Ended up going with the smart pro XL grill. We love it. Have had it a few weeks now and use it a few times a day. I dont use the stove much at all now. Best thing I have ever owned
I just got the original for grilling purposes, i have dehydrators instapots liquid core stainless steal cooker steamers airfryers.... so the original version will suite my needs, and i like its compact feature and is perfect for my 2 person family
Thanks Brandon, I bought the classic on sale at Costco, it was on $154.00. It works for me a single guy and the clean up is easy. Great job on the review. I subbed.
I wish you would just go ahead and review everything I ever plan to buy. Everybody else should watch you to see how product reviews should be done. Thanks for the help!
Excellent video! I have the XL Pro, I got it last summer on Prime Days, really cheap ($149). It sells for $229 now, which is probably still worth it. I love the open cooking, and the griddle. Nothing wrong with the other ones, and the others are cheaper, just buy the one that you really want, and fits your budget. They are all great, but the griddle really makes a huge difference.
Thank you for your clear and concise explanation comparing and contrasting the 3 different models of Ninja Foodis. Very good video. FYI (in case you are interested): Nutritionally, dried fruit and table sugar are almost the same, both exceedingly high in Fructose sugar which spikes insulin and glucose levels in the body and one of the major underlying causes of many serious diseases over the long term. Drying fruit concentrates the sugar, although you do get a tiny bit of trace nutrients and, of course, a pleasing flavor, but to think that it is a healthy alternative to table sugar simply isn't true. The choice is always ours to make, but good to make informed decisions. Personally, I'm interested in the dehydrator function to make my own yogurt. The XL Pro will best suit my needs, as well. Thanks again for the great video.
There's nothing wrong with sugar fruit dry or not and carbs. I use to demonize sugar/carbs, not any more .Sugar has a ph of 7 lowers cortisol and help with your mood/stress. It's the fat we need to avoid that's why the air fryers are a great appliances to invest in. Oil clogs your arteries, pancreas/organs = diabetes and cancer. You need glucose for energy to the cells. Great review thank you 😊
@@ejarvis9337 yeah ok bud you are wrong on so many levels fats have nothing to do with clogging arteries. what does ph level have to do with health in relation to diets? why don't you add some reference material to make your claim more then a claim by some random commenter on youtube such as myself. i know people that eat only sugary crap and carbs that are fat af and unhealthy. Dr Eric Berg among many others i could list if youd like me to have proven without a doubt a high fat low carb diet is the only way to combat and even reverse diabetes and heart disease.
@@ejarvis9337. You do not have to avoid fat. What you need to avoid is sugar and oils you can use fat instead of oil, such as tallow. There is nothing good in sugar.
I have the original one, which is the body style of the first air fryer but has the built in thermometer of the more expensive one. It was the top of the end one like 4 or 5 years ago, I think it's the best model since it has the deeper pan for making stews and the air fryer basket to collect the debris from the food, but also has the capabilities to cook perfect medium rare steak 🥩 100% of the time with basically zero effort. It really is better than the entire current lineup in my opinion.
Thanks for the great review and comparison! I'm going to get the Smart XL pro which is basically the last unit you reviewed but with a thermometer. It goes on sale for around 200 bucks all the time and literally being able to grill indoors in the winter, air fry wings, veggies and whatnot and have a flat cooking surface is pretty amazing. Better than firing up the oven all the time.
Awesome, did you buy it already? I love mines. You’re right it’s so much easier than heating up the traditional oven and plus it less things you have to clean. Thanks for watching
@@TheBrandonBrews Yes, I got it for 220 bucks on Amazon. I cooked steak 3 times, roasted veggies 3 times and did chicken wings twice. This thing is just great and I'm glad I got the larger size because you really need the space sometimes. It's nice for having space around the chicken for better cooking and crispness too. And you're absolutely right, it's very easy to clean. I mostly just use the grill and basket and all I do is pop it out and clean it and wipe down the top part. I took the screen out in the top and soaked it in soapy water last night. Probably a good thing to do every few cooks. Thanks again for the excellent review. Ninja's making some good stuff!
