I am a diabetic caused by genetics. My doctor had told me it is not possible to control my type of diabetes. I am stubborn and wanted to proof him wrong. Lots of discipline and self control and lots of research.. it is now controlled by a low carb diet and I have not have to go on meds or needed insulin shots. I refused and promised myself that I won’t get to that stage. I lost my rights to eat any rice, pasta, potatoes, desserts, any flour products, sugary food, fruits..etc. My hubby is pre diabetic caused by bad eating habits and just by eating the bad food in moderation, he can easily return to normal. I have done a lot of research, and although very depressing that I must avoid most of the “delicious” and “favorite” food, I don’t have a choice unless I want to have organ damage, go blind, can’t walk, can’t live a normal life.. Diabetes is a very damaging disease. Lots of people think that just because lots of people have it, just because there are meds to help, they don’t need to worry and can eat whatever they want. Meds have tons of side effects. When it comes to our health, taking the short cut way to heal by jumping into pharmaceutical meds is not wise. Eat and exercise and live well should be the first step in treatment. Pharmaceuticals meds should only be implemented to stabilize us if it is needed, followed by a proper diet and exercise regiment and once healthier, stay away from pharmaceutical meds. The side effects could be worse than the disease!

If you dont buy it... YOU CANT EAT IT
i had a blood sugar spike at 1am this last sunday morning that woke me up with my heart racing and i felt wonky. This event scared me. I was contemplating going to the ER if it didnt slow down after drinking water. I finally felt a little better 4 hrs later. Checked my sugar after going downstairs, it was down to 160.
I fell off the wagon for the last few weeks and this was the result...
Ive gotten back on and in the last few days i feel much better, the weight loss is also getting back on board. Already 3lbs since sunday. When im not making bad choices im able to lose quickly.
I dug this hole im in... ive got to dig myself out. Nobody forced me to eat or drink anything. Ive done this to myself... NO MORE!
In the last year ive jumped on and off the wagon, dropped 25lbs in the process.
But ive got to put my nose to the grindstone and quit telling myself i should reward myself for each milestone...
Ive got lots of fresh vegetables now ready to harvest and a freezer full of good quality meat.
No excuses. No more of this. This snuck up on me over the years, i ate whatever and whenever i wanted.. and im paying the price. Insulin resistance and prediabetic is not a good way to go thru this life.
I want to be thin again, feel better, but first and foremost...
    be HEALTHY.

This comment describes so many people, myself included.
I have something encouraging to add: humans have the ability to alter our preferences! When you need to change your eating habits, don't look at it as "cutting out the stuff I like". Instead, choose a positive outlook like "learning to love everything that's good for me".
This makes it easier to dive into healthy eating with passion! Once you know what kinds of food are right for your health, get creative with combinations. Master the art of preparing them in various healthy ways. Experiment with new seasonings. After 30 well-prepared healthy meals of a given food, most people will have built a preference for it! This makes sticking with it much easier!
Another suggestion is to always have an acceptable "backup food" available, for the inevitable times when you don't have the time, opportunity, or energy to prepare healthy meals. One perishable (such as plain cottage cheese or live culture yogurt) and one portable/non-perishable (like a pouch of nut and seed varieties). It's way easier to stick with it when you're prepared.

I'd say that >50% of people are overweight/obese to the point that they now feel more comfortable being fat because the majority of their friends are just like them. All by design! If the powers above were so concerned about the health of mankind, they could easily overcome it by educating kids in school. Follow the money!

For deli meats, Applegate and Dietz & Watson are two popular brands which do not use free radicals as preservatives, (no nitr-, sulf-, or phosph- -ate or -ite), they also may make some sausages and bacon. There are a few brands of "uncured" bacon which similarly skip the free radicals i.e. oxidizers. Many store brands also make an Italian style sausage without the additives. Use your eyeballs, use your brain, read the label, decide for yourself. Making sausage fresh at home is also an option.

