Not sure where i learned this one, someone posted a video way back.
Some great tips for early game: You can get Demonite/Crimtane Ore with bombs, or a pickaxe greater than 55% power. (like the Gold/Platinum Pickaxe) You can sit on a toilet, stay in water with a Inner Tube and/or have the Tipsy debuff for some easy fishing power. The Sonar and Fishing Potions are craftable with Waterleaf. 10:55 the lava trick works much better / faster if you empty the bucket on the upper block on the very right of the whole construction and quickly gather the lava that flows down into the "cup" at the left side of that block. Pools can be filled much quicker that way.
A tip for the very start of the game, hit trees as you go for fruit to get the minor improvement buffs to increase early game movement speed before hermes boots. Also, acquiring an early Ancient Chisel found in underground desert chests is a worthwhile investment, the 25% mining speed increase is essentially a permanent mining potion, this can also later be turned into the hand of creation which is a very good QOL accessory to use outside of fights. Additionally, featherfall potions are very underrated even when spelunking or traversing the jungle but especially during boss fights, waterwalking potions work on lava - useful for the wall of flesh fight, and lifeforce potions should be used before other potions since the added max life has to regen. By hammering platforms once onto a wall you can make 'one-way' walls which you and projectiles can pass through but can't come back through - useful for event type scenarios or mobs that can't move through blocks. You can buy opposite evil seeds from the dryad in a graveyard biome to get corruption or crimson exclusive items (such as wrath potions or rage potions respectfully). A tip for fighting biome mimics: If you get the biome mimic off screen it will fly after you, stopping its pattern of attacks and making it much easier to hit, also easy to do by fighting it on a row of platforms which you and the mimic drop off and land back on.
If you’re short on evil shrooms, you can make evil powder, find a nice patch of mushrooms and throw it on them which will turn them into evil mushrooms and then destroy the contaminated blocks
To make the Old One’s Army a lot easier you can hoik 2 blocks on both sides of the crystal facing away, then block swap them with a platform. The ground enemies will walk into the platforms and be forced back and unable to get past, leaving you with just the aerial enemies.
12:40 slice of cake is always part of my mining loadout. Mining with a pickaxe, mining potion, ancient chisel and mining armor + sugar rush effect is so fun
The character loadouts are amazing. I've just been opening my piggy bank and switching in my mining/fishing gear. Takes forever. Thank you! Also, I didn't know I could just throw the guide into lava instead of farming voodoo dolls. Super useful.
I've been playing this game long before 1.3, and you and yrimir still have the best content bar done! Thank you for helping keep this game running strong and giving it the love it deserves ❤️
one tip i have for vanilla players is if you want a more efficient way to use rod of discord and long lasting arena weapons like the nimbus rod or golden shower you can remap your hotbar numbers to the far right to your mouse buttons example: mb3 -> 0, mb4 -> 9 and mb5 -> 8 since you never really use those numbers on your left hand they might come in handy on your right hand to hotswap to important fight items like rod of discord
I didn't know this for the longest time. If you click quick stack in your inventory (not whilst in a chest), it will move the item to nearby chests if it already has the item in it. Very helpful for dumping your items and very easy for organising
One tip that saved me a toooooonnn of time and I wished I knew sooner. So actually, Terraria devs must have known the struggle to make fishponds. Instead of using the dupe glitch, you can use wet bombs, which are WAY quicker to fill an area with water. You can get wet bombs by crafting it with dry bombs in the inventory in water. After that, if you have in the inventory, you can buy more from the miner. Same for lava and honey and even the dry bombs themselves. "How to get dry bombs?", it's a drop from obsidian crates. So you can't do it riiiiight away when you start a new world, but it still doesn't take too long. The water glitch still helps in a pinch, but trust me, as soon you can fish in lava, do it.
One thing I did is that since I have a gaming mouse, I set the shortcut to my first loadout to mouse-4, so that any time I need to rapidly swap out of a task set to a defense set (like when fishing in the sky or underground), it's right there to quickly swap to.
