What about the flip oven?
Thank you
You are awesome 🎉 Thank you sooo much for demonstrating cleaning, I’ve had a hell of a time trying to keep hood clean the way Ninja says😞 I’m so glad you showed me what I’ve been thinking would work but I’ve been too afraid to try in fear of damage. Love your down to earth style ❤ can’t wait to watch you cook 😋 you mentioned you use air fryer mode after cleaning but not if you add a bowl of water, can you explain better? Thanks again for amazing helpful video
I own 5 foodies in & clean em all the same way. I fill the roasting pans while in the foodie, with h20 and vinegar or lemon juice.....or even Dawn at times. Then I turn the foodie on the highest temp...roast or bake and let it run for about 10-15 minutes. The steam loosens up the grime and allows you to just wipe the crud away. I follow that up by using plain water to steam as to "rinse" away any vinegar/Dawn I used. I use oven cleaner for the mesh plate.
Thanks again. Good stuff right there. Cheers
That makes alot of sense. I use to clean microwaves that way. Put a soapy towel in the microwave for a couple of minutes then wipe it clean. I might actually use this tip tonight.
Does it hurt the air fryer fan?
How much water?
@@reverie_song nope
I have this grill for more than 2 years, and still have not used it. Because of cleaning. This gave me the courage to open it up and put it to good use. Thank you.
Awesome!
My boss used his just about every day for several years and just got a new one with the pellets. He gave me his old one and I had to clean the shit out of it for probably 6 hours over two days using dawn, Lysol wipes and alcohol and 50 kilos of elbow grease, really wish I’d have watched this video, but maintaining it now will be super easy now that I know. I appreciate the time you took to make and explain this video man!
Thanks! I hate cleaning these things.
You're awesome. I just spent 2 hours searching for a cleaning method and gave up and just like that, this video popped up. Thanks!!
Look up Carbon-Off.
Thank you!!
I have been looking for a video on how to do this for a while, it’s a great unit but I bothers me that not even the Ninja team shows you how to clean it, this is great brother thank you so much, you enriched my life.
Videographers feedback, don’t use devolves when you cutting from one talking head to another in the same location and composition, just leave it as a simple cut no transitions. Other than that your intro was nice and the video was great the angle for the cleaning was great and I can feel how difficult that could have been to pull off. Thank you brother
Thank you for this video my friend! you are the best! I clean the filter like this: i put half of glass of vinegar with 2 spoons of baking soda in 2 litres of water, then I boil the filter there for 30 minutes, then I scrub the filter with a sponge, I clear it with water and it looks like New! because you have more than one air fryers, I think you can do that with all the filters in a time! maybe you save time with this Tip my friend! Thank you for your other tips as well, I would try them.. God Bless You!
Thank you!! Appreciate you sharing your tips.
Thank you so much! There's plenty of information on how to clean the stuff that you can throw in the dishwasher but not the inside of the grill itself so this was really helpful.
Thank you!!
Agreed! 👏👏
My son turned me on to Dawn power wash that is awesome. It works great on my screen.
Right on!
Your video is an extreme example of how to clean this grill. I clean mine after every use to avoid the level of work you demonstrated. Thanks for the effort and tips.
Yes, he disclosed that he intentionally did not clean it in order to film it. And everyone does not clean it everytime as recommended. So that is good information.
Thank you!!
This was just the video i was looking for, thank you for posting this!! I will try this too. Great video!!
Thank you!!
I'll send u my grill to clean😂. Thanks for sharing!
😂😂😂
The way I cleaned the filter screen was to run hot water over it, pour some dawn dish soap on it and let it sit a few minutes. I got the scrubber sponge and scrubbed until clean. Rinsed it well with hot water and let it air dry.
How do you get it off?
The one I have you have to pinch the sides and it pops off.
Hey, CJ
Thanks for this cleaning video. I actually did remove the fan shield to clean. I used the oven cleaner and a mr clean magic eraser sponge and my It all worked so well. I'm gonna get that 'bar keeper's friend' to try. Word of caution, that fan blade is razor blade sharp. Thanks again for your videos👍
Hey thanks for the tip. Have a good one
You want to come remove my fan shield, I'm worried to touch the electronics!
