.
Joel Embid too soft always has been. 😂😂😂
The new Lebron 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you
won't play BACK to BACK. too soft too damn soft. Stop this DIVA behavior its embarassing.
Bro tryna make hating cool yall lame 😂😂😂😂
Listen he is injury prone …dude has more heart playing with on leg and one eye against the Knick’s and the refs cheating for the other team that series