Excellent and informative video. Well explained for someone trying to decide which model to get. I’ve had the classic for years and it’s an amazing model. I basically use the grilling and air frying mostly so the classic works for me.
I started with the classic too and then ninja sucked me in with their infomercial for the xl pro and I had to have. Sold the classic to my cousin. Thank you so much for watching.
I am new to air fryers, and know very little to nothing about them. Your video is just what i needed. Great comparison, clear and helpful. Thank you very much and wishing you lots of subscribers and great content 🙌🏼 xx
I love my ZStar but now it won't go past 200 degrees. So I was looking to get a more USA name brand. I watched many videos but yours was the MOST helpful because no one else did the PRO. I like the griddle and the bottom heating element. I love my George Forman griller (I eat a lot of meat) , but grease runs out past the catcher onto the counter and it's difficult to clean. But it has a heating element on the top and bottom and items get a good sear on them and cook quickly. Now I have the best of both ideas. Thank you!
Very good, in depth comparison showing exactly what I needed to know. The information about how the grill plates work is not explained on any website it could find. Thank you for making this!
I agree, a deeper dish on the upgrades would be nice.I would like to know which would be compatible with spatchcocking a chicken roaster or even a half side of a turkey. Regardless, the reviews were well done and much appreciated.
Great video, I was really struggling to pick between the 3 options! Gonna grab a pro! Brilliant comparison - nice and straightforward and brilliant to see all 3 beside eachother! Thanks again!
The Ninja classic has a deeper bowl because the grill is level with the rim of the lid the other two has the grill set higher therefore the distance between the bottom of the bowl and the grill is the same on all three.
Since I got my xl pro a couple days ago, I now have experience with all of these too. While the open/closed griddle and bottom heating additions are AWESOME, I REALLY hate that the "mandatory" pan in the xl pro is a tilted grill instead of the traditional roasting pan which this actually doesn't have at all. The default roasting pan in both of their prior gen grills was so useful for a quick bake or reheat. A few of the other design choices are definitely irking me a bit too haha. They could have made the air fryer basket a smudge bigger so that it occupies more of the base space and the tilt/grease trap design is just a bit over aggressive but not deal breaking either. I would have preferred a little less tilt and a bit more grill surface but it does sear amazing. I feel like the 2nd gen definitely has the best design with great enough function out the box to not go wrong choosing if its significantly cheaper than than the pro.
Totally feel you. When I first got mines the tilt really messed me up. I think now I’ve gotten used to it and I now have the Speedi as well… so I usually air fry in the Speedi… thanks for watching
Excellent review. I picked up the classic at the thrift store for under $20. It’s replacing my current grill, air fryer and dehydrator. I may upgrade later but this is a great start.
Thank you very much for your review. I've been looking to finally get an indoor grill/air fryer to replace my trusty but time to replace George Foreman grill (I've had it for years!). On the strength of your review and another UA-camr that also reviewed this grill, I am going to buy one.
Gtreat video! I have the original and am trying to decide between the XL & XL Pro so your video is greatly appreciated!! Just for future references, it's TherMOMeter, not theROMeter 😉😊
Thank you for your in-depth review I think my choice would be the first one it has what seems to me the depth to accommodate a joint of meat or a whole chicken to roast you can also get a separate roasting rack whereas the other two although meant to be an improvement seem very shallow and unless you’re happy just cooking steak or other small pieces of meat do not seem very appealing to me. Also the splash guards on the last two while smaller just covering the element do not protect the rest of the inside of the lid. You also did not mention the cable length, I live in the U.K. so maybe there will be some differences. Overall I found it very helpful to see the 3 side by side, the second two dwarf the first one in size that’s another factor to consider.