Dr Ekberg is the reason for my change in mindset towards my own health. Before I’d discovered this channel, I had no clue about fasting and the benefits and I might have assumed it was bad to not eat because I did have a terrible high carb tendency and I ate frequently. Dr Ekberg’s videos taught me many many things and now I feel confident in my decisions to fast and my choices in high fat good quality protein meals. I also love spreading this knowledge around to the ones I care about to encourage them to see the results for themselves. The moment I realized that I could control my own diet and energy production was during the 5 weeks I initially tried extended fasting and meal preparation. I lost 10 pounds in the first week and 40 pounds in 5 weeks. I thank every influence online that gives out this knowledge. I give many thanks to Dr Ekberg and I will always have a tub of euLyte on hand to keep my body functioning the best I can control it.

Most videos seem to concentrate on just one area, so it's harder to get friends and family to follow along, due to "video overload". Good Morning ☀️ it’s still dark and 3:33 AM out here in Phoenix .. thanks for the info ~ I had sepsis from a botched hemorrhoid banding and lost my lower intestines. Suffering from sepsis sequelae right now ~ my diet is very limited. Looks like I’m doing good with what I DO NOT eat ! I do not eat any processed foods , fast foods , fatty foods or meat at all . I limit all starches and carbohydrates~ was wondering if you have any recommendations for supplements that help reduce inflammation.. unfortunately my wound “down there “ opened up 10 days after surgery and it took 9 1/2 months of nurse s coming to my home, packing and unpacking it every other day ….so I’m left with severe adhesions with nerve entrapment. I have tried so many things to help this part of my body heal so I can get on with my life. Take neuropathy supplements I use red light therapy. I use Tesla coils and Cymatones ~ I’m very much into frequencies and sound vibrations Seems to help quite a bit but not enough! ( RIFE frequencies) would be very appreciative if you have any other suggestions thank you so much😊 I do not have any other medical conditions, such as diabetes, COPD, congestive heart failure, or obesity. I am 5 foot six and weigh 130 pounds. I just want to get better desperately. 😊

According to my wife this message is not common knowledge among pharmacists and GP's in NZ. I have followed Dr. Stan Ekberg for a long time and despite having no medical training seem to have acquired a better understanding of the causes of type 2 diabetes than half the health professionals in my country. I think Dr. Ekberg should be compulsory viewing for all health professionals and educators in general.

In Australia there's a supermarket duopoly.. Both companies publish weekly catalogues that offer high processed high sugar products as their main draw card, often devoting many pages to these unhealthy "foods". Interestingly, they also promote "supplements".. often at over inflated prices.
1 or 2 pages only, are devoted to fresh produce and meat/fish categories. Something is terribly wrong in this equation.

Before I was always trying to lose weight and never succeed. After seeing this Dr videos, I started my fasting journey on 21st of June last month, I did 5 day water and electrolyte (homemade , water , salt, lemon and apple cider vinegar combination) and green tea fast to reset my body and after that OMAD with Keto. I went from 5ft 10 inch (age 31) 218 pounds to 194 pounds today. I didn't use specs anymore, smells upgraded, mind is hyper active all day, walking 20000 steps per day. Thanks to this human being. I will go OMAD until I reach 170 and it will become normal meals to control weight. Main advantage it's not hard anymore, like new normal for me. Great thing is that I don't feel hunger anymore

There were experiments done with rodents that developed cancer after eating nitrites and nitrates. However they were vastly over fed those nitrites and nitrates so the results are quite poor. Also only done in rodents - not humans. The amount of nitrites / nitrates in bacon is generally about 3.5% of the original meat weight if dry cured and most gets washed off after the curing. Basically don’t worry too much about them.

Ya I don’t know any of them that say that. There is usually way more nuance. First there is no good and bad there are degrees. Most of them say as far as meat goes beef is way superior to bacon but bacon is a better choice than carbs and if you’re going to eat bacon try and get a natural without all the nitrates. I haven’t heard one say that bacon is anywhere near the best choice for meat. They are trying to give an idea of degrees. Way better to eat bacon once a week than sugar once a week. Probably better to eat bacon every day than sugar once a week but I wouldn’t do either.

