    Please remake this, holding the camera (steady, and closer) on the screen so we can see the selections, and W/O the music. We want to HEAR the motors/actuators working. Also, if you've never actually gone through the process of bleeding brakes manually, here's a hint: you do NOT "pump" the brakes like you were doing, as if you were keeping time to the music. We would pump only a few times, then press and hold the pedal down while an assistant opens the valve. The pedal would go to the floor, you would hold it there while the assistant closed the bleeder screw. Then you would SLOWLY let up on the pedal, allowing the fluid time to be drawn down into the line from the reservoir and past the master cylinder. Repeat until there was no more bubbles coming out of the bleed screw.
    In the manual process, before ABS systems, this would (hopefully) force trapped air in the lines out through the caliper and out the bleed screw. With the scan tool you merely press and HOLD pressure on the pedal while the scan tool activates the ABS valves and an assistant opens and closes the bleed screws at the appropriate times. No "pumping" involved, because the scan tool does it for you - all you have to do is supply the constant pressure at the pedal as it travels toward the floor.
    Using a clear plastic line between the bleed screw and a jar to catch the fluid helps in a few ways: it lets the assistant see the air bubbles coming out, keeps air from being pulled back up into the wheel cylinder if you let go of the pedal, lets you know when there's no more air coming out of the bleed screw, and lets you see just when you have clean fluid coming out of the cylinder (and how dirty the old fluid was. But that was the old way and you CAN'T do this in the same way with ABS systems. You now have to activate all the valves in the ABS pump/valve body, as it traps air and with the valves closed, you can "pump" the pedal all day long, but never get any fluid pumped through the valve body. Hence the actuator cycle in the scan tool's software.
    But you STILL have to press down on the pedal and hold steady pressure on it, not "pump" it up and down as you were doing. That essentially was defeating the purpose of the process. I bet your brakes were spongy after that, if you were doing it for real (with air in the lines) and not just doing it for show.

    ... see, my whole problem is NOT being able to see the screen on the scanner. It took me 20 minutes to figure out there was a very fine blue line around the "ABS" option. Has anyone found a video that shows the procedure up close and personal? My owner's manual has letters about the same size and I have a hard time reading them, even with my cheaters. Other than this obvious flaw, it seems to offer quite a bit of information, but the info is useless if you can't see wtf you're looking at.

    Thanks for the video. I wish the camera was a little closer so I could read the text on the OBDII scanner.
    I have a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. It might be too new for the scanner even though I did the updates.
    After I pick Asian\Honda, the scanner does not ask model. The scanner will not allow me to pick Active-Testing.
    Any thoughts?

      Hi Ron, I have asked the FOXWELL factory, they said they will update the software, then you can use it to test your 2019 HONDA

    So there is no auto bleed then... If someone has to open the bleeder what's the point of this?

    • @atomicdog71
      @atomicdog71 4 роки тому +1

      Yes, there is an auto bleed for the ABS pump. Even though you might bleed your brakes, that does not mean that all of the air will be expelled from the ABS pump. The ABS pump typically only engages when there is traction loss during heavy braking. Who wants to go out and purposely skid around just to engage the ABS brakes. This scanner forces the pump to engage, then you can bleed normally. This guy did an extremely shitty job of showing how this works.