Use the shine potion and night owl pottion together for increased effect. Throw down a glow stick for constant light when mining your hellavator. Mine the little rocks and piles of dirt on the overworld to collect worms. The shimmer always spawns on the jungle side. Use a railway for eoc if you can't find Hermes boots.
whenever you create a new world, the loading bar frame color/style shows you exactly which side has the dungeon and which side has the jungle, no need to explore or find the snow biome at all.
10:40 imo the best way to fill pond with lava or honey , water even is using liquid bomb. You can get wet bomb(water) by opening obsidian or hellstone crates and crafting into dry bomb. Then, crate by standing by respective liquid water, lava, and honey. Also you can buy this liquid bomb by having atleast one of it in your inventory while talking to demolitionist for 25 silver. Once you try liquid bomb bottomless bucket won't satisfied you anymore.
Chippy, this video is the one that just gave me back the passion to play the game. Cant wait to no life it on a new playtrough for 3 months and then retire for the 7th time.
Great video chippy, amazing how much there is to know about terraria! Here’s my tip: Might be obvious to veterans but I’m pre-WoF on my fourth playthrough and it just occurred to me that you can use the piggy bank (and I’m assuming every other inventory item) as a storage you build from, exactly like a chest. Put a few crafting stations in your piggy bank along with some material that you don’t want clogging your inventory (wood, stone, gel) and you can craft a ton of stuff on the go using what’s in the piggy bank (or safe, void bag etc..)!
I love your videos Chippy. Been lurking here for a while. The tips and tricks you've shown I've largely put into practice. I haven't played Tetraria in a while and this here is perfect for me as a returning player.
The magic conch is super nice in legendary mode. Make SURE you get it pre hard mode though because hardmode desert is death. Also get something that can trigger cacti from a distance
7:25 I thought of the same thing when the loadout feature was added. What I usually do is have the first loadout be my main class set for the world, then the second loadout would be my miner/builder set, and finally the third loadout would be my fishing set. It's such a game changer 🙏
Fun trick I used in my legendary mode world: if you want to get your hands on dungeon loot before beating skeletron, you can use beehives to reach the maximum amount of mobs that can be on screen. That way the dungeon guardians won't be able to spawn while you're inside.
my tip for all the people who have not make the fishing achivement is that if u find the quest fish and put it in any chest u can fish another copy. as long u have time u should try getting multiples so u can use them if he ask for the same one again later
These are two tips that I found really helpful from another guide when beating Duke Fishron. The first one tells you to make an arena with around 80 blocks of distance between each level of platforms because this way the tornados won't reach you if you stay in a higher level. The second tip is applied to the third phase and it tells you to use a dash accessory and fly up in the sky to slowly drop down while dashing left and right the charges of the boss. These tips made my fights against Duke Fishron so easy that it's pretty unbelievable. Note: I don't remember the exact distance needed for the first tip to work but I think it was around 80 tiles and the second one works for sure since I use it all the time.
