@@shoulderBirb yes this. They remove the rigs and wires and add the bg. So it's a practical stunt but it's still assisted. Most of the stunts are done this way for the series. Gi Joe....

I love that Ryan basically just explains what happens in the first movie with barely any plot holes and each pitch meeting afterwards gets more and more ridiculous.
That's why my wife and I only count the first movie----- which we both LOVE.
But ALL of the sequels-----yeah, I'm in complete denial that they even happened.

I love the first 3 movies. But the last 2 weren't so good.
I didn't like the second and third movies at first but with the full context I actually really like them on rewatching. 4 was so abysmally bad though I checked out for good from the franchise

Because the Pirates writers actually planned for Carina to be Barbosa's daughter, while everyone working on the Star Wars sequels had no idea what they were doing and settled on Rey being a Palpatine at the last minute.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it in the comments, but it is actually mentioned that a kiss from a mermaid can cause a person to breathe underwater, which is shown early in the movie with a sailor getting ensnared in a fishing net and still being alive...
So when the mermaid kisses the guy near the end of the movie and drags him under the water, it's the same thing.

I feel like we're overdue a pitch meeting of M. Night Shyamalan's Lady in the Water. Mostly because that movie has so many questionable decisions and I want to see how Producer Guy reacts to some of these things. Absolutely love these videos, btw. They are fantastic.

I actually like that they didn't show the kraken get killed. It was like a force of nature and an embodiment of the untamed seas, and for it to unceremoniously die adds to the sense of tragedy of the end of an era and passing of the romanticized aspects of pirates.

I always assumed the battle with the black pearl basically killed it / seriously injured it and then as the Navy gets control they abuse it by demanding it attacks ship after ship which it doesn't do very efficiently as it's limping along and the build up of injuries eventually finishes it
No, Lord Beckett mentions that he made Davy Jones kill his “pet”. As I never see a cat on board the Dutchman I assume he meant the Kraken.

Also, why didn't she just join him on the Dutchman? She was an accomplished fighter and she knew her way around a boat. She was also super in love with Will and wouldn't want to leave him.
And then why was Will shirking his duty to the dead? The Dutchmen crew only got fish bits on them because they weren't doing their job.
I feel like you could do an entire master class screen writing course just watching every single Pitch Meeting; if you don't understand the formula and how to jump plot holes by the end there is no hope for you in Hollywood. Because really, it's super easy. Barely an inconvenience.

At the end of the At World's End pitch, even though the Bad guys had hundreds more ships, they knew the power of the flying dutchman so they'd rather leave than all die

The mass murder of people including a small child at the beginning of Pirates 3 was legitimately one of the most disturbing things I've seen in a movie, and I've seen a ton of horror movies
pirates did have rules, the entire crew could contribute to a constitution and they'd vote for things to be done and the captain has one vote
the captain is only really *absolutely* the boss when in battle
if the captain messes up they elect another one (also they might kill the captain)
no lords or kings though i think, they're anarchist
Hence the black flag, and they also rotated chores, even the captain had to clean the deck.

It was the coin on one of his braids. To be fair the nine pieces of eight are just random pieces of junk the first pirate lords had to bind Calypso since they were broke at the time. They only continued to call it nine pieces of eight cause it sounds cool lol
