I managed to misalign my rear derailleur while removing and replacing the rear wheel after washing my bike. I'm still not used to the whole through axle disc brake setup and how everything has to be millimeter perfect when going back on. After I put the wheel back on without stripping the threads on the axle or frame, the gears were skipping like crazy and all the clatter as well. I found this video, and managed to correct the problem. Thank you so much for sharing!

This video came at perfect time, had to remove rear wheel to fix puncture. When reinstalled wheel had delay shifting into low gear on a one cog. Did micro adjustment and works great.
I just did this. I searched and this video came up. I have a Rival / GX Eagle AXS mullet setup. The second cog from the top 52 was always noisy. 3 clicks as you have shown in one direction, and its fixed. Thank you very much for this video. Very easy. Why is it people don't like electric drivetrains again?
Great video, worked perfectly. Brand new Canyon with SRAM AXS Rival, setting it up out the box and it was awful, skipping and rattling. Luckily found you guys and 2 minutes later all working perfectly. Thank you so much!
Your instruction videos are amazing. For some reason my bike shop here in Orlando are having issues setting up the electronic SRAM products as my new Cannondale Force AXS road bike and new SRAM XO Santa Cruz MTB upgrade came back from the shop out of alignment. Very annoying. Hopefully, I can get both bikes into alignment with the help of this very straight forward video.
Great video, although It’s useful to mention what cog to start testing. I found it easier to start on the 2nd (from the smallest) cog, that way I know I’m making proper adjustments within the range limits. If after adjustments I can’t switch to the smallest cog then I know I went in the wrong direction.
This is actually the same for the original road eTap not just AXS. Really cool and handy feature :-) I always have to tweak three outboard on my KICKR, then three back inboard when I put my wheel back on
Hi! I've been searching the internet for tips on the original RED eTap (non-AXS) for micro-adjustments. Wondering if you could answer a couple questions that I've still not found answers to! 1. How many micro-adjustments does eTap offer? In that, it shouldn't be possible for the micro-adjust to shift that many times (millimetres) to where it ends up shifting to the next gear up/down, right? 2. Does micro-adjusting the the RD from one cog affect the position of the RD for every other cog? Or can we micro-adjust the RD for each individual cog like Di2? 3. Is there any way to "hard reset" the RD so that any previous micro-adjustments are eliminated installing the RD? Appreciate any help in advance!
@@C-zt6ps one micro adjustment for all cogs, not individual. You can get it to shift gear with micro adjusts, kind of need to given how far out alignment can be. No way to reset as far as I’m aware. Hope that answer your questions :-)
Thank you for a quick and simple video. Very useful. I also found it helpful to look on the SRAM app on my phone while shifting so I could see the changes that I made.
I've recently had force on my bike and the gears never sound quiet, the black coated cassette is awful. When you think you've got it set up well in the stand they sound so different whilst you are actually riding. Loook at the new force cassettes coming out Sram have done away with the coating. Keep up the good work!
does the green light change colour at the levers when the battery is low ??? also what if the knocking comes only in one particular cog and after adjustment that cog is fine however some other cog is misaligned .. then what does one do and why it may so happen ??
Great video, thanks for sharing! So I got a new bike came with Rival, but the rear derailleur has scratches on it and the front crank won't shift...the bike shop said they will replace them from another bike. My concern is, since the drivetrain all comes adjusted, would reinstall it cause misalighment or other issue?
The exact same adjustment can be performed using micro adjustments settings through SRAM app - you don't even need to press those little buttons on the shifters
In-app MicroAdjust is a feature that is only available on road rear derailleurs at this time. Quoted from support. My microadjust isn't available on the app. Boooo....
I am using a Rivel, only rear gear. And it doesn't pair, but the signal is thrown because the green light blinks, but when I click it to shift I can heard a beeping noise from derailleur. Do you have any idea? All batteries are fully charged. 😢
You're the best! I thoroughly enjoy your vids. I recently bought a Pinarello Prince that came with the Force etap and am not familiar with SRAM, thanks👍🏼
Can you micro-adjust on each cog or does the micro-adjust on one cog also apply to same amount of shift to all cogs? Also any way to reset the micro-adjust to a factory default?
@@GCPerformance18so then it’s not each cog… it’s a single trim feature, applied on a particular reference cog, the results of which will span the entire cassette. Reference cog could be any, but I agree with your point that the best cog to choose is the one with the straightest chainline.

I’ve just been using my new orbea oiz ltd with xx1 axs, 10/52 cassete for like ten days… It’s been difficult to fine tune it… I had a problem when the chain got stuck two or three times… going up to the larger cog… The jockey pulley tangled and it was a mess… then we realized the hanger was bent (didn’t know if it was after the jamming or not)… but the micro adjustment you showed was the key… The derailleur was touching the larger cog when moving up from the second large up… Really fine tuning… This happened only when there was a higher load on the crank… Was really sad!! @@GCPerformance18 I replaced my crankset from rival to force, now shifting the front derailleur from small to large doesn't engage the chain. So not sure if I should fix with micro trims or using high/low screws (I don't even see the screws on rival axs)
Think of the limit screws as your mechanical fail-safe - they physically limit the derailleur from going beyond the boundaries of the cassette. This way no software/config issue can overshoot your chain. The new 12sp Shimano Ultegra-DA front derailleurs don’t have this (which can cause chain drops).