Fun fact, putting the goblin tinkerer and mechanic together will make their happiness 100% no matter what biome. You can use this to your advantage to get all biome pylons
This isn't necessarily a tip, but regarding the Sky Island tip, even if there are no small puddles I've always found a sky island between the beginner forest and the biome to the right (usually the desert) it has roughly a 90% success rate (on Large worlds)
Sweet video. Thanks. Didnt know the class loadout system was new. I used my second loadout for distancing and regen. So I really can't imagine the game without it. I have a couple tips to share, hope they help. When fishing, switching to a different weapon as opposed to reeling it in saves you bait. Paired with the thing that tells you whats on your hook, you can save a sliver of time when fishing in lava while you have limited resources. Bunny Cannons paired with Teal Pressure Pads make for a pretty reliable, janky delay for a switch. Eat food and use toilets often. Your character can carry stuff between worlds, this is especially useful if you just want to farm but are worried about corruption spreading on your home world. Finally, a good way to remember what shimmer can turn stuff into is to remember what is used along them to craft a certain item (Example: You can transmute any of the fisherman reward accessories to become the other fisherman reward accessory being that they're all used to craft one fishing accessory)
A bonus about King Slime, fighting him in underground hallow or corruption/crimson in hardmode can help you if you are struggling to get souls of night or light, as his slime spawns drop a TON of them, about 50 per king slime killed on average, perfect to craft plenty of night or light keys easily if you want to farm these mimics for powerful items Edit: damn they nerfed it after 1.3 this sucks
It may not work for the SoL/SoN, but it still works for farming out the Amarok in Hardmode, which is a fantastic melee weapon and Yoyo (with the right accessories) since it inflicts a good amount of damage AND inflicts the Frostbite debuff, which almost no enemy outside of the universal immune ones are immune to. Combine it with Hellfire and maybe a flask and you can have 2-3 separate damage over-times dealing damage to the mechs AND Plantera depending on which exact Flask is used, maybe Ichor for that extra defense debuff. It's seriously a fantastic weapon that doesn't really require much effort to get, so this tip is still very valid, just for a different purpose.
The particles from rocket boots emit a small amount of light before dissipating, but if you use rocket boots and then switch to a mount like the slime mount, it will often emit a few 'longer life' particles that travel through blocks and momentarily illuminate caves, which you can see on the minimap
Starfury, durandal and solar eruption are grear at illuminating caves from some distance, used to do it with flamelash, but not sure if it still has those particles after its rework
Hey Chippy a trick that blew my mine is how you can kill the dungeon guardian by making a hoik thats like 50X50 blocks make it go like a loop and it doesn't matter what class you are you are like equally likely to kill or get killed by the dungeon guardian for weapons of each class i recommend you use any type of weapon of each class as long as it can shoot projectiles or hit it like a whip
In the 3rd phase of Duke Fishron, and easy way to avoid being hit is to fly upward and toward him just before he dashes, and you will go right over him, then use one of the slime mounts to quickly drop back to the ocean's surface when you run out of wing time.
As a old habbit, I never move arms dealer and nurse to snow biome, as pre 1.4.4 he wouldn't sell you the Pilon three. As for a "tip", more a personal preference, I always transform the world spawn in a Surface mushroom biome, mostly because I leave the Guide with all my crafting stations there, so I get the truffle to move there.
The Wand of Sparking may not hit very hard, but in early game it's anything BUT useless! While spelunking, you can fire it at the wall and the falling sparks will illuminate a small area around it. Very helpful for finding nearby caves and ore deposits instead of mining around aimlessly (which is slow going at first).
I'm sure most people know this but there's always those few who don't! So you can actually walk and shoot through one-block thick walls. Take some platforms and put them on the wall vertically. Hammer them each once, and you can now shoot through the wall. If you hold DOWN as you walk into the wall you will walk through it.
been watching you for a few years now ever since i started playing terarria about 6 years ago and i m really thankful for helping me in my jorneys through this marvelous game as well as introducing me to terarria mods :D
Just the tip about autofire at 9:22 makes this whole video worth it. I have literally passed on higher dps weapons because they did not autofire. I'm an old gamer, and my finger gets mighty tired on some of those long fights.
A thing that I've actively been doing since item trashing got added to the inventory, is using the trash as an extra inventory slot if my inventory is full. Also, if you dont have a money trough or a void bag yet, I like to carry a piggy bank to place down, so I can put any money I have and any extra stuff when my inventory gets full.
I used to do the 2nd one all the time before void bag and money trough got added, was a lifesaver. But good video! Honestly that puddle one took me aback, genuinely never knew that life saving information. I always thought for some reason the floating islands correlated with wherever a massive line of super tall trees was, idk if that was a myth from really old terraria or what.
Wow, the first Terraria hack video, that has something I didn't already know, and a lot more than one at that. You must have had to do a lot of research for this. Love your videos, this one was extra great.