I use cut-resistant work gloves when cleaning mine ($10 on Temu).
Awesome video CJ! Great cleaning tips. I usually clean mine after each use but thanks for sharing your cleaning method! (Try soaking the mesh cover in white vinegar, works pretty well.) cheers buddy!
Right on! Thanks brother!
Thank you so much just bought the Ninja Foodi grill & griddle it was driving me crazy that I could not get it as clean as I liked. I definitely will try this and show you my results.
Awesome!
I boil my screen cover in a large pan. Let it boil for a while. Then take it out while it’s still hot and use a stiff brush. It look’s almost new when I’m done with little effort
Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks.
I love this guy ; He is so cool and amazing, love his sense of humor!!!
Thank you!!
I found that Dawn platinum ultra power wash works really well too.
Thanks for sharing.
I used the easy off for mine but I also started using my steam cleaner, it does a great job at cleaning everything and getting to some parts that you just can't reach!
Right on. I hear a lot of people use steam on it.
What steam cleaner, please? Thanks
If steam works, could you possibly fill the bottom about half full of water and set it for a certain amount of time and let it steam it internally?
I know this will sound completely ridiculous but I assure that it works.
For cleaning the metal guard, I use hot water, dish soap and........ a dryer sheet. Put the soap in the bottom pan with a dryer sheet and the metal cover on top. Cover with hot water and let soak for a couple hours. Will rinse off sparkling clean.
Always down for the ridiculous! Thanks for the tip!
For "metal guard" do you mean the mesh part?
@@LaneyaWiles Yes. The part of the top lid.
Lol love the disclaimer at the beginning saying this is how you do it and don’t come at you 😂
😂😂
Easy Off spray is amazing when using to clean a lot of caked in grease. I dread cleaning mine, but this was a good reminder lol
Thank you!!
Its a great machine but the cleaning of the inside top lid is a serious design flaw from ninja. The official manual and videos are a waste of space. Thanks for posting a proper solution
❤️❤️❤️❤️epic video, on point in covering details I needed. THANK YOU BIG TIME. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You’re welcome! Glad it was helpful!
Will try this method for cleaning the inside! I usually throw the heat guard in the dishwasher after every use and it stays clean after every use.
Right on!
I have a friend who stays diligent about washing after every use and I was surprised on how shiny her heat guard still is.
Mine is arriving in a few days. Glad I chanced upon this. I will clean after each use. Sounds the easiest. Thank you!
Definitely. Thank you!!
Hope you are loving it and it's still sparkling.
The easy off works great, I just buy the cheap Dollar store brand works as well, instead of plain hot water, I use a bowl of water with a little White Vinegar, a little dawn & tbsp lemon juice, which is what I use to place in my microwave and cleans it perfect, I just do the microwave then take that hot steaming bowl of cleaner over to my Ninja, Dip in my Dollar store brand magic eraser and it's a flawless perfect clean everytime. The dollar store brand Magic Eraser works much better than Mr. Clean brand.
Thanks for sharing!
Is it fume free?
Girl that’s too many steps…shit..I need one product
What about the fan part behind the heat ring???
Clean filter in pot with enough water to cover filter add 1half cup vinegar 1 half cup baking soda boil 20 to 30 minutes.
You should try the Dobie pad. Game changer! Thanks so much for your video!
I boil my shield in vinegar and baking soda for about 20 minutes Going to try the easy off to see which I like better. Thanks for the tip!
Thank you!
I’m trying the vinegar and baking soda. If not, I’ll get the easy off oven cleaner.
@@Rob_430 use 1 cup of vinegar and 1 cup of baking soda. Make sure the water is boiling then add the vinegar and slowly add the baking soda. The water will bubble up. Check it after about 20 to 30 minutes.
