Is your ninja measuring temperature at Fahrenheit or as I watched a video my end showing how ribs was made but he had his ninja at like 310 I can't even get mine past 210 even on same setting
Thank you! I just purchased one, and I'm the definition of BEGINNER! *I've been feeling a little intimidated!* This really helped! Looking forward to watching your other videos! _________
Racheal, thank you so much for explaining how to use the foodi. I have watch so many how to's and you're the only one that touched on things that are helpful and really important. I hit the bell and will be subscribing to your channel. Thanks.
as a meal prep guy.. ive been making chicken breasts for years throughout the day on skillet, griddle, grill, you name it, i used it.. from over cooking to under cooking.. this thing has made it effortless and chicken is perfect everytime..
Rachel. I enjoyed your video - very helpful. I am having a problem because when I put the thermometer into the jack, the preset/manual light doesn't come on. Am I doing something wrong?
Good video.. very informative.. I like to check.. you only insert the temp probe and take a reading of the meats but you don't leave the probe while the meats are cooking right? Because the back portion is rubber, I don't think it can withstand the continuous exposure to the heat.
Mine didn't come with any instructions nor the cookbook advertised on the box. I have spent to much time online trying to find the instruction booklet to clean. Decided to check on UA-cam. Found you. Thank you so much!!!
Hi Rachel, great tips! Please I just got my Ninja Foodi and on my second use forgot to put the splatter guard on. Please could you suggest a way to clean the coil? And is this detrimental to my next use? Thanks.
Thank you so much fort his video. I've had my grill for two years and used it only once because of the preheat. Love that you are so articulate and concise... no twenty minute wait for five minutes of information. THANK YOU!
Does this machine come with a way to cook manual, because many times the thermometer fails the meat doesn't cook well. It says it's done but it still needs cooking. I have the smart grill regular size not the XL
There are electrical/heating contacts on the bottom/back of the grill pan (the little square panel) so at the very least the foil or parchment should be cut on that square to allow the lower heating element to operate properly. Of course if you are using the unit in any other mode besides grill or griddle, then the upper heating element is the only one in operation. If you mean to protect the lower griddle tray while using bake, dehydrate, air fry, etc., then I guess it doesn't matter if the contacts are covered up.
Great review!! I just bought the smaller version of the Ninja Foodi and am so pleased ! Thanks for explaining the Pre-heat bypass info especially. So much appreciated!!
me 2, BUT also bought the 10q XL double basket Ninja air fryer over memorial week-end from Costco for ONLY $140, GREAT price & lovin it basically dose the same thing this dose
Thank you for your valuable tips... Instead of oil I use home-made Ghee that also has a high smoke point... but it is made from butter and has a nutty delicious taste... It is easy to make and keeps up to 50 years. I never use commercial Ghee that has additives and tastes awful...
Bought this off my mome this week for the Peterbilt truck. Tested the power and tested eggs on it it's amazing. Eggs Tasted Great I can make omelets on the go and cook steak etc now again. Things worth gettin!
Good tip on putting the temp probe in the smaller / thinner cut of meat first and then if necessary into the thicker item to finish cooking it. I have seen advice to put it into the thickest first but I fear that means my meat will overcook for my tastes.
Question - I got my Foodi today, tried the airfryer, seemed OK. Later grilled 2 steaks. It said 'take food' so I took the food out. There was something about resting the food? I ignored all that and pressed the power button to turn it off. It said OFF and everything went dark. But 3 hours later I noticed it was still very hot?? Not so hot I could not touch it, but nearly so, like it was trying to keep food hot or something? Did I goof or is the machine faulty?
I run mine at 165° on dehydrate. Start checking at 45 minutes then every 30 minutes for pieces that get done first. I do flip mine as they start to crisp up. Easy peasy and right at 3 hours vs 6 or 7.
@@typeonegative24314 Awesome. Steaks are great in it. I use the bottom of the roasting pan for my first layer then add the air fryer on top and add my second layer in that one. Does just fine and no extra rack needed.
Every cook function has a max temperature setting so if you hit air fry or grill they each have a max temperature you can't go above it. Read the manual
Do you recommend ninja foodi op300 with pressure cook? Do they grill in the same way? What are the main differences? What can't you do in foodi that you can do with the grill machine?
the pre-heat thing is cool my fryer is a little different it doesnt have that preheat message but if I just push which ever button like airfry again it goes to add food thats a great tip also I dont think preheating is needed unless your backing something ;)
Okay I figured out why the presets buttons were not working and I won't claim operator error because the users manual doesn't mention that the LID MUST BE UP while choosing the presets at least my unit does.
Can you cook a ham on that Ninja Foodi? My question would be the height inside the Ninja. Example: the height of a turkey, or ham. Those two meats mentioned are about 6 to 8 inches high while laying down on it's back. I hope you understand what I am saying?
Hi I know it has Been a year you posted this but what have seen on other comparison videos and seeing them at store. Is this model fg551 has larger surface area. So great for cooking steaks, pork chops, ribs, chicken breast, drumsticks, wings... You can cook bigger stuff as long as not too big. The smaller model ag301 is smaller surface but is deeper so probably easier for full chickens, turkey, ham and large roasts. For me I think I'm going to get this model because I don't cook much large meals being living alone.