Auto-pause is extremely useful, although only available in single player worlds. Second Phase in the Brain of Cthulhu fight to find the correct clone, or to pause the game quickly to pace yourself for an incoming projectile to dodge.
Tip: do the anglers quests. Even if you don't like it you will get used to it and make a pool in the crimson/corruption before hardmode and if you dont like mining for hardmode ores just fish for crates.
I have a very good tip for fighting the twins, so after you have killed spaz and retinazer is in its second phase you can just bulid cower on your top and to your right an it wont be able to damage you and you can easly defeat it with whips
Tip: Building a singular tall block pillar to space fast. Can be used as soon as you get your first grappling hook. Build the first 3-4 block normal. Hook to the side of the top block. Place the cursor with the block selected above top block. Hold mouse down, mash E. Faster you mash, faster climb, faster you build.
tip: putting gel & fallen stars in your ammo slots is a good way to save space, since gel is really useful, and fallen stars are an easy way to get money.
When you're mining and find an accessory or some armor you want to keep but youre inventory is full, put them in your loadout slots, gives 20 extra accessory inventory spaces and 6 armor piecew
7:57 i use the loadouts early game to store random accesories or armour or whatever I find when my inventory is full. Its really handy when you have found somethings but your inventory is full. Just put the random accesories in that you dont need at the moment. Dont forget to take them out tho. It is maybe 3-4 extra slots (early game because you can just wear and use whatevet you find but its still better then having to go back or trowing something out)
9:11 yeah, I recently played through an entire expert mode world with one of my friends, as mage, and I had zero clue this was a thing. an autofiring inferno staff or staff of earth is so foreign to me.
My personal favourite lifehack for PHM is get the Thunder Zapper ASAP It is the minishark of the early game magic class and I cannot understate how much it has helped me. It's not broken or anything but, more of this, early game Terraria needs *way* more of this, please, Terraria devs, us mages are thirsty bois. How bout a gem staff that has homing or something eh?
similar to the tip at 3:20 , if you find Starfury on a floating island, you can click around under the surface and the star will always go to the lowest open space in comparison to the cursor. i find caves and such like this early game.
I'm pretty sure that you can't place cables inside the temple without the golem killed ^^" You can still hoik through walls to get out of the room though
Not really a lifehack since it's an item in game but you can craft a shadow candle with a torch and some demonite bars and that nullifies the effects of a town
heres a small tip for the star fury, the projectile can pass through caves and walls as long as you dont aim your cursor at a solid block, so you can use it to find caves and see bit before jumping down because it emits light!
When you start a ranger build early game... i always go to a snow biome to get ice forfrostburn arrows, they're more powerful than flame arrows. Also if you go on jungle early, i saw they added big trees that leafs to big honey biome. That's easy honey and easy heal. One great place to fish early on is the oasis. To get lots of food and pearls for luck potions
my first time playing terraria 1.4 master mode i got the drunk seed on accident and beat legendary mode with only having experience in expert mode up until that time

oo i actually came up with that without help, tho it was because it meant i didnt have to worry about opening chests i had already looted
yeah, huge vouch. have been doing this for so long.
It also stops fairies/metal detector from guiding you to chests you've already looted
i just wanna find a spider cave chest it looks cool
A trick I learnt using the armour swapping from 1.4.4 is that you can equip hallowed armour in one of them to give you a way to dodge attacks every 30 seconds, as the cooldown for the buff to reactivate does tick down even while you don't have the armour equipped. Oh thanks man !
the real cultist has a stripe on his hood
I somehow always used this on accident. I never knew why but I always thought he was darker. Thanks.

Ice blocks are basically more accessible asphalt blocks if you have frostspark or terraspark boots. Use them in your arenas.
Does it make you actually go faster? I never knew that
do they make you go faster or just give you more acceleration
I think those accessories only affect acceleration and not movement speed.
Dunerider boots on sand make accelerate quicker and make you much faster
@@hahrhthuhrh3542 it does make you go faster and + you no longer slip in ice blocks/ break icy water blocks.

A trick that blew my mind is one related to the duplicating water trick.