Great video, thanks! 1. How do you "rinse" the Bar Keeper's Friend off? 2. Is there a way to PREVENT the greasy mess inside the lid? It's NOT the removable grease cover, but the ring around the grease cover with the screws, etc. as well as the inside of the actual lid that gets grungy?? I clean regularly, still messy! TY!
Thanks! Use a warm wet wash cloth to “rinse it”. And not really, the grease is gonna fly. Sorry
How do u take of the grill mesh on my ninja foodi lid
Thank you!! I've been wanting to ask you about this for so long. I'm going to try this after my cleaners get here. Appreciate it!!
You’re welcome!
keep the Easy Off Oven Cleaner saran wrapped on the mesh overnight. less scrubbing and it comes off like butter!
I made the error of unscrewing all the parts thinking better easy cleaning and now I am having trouble getting some of the pieces to slide into the spots with one remaining clip not “over” the part. Did anyone else take theirs apart and successfully put all the pieces back. Great great cleaning video. Wish I saw this before I unscrewed all the parts
Can you do a video showing how to unscrew...its really hard to clean attached.
I appreciate you making this video. Helped me out a lot!
Thank you!!
Thanks, this was helpful. Cleaning the mesh piece of my Ninja has been on my to-do list for a while.
Thank you!!
Don't put it off...my caught fire last night. Can't live without a grill anymore, hence me being here and looking for cleaning ideas for my new one.
Loved the video, so chill and relaxed!! Very thorough, especially considering what a pain these units can be to clean 😭.... just subscribed btw 👍🏾
Awesome! Thank you!!
Thanks, sweetie. I've just joined the Ninja world & need to see how the cleaning was done. Cheers from England xxx
Thank you!!
Thank you so much for ALL of your videos, but I needed THIS one in particular!! :-)
You are so welcome!
Grease softens with heat. I suggest using hot water and even a blow dryer to soften the grease and then using the Easy Off spray.
Thank you!
where did you get the guard for the oil trap?
I don’t know how to get the top mesh filter off to wash. Sharp metal edges and on tight. I have the XL. I wash my reg air fryer every use, my other ninja appliances each time. I just got this ninja foodie grill XL and I need to clean it every use also. Hope you can help me. It’s diff looking up there than your reg ninja grill.
Love your videos man. I'm limited to the air fryer right now but can't wait to get one of those pro outdoor grills you use!
Thank you!!
Ninja foodi grill been the best investment I ever did. I got the xl. I cook everything in it. Even Cooke's Frozen pizza in it. Have to cut it in half but comes out crispy and my kids love it. 4 years going strong.
We love a clean cooking surface!!!! Good work young man!!👏🏻💪🏻❤️🔥
Thanks Miss Gina!❤️
Hi guys,
The biggest problem cleaning this thing is access. It’s just really awkward to get at.
So I periodically tilt it over weight mostly on its top (resting on a oven glove) take off the four screws (takes a minute) then take the individual parts and clean them, much easier (do it whatever way you feel works best for you).
Of course the key is to clean it every time you use it and keep on top of it however every once and a while take it a part and do a ‘deep’ clean. I bring mine up like new when I do it this way.
Hope this helps. K
Would the mesh screen do OK in the dishwasher?
Honestly I do not know. I’d hate to say either way.
@@CookingWithCJ thanks for your response👍🏼👋🏼👍🏼
I got stuff in between the grease shield how do I get it out
The only way is to unscrew it, but I don’t recommend that.
Nice job. That’s satisfying!
Thank you!!
im a vinegar guy used it for a long time on lots hard grease areas
Right on
I think this is a newer model than I have (foodie grill xl 6-1) because I think they added the heat shield to prevent the build-up my unit has. Lucky duck you are.
Thank you
THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH 😇🙏🏽👏🏽👍🏾
♥️
Do you rinse somehow after bar keepers friend?
Wipe it off with a wet rag.
I was wondering what to use on the lid of my new Ninja XL Pro. Thank you.
Thank you!!
I use SOS Pads and they work great.