Dr. Ekberg is great. I`ve watched quite a few of his videos and I can hardly object anything. I`ve had gout for 10 years now and have been on allo, not obese or having any other metabolic issues, but I do, for example, love beer and chocolate. It seems so hard to have a healthy diet, especially if you don`t really have time for cooking. I live in Europe (Switzerland), I guess the food sold in stores here might be of a better quality and less processed than in North America, but it would be still hard finding checking up whether the food I am buying is actually highly processed, rather fresh or total trash. I requires so much attention. I`ll try to avoid as much of the mentioned stuff as possible, especially to prevent insuline resistance, but cutting it out completely will be as hard as for a crack addict quitting crack, I suppose. Anyway, thumbs up for the great work Dr. Ekberg does!

Hello Dr. Ekberg, could you please once talk about oxalate overload and dumping? In Keto, Ketovore, Carnivore & Lion Diets, by eliminating certain vegetables we can actually trigger this detox which can sometimes cause severe symptoms: oxalate crystals being released. Not many talk about this, but when I thought who could and would dive down this rabbit-hole and be able to explain it to us, I thought of you Doc! BTW, I just was at the eye doctor and I‘m pretty sure one of these small crystals was trying to push it‘s way out of my lower eyelid. It was extremely painful, swollen and irritated, then the doctor pressed it out and was shocked to see a small crystal emerge. I‘ve also heard testimonies about these extra fine crystals pushing out through various body parts. What exactly are they? Is it somehow salt? Calcium? Does it really come from plant toxins: oxalates? If so, where are these crystals accumulating and is there a good stategy for doing a „controlled dumping“? I know Dr.Ekberg, you and many of us are still consuming plenty of vegetables. The question remains - Can we figure this out & help people realize, this is a thing, especially for those older folks just starting Keto or Carnivore. I would imagine they are more prone to these happening, but I have no real data. Maybe you could investigate? Thanks for all you do!

Hello! Maybe you can help me figure out one thing. I’m a 42 years old woman living in Sweden. I could loose about 5 kg but look normal bodywise. For about five years I have had a fasting glukos level at 6.0 in swedish measurement terms. The normal limit ends at 6.0. This is a morning bloodtest without eating after 19.00 pm the night before the test. They are higher than I want them to be. The thing that confuses me is that my long term sugar (Hb1Ac) is always good on the scale. I have about 32 on a normal scale 27-42. In March I got a glukos result at 6,5. I immediately stopped eating sugar, increased working out and lowered karbohydrates. In may my fasting glukos were back to 6.0. Better but it’s so frustrating because I was hoping on a even better results after I hade fought so hard. Can you explain why they don’t seem to be able to reachs about 5.0? Why is my long term sugar normal on the lower side but my glukos so high? Can my removal of my gall bladder in 2013 have something to do with this? I must admit that I drink a glass of Coca cola zero once a day as a treat. I have stopped drinking juice and avoid fruits. So happy if you can help me. I feel very motivated of keeping this up.

Hello. I've been watching your videos for years. I always find them informative. I eat an excellent whole foods diet religiously. Low carb (around 80 grams per day at most) I exercise for about 90 minutes every day. Im 5 foot 10 and 140 pounds (male, mid 60's). My waist to height ratio is low. Body fat is about 12%. I assume I'm metabolically pretty healthy. You said at the end of the video that a whole foods diet alone avoids 90% of the problems. With the other factors I've listed, I'd guess my percentage is even higher than that. However, I'm a moderate beer drinker, and occasionally binge drink beer. Usually low cal and low carb. In your opinion, should I not be overly concerned about this one vice? Full disclosure, I've dealt with moderate depression all my life. Admittedly, I use the alcohol to deal with that. It's worked well and I prefer that over medication. It's worked well thus far without any negative impact to my life. I understand about acetaldehyde and all that. So, most of the time, I try to drink at a pace that gives my liver ample time to metabolize the alcohol. Liver shows no signs of fat. Anyway, just wondering what your opinion is.

Depends what kind of meat (how was the animal fed and raised) and depends what kind of vegetable (was it grown in living nutrient dense soil and grown without the use of several chemical poisonings)
In truth a tiny amount of meat and vegetables in our system system are grown/raised like they should be.
