- This Terraria weapon has a hidden ability... The Brand of the Inferno. The Old Ones Army Invasion has always had a bunch of strange unique weapons for you to go out an obtain throughout your playthrough. Today we're looking at a very bizarre one called The Brand of the Inferno. Which while on paper is just a generic true melee weapon, actually has a build in 'parrying' functionality that works similar to the sergeant united shield. Before switch had 1.4 I beat the game with regen armor and the aerial bane
Pretty sure that was my last playthrough untill 1.4
They are fairly easy to obtain

the old one's army weapons are honestly all quite cool
They're so ridiculously overpowered too. Betsy's wrath I recall scrapes away 30 DEFENSE FROM THE TARGET.

The thing with the OOA is that it's required to be completely focused on the entire playthrough. If you don't have the sentry of the tier you're at, it becomes much more difficult and sometimes outright impossible depending on the difficulty. But, it's seriously worth it for getting that sweet, sweet Betsy gear.
You can also use the shield as a kind of bash attack if you use a non-shield of Cathulu dash in mid-air to turn the defensive guard into an offensive charge.
I still remember a video posted by a terraria veteran
He and a bunch of his friends were doin master mode, for the worthy, fighting Plantera. All odds seemed stacked against them, but one player, the chad tank of the gamemose where everything can one-shot you, took it head on with this weapon. He was able to survive standing still and being inside of Plantera all thorough the first phase and even tanking a lot in the second as he dodged around, reducing casualties and ensuring swift victory

I wish basic true melee swords all had the parry feature. I just think its a neat way to make the more boring swords better.

For old ones army of T2 i also recommend adding some boulder statues mechanism on both ends so you can damage the waves
For the OOA, I just yoink all the temple traps and get my hands on things like fire geysers for that extra flame blasting. Also using reversing conveyor belts might be viable if you can fly.
The Old One's Army is somewhat built around the Summoner, yet you can't get Summon Weapons from it. OOA doesn't really affect my playthroughs, but it's super easy to handle.

i tried it, and maybe i was using it wrong but it kinda sucked
I think the rarity/drop chance of OOA weapons is just fine, but they should be buffed so that they are *far* stronger than any of the more common weapons you receive during normal progression. Damage output and defense are more or less the only rewards for progression throughout Terraria, so additional incentive to deviate from the normal grind should be given. As it stands, the time investment required for OOA doesn't really match the power of the items received from it. I'm about to reach hardmode in my current playthrough and still deciding if I want to do OOA or just blow past it.
As for the parry mechanic, it is very cool, but functionally useless for the kind of game this is. Maybe if there was no perfect parry window and it would always proc when you were guarding it would be better, but even then I don't know that that's really better than just flat-out DPS. Ooh, what if the perfect parry could also parry and force-stop bosses, which are otherwise immune to knockback effects? Now *that* would make it worth using.
Don't forget the Flairon! Tough to obtain, but it makes the ENTIRE game from that point on a breeze, including the ooa of course!
The Old One’s Army is not the best, but it has the Flying Dragon so…
This weapons has a *secret* ability
Literally the description: hold (the key bind for whatever consol you're on) to hold a sheild
Why isn't parrying something all true melee weapons can have? I feel like it would be a cool mechanic to make melee a bit more unique compared to the other classes.

There is atleast one person out there who will take full advantage of this weapon
My favorite thing to do in this game is get a ton of crit rate, grab a brand of the inferno, and a breaker blade at the start of hardmode, and watch as I one shot combo

I feel like its easier to use and get the true nights edge.

I used the sheild of cathulu the first time and I actually beat moonlord wint the dragon staff that shot electricity it was mostly the electric balls that helped

The effect given from parrying works with any melee weapon. Yea even ranged melee weapons.

Fun fact : if manage to parry you get a few invincibility frames . I saw a youtuber named shyguymask use this to parry plantera and go right throught it
For the Old One's Army, I built my event arena in a pyramid-like fashion. Each "step" was 3-wide, with the stand at the top of a 9-wide.

As a true terraria player I do everything in my power to avoid the old ones army at all costs