First one I got the fan rattled so bad you couldn't hear yourself think. Took that one back to Walmart, second one the display went koo koo and took that one back and got a refund. Bought the Cosori which looks like the Ninja, but it works great. Calling Ninja was awful. Great video thank you for posting :)
And Cosori discontinued their aeroblaze grill almost as soon as they released it. And never even made the replacement filters required for it. I LOVED my Cosori aeroblaze but am disgusted with Cosori for not supporting the product even 3 months after I bought it. Fighting for a refund as I write this.
@@singsongcindy8865 That was maddening. We use it without the filter and it works fine. Periodically I take a wet paper towel with a drop of dawn and clean out the vent, which doesn't get that dirty. Amazon used to sell 2 pack filters but not anymore. Husband took apart the filter, and all it was is a square charcoal filter. Ripoff. Cosori customer service wasn't helpful at all.
Very comprehensive overview. Ok…so the splatter screen/guard is there mainly to protect the heating element, right? I'm looking at clean-up now. Unlike the Classic version, the screens on the XL and the XL Pro are relatively small. The way I see it they would require more frequent maintenance as the underside of the lid can get much dirtier, much quicker because of the large "unprotected" portion under there.
I usually clean mines right after each use. Let it cool down. I usually drop the screen in the washer. Once it’s cool to touch… grease or whatever debris is easy to wipe off and clean. Thank you so much for watching!
They pretty much both grill the same. The advantage is with the xl pro and bring able to cook and grill with the top up like a traditional grill because it has a heating element at the bottom.
@@TheBrandonBrews thank you very much for your reply. I bought the XL Pro with grill/girdle. Used it a couple times, and still have some experience to gain- but I can tell it’s going to be by far the best indoor electric grill I’ve ever owned. Thanks again for helping me make a solid decision. I was kinda hesitant to go with the XL Pro because it was $30 less than the XL, which is why I thought the XL might grill better. So I’m very happy with my purchase.
Great comparison? I have the original, first one. I didn’t like it at first, but I got to know it. Love steaks and chicken on the grill. Surprise……I’m a home bread baker and use this a lot in the summer to make my rolls, like dinner rolls, ciabatta, focaccia, Stromboli and pizza. I returned the latest pro. You gain a griddle, which I don’t need, and lose the deep pan for baking.
Have you ever tried to bake frozen pizza in the XL Pro?Is it well baked?Thank you for the amazinh video.I was.between the second and third ,but I decided to go with the third one now after your video.
Much appreciated. For the Pro it doesnt look like you can throw the grill piece into the dish washer. Am I right? Cause its got that heating element under it.
As 2 person house hold im very stuck between the classic ninja foodie and xl pro! I like the classic becz of the depth but i duno what else can i do on xl pro. That i wont be able to do on clasic one
Depends on what you want to cook. I got the xl pro because you can cook with the top up like a grill and you can cook hibachi style with the griddle… you can’t do those two things with the classic, but if you’ll never use those things then the classic might be the best choice. I personally like having options just in case you start experimenting with food and want to try something else, you can grow into the xl pro. Hope this helps.
Depending on what mode… With the lid close it will use both. When the lid is open it will only operate from the bottom I.E. the grill. You can use the grill closed/ open. When it’s closed it will cook from the convection fan as well.
So my main goal is cooking chicken quarters kind of entwined together in a yin yang setup. I have the original foodie 8 quart and it does a pretty good job there...but it's starting to have some issues after like 3 years and I'm looking to replace it. I'm guessing the grill (XL Pro) would work quite well, but the one thing I like about the foodi is the food splatter is at a minimum because it sits down so deep in the 8-quart pot. I would think the food splatter of the cooking service maybe 4" below the heating element would be a nightmare... but maybe I'm wrong?
I really haven’t had a problem with food splatter in the pro. The only thing I had to get used to was the grill plate being at a slant. If you’re not careful your food could slide down. So being careful where you place your food matters but after a few tries I became a pro at it.
