    A good video to sum up modern UK motorcycling: bimbling about in traffic and through endless built-up areas in 3rd. Then out on the open road, if you ever dared try to enjoy the immensity of power that the Panigale has to offer, you can fall foul of the first speed trap. I've owned Ducatis for over 30 years, but this one would be an endless frustration until I eventually lost my licence. Which might not take long. You're going to have to blur out the speedo if you ever try to really test this thing.
    It's a lot of money to buy a lot of stuff that you won't ever need or be able to use on the road. Very sad. Biking was a lot more fun in the 90s.

    Love the looks of the V4S Panigale, but spent my money on the Supersport S. More likely to keep my license, and still have fun on real roads. Mirrors have gone away, replaced by bar end units, exhaust is the updated Akro units, and the Supersport S is still a lot of fun at normal speeds.

      1. Does it hot ?
      2. How is it fell in low speed
      3. Is it hard to maintain it (as other ducatis)
      4. How its fuel consumption ? better than the 1299 and MT 10 ?
      Thanks for your videos sir !!!

    You lucky, lucky sod LOL, a fella at our club bought the V4S during the summer and let me have a ride on it, to be honest I was a bit wary before I rode it as the same fella had a Panigale 1199 in the past which he was kind enough to loan me and I can say it was the first bike since the original Kawasaki H2 to scare me but the V4 is a completely different kettle of fish, it's as civilised as you want it to be and is as mad as you want it to be. I found it to be almost Fireblade like in the way you feel instantly at home on it and it's so confidence instilling, as I said you're a lucky man!

    Is the bike too powerful for the road. Of course it is - However, it comes down to the brain sitting on the saddle. Self control - needed in buckets full. The bike is perfect but if it was under my butt on a day to day basis I would probably yield to temptation and give it a squirt and there goes the licence. I have enough trouble keeping the temptation at bay on my 14 RT and I have a few pieces of road that I know well and when the traffic conditions are right (and the High Way Patrol is absent) I give the bike her head and the grin fills the visor. Owning this rocket would be like flying a fighter around in controlled airspace - following the Airbus/Boeing people movers. Love your bike assessments.

    • @philiproberts6947
      @philiproberts6947 6 років тому +3

      What the hell, forget the MCN,how can you compare TMF to a Michael Neeves who tested the V4S on the road as a long term loan bike and also on track! He is also a seasoned racer and endurance racer. Neeves put this bike through its paces and didn't just bumble round like TMF does. Yes TMF needs to stay legal as much as he can but he can not give feedback like a seasoned racer can.
      I love TMFs videos but some bikes he tests are lost on him due to him not having the experience of riding bikes at race level.
      Although I like to see the reactions and opinions of the average bloke like TMF on these sort of bikes if I wanted to know what there really capable of TMF is the last bloke you'd watch.
      Many buy these bikes to pose on as you need to be loaded to pay repairs should you get things wrong and let's be honest the faster you go the more likely of things going south.
      No offense to TMF intended but he should not be compared to a seasoned racer on this type of bike!

      Szlejer last time I checked Neeves has his V4S as a long term loan bike,apart from track work,he used it to commute on and also toured on it. TMF had it for a few hours,he can only give a first account review of this bike unlike Neeves who lived with it for a while. If you would buy this of the back of TMFs review then crack on.....
      Why would a "racer" have a "skewed" perspective! Neeves is one of MCN's main road testers not just a "racer" what a daft comment to come out with,your basically saying he can't review a bike for road use as he races bike's.

    • @Szlejer
      @Szlejer 6 років тому +1

      @@philiproberts6947 Don't try to put your words in my mouth, buddy... Thanks. I never said he has skewed perspective, try to comprehend stuff before posting. Anyone at the high/extreme end of any hobby/sport has a somewhat skewed perspective than the average joe. A "racer" has completely different concept of riding comfort, just to give you one example...

    What a great fist look! Like you, I’m smitten with Ducatis in general. They are beautiful just sitting still, and always a thrill to ride. I am “making do” with the previous R version (1299 R FE), but I certainly think the V4S (and upcoming R) is incredible. I don’t know for sure, but the quick shifter may behave differently depending on the riding mode. Plus, as you know, they are constantly improving things like that via firmware updates. By the way, you “caused” me to get the new R1250 GS Adventure when I quite innocently happened to go look at the new models. This channel has cost me quite a bit of money!

    Beautiful bike and totally over the top in every way. Do I want one? Yes. Will I get one? No. On today's roads with all the traffic, texting idiots and cameras there is little opportunity to enjoy the performance and sports bikes rarely make great daily drivers. Commuting on a sports bike is the price people pay for their weekend excitement. Great if you have very deep pockets and can own one as a weekend toy but there's a reason sports bikes are less popular these days and it was summed up nicely by a mate of mine. "I've got this fantastic bike but can't use it without risking my licence and life." He now rides an Africa Twin. I have a workhorse GS for long trips and Bonneville T100 for the rural lanes, fantastic riding at less cost and risk to the licence. Great review as always.