Thanks for the tip
CJ I’ve got the old ninja foodie with the 2 lids. I can’t get behind the grill there is no easy way to clean it. It drives me nuts!!!
Yeah they’re a challenge to clean for sure
Do you detach the lid somehow to clean it?
Nope, just gotta maneuver it to get in there to clean it.
Can I unscrew that whole top part (the part covering the fan area) and toss it in the dishwasher? Or will that ruin it?
I tend not to want to unscrew parts. And I’m not sure about the dishwasher.
Can I use Easy Off on the grill plate? There is grease that sticks to the plate and doesn’t come off with regular cleaning.
I don’t think so, might be a bit harsh for the non stick coating.
Perfect. I was kinda thinking it was not a good idea…will need to figure out something else…cheers!
Fan mesh shield... did it come with your Ninji woodfire grill?
Yes it dod
The ninja XL it's difficult for me to clean in the lid upper especially the exhaust fan .
I agree
Why not put water in a ss bowl and set the oven high enough to steam? I have an Anovaa oven, and they get gummy on the inside. A few minutes of steam, and it all wipes out with a paper towel. Also, a hand-held small-nozzle steamer will work too. 😅
Great Video, all your videos are excellent and fun to watch.
My question is for the Ninja Foodi Smart XL Grill FG550, do all of the parts go back into the grill for easy storage? I have a small kitchen; and can’t seem to get them into the main unit
I know they do in the Foodi grill and grill, not sure on the smart XL. Thanks
How do you get the screen protector off?
There are little tabs that you push and it comes off.
Mine didn’t have a screen over the element where can I find one 😢
I'd check with Ninja on that one.
That looks super nice! I wish that it made it easier to clean behind the fan easily and places that are super hard to reach
I'm with you for sure.
Let me add to all new whom bought this..It is The Best !!! But....Not cleaning proper after use...Is me being lazy for...3 cooks now.
I am cleaning all and, will never abuse again what has given me so much good!!! Cleaning after use...makes all good !!!
Is that something like Soft Scrub/?
Thanks for this. Why not just use Easy Off for the whole job?
It’s pretty harsh for the inside metal. The bar keepers friend works better
@@CookingWithCJ Thanks for the response. Bar Keepers Friend it is!
On the foodie grill xl pro, the bottom plate has the heating element connectors. Do you put that in the dishwasher? I thought that would cause an issue.
Yes you can. I had wash mine, but according to Ninja, you can put it in the dishwasher.
Excellent video!!👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you!!
Thank you for this! I just bought my ninja foodi xl pro grill & griddle a couple days ago. Cooked hamburgers on the grill, sticky bbq chicken on the grill, and jalapeño cheddar peppers on the griddle so far. I’m in love with this unit. I was worried how I was gonna keep it clean as my ninja air fryers are a PITA to clean in all the nooks but these products you suggested will work perfectly. 😊
They are a pain for sure! Thank you!!
Thanks for the cleaning help CJ !
You are welcome!
Hello there. I know that you're not the all knowing Ninja expert. But your tips are actually the best I've come across so far.
My q: have you ever encountered trouble with the lid sensor?
I cleaned my grill like you demonstrated and it started working again. Now after much use,( it's clean, as far as what is visible), the sensor for the lid isn't working. When I close the lid, I don't hear the "click".
Wondering if you had any guesses about what might be interfering with the sensor process.
Thank you! But sorry I don’t know really what would be causing sensor issues. Sorry no help on that one.
@@CookingWithCJ thanks for responding either way :-)
@@CookingWithCJ Hi CJ I found the answer and wanted to share it in case it's ever useful to you or your viewers.
The lid sensor is in or near the right hinge. If grease gets in there (which happens a lot for me, even with the awesome way that I learned to clean my grill, From YOu!), it will cause the grill to be unable to sense that lid is closed. Moral of the story, cover/clean that area as much as possible. Use a good degreaser if grease manages to get in their anyway.
Steam cleaner works great on the grill oven and pressure cooker
Thanks for the tip
What do you think about using a Simple Green like product
I haven’t tried it, but start with a small spot and see how it does.