Very Nice in depth review young man... Told me all I wanted to know about these three awesome little machines. I'm most impressed with the XL Pro because of the bottom heating element. Keep up the great reviews. ✌😁
Amazon is having a sale on the last one currently md I wondered why that would be cheaper than the second one in the video with the LED (no knob). Have you (or anyone else) had issues with the one you said was your favorite ? I think you called it the pro.
Hi there. I'm from the UK. Different model numbers for some reason but they are still the same ninjas. I did buy a really cheap air fryer grill but took that back as it was faulty but I really want the ninja ones. I don't really know out of the 3 which one to choose from. It's just the two of us so I want something for baking as well not just air frying. One of my customers has the ninja X pro 7 in one and I was really impressed with it. Does this save you in electric bills and does it air fryer quickly. Also can you roast a chicken or any kind of roast like pork, beef or lamb?
I would suggest the xl pro. It cooks everything efficiently so it will not be in use long. I say get that one so you’ll have options for how to use it. All of the ones in this video can bake, air fry, and grill. The xl pro can cook like an actual grill with the top open. Home this helps and thank you for watching
Long as you keep it clean, it won’t emit smoke. Make sure to clean all parts of the grill after each use and you’ll never have any smoke. Thanks for watching!
So we just gonna sit here and act like we ain’t hear em say “ther-rometer” and not “ther-mometer”? I’m ashamed of you all!! Y’all have let the UA-cam comment section down! **Great video btw, very informative and answered a lot of questions we had.
Honestly they all are good at grilling hamburgers. Xl pro let’s you grill with the top open because it’s the only one with a heating element at the bottom
You can but it will be a bit weird. The XL Pro has a griddle plate that lets you cook with the lid open. You cannot cook with the lid open on the other two grills.
Thanks for the great review. Helped me out a lot making a choice. You must have been a basketball player (or still are). Throwing stuff in the dishwasher... 😃
1:49 Thanks, gonna go for the original w the temp probe (AG400). These 3 are all the same price rn but baking ability is more appealing to me than being able to cook with the lid open on the newest one. ..might need a d3 die to decide now
@@TheBrandonBrews currently the error went away after I cleaned it in between the doors and I messed around unplugging for awhile and trying to turning different settings.
Cleaning is easy. It's best to clean it on the same day. Wait maybe an hour for it to cool down. It still will be warm, so everything will wash off easily. Thank you for watching
It would be a bit nerve wrecking because you can’t cook with the top up, so you would need to open and close the lid. I wouldn’t suggest it because eggs cook fast
I wish Ninja made appliances for singles living alone... everything is XL this.. I guess Americans must be having large families and huge counter top my counter top is only 120cm.. and it needs to fight space with blender, Nespresso, induction stove.. etc
I think it might be the play off with the name. I honestly don’t think the XL pro is too big for a single person. It’s actually the perfect size. What’s great about it is that it does a ton of things so it would replace your air fryer and griddle plate so it becomes almost the only thing you need on your counter
AG300C is smaller/simpler/cheapest of the grills, great for single living alone, or with occasional friend over... it still takes up space on the counter, but worth it. It should replace most if not all of your larger cooking items usually sitting on the coutertop (I dont even have a microwave...)

I really like the bottom heating grill on the PRO. I just got the XL. Now I want the PRO.
Glad you are enjoying it. The Pro is where it’s at!!!! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for watching
🫱🏻🫲🏼 I also use it for baking. The first Ninja is the most versatile.
Cleaning of the grill plate base with heating element must be hard because due to the element you can’t put it in the dishwasher
The grill plate is dish washer safe
Love this review! The xl pro is my favorite aside from the speedi
They both are my go to appliances! Thanks for watching
Do you have to hand wash the grill of the pro because it has a heating element below it?
No. It’s Dishwasher safe as well
Thanks for describing and showing all three models. I like the one with the grill so I can cook my favorite breakfast foods and learn to grill.
Good choice! It is my favorite because of the griddle plate. I use it at least 3 times a week. Thanks for watching.
