The NBA is run by Woke Leftist that are Soft. When Laundry Jones took over the Hawks he said he wanted to focus on "Player Empowerment" & that mentality lead to firing Hawks Coach Nate McMillan who took them to the Eastern Finals & had the best winning % for the Hawks since Larry Drew. Nate McMillan even said it's hard to coach these last few generations for obvious reasons. Again the real problem is these Players act like they are Entitled & if they don't get there way they act like Victims. They also put themselves ahead of the game & don't have any drive to compete & win. They just want to be famous & get paid & they are extremely soft. You talk about Load Management well just look at who started that crap, the Super Woke Leftist Gregg Popovich who uses the NBA Platform to push Political Agendas. The NBA used to be about Sports & a Uniting realm but Leftist in the NBA ruined it like they've done with Gaming, Hollywood, Media, Music Industry, just about everything been used by SJWs to push agendas.

Nba salaries shouldnt be on a yearly basis but on games played.
That way if they miss a game, thats a chunk of money deducted from their salaries.
Players will then actually TRY to STRENGTHEN their bodies to avoid injuries. Not just show up to practice and go home, but actually hit the gym and do strengthening exercises.
Their mindsets are now "oh shoot did i get injured? Meh I'll still get paid anyway" coz superstars know that they wont get traded

It's an interesting idea, but I'm sure the CBA probably has a clause requiring contracts to be based on the full season. Maybe not, since I think they still have 10-day contracts.
If there's some wiggle room there, though, some ballsy GM might just go up to a player with a number in his head, divide it by 82, and say, I'll pay you this much per game. We'll cut you a check for that amount after every game you play. But you don't play, no check.
That would be very spicy indeed.

Nice idea but I’d tweak a few things
      A) For injuries that keep them out 10+ days they get 50% of every game missed, 60% if the timeline is over a month. If they’re out for the season they still get 100%.
      B) Certain personal issues still get paid 75%, which would be outlined in the CBA. If a player has a legitimate reason, ex. the birth of a child, they shouldn’t be harshly penalized for it _provided this reason get verified beforehand_

Embiid wasn't hurt when he scored 50 points. That's his story for naive people like you. He plays well against Jokić because he wants to prove himself as a player. Unlike him, Jokic has nothing to prove to anyone. His results say it all. Embiid plays the worst road games in Denver and that's why he avoids those games for years. Jokic alone dominated the American national team at the Olympic Games, and Embiid showed that he cannot play a serious role in a good team.

Jokic just dominates anybody that’s smaller than him, the second he gotta face Embiid or even Wemby he struggles. I spent 20+ years in the Army. I'm not an athlete by any means, but a large number of the people that I served with, especially in the Airborne units, were. People running 6 minute miles with 35 pounds on their back wearing boots wasn't uncommon. There was no such thing as "load management". You perform when it counts, period. If you need to "rest", that's what weekends are for. And guys do that for their whole 20 years, with a smile.
Look at the Ranger Regiment: around 1500 infantrymen across three battalions who take on some of the toughest direct-action missions the Army has. Almost all of them ARE elite athletes, hitting weights, cardio, swimming, carrying loads, whatever. If you take a day off in a leadership role, you WILL be replaced. If you are a machine gunner (a prestigious job, despite the 20 extra pounds of weapon and ammo) and you hand it off, you will NEVER get it back. "Load management" would rightly be viewed as giving up on your teammates and letting them carry you.
Are there times when you get injured? Of course. But there are techniques to build up your musculoskeletal system that can reduce those chances. These players need to have some kind of year-round conditioning program,, that would probably bring almost immediate benefits.

Do you remember when everyone knew Blake Griffin wouldn't fly like that forever? You could tell. It's not healthy to throw your body around and into contact like that. At least Blake knew how to land...i think a lot of Scouts really dropped the ball and saw the potential over the darker truth which is that Joel Embiid has lacked a lot of professionalism and discipline from day 1. His body was NEVER ready and that's not just bad luck. As a pro athlete, your #1 job is to maintain your physical health (your workforce) and there are techniques to do that. Yet he doesn't know how to eat, fall, land or take contact. That's why he's always injured!! Don't believe me? Go watch some content on "how to avoid injuries in basketball" and come back to apologize ;)
He could be their "don't" model while prime LeBron or prime Shaq would be fantastic examples for "do". They never landed out of control, out of balance or tried to stick a landing they couldn't. They didn't turn on a standing foot or intentionally land on someone else. Okay, hustle plays don't count, my point remains😅

Pop's method worked because he was doing it the right way. In the 2013-2014 season when they won it all, Tony Parker led the team in minutes played - 29.4. Nobody played more than 30 minutes a game. THAT is how you rest your players and load manage.
But players like Kawhi or Embiid like pretty numbers. They'll happily average 40 minutes a game for two weeks, get good averages, get injured, and rest for two months. What's better than not needing to work at all and still collecting millions of dollars of salary?
Adam Silver needs to tell LeCunt to shut the fuck up and call the shots for once. Hit players like these where it hurts the most. Remove guaranteed contracts. Add clauses whereby a drastic percentage of their salary will be null and void if they refuse to play/get injured too many times. Imagine being a fan, paying for the tickets with your hard earned money, and showing up at a game, only to realize the player you came to see decided to give you the finger and take the day off.