I've used one before with outdoor propane BBQ.
Yes, insert the thermometer all the way into the meat and then place the meat in the grill and cloae the hood all the way down; you will not damage the cord. It may take cooking a few different times with didferent "doneness" settings before you find your favorite, but the settings are pretty accurate to the finished product. If you have a slice of meat that is a bit thicker at one end than the other, try to get the tip of the probe in the middle of the two ends.
Just keep trying if you should mess up. U tend to give up rather than keep trying. This is absolutely my favorite way to cook now and my husband loves it too so he cooks a lot now!!!
You put it in a pot with water and boil for 3 to 5 mins. No grill needed for that. Then pour out water and run in very cold water and let is sit for a minute then peel.
I notice most recipes use dry rub for steaks! I prefer to use a marinade like teriyaki with pineapple juice. Or is this type of marinade create smoking issue?
I only use avocado oil, that's if I even use oil at all, and it still smokes pretty bad. It's my only complaint but it's a big one. I'm tired of my entire house smelling like smoke, not to mention my hair and whatever clothes im wearing at the time. 😕

If you line the tray with foil, you eliminate the whole efficient way the Ninja Grill cooks...with air flow, not a good idea. This grill was made to be easily cleaned, foil is an unnecessary tip.
Hi Rebecca, lining the base pan with aluminum foil wouldn't affect the air flow as the heating element/fan is on the top of the unit. The air circulates with the fan. If you lined the air fryer basket this would be correct, however lining the base pan will maintain the air flow. Hope this helps.

Hi , can a wax paper be used as well??? Thanks!
No, don’t use wax paper in your grill or regular oven. The wax will melt and may catch fire.
Thank you but also looking for dehydrating as well. Any suggestions?

Also my current go to device. Good tip on the pre-heat switch off. I did not realize I could do that.
I tried the foil trick but noticed the air doesn't circulate as well with the foil blocking it.
how do you dismantle to clean? not just the removable parts, the whole rest of the machine?
I'd like to know as well please 😊

EVOO is a staple of mine. So if I keep my heat under 400, can I still use it?
My Son brought me the grill for Mother's Day I can't wait to use it.... watching videos on UA-cam to help me out, this weekend it's on!

Can you tell me if you're supposed to add cooking oil before or after preheating? I keep getting black stains and the smoke alarm goes off.

Omgosh I just found your channel! I’ve had this for a year. Thank you so much for the foil and parchment paper tip! 😭
Heya I would be interested in seeing some beef jerky made and banana chips in the dehydrater function. Keep up the good work

Has someone been able to find a dehydrator rack for AG551 anywhere or has used a DIY solution ?
Someone in this thread said that he used the bottom of the cook pan and then a second layer in the crisper pan.
Thanks for the tips. I asked for one for my upcoming birthday.

Can u use waxed papers that u can use in a speed oven??
Excellent video/info!!!
Thx.
I just ordered one of these.
Can't wait!!
Where would I get the parchment paper?
Thank you! Just got mine!
We did not get a temperature probe where do we purchase it?
If you have the regular ninja grill it doesn’t have the probe . If you have the XL or XL Pro it has the probe on the side of the grill.

To get the best crust make sure it is as dry as possible