Can you cook any dish in those deep pans? For example Enchiladas or a lasagna?
Yes you can.
I have the classic, but looking to get the XL. Not sure I like the Pro.
Brilliant presentation, the comparisons are excellent, thank you👏👍
Thank you so much & thank you for watching.
Have you ever tried to bake frozen pizza in the XL Pro?Is it well baked?Thank you for the amazinh video.I was.between the second and third ,but I decided to go with the third one now after your video.
I haven’t tried pizza frozen but reheated pizza. Thank you for watching
Much appreciated. For the Pro it doesnt look like you can throw the grill piece into the dish washer. Am I right? Cause its got that heating element under it.
Yes, it is also dishwasher safe
As 2 person house hold im very stuck between the classic ninja foodie and xl pro! I like the classic becz of the depth but i duno what else can i do on xl pro. That i wont be able to do on clasic one
Depends on what you want to cook. I got the xl pro because you can cook with the top up like a grill and you can cook hibachi style with the griddle… you can’t do those two things with the classic, but if you’ll never use those things then the classic might be the best choice. I personally like having options just in case you start experimenting with food and want to try something else, you can grow into the xl pro. Hope this helps.
I am assume the XL Pro only use either top or bottom element and not both. Otherwise, it will trip the circuit breaker. Is that correct?
Depending on what mode… With the lid close it will use both. When the lid is open it will only operate from the bottom I.E. the grill. You can use the grill closed/ open. When it’s closed it will cook from the convection fan as well.
Are they all supposed to be smokeless when cooking steak?
Yes, but sometimes you will get grease build up, you can get some type of smoke while cooking but it is very minimum.
Great review! Very helpful! I just ordered the XL. Can't wait to use it
Thanks you, you’re going to love it
I do wonder where the grease goes when you use the griddle🤔
When using the griddle you will need grease, butter or oil… the griddle is like cooking hibachi
Im interested in the last one (pro) but I like to bake just worried its not deep enough for lasagne or other dishes what do you think?
The first generation has the deepest area for baking but you still can bake in the xl pro
What is the difference between Ninja Max Foodie and Ninja Dual Zone? Which one is better for home use?
Unfortunately I’m not sure the clear differences because I don’t own any of them
So my main goal is cooking chicken quarters kind of entwined together in a yin yang setup.
Thank you so much, and thank you for watching
Amazon is having a sale on the last one currently md I wondered why that would be cheaper than the second one in the video with the LED (no knob). Have you (or anyone else) had issues with the one you said was your favorite ? I think you called it the pro.
Beside being informational and legit, your voice is soothering after a goodnight spliff
😎👍🏾
This was such a helpful comparison! Thanks!
Thank you so much for watching
Informative video. You did an excellent job comparing all three Ninja Grills.💕💕
Thank you for watching
Thank you so much for the video. One question does the XL emit too much smoke when in use?
Long as you keep it clean, it won’t emit smoke. Make sure to clean all parts of the grill after each use and you’ll never have any smoke. Thanks for watching!
So we just gonna sit here and act like we ain’t hear em say “ther-rometer” and not “ther-mometer”? I’m ashamed of you all!! Y’all have let the UA-cam comment section down!
**Great video btw, very informative and answered a lot of questions we had.
You must haven’t looked hard enough they are there. lol Thanks for watching
@@TheBrandonBrews wow you responded fast! My wife just gifted me the xl pro for Father’s Day and we are up late watching reviews. Thank you again lol
@@viKingOne Happy Father’s Day bro. I gifted my dad the same one last year. He loves it. I use mines almost everyday. You’re gonna love it.
Super helpful. Thanks for the hard work!
Thank you so much and thank you sir watching
Which is yhey best one for dehydration?
For dehydration all of these pretty much work the same.
Which is best for grilling hamburgers?
Honestly they all are good at grilling hamburgers. Xl pro let’s you grill with the top open because it’s the only one with a heating element at the bottom
Can you use them without the greese cover?