  • @Batstrike4
    @Batstrike4 27 днів тому +4

What people also fail to mention is that in those "load managed" years, Tim Duncan still mostly played more than 65 games. In 2014, when they won the chip, he only missed 8 games. At 37. Kawhi at 31 only played 52 games. Tony Parker in 2014 at the same age played 68. Manu also. So yes, while Pop was sitting out his starters they were still playing close to if not more than 80% of the games.

Only eight teams in the playoffs would see a lot of this load management stop and make the regular season more important generally. Have the teams finishing 7-14 in each conference playing best-of-seven 'qualifiers', with the losers going into an exclusion bracket for the next season along with the team that finishes 15. Any team in the exclusion bracket can't enter the playoffs, their season will be all about getting the best seeding in the qualifiers.

His body isn't made for this and he has never seemed to put extra effort into conditioning but i won't let him off the hook with that. Didn't he play the all-star game and then miss weeks worth of sixers games immediately after it? Missed 43 games last year, was hurt for playoffs, then goes to the Olympics? Now already missing the beginning of the season? Don't give me the 'love of country' argument because dude got his citizenship from France in July 2022, so he could play for them if he didn't get US citizenship in time. He wanted to play in the Olympics and sure he would rather for America but only because you are nearly guaranteed a gold medal. if that didn't happen he would have played for France to give it his best shot. Has nothing to do with the love of any country it was for himself.
Truth is this dude treats sixers as his side hustle, all-star games and Olympics and twitter are his main focus and his full time job. Sixers season ticket holders should ask for their money back for any game he doesn't play at home. Hurt or not. They extended him through 2029 now, nobody reasonable thinks he has any chance of playing basketball in five years, he cannot even play in October right now after playing a tournament in August. In 2029 he is slated to make 69 million that season. Not a shot he plays a single game. I am certain he will be fine to suit up for the All-star game this February though. lol

Well I think this argument is absolutely flawed from the beggining. I get what you were trying to say in the end, but I don't agree with the approach. For starters, Embiid admiting he'll most likely never play another back to back isn't a "losers" mentality, but actuality the harsh reality he's been dealt with. I see it as being honest and realistic, instead of being either a liar or a delusional fool. To me this came as no surprise at all, since I already knew he would never be able to play another back to back from the moment his surgery last year was announced. The meniscus it's a very complicated subject and people like Embiid and Kawhi who had more then one surgery there, will forever be faced with a degenaritive condition that will limit their abilities. This is "basic" medical science and anyone with a bit of knowledge about that type of injury and especially about the procedure they chose to do last season (which was a short term band-aid for the playoffs and seen by many medical staff as a bad one when considered the long-term knee health), will most likely tell you that there's no way in hell that his knee will ever be able to whitstand the NBA's workload with back to back's. Thinking otherwise is simply being either uninformed or unrealistic. Sorry Henry, I do really appreciate your videos, but this one deserved a lot more research and a lot less of Stephen A Smith and Kendrick Perkins blabbing on their ignorance.

Problem is load management is not only not effective, it actually increases injury. Several doctors have written about this. The human body is not meant to have that much weight put on the joints. Therefore, you have to ensure your body is used to the impact playing basketball will have on your knees. When you rest, don’t practice and then go all out and play hard, then rest and then go all out again, your body doesn’t have the proper conditioning to stay level. The massive ups and downs create more strain on a players body. Look at the previous generations in the nba. You never had star players getting injured with this regularity. Not even close. They practiced hard, played hard and therefore the body got conditioned for the season. I don’t understand how they haven’t figured out that the entire concept is literally doing the opposite of what is intended

The incentive structure of the NBA, like other professional sports, is all about success in the playoffs. Very little of rhe regular season matters outside of qualifying for the playoffs. Tennis and golf have faced this issue for decades - many prominent players choose to only play in major tournaments, with higher prestige and payouts. Why get your players injured in the regular season only for them to miss time when it really counts? "Load management" is a cover, a "marketing term", for this reality.
Major League baseball counters this to a far greater extent than the NBA. The top 2 teams in each league get first round playoff byes, and avoid having to play a short series. The NBA could at least increase the reward for finishing the regular season at the top or near top of the conference.

I read an article once that said all the new strength and conditioning regimes that have become fads are actually hurting players' durability. I think it said that the proper conditioning for a basketball player is just lifting weights and running.
There's also the AAU argument, that young players in the pipeline play so many games as children that when they make it to the NBA, they have the bodies of guys who have played 5-6 years.
You maybe wouldn't think that's what going on with Embiid, growing up in Cameroon. But he has a big body. He's heavy and running puts a lot of strain on his knees and ankles. You could maybe think there might be something in his upbringing, nutritional or cultural or something. But his attitude just doesn't help him at all.
