Honestly, thanks for splitting these reviews up into a bunch of smaller individual videos. Much easier to consume instead of sitting through 2 hours vids by most other content creators.
The solo co-op seems almost like an afterthought, and that is really disappointing. I was excited when they announced that it could be played that way, but now rethinking getting it.
no campaign play is truly atrocious, why the fuck would you make a skirmish game without campaign play? Wasn't the whole point of the spec ops system that people complained that kt18 didn't have a solid campaign system?
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames oh for sure, thing is I exclusively play narrative kill team so until they decide to release that this is just a nicely streamlined game I'm not gonna keep playing. I understand why they did it, gw see the tournament scene as their big money maker right now, just sucks that they don't even pay lip service to the rest of us anymore. Even the coop mode is being marketed as just a way to introduce the game to new players, not as a way to tell a fun story
The overview on the solo/coop mode is both disappointing and expected. Good thing there's the fan made Acolyte project to pick up the slack GW has left. I'm also looking at picking up the Darktide boardgame this weekend for some other good solo/coop action.
It definitely has me interested in seeing how they decide to resolve the melee omission and in what they plan for expanding the solo and co-op play. Thanks for responding!
This is why Ash has the best reviews - I've bought stuff based on his reviews, and while I wasn't thinking of the whole box anyway, this review tells me to just skip the core rulebook and source the basic and solo rules somewhere else (although terrain rules would have been nice, not enough to justify the $75Cdn price tag for the book)
Thank you for the review. Hoping they do more with the co-op rules. I love the killteam core rules, but for me, I find all the tact on extra ways to score points and the extra extra ones in campaigna too much for me to cope with. I generally just go back to Necromunda.
GW did say they will support the PVE stuff beyond hivestorm so I am sure more will come at some point. Something like a connected campagain, more npo profiles, boss profiles, more scenarios etc... I am going to throw in some of the pve stuff from the dark tide miniatures game (like how the AI damages player characters).
Thank you for the review. I was mainly interested in the solo play but had a feeling it wouldn’t be as deep as it could’ve been, sad that I was right. I can’t afford the box until next month anyway so I might end up passing unless they say it’s being expanded at some point. Aliens another glorious day in the corps just arrived (as per your recommendation from the previous solo games video) and I’m building it now so that’ll have to do!
The last core rules was without doubt the worse written set of published rules I have ever encountered. So a clearing up is a massive positive Appreciate the review, as while once I got past the last rules I felt it to be a very mediocre skirmish game I was intrigued by co-op play. Seems it has not been done properly, so a definate skip. The modular rules could be a great way to breadcrumb players into the gw games. It seems instead it is being used to monetise it even further.
Also interested to see what gets added to this over time... This book review probably just solidified my decision to at least get the core book for this KT edition, unless this could come Inna starter set after the initial release box hype is over.... I my not 100% sold on the big box, I don't need terrain and I am not big on either team, but the teams ARE growing on me the more I watch videos....
For npo fighting, You always do whats worst for the player. So if a parry-crit-stab is optimal, thats what they do. You do exactly what you would do against a normal enemy in pvp
wait is repositioning just moving?! why not say move? jeez i thought they were gonna use simple terminology. its like they cant help themselves by adding flavour.15:51... yeah i think i might be reading that bit of the rules 6-7 times again.
Move is its own term; outside of the names of the Order. All these orders contain ‘a move’ but they’re separate in that some preclude the use of the others or are related to traits. Normally I totally agree with you on this, but the designers made a terms decision here that’s required them to have this order have its own name.
So, I get that having anything 'sticking out' of your model, is a negative to you, as If your openents model can see a sword tip or antenna end, you can be targeted?
I liked Kill Team last edition but I am not a fan of the release schedule. There is just too much content released too quickly and it is never available so you have to pay scalper prices or proxy to play. Now they are making many teams unplayble entirely. I don't think I will get the new edition as a result. Probably a good game I just am not a fan of GW's business model.
ive been able to buy everyth8ng since beta decima easily. uk though. also didnt bother buying anything. i could as its all so easily available still without scalpers.,

Like you, I’m hoping for another book for linked narrative solo/coop missions.
It won’t happen man
@@TheKid_88It will happen. The only question is if GW will be the ones to do it.
The kommando vs ratlings box coming out may have a cool narrative like how hivestorm does
Damn, i was hoping there would be more in the co-op/solo play rules than what they have given us.
This could/should have been the edition where they featured co-op/solo and made it A Thing.
Good job, as always. I'd hope they will use White Dwarf as a delivery for some more co-op and solo things over the coming months. We'll see

My suspicion is it’s going to get its entire own supplement.

Great criticism about the lack of campaign and narrative.
Great review, thanks. Managed to pick up the Core rulebook and tokens as I won't be playing the two starter set Kill Teams. Keep up the good work 👌

It’s their first time doing this outside a board game so I’m not surprised it’s not super comprehensive:

Just switched notification to all cause I couldn’t believe you had put this out a month ago and I missed it
12:27. Yeah. Found that out the hard way, and now my gunfighter has two different guns. It seriously bugs me.

For someone coming back to killteam how are you making your teams?
Saturday morning reviews! 👏🏾👏🏾🎉🤩🥳🎊🫡

24:49 I don’t think kill team is the campaign rpg type game. That would be necromunda. But I could be wrong
There were rules for it before so they’ve litterally removed it. It was never as detailed as necromunda. But it does suck it’s removed.
Would be nice to see a better resolution image of the NPO stuff, as it will be the only way to get my tyranids on KT table 😅
I'd love to try to get into Warhammer with this, especially with the solo play mode, but I don't like these two armies.
Really sad about the missing spec ops 😢

If GW have solved the cover rules of KT21, which I’ve never really go to grips with, then I’ll upgrade.
Doing some solo games is also a nice touch.

I loved the 2018 edition, those pre-made teams killed the fun of the game for me :(