Will its electronic gizmos overcome aquaplaning - I don't think so! Saw the 70 speed limit past in 2nd gear, so how frustrating would this be on a blast? Drooling over the beauty of the machine, could almost live with the vibrating mirrors and silly side stand. What a beautiful racing machine. Sorry to be blunt but you'd have to be a fool to tour on this bike. Sport oriented body position, non-existent off-road capabilities, no serious engine or fairing protection options, extremely limited luggage options, way less comfort than on a proper touring bike, less weather protection and probably shitty fuel economy. You wouldn't take your Italian leather shoes jogging through a country meadow now, would you? Same principle applies here. You can, but you'll have a terrible experience... and you'll ruin your fancy Italian shoes.

    Having three Ducati twins, honestly still not completely sold on the Pani V4 over the RSV4. Mainly due to the sound. At low revs it sounds almost exactly like the twin, I expecting more like the Desmosedici RR (or perhaps similar to RSV4). Maybe an exhaust would help, but I kind of doubt it and they are ridiculously expensive for Termi or Akrapovic for the bike. Exhaust cannot change the phase of the sound from the four cylinders using the crank Ducati does to mimic a twin sound. Was totally ready to love it (and do in almost every way)...but the sound....

    Good review, you're clearly a fan...curious how few comments about price...around £24K ! the multi purpose GS's get slated for the price. I've just recently sold an 1198S I've had from new, a bruiser of a bike, not smooth, not comfortable, a challenge to ride well, mirrors were pants and no range (best I got 92 miles) but I loved it ! can't say I'm feeling the Panigale, I'm sure they are a much more refined bike but after having owned Ducati's on and off since 1980 refinement was never something I yearned for, however, it is more likely to appeal to younger buyers...I must be getting old.

    I've got the standard V4.Had to back the preload off almost fully on both front and rear suspension for the road.There's a lot of weight on your palms due to the low bars but apart from that it's surprisingly comfy.It's mostly an issue on bumpy b roads at lower speeds. It leaves me wondering how much better the ohlins version is,and how I can raise about ten grand to upgrade to the 2019 Corse version! Up and down shifter makes it feel like a semi automatic. So easy. Look forward to seeing more reviews :-)

    • @drewiediggler1
      @drewiediggler1 6 років тому

      Good point. I can't imagine the semi active suspension can go any softer than my current set up anyway.They all have the same maximum travel.Makes a big difference backing everything off for the bumpy cart tracks of North Yorkshire!

    • @Doug_Morgan
      @Doug_Morgan 6 років тому

      @@TheMissendenFlyer Yes if you ever get the chance you really must. Riding position is similar to the 1200RT but slightly sportier, slightly more forward lean and bend in the legs. Handling is divine for such a large bike at about 290 kg wet. The engine is her heart however. It has a character all of her own. Extremely smooth, turbine like with a torque curve unlike anything you would expect out of an inline 4. It doesn't matter where you are in the rpm range, when you punch the throttle it goes. It is rated at 136 HP so maybe they took a little off the peak power to make gains across the rest of the power band. Whatever they did, it just works.

    Gotta agree with you about the panageli being a thing of Beauty, I have a couple of things against it though. 1, cost, 2 fear factor of servicing and repair, and 3, all the Ducati bikes in my opinion they having got the plumbing not right always appears unfinished or not routed correctly. (thats the pipe work) : )

  • @palantir135
    @palantir135 6 років тому

    Yes, it's a gorgeous looking bike, yes it has loads of power but who needs 200+ bhp on the streets. Less than half will do.
    Commuter bike? No luggage capacity, poor weather protection. Seating position is set for speed not comfort and therefore not for touring.
    Can you use it as an everyday bike? Of course you can but it wouldn't be the best bike for that purpose.
    Still a bike to fall in love with. I'm still in love with the v-strom dl650, not a beautiful bike but a great bike for everything.
    P.s. I'm curious how it will do on a small road with some short, sharp consecutive corners Why? The handle bars are narrow and I think you will have to work hard unless you take the corners slow.

    In a few weeks it would be interesting to see how riding the 'latest and greatest' bikes affects your enjoyment of your personal bikes. The Ducati and GS in particular. After a night out with Rachel Riley can one go back to 'er indoors? So to speak. And is it possible you can give us the current mileage on your loan bikes? Noticed it was a '67 plate so wondered if it had been run-in or was pre-reg. cheers.

    Given the cost of this machine, I think Ducati would have come up with a better looking solution to the design of their master cylinder reservoirs. They look akin to the receptacle one might use to provide a urine sample!
    Why do they go from the designed ones on the Diavel to what looks like last minute add-ons on this Panigale?

    Lovely bike and I am sure it is great to ride! Personally, I prefer the looks of the previous model. I am not a fan of rear seat cowl on the new V4 Panigale. It's too high IMO and I found it quite difficult to get my leg high enough when getting on one so as not to catch the paintwork. I'm sure its a better bike but it's definitely not as pretty as the previous model. Great review BTW...
