    With all our bike shops closed at the moment, it was really amazing to find your video and with such clear instruction, I easily fixed my front derailleur issue Thank you Sebi!

    Worked perfect! Perfect fit and easy installation my Latest.Bike . Due to a back condition, I needed item to raise the handlebars up a couple of inches.

    Great video. I never considered friction paste at the braze-on. that's a great idea. I've been having issues with Rival AXS FD dropping the chain off of the large chainring onto the cranks. I had to adjust the high limit screw so that it touches the chain in order to keep it from dropping.

    • @sebibuchs
      @sebibuchs  Рік тому

      Yeah friction paste really helps keeping that thing in place without putting too much stress ok the bolt
      The video was made at the time when the rival AXS wasn‘t out yet probably it comes with new issues😁it is anyway a good idea to install a chain catcher to prevent it from shifting between chain rings and frame and for the outer limit yes it would need to be tight in order to keep it from shifting over the chainring I hope I get to fix a rival in the future so I could make a video about that too

    I wish you had discussed pairing the derailleur with the shifter, assuming it was a “replacement” front. (In some cases, people will be replacing a front one with a new-to-them, yet used unit, since SRAM no longer makes 11-speed units.)

    Every time i use the 52x28 it drops to 34x28 and up again to the 52x28. It is the fronts deraliurs fault. What can i do to adjust it? Thank you

    This is great thanks! If the chain is dropping frame-side every 100km or so, would you recommend turning the lower limit just a fraction clockwise to move the plate out and away from the frame?

    • @sebibuchs
      @sebibuchs  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks man! Exactly, you really want that derailleur plate to stop the chain, also the chain needs to have enough tension so be sure not to have a too long chain

    • @scotthorvath6779
      @scotthorvath6779 3 роки тому

      @@sebibuchs thanks for the reply! Didn't know that about a long chain either. I was also thinking that moving the plate away from the frame would mean that the plate can't throw the chain as fast towards the frame because the plate is 'stopped' a few micrometers earlier :)

    Good video ... My force etap axs front derailleur is driving me crazy. Always pushing the chain over the large ring. Gonna try to minimize the gap between derailleur and ring tomorrow and not follow the manual to strict ... Hopefully that resolves the issue ... did you have similar problems with ur etap?

    • @sebibuchs
      @sebibuchs  4 роки тому +1

      steppen2k thank you man! With this particular red etap it was the case that the chain dropped into the frame, so the opposite of your case!:p but i have heard (from a very experienced mechanic) that sram have always had their problems with coming up with solid front derailleurs...

    Thank you for this video! I've been riding etap with no issues for about 2 years. But during a ride on my computrainer the other night, I suddenly started getting a click-click noise which turned out to be the crank arm hitting the trailing edge of the front derailleur cage. I adjusted the top limit screw a full turn to bring it in towards the frame. I've fixed the noise, but now I'm very near the limit of it not always shifting onto the large ring. Nothing seems loose or bent. So I'm at a loss as to why it suddenly came out of adjustment. Do you have any ideas?

    • @sebibuchs
      @sebibuchs  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the question! Did you align your derailleur with the indication lines? The lateral adjustment is important so it is parallel to the cranks when it is in the small ring position. Greets!

    • @rhfritz
      @rhfritz 4 роки тому

      @@sebibuchs Is the line on the hanger aligned with the big or small chain ring? Still, it's odd to me that it would suddenly come out of adjustment in the middle of a ride on a trainer.

      @@rhfritz Thank you for a perfectly paced installation video. I've been riding eTap 2 years w/out a problem until early this morning. I hit a very sharp crack in the street (poorly pointed headlamp!) and that sharp bump may have caused extreme chain slap or something similar that moved the alignment of my front derailleur. It would throw the chain going to the big ring. Carbon friction paste is a great idea.

    • @Methodical2
      @Methodical2 4 роки тому

      This happened to me on a ride the other day and only thing I can think of is I must've hit the derailleur with my shoe because the derailleur had actually shifted and was hitting the crank arm; I had to twist it back into position and drop back to the smaller ring. It was a strange occurrence. I'm working on it now to get it back in order.

    At 3:29 does "going to the limit" help quite significantly with reducing the likelihood of dropping the chain away from the frame?

    • @sebibuchs
      @sebibuchs  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the question! Of course the limit screws are more important, but i would anyway install it as close as possible to the chainring for optimal shifting, the more space between the outer plate and the chainring, the less efficient it will work

    Did you put the braze-on hanger wedge back on at the very end? (sorry about all the questions).

    • @sebibuchs
      @sebibuchs  3 роки тому +1

      no worries, you ask all the questions you need:) Yeah I would put it on only when you are sure that is is in the right position, because once the wedge is on it should not be moved, otherwise the support of the wedge will not work

      @@sebibuchs thanks! I'm just preparing myself for installing a sram chain catcher. I currently have a shimano braze-on adapter (SM-AD91 28.6 MM) which doesn't have the round braze-on surface I need for the sram chain catcher so I will also need to change that to a generic braze-on adapter that will be compatible with my steel frame! A bit like a puzzle!
