Maybe it's about time that Australians can REFUSE to fund Universities that don't adhere to COMMUNITY standards, instead of THEIR idea of acceptable standards.
There's a difference between actively insulting people and just having an opinion which offends, which somehow many unis have become to stupid to distinguish.
This ban on "speech that might offend" is not total. It is still acceptable to use speech that offends Christians. Or capitalists. Or police. Or conservatives. Or heterosexuals. Or (in Hillary Clinton's characterization) the Deplorables.
Universities should be for exchange of ideas and opinions, and not indoctrination. I currently study at the University of Western Australia, taking Master of International Relations course, and I observe a one-sided far-left teaching ideology underlying everything we learn. Students are not encouraged to express their opinions, and I would be ostracised if I said anything against the unrealistic climate change activism, States obligations to the UN's migrants' policy, or Indigenous people demands for their own sovereign state within the State of Australia (Irene Watson), just to mention few issues.