Yes but I wouldn’t suggest it.
Are you not able to cook eggs or vegetables in the classic and xl?
You can but it will be a bit weird. The XL Pro has a griddle plate that lets you cook with the lid open. You cannot cook with the lid open on the other two grills.
Thanks for the great review. Helped me out a lot making a choice.
You must have been a basketball player (or still are). Throwing stuff in the dishwasher... 😃
LOL naw never played... just on the street in a neighborhood. Glad I could help. Thanks for watching
Thanks brother, I was looking for a quick comparison between the middle one I have and the one on the right. Peace
Glad I could help. Thanks for watching
Thank you, very informational I am going to check the Ninja XL Pro
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching
1:49 Thanks, gonna go for the original w the temp probe (AG400).
These 3 are all the same price rn but baking ability is more appealing to me than being able to cook with the lid open on the newest one.
..might need a d3 die to decide now
Yeah it gets complicated because it’s almost just one thing over another to choose between models! Thank you for watching
@@TheBrandonBrews went for the one you prefer with the heating on top n bottom lol
Thank you for the review. Appreciate it.
Glad I could help. Thanks for watching.
I have an error message shut lid message/ add food message can't clear any advice?
What happens when you shut the lid… is the grill in place… also did you pre heat?
@@TheBrandonBrews currently the error went away after I cleaned it in between the doors and I messed around unplugging for awhile and trying to turning different settings.
Finally a video that really explains the differences between the ninjas indoor grill, I really appreciate it now I know for sure each one I want
Glad I could help. Thanks so much for watching.
Hi John here bought for me and my wife ninja XL pro excited to do wings etc in it fantastic machine
Awesome! You won’t regret it
Great review!!💖 Thank you👏🤗👍
Thank you for watching
How is it with cleaning? Is it worth it?
Cleaning is easy. It's best to clean it on the same day. Wait maybe an hour for it to cool down. It still will be warm, so everything will wash off easily. Thank you for watching
Can I bake a pie in the classic? Thanks for the review.
Yes you can. I’m not quite sure of the measurements for a pan but I’ve seen it done on UA-cam
Excellent review. What's the height of these units when the lid is open?
It’s about a foot 12 inches
@@TheBrandonBrews That's what she said.
BUT... it does not do stews or bake?
A brilliant review. Thank you.
You can bake in the XL pro. Last night I did cinnamon rolls
This was helpful, thank you sir
Glad I could help. Thanks for watching!
Great review. I think I'm going to go with the XL.
Did you choose to go with it? Also, thanks for watching
Very good review. Like the foodi xl pro. Looks very versatile.
Thank you for watching!
Can we cook egg and bacon on the xl classic ?
It would be a bit nerve wrecking because you can’t cook with the top up, so you would need to open and close the lid. I wouldn’t suggest it because eggs cook fast
@@TheBrandonBrews ok thanks you sir. And for the XL PRO, does the grill go in the dishwater ? Because there is a resistor behind
@@lldavid4816 yes, the grill is dish washer safe
Brilliant reviews. Thank you.
Thank you for watching!
yest cook some beef ribs today
using the midle one works great😎
Beef ribs sounds amazing right now 😋
Brilliant and helpful video. Stay blessed ⭐💯
Thank you! Glad it was helpful. Thank you for watching!
Thank you for making this video.
You’re welcome & thank you for watching
What are the different model numbers?
The left one is ag301 middle is ag551.
Nice review!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
Very helpful review! 😊
Thank you! Glad I could help. Thank you for watching!
I wish Ninja made appliances for singles living alone... everything is XL this.. I guess Americans must be having large families and huge counter top
my counter top is only 120cm.. and it needs to fight space with blender, Nespresso, induction stove..
I'm torn between the original & the XL Pro the last one.
I would suggest the xl pro. You get to cook with the lid up and it comes with the griddle plate. thanks for watching
