I bought 3 of these about a year ago, and they all have this issue. I tried grinding the tanks down on 2 of them, but the issue persisted. They stay in their jewel cases most of the time now. And I don't want to crap on Atlas because I've bought many great running locomotives before and since I got the BW's.

Good solid review, Peter. As you mentioned I've been really disappointed in Atlas's lack of quality control as of late. With my own experiences plus the issue you had with the gears on this new Dash-8 I just can't bring myself to spend money on anything from Atlas's most recent runs with the black boxes. I wonder what, if any, Kato mechanisms would make suitable hosts for these shells. The unfortunate truth is that Atlas tends to make roads that I like such as MKT. So i'm pretty suck buying their wares as stripe kits for MKT aren't really available anymore from Microscale. At least that i've been able to find.

Thanks Shane! I wish I knew what has been up with atlas as of late? In addition to their locomotive model missing the mark, there delivery dates are slipping. Although, I think the latter may be an industry wide problem..

You are absolutely correct diesel guy. You mean to tell me that no one at Atlas set that engine down on the track to see if it would actually run?

      Thanks for watching!

Could you grind down the tank a little bit for clearance? Just a little?

Tried that, there isn't much to take off as the tank is made of thin plastic, the demotions are the problem.