@@porkeyminch8044 Because most of the liquid duplication comes from the bucket gaining a full block of water from picking up half a block of water.

10:55 the lava trick works much better / faster if you empty the bucket on the upper block on the very right of the whole construction and quickly gather the lava that flows down into the "cup" at the left side of that block. Pools can be filled much quicker that way.
Late night chippy post right before my A levels couldn’t think of anything more calming rn
best of luck!
Good luck fellow terrarian🤞
@@ChippyGaming it went great thank you!
@@shadowshot7124 ayyy awesome!
6:04 "The jungle is always opposite the snow biome"
drunk worlds:
If you’re short on evil shrooms, you can make evil powder, find a nice patch of mushrooms and throw it on them which will turn them into evil mushrooms and then destroy the contaminated blocks
To make the Old One’s Army a lot easier you can hoik 2 blocks on both sides of the crystal facing away, then block swap them with a platform. The ground enemies will walk into the platforms and be forced back and unable to get past, leaving you with just the aerial enemies.
I'm pretty sure this glitch was patched if I'm not mistaken
@@IzakiAkanami nope it still works. Relogic have said that they won't remove hoiks. :)

After playing Terraria for 5 years, I still find things I did not know, thanks Chippy, I love the vids as usual. :)
one tip i have for vanilla players is if you want a more efficient way to use rod of discord and long lasting arena weapons like the nimbus rod or golden shower you can remap your hotbar numbers to the far right to your mouse buttons
example:
mb3 -> 0, mb4 -> 9 and mb5 -> 8
since you never really use those numbers on your left hand they might come in handy on your right hand to hotswap to important fight items like rod of discord
I missed this series a bunch, glad to see it's back!
I've been playing this game for so many years and I still learn new things about it from videos like this... Terraria is timeless 🥰
Poor Tax Collector is hated by every NPC. You bring him back from Hell, but now he lives in a different kind of hell
whenever you create a new world, the loading bar frame color/style shows you exactly which side has the dungeon and which side has the jungle, no need to explore or find the snow biome at all.
Here’s my tip:
Might be obvious to veterans but I’m pre-WoF on my fourth playthrough and it just occurred to me that you can use the piggy bank (and I’m assuming every other inventory item) as a storage you build from, exactly like a chest.
Something I learned recently and idk when this was introduced but cloud blocks take away fall damage now
Fun trick I used in my legendary mode world: if you want to get your hands on dungeon loot before beating skeletron, you can use beehives to reach the maximum amount of mobs that can be on screen.

80 blocks is too much imo, usually what I do is just time the tornadoes to land outside the arena on the floor or at the top
A bonus about King Slime, fighting him in underground hallow or corruption/crimson in hardmode can help you if you are struggling to get souls of night or light, as his slime spawns drop a TON of them, about 50 per king slime killed on average, perfect to craft plenty of night or light keys easily if you want to farm these mimics for powerful items
Edit: damn they nerfed it after 1.3 this sucks
If NPC blocks an object you want to interact with, you can click once to start dialogue with this npc, and again, to interact with an object
After a good thousand hours of play time I still find it awesome that your videos teach me things. That fishing load out is actually genius 😆
actually merchant with nurse is a lot easier to get and still works to get a pylon
I’ve been playing since before the crimson was even a thing and I’m still learning things about this game
My 3 loadouts are: Default, Fishing and regen
Been using that puddle trick for a very long time now, always works, just gotta choose the right puddle.
Arms dealer loves nurse so much he's still willing to sell you the pylon even if you put him in the fucking gulag
The Wand of Sparking may not hit very hard, but in early game it's anything BUT useless! While spelunking, you can fire it at the wall and the falling sparks will illuminate a small area around it. Very helpful for finding nearby caves and ore deposits instead of mining around aimlessly (which is slow going at first).
i got starfury early game and lit up a whole cave without mining anything
I'm sure most people know this but there's always those few who don't! So you can actually walk and shoot through one-block thick walls. Take some platforms and put them on the wall vertically. Hammer them each once, and you can now shoot through the wall. If you hold DOWN as you walk into the wall you will walk through it.
