I hope the next edition brings a new wave of subscribers to you guys. You have made an excellent channel that has really spurred my interest in this game.
Looking forward to hearing all the new musical interludes and pleased you’re now on the advanced release review list too. You’ve totally earned your place.

I like that you guys touch on the "but it takes skill!" argument too - I see this a lot in a lot of game communities. Not all skills are good to reward/not doing so doesn't make it a "baby game" - it can make it less dynamic or push those skills away from places that would make the game more focused on displaying other skills. Matching "enjoyment" and "skill" is good
I adore the new obscuring rules because it both makes shooting more fluid, survivability more real as an option, but also makes the big flat damage weapons like rocket launchers have a place on the tabletop more than they used to. I love running some Tzeentch rocket launchers for the auto confirm crits and hits, but is often the worse equipment option in the Grand scheme of things
I so appreciate your guys attitude. You're right, very few KT channels aren't the very best competitive players, which are great in terms of expertise, but definitely view the game in a certain way and value particular things. Keep it up 👍🏻
One thing I've seen popping up is the inclusion of Kill team in a Narrative driven 40K "campaign" would love to see you guys if could get involved in one of those events and show how the gameplay in Kill team drives the narrative and flavor of narrative regular 40K games.
I'm so glad the brainload is being decreased. Of the four people I play with, none will play if we do equipment, tac ops, any missions other than capture, engage and conceal orders, or injury, because it was just too much to keep track of.
That’s basically impossible tbh. The internet just prints their shit right away there’s no way they could stop that. If anything it’s just to ride on the coattails that everything is already free at this point
worst comes to worst, everyone can go to their favorite russian rules site :) I know ive become an AoS player and have just experienced the "my rules are now paywalled" so now im stuck checking warscrolls via battletome review videos XD

Love your channel guys. I'm glad you're hyped for the new edition. I'm looking forward to seeing your games and I'm disproportionately happy flamers aren't always terrible now
Great video, great points. I thought the bullet point cards stretched out for a few seconds longer than needed. Looking forward to this edition! I really like your point about classified showing that GW wants to keep supporting this game for a decade or more.
I really wish you guys would do painting tutorials for your terrain. Especially the into the dark stuff. all your terrain looks really good but also like it didnt take very long to get done. Teach me this witchcraft.
Love this video, really excited now for my box to arrive in 2 weeks. It sounds like they've done everything I hoped for to make the game a bit easier and more accessible. Can't wait to see the new reports!
I am personally not sold on that new points format but we'll have to see. I liked the factiok tac ops and the possible surprises of what the opponent chose.
Thank you for talking sense about classified. So many people started doomsaying about that. If you go to tournaments, you'll want a tournament team, so a meta team. Also, I am expecting declassified teans to be the new compendium. Weaker than the current rotation, but if you like the team, then go play it! Just don't expect to win 70% of your games with a 10 year old team.
big agree on all these points, super hyped for the new edition! my hand of the archon seems to have gotten a little buff, should be fun to try out! (sorry i "goats!"'ed you at NOVA! lmao)
I believe you guys when you says it's better. Sadly, all the locals I know who were interested gave on the game because of the whacky team special rules and/or the non availability of the last 7 sets at retail. It would be nice if people picked this up again and gave it a chance, but I'm going to wait an see.
I hope they sell the core rules along with the crit ops cards. It just feels like getting robbed when you have to buy the mission cards/crit ops separate from the core rules. This edition having th free rules for the teams has brought back an interest for killteam in my playgroup.
Accurate 2 Hello! The biggest thing for me is the rules language cleanup. Last edition was painful for me personally (I’m a technical writer) and this new edition is so much easier to parse.
Accurate 2 Hello! The biggest thing for me is the rules language cleanup. Last edition was painful for me personally (I’m a technical writer) and this new edition is so much easier to parse. The 4 years of support for the tippy top tier is way better than a lot of other competitive games.
If they didn't intend to drop teams after 2 editions, they'd have said that. They might keep a handful of teams around to avoid another "lol what's a tyranids" situation at the start of the next edition but even that's optimistic.
Question! I haven’t played Warhammer in a little more than a decade. I’m thinking of dipping my toes back into it, but Kill Team seems like the more budget friendly approach. If I get the new rule book alone (just to skim and maybe test out here and there) is that enough to simply play? Do I need a Compendium book or cards or anything else like that? Sorry for the dumb questions- I have not touched this hobby in years so it’s all new to me again. Thank you!
Kill teams definitely more wallet friendly, and a good way to try out faction you might want to build into an army later. Necessary items are: A kill team (Rules can be found online I would recommend KTDash for roster building) The basic tokens and measurement sticks (conceal, engage, etc. These are available in the equipment pack + core rule book) Dice (D6s for the basic game. D12s are good for wound counters but not necessary) If your not playing at a club then you will also need: A space to play Some terrain And a person to play with with their own killteam (of course. However the new edition does offer a solo mode!) Good luck on your deployment into the kill zone!
From the point of view of metric system user, shapes were much more like imperial system - needlessly convoluted ;) Two triangles are one circle, three circle are one pentagon - almost like twelve inches making one feet, three feet making yard etc. Now number of something is just this - a clear number of multiplicity of same thing. Much more intuitive.
I can see something coming to “adjust” Kill Ops for tournament play. It’s just too good, in that it both scores points, and allows you to deny the opponent points.
Watching this along with every other Hive Storm video stoked I got my preorder in lol. Totally off-topic question: what were the two fonts used at just under 1 minute?
honestly i know it isn't quite your guys game type, but would love to see the single player variant as I with no one to play with am excited to try that out to learn to play then "convince/trick" my fiancé to play the coop with me.
I'm a bit worried about classified due to the model side of things. Unless the models will be reused in 40k by adding the extra sprue to normal kits, this is bad from the hobbyist side of things.
My gaming circle sadly can't afford the starter, and buying stuff outside as single is very expensive. Some people are losing their main and/or only teams, so l don't know what we will do. We didn't like the end of last edition, but then we have people with late edition teams. What l worry about is our group will just dissolve and we don't have any other.
I think you'll be fine actually. All the rules are free, and you don't have to have the proper equipment tokens or anything (just improvise them). Unless you're all playing old compendium I don't think there's anything stopping you using what you already have and playing what sounds like a similar but more accessible game. And if some of you are playing compendium you could easily do house rules for those teams and just play test them a bit.
Just now it seems like this edition might have fixed a lot of the sources of frustration I hade with the game. Don't get me wrong, I played the spit of second edition, I pretty much stopped this January after picking up octarius day one and it was mostly because life got in the way.
Good stuff, spot on for most things! Don't like your take on classified though - I really hope local tournaments will embrace it, and not allow unclassified teams. It's just too many rules to keep in mind - I like that stuff is gradually removed from the game. Keeps it accessible, and lessens the chance you are surprised by some old ploy you unclassified opponent throws at you.
A lot of the stuff you mention in this video are things that annoyed me a little about KT2. I don't have enough time in my life anymore to play any game competitively, and so my games with friends would sometimes get bogged down with the mess of equipment, tac ops, terrain ambiguity, etc. These sound like great changes for my use-case.
Quickly becoming my 2nd favourite Kill Team channel. Thanks guys, this video was very informative and well done. I am a brand new KT player getting ready to dive in with the new edition.

Everything I've seen so far has been great. Mechanically streamlined and interesting...except the Seek rule. Who authorized this language?
I'm guessing Ignore X led to too much confusion. It certainly led to arguments at our table.
