My dad loved this guy and never missed his shows.... I was too young to understand this...but now, looking back and watching Dave Allan again, I realise my dad had a great sense of humour
So funny. My parents who were devout Catholics used to laugh and laugh at this guy. They could see the absurdities ... Unlike many of today’s comedians, Dave really had soul.
That hilarious "I love him!" will stay with me for the rest of my life. I admired Dave Allen as a teenager in Germany and to this day his impeccable acting, timing, body language while constantly evoking experiences of bare terror make him one of the greatest comedians of all time to me. I love him dearly and I miss him very much.
I'm utterly amazed. One of the wittiest, most intelligent and most original comedians that we have ever seen on TV, and the BBC are ashamed of him? We're going backwards!

Some of my best childhood memories are spending Friday night with my Grandmother while Mum and Dad went out staying up late watching Dave Allen, Brilliant!!
I loved Dave Allen when he was on the telly when I was a kid, it's wonderful to see this now. It's still superb comedy: gentle, funny, poignantly sad, completely honest and delivered with that perfect timing of his. And a beautiful skewering of the absurdity of religion that is apparent before one is indoctrinated and can no longer look at it objectively. Awesome talent.

Oh my this takes me back to my Boarding School days when we all cramed into th tiny tv room to see him once a week. A brilliant man for his time and just listen to the truth in his points about the church. These are truely timeless truths. RIP Dave and thanks for all you gave us.

A unique, incredible talent. Up until the 5th grade, I attended a Roman Catholic school in South Boston so I can totally relate to his "first day of school" experience. It didn't get any better. Fortunately for me, our family moved to the middle of Illinois, and I never had to face that degree of madness again.

I'm an atheist and i can relate 100% with this fictional kid and his faces when hearing the most ridiculous answers and just accepting all the BS because of fear. Exactly how religion works. Brilliant! We atheist are the most advanced and evolved humans on Earth. And we answer to no one, here or after death. We acknowledge no authority above humans. We are free.