Youre talking about hoiks. They have many more uses like invincibility.
Nice tips, taught me a few new ones that I didn't know even after 10+ years of on/off playing ahah
been watching you for a few years now ever since i started playing terarria about 6 years ago and i m really thankful for helping me in my jorneys through this marvelous game as well as introducing me to terarria mods :D
Fired up my Xbox and it had 1.3 on it. It was an interesting change of pace. Terraria is evolving and growing and it's great to see.
4:38 Watch out, Golem will enrage if you leave the temple
Auto-pause is extremely useful, although only available in single player worlds.
Second Phase in the Brain of Cthulhu fight to find the correct clone, or to pause the game quickly to pace yourself for an incoming projectile to dodge.
Tip: do the anglers quests. Even if you don't like it you will get used to it and make a pool in the crimson/corruption before hardmode and if you dont like mining for hardmode ores just fish for crates.
Vouch
Tip: dont
thank you gigachad, very in-character of you
absolutely not
I have a very good tip for fighting the twins, so after you have killed spaz and retinazer is in its second phase you can just bulid cower on your top and to your right an it wont be able to damage you and you can easly defeat it with whips
That last one makes so much sense but jeez its brutal
similar to the smart cursor placing trees the proper distance apart, it also places torches at regular intervals
The pyramid trick also works on large worlds, I use it a lot
When you're mining and find an accessory or some armor you want to keep but youre inventory is full, put them in your loadout slots, gives 20 extra accessory inventory spaces and 6 armor piecew
7:57 i use the loadouts early game to store random accesories or armour or whatever I find when my inventory is full. Its really handy when you have found somethings but your inventory is full. Just put the random accesories in that you dont need at the moment. Dont forget to take them out tho. It is maybe 3-4 extra slots (early game because you can just wear and use whatevet you find but its still better then having to go back or trowing something out)
Cool tip: in the vortex pillar... All you have to do is stay above the mobs that spawn shoot horizontally
9:11 yeah, I recently played through an entire expert mode world with one of my friends, as mage, and I had zero clue this was a thing. an autofiring inferno staff or staff of earth is so foreign to me.
My personal favourite lifehack for PHM is get the Thunder Zapper ASAP
It is the minishark of the early game magic class and I cannot understate how much it has helped me. It's not broken or anything but, more of this, early game Terraria needs *way* more of this, please, Terraria devs, us mages are thirsty bois. How bout a gem staff that has homing or something eh?
After playing Terraria for half my life, I still learned a few tricks!
Ayyy!
similar to the tip at 3:20 , if you find Starfury on a floating island, you can click around under the surface and the star will always go to the lowest open space in comparison to the cursor. i find caves and such like this early game.
I'm pretty sure that you can't place cables inside the temple without the golem killed ^^"
You can still hoik through walls to get out of the room though
The floating island tip is NUTS
Not really a lifehack since it's an item in game but you can craft a shadow candle with a torch and some demonite bars and that nullifies the effects of a town
chippy you should look into a game called necesse :) its like a top down version of this but it feels like a brand new thing.
9:00 that is brilliant and one I actually never knew of thought of
Good to see a new video I do miss your lets plays tho
heres a small tip for the star fury, the projectile can pass through caves and walls as long as you dont aim your cursor at a solid block, so you can use it to find caves and see bit before jumping down because it emits light!
I wish I’d known these tips before I 100% the game 😅
The smart cursor had evolved so much, I personally use it to light up my hellavator as it places them perfectly apart for maximum light
To get lots of food and pearls for luck potions
my first time playing terraria 1.4
master mode i got the drunk seed on accident and beat legendary mode with only having experience in expert mode up until that time
there's something about the picture of being in the middle of a fight just to pull out a chair to sit and regen life that has me rolling
I love how for the golem one he had a valid excuse for why somebody would struggle with him.