Can I do the same with my outdoor ninja woodfire grill?
Yes I think so. You could probably find a BBQ degreaser too.
@@CookingWithCJ thanks so much!
A melamine sponge works really well too. I use one to clean the lid once or twice a week.
Thanks for the tip!
those are also the only things I've found that really cleans that dirty ring that forms in a bathtub, they will clean most anything, I found that the Dollar store brand actually works better than the Mr. Clean brand at our local stores.
Yup! GW! Subbed! Just now using nice!
Thank you!
CJ, is it difficult to remove that plate that's under the spatter screen? If not can you show how to remove it. I notice ours is starting to get a bit of a build up under there and no way to get at it. We use the grill daily, always have the spatter screen on, so not sure why it's getting dirty under there but it is.
I don’t really try to take that part off. I just do my best to get it clean as best as I can.
Great video, I’ll give Easy Off and maybe vinegar a try. Living on a septic system makes it important to watch what goes down the drain. Do any of you find it difficult to grill indoors due to Ninja smoke output? I’m forced to go outside to grill. Thanks
Nah don’t have issues with smoke.
Do you know where the lid sensor is and if it can be cleaned? I have my Foodie DG 551 less than a month. Tonight I used the thermometer probe and a setting for steak. After preheating I added the steak, shut the lid, and got the Get Food/Done message. Tried shutting it off and unplugging and starting over, still got it. I then removed the thermometer and switched to manual and it began to cook. I'm thinking the sensor could be dirty? Thanks.
I’m sorry I don’t, I’ll try to look for it next time I use it.
@@CookingWithCJ Thank you! And thanks for your content!
Hi CJ , Have you done a video on how to clean the Ninja wood fire grill top, thanks I find your videos very helpful and informative
Thank you. Yes I did, search Woodfire cleaning video. Or go to my Woodfire grill playlist.
@@CookingWithCJ thanks found it 👍
Thank you so much it was a lot of help
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much. Do you do this after every use?
No not every time. But more often than not. The more times you cook without cleaning it, the harder it is to clean.
Great video thanks for sharing. I love my grill .
Thank you!!
Thanks CJ. This exactly what I needed.!!!
Sparkling clean✨👍
Yes!
Cj where do you find the element cover
Not sure if you can buy them separately from Ninja. I would start there.
Thanks so much for the cleaning video, CJ!
Thank you!
To do this I use Brillo Pads. Much better then a scrubby Pad.
Right on
Enjoyed this video CJ! Recently purchased a Ninja Woodfire Grill, do you recommend this same cleaning process as this one?
I would try it and maybe get a bbq degreaser.
Question ✋️ have you had an issue where your Ninja 5 in 1 stays on the preheating Add food and fan full blast on? My fan won't slow to add the food in and then when I close lid it keeps saying Add Food. This started out of nowhere. Ever happen to you or come across the issue and could be an easy fix?
Hi there, no that hasn’t happened for me. Might need to call Ninja on that one.
From where did you get this mesh cover?
It comes with the unit
Thank you CJ! I love your videos!
Thank you!!
Question: I started with a stronger sponge and got some scratches. Will that affect its performance?
I can’t imagine it would. But I don’t know for sure.
I use all these also but I have the ninja foodi grill xl. It’s so hard to get under the heating element. If you have any ideas on that I would really appreciate it
Sorry, I actually gave my XL to family, so I don’t have it to try to figure how to get under there.
I gave up on my ninja foodi xl with temperature grill. From day one when I cleaned it the Ninja Foodi the inside started to rust and the inside was awful! I am known for being a very clean person therefore I was very upset because I purchased it from Ninja Foodi web site. I have a lot of their products including two three in one systems. One that has never been used. The original Ninja Foodi pressure cooker with every accessory out there! Even purchased extra pots and seals. However, I DO NOT recommend the Ninja Foodi XL grill with the temperature, EXTREMELY bad choice!
@@remajosbrown5057 are you referring to the 14 in 1 XL air fryer combo?
