    i know this is old now but you shouldn't adjust the high limit screw on the front mech with the chain on your large ring at the front and the large on the back. The chain will move considerably further outboard when you are on your smallest ring at the back...

      Don't know about you, but my installation didn't go anywhere near as smooth as any of the UA-cam videos have shown. I ended the needing about 8mm of "B" gap. Works great now.

    So strange not having any cabling, I love it!!! Go back a few years and this could have been a hoax video :)

      +Robeenio bt The only cables you now have are for the brakes (using the eTap system). However, I am sure someone will try to work on a wireless brakes as well. Then, it would be completely cable-less road bike.

      I don't think wireless brakes is limited by technology, I think it's a safety problem. I'd take a wireless rear-brake though. Keep the front brake wired in case the battery is dead.

    Can we get abs braking system braking by wire maybe? Could be powered by a little motor in the hub

    This is an awesome installation video!
    Do you need to add a wedge for the front derailleur?

    • @DrJRMCFC
      @DrJRMCFC 4 роки тому

      Kevin Tufts It is a good idea as it will avoid any unnecessary flex. The front mech produces a considerable amount of torque and the wedge will help ensure a smooth change.

      @@DrJRMCFC Thanks JR! I ended up finding the wedges that came with my derailleur and used the appropriate size for my frame. All is well.

    Hi can you tell me, is it possible to adjust the limit screw on the rear derailleur to have say 5-6 or 7 lower gears ? Or would you need to fit a longer limit screw ?

      It will work with your force 22 ... Just get the eTap upgrade kit and you are good to go. Just make sure your cassette is not more then a 11-28T

    I'm still trying to find out why this is so expensive. Especially when you look at from a technological point of view it doesn't add up to the price you pay.

    • @bikeradar
      @bikeradar  8 років тому +3

      +Louis Greenleaf There's a lot of proprietary tech going on in there. If you think about common existing wireless devices and how often they suffer from latency and unreliability then the price seems more sensible. Whether the performance and ease of use justifies the *spend* is up to the individual rider though, as always.

    Where is the function button if I don’t have shifters, just blips?

  • @user-rc8eq9jq4f
    @user-rc8eq9jq4f 7 років тому

    if they come out with a 12 -13 speed with this system still work or will you have to buy a whole new system? also I have sram red 10 speed with this work with my 10 speed red?

    • @marcuswong1797
      @marcuswong1797 7 років тому

      the shifters/front derailleur probably just need a firmware update, but i can see the rear derailleur would need to buy a new one. also need the typical 12/13 spd cassette, chain and chain rings of course.
      They probably have no firmware for 10spd.

    So initial setup is a breeze. Shimano wired a pain. Then, I have 2 batteries I have to charge for ever so after that, for y e a r s and y e a r s I pay for that easy initial setup. Not to mention only charging the Shimano one battery once a month. So it's really E-tap-tap....Then worry about the batteries in the shifters.....They will sell many many of them with the initial easy setup because people are mostly short sighted.

    • @Methodical2
      @Methodical2 4 роки тому +1

      With 2 batteries, if for some dumb reason you forget to charge the battery, you can swap the front derailleur battery to the rear, since the front is used much less and would typically have more charge in it, that way you can continue to shift in the rear and have some life left to shift up front, if necessary (i.e. not stuck in one gear for the ride). The batteries are so small that I just carry a spare in my bag; it takes up very little space and is not even noticeable. If the Shimano battery dies, you are stuck in one gear for the rest of the ride. Try carrying a spare Di2 seat post battery in your bag and having to make a change in the middle of a ride. As far as the shifter battery goes, they will last years and years and years before dying and replacement costs is less than $1, so I don't understand your premises as it relates to those batteries. Additionally, it only takes about 1 hour to charge the derailleur batteries and I don't have to setup my bike near an outlet in order to plug in and charge those batteries. I just pop them off the bike, plug them into the charger and plug the charger into any outlet..bike is in it's normal storage location (not stuck near an outlet for charging). I like SRAM's truly WIRELESS setup and the clean wireless look. So, it's all about trade offs and what one likes.
